This was my place to go frequently for all my fish and supplies when we lived in the area. Extremely knowledgeable and professional staff. They definitely know their fish - from breeds to care to what and how much to get to decorate your tank. Expert advice on what type of fish may suit your needs and will actually go out of their way to explain why. They actually care that you will take good care of these little guys. For a reasonable fee, you can have them come to your home to set your entire tank up. This was the TOPPER that made me give them their well deserved 5 stars. The owner actually babysat my little fish. Yes he did. Three years ago we bought our first house in Levittown and I didn't know what to do with my 20 gallon tank and five little fish who at that point had lived past a year. He said he would actually keep our fish in a separate tank until we set up the tank in our house. When we went back to pick them up a few days later, there they were, swimming around happily. And - NO CHARGE for the babysitting. Well, unfortunately, our tank is now empty but one day we will set it up again and I will be back to Total Aquariums. I really like this shop they have a good quality fish and Nice corals. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, but they are no longer selling to the public. I went in to pick up a couple of fish and corals and the door was locked with a sign. I hope they open their doors again. read more

Ok so the pros: * Very clean tanks * Livestock looks like it's well-kept * Prices seem fair * Decent variety (judging on freshwater only, I don't know much about saltwater) Cons: * Staff that helped me didn't seem to know how to catch or handle fish Other notes: * Not many plants * Although freshwater variety was decent, there didn't seem to be anything that made this place stand out. Nothing that made me think "wow that's interesting, haven't seen that kind of fish before" or "oh wow this place stocks xyz, don't see those often" I'm writing this review mainly because of the con. I witnessed in horror as the staff member tried to catch a couple of fast-moving clown loaches and managed to scoop up the loaches with gravel, BURYING half them within it. He didn't seem to concerned about that, even though half the loaches had their heads buried. To make matters worse, when he tried to put the loach in a plastic bag for me to take home, he tried to use his HANDS, yes his HANDS to get the loach out of his little container and put the extras back into the tank. Listen even if you don't know much about fish, it doesn't take an expert to know that you don't use your hands to handle the fish... this is why you have NETS. As he handled the loaches, one pricked him in the finger and it fell to the floor. Poor fish. This was poor judgement on my part but I still bought one as I was determined to buy a loach... it was the perfect size and there was none in stock around my area... I traveled 30 minutes to this joint just to get one. The loach also looked robust as it was fairly plump and active (not emaciated as you would see in many fish shops). Not surprisingly, it died within a few days of putting it into my tank. He stayed ghostly white and his color never came back in the few days that I had him (most likely because it was scared sh*tless and traumatized by the experience). And no, I am not an amateur; I worked in a fish shop for several years while I was in high school and know how to acclimate fish. The loach was drip-acclimated in a bucket and then introduced into my tank after much of the bucket was filled with my already established tank water. I have several clown loaches, yoyo loaches, an apisto, rams and kuhli loaches happily living in my planted tank so I know water quality isn't the issue. The store is nice in presentation but please train your staff better. read more

They carry salt as well as my favorite African Cichlids. They have quality stock that I have bred for years not months. My pictures say it all. This store has a large saltwater selection for its size. Its even bigger than the freshwater selection. They had several lionfish which I have never even seen before for sale and I have visited many aquarium stores. The folks there were friendly and helpful. I went there looking for discus but they do not carry them unfortunately. Also due to the small space, all the aquarium supplies were behind the counter which made it hard to view the selection. They also have some used equipment for sale which is nice but I did not find something that I needed. I only wish this store was bigger! read more

Best place around! Fish and good both fresh and saltwater, lots of saltwater! And corals are awesome. They keep their tanks super clean, so you'll definitely get healthy livestock. Very fair they are not pushy at all. The owner will not sell you something to just make a sale only if you need it . They test your water for free and if it's not ok they won't sell you the fish. They make sure that you have the knowledge to care for your fish and want you to succeed. I highly recommend them! read more

I have moved into the area within the last six months and have a red sea max 250 reef set up. So, I began my search for a LFS (Local Fish Store) I came across this place and was VERY excited. A: Close, B: fairly good selection, C: seemed clean. But HOLY S*#T .... does the customer service suck. At first until I got my RO system up and running, I had to purchase water from there. EVERY SINGLE TIME I went there, the workers looked at me and treated me like I was a "black man" walking into a "white man" restroom in the 1950's. Extremely rude, unfriendly and would just stand there behind the counter on their phones or WHATEVER and ignore you for literally 5 minuets until you spoke up. And if you have a question... OMFG... they look at you like you're some sort of 2 headed retard! I have bought a couple small things there... within 24 hours the "livestock" has died.... when EVERYTHING else in my tank; soft & hard corals are thriving along with the inverts. I buy something from another place... noooo problems. So, recently went in to grab some supplies.... came out with an $11 "invert"... GREAT DEAL I'm thinking to myself. Well.... 4 hours later... DEAD! Bring it back in the next day... one of the workers tests my water that I brought in and had tested MYSELF just MINUTES before they did at my home. NO nitrates, NO nitrites, NO ammonia, PH @ 8.2, Salinity good, alkalinity good. The worker tests it, doesn't even let the tubes set for the required times and then tells me all the levels are "off"... BS!!!! Tell them the test is supposed to sit for a while.... they just look at me like I'm stupid and say nothing except... "sorry we don't do refunds on salt and your levels are off, if you would have water in and tested it before when you bought it, we would have told you not to." I just left... before I went off on that douche bag! I won't go in there EVER again unless it's some sort of emergency. I recommend that YOU don't either unless you like to be treated like S*#T and pay EXTREMELY HIGH PRICES then get livestock that's not healthy enough to survive the stress of an aquarium change. MY advice... go to Paradise Aquariums. Better selection, better workers, better prices, healthy livestock. read more
