Best repair shop I've been too. I came in because my car was making a horrible scraping sound, I hadn't made an appointment and they were pretty busy yet they still made time for me the same day. I expecting an expensive repair because it seemed like a worn out wheel bearing. however they were able to diagnose the situation and found a rock in the wheel hub and removed it for less than 50$. I would recommend this shop to anyone, great service, experienced staff and great prices. read more

Came in for an oil change and was told cost is $100-$110. Went to pick up the vehicle and they decided the oil change was $180. Owner begrudgingly knocked off $20. No acknowledgement of any wrongdoing, no apology, definitely not going back. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company! I'm a freight dispatcher out of Kansas City, Mo and just this week I had a carrier break down in their area and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to take care of her. Not only did they get her truck in and repaired IMMEDIATELY, but the hospitality they showed brought my driver to tears. Darlene personally escorted her to and from her hotel while her vehicle was being worked on, had lunch with her and took her all around town to find a lock for her trailer, all while the guys at the shop worked quickly and efficiently to get her back on her route. Service is EXCEPTIONAL here! And they take great care of the local School of Mines students. Which is a huge plus because my little brother is a poor college student there and when had car problems, they did the job quickly, knowledgeably and charged him much lower than he expected. Yup, I said that in a sentence about car repair costs: MUCH. LOWER. Crazy right? But true! John and Larry are the owners here I think, and they are super cool and you can tell they are about quality service. June 5. Too bad this is not an honest business. My daughter brought her Ford Focus in with an "electrical issue" It would not start but the battery was fine. They charged her $200 to "FIX" it. Two days later same problem. Her friend looked at it and discovered it was a fuse. They replaced the fuse. Great! Two days later, same problem. Fuse blew. Source of problem? Starter? Ignition? It turned out to be a short cause by a loose wire near the starter motor. Two zip strips later problem solved by her friend. We called Performance and told them this story. They told my husband they would refund $100. What did they do for $200 besides replace a fuse? "Diagnosing" they said. No refund has been issued to date. read more

I have never had better service! My mom was stranded without brakes and no one to call. I was in Texas at the time and all I could do is search the internet and find an automotive place. I called them up, and they were able to help her get going again. They are super fair in their price, and were very sincere and nice to my mom. She lived too far away to go home, and had to wait while they fixed the brakes. They offered her lunch, and made sure she was comfortable all afternoon. Thanks you!! Such a helpful staff! They were technically closed when we pulled up, but they took the time to look at our old van anyways and tell us what had made the terrible noise we heard. The guys at Performance Plus not only quickly diagnosed my trucks issue they fixed it fast and affordably. I can not recommend them enough.

Honestly made a Yelp account just to point out that this place is not at all honest about their labor hours. Brought my car once for a diagnosis and quote on a brake issue. When I told them I got a better quote somewhere else they charged me $50 because "they had to put it up on the lift, which took some time." A couple months later I returned here for an oil change and for a diagnosis on a funny sound when I started my car, as well as a clicking noise when turning. Dropped the car off at 8am and asked them to call me when they determined the issue. At 430pm after hearing nothing I called, just to be told that they forgot to tell me my car was ready and that the only issue was a loose heat shield rattling around, which they tightened (did nothing to address the clicking) When I arrived I was shocked to learn that my bill was $230 ($70 oil change + $150 labor + $10 tax)...! When I asked why i was told that they had to do a "visual inspection and multiple test drives." I was informed that the hourly rate is $100/h and when I questioned the amount of time that work (essentially nothing besides the oil change) should have taken he retorted with "I'm not going to sit here and do math with you it doesn't work like that". By my math. Oil change: 30 min TOPS. Visual Inspection: 15 min (generously). Tightening the bolt on the heat shield: 5min. Test drive: 10 min (and I hope they weren't driving that far.) As I see it, all this should not take more than an hour, let alone a full hour and a half. Needless to say I won't be going back. UPDATE (the next day): engine still makes the exact same noise when I start it and clicking still occurs during turns. Officially a $230 oil change read more

After driving my old and unreliable car 2,000 miles across the country, I knew something would go wrong. I was right. New to town, I took the advice of my coworkers and went to Performance Plus. The owner (I can't remember his name now) was very cordial and straightforward. He gave me an accurate estimate and didn't give me any bull. His first estimate way through the roof and I told him only to repair what was broken - not what might break in the future. He did what I told him and I luckily haven't had to go back in about four months. I'd definitely recommend going to Performance Plus for repairs, that's where I'll be next time something happens to my car! read more

The last time I came here, these guys replaced my clutch for a good price and when the part was bad, they came too rescue me and my kids, fixed the bad part, and I drove my car back home that evening. To start the guy did the work before being authorized and then when we picked it up it was smashed on three sides and he knew nothing about it. John and his crew are mechanical wizards. This place was recommended to me by a friend, and the service has always been excellent. They have got all of my business, since 2008. They are honest, good old fahioned wrench turners - not looking to rip anyone off - just looking to fix your car the right way, the first time. It's too bad that there isn't an actual, real, recognized rating system in this city, because Performance Plus would set the standard. I have recommended them to all of my friends. read more

My daughter's car died on I25 just north of I76 on her way home to Golden from CSU. We had had mixed results with other Golden repair shops over the years, so we had the tow truck drop it off at Performance. I wasn't able to go down there myself, so my wife met my daughter there and spoke with one of the mechanics who informed her it would be a couple days and that the diagnostic would run from $100-$125 - pretty typical. Well a few days later my wife got a call saying "we're all done, just a dirty mass air flow sensor and throttle plate" - total charge $100. Now most of us know or are in fear of how these things can go, but this was something that really put a smile on my face - competence and honesty! Thanks Performance, we'll be back! read more

This place is a joke. My daughters grandparents bought her a 93 4 runner on Craigslist. They took the vehicle to Performance Plus for a inspection to make sure it was safe for her to drive. The charges were outrageous. Charged eighty dollars an hour and the mechanics are not certified. They repaired an emergency brake, replaced the battery and rebuilt the starter, and replaced a thermostat that did not need replaced. The total bill was near !000. After the car was given to my daughter found out the tires were different sizes and one of the rims had chunks out of it. The heater did not work due to the temperature control switch being broke. The thermostat was suppose to fix the no heat problem. The brake pad on the left front of the car was grinding into the roter. I had to replace both the pads and the roters. The shocks on the car were shot and I had to replace all 4 of them. I recommend that no one do business with this company they obviously don't have a clue what they are doing. I do have the receipts for the work performed and their notes. read more

Worst car mechanics ever! My boyfriend and I were traveling through town when we were having car problems. We read the good reviews online, but we were misled, probably because Performance Plus deletes unfavorable reviews. If they were honest people they would not delete bad reviews, but try and change their work ethic so that they were honest mechanics - that is how you get good reviews!! Our Jeep was in worse condition than when we brought it in, we even had to go to other mechanics later just to get work redone that they botched. To top it all off they were extremely overpriced!!!!! We were overcharged by SOOOOOO much!!! We have talked to other mechanics since then and they have told us we were overcharged by 500 dollars for transmission work and solenoid replacement. Enough to make you mad, awful work that is overpriced. Not to mention the money we had to pay to get the work fixed that they couldn't. Performance Plus, please do honest work, do not take advantage of people who make an honest living themselves. That's just not fair. read more

Staff is very helpful and friendly..that's the only positive. I took my SUV in to get the heater fixed (this was after they had already looked at it and gave me an estimate). I accidentally showed up on the wrong day (early) and the mechanic said it was no problem they could handle it then. Two hours later the receptionist called and said the owner John said no, they can't do the work earlier than scheduled, to come and pick it up. So I bring it in on the originally scheduled date and the next day the receiptionist calls me to say that the owner said it's too much to deal with and they basically don't want to do it. I had several other estimates and Performance plus was the lowest price, but I had to wait 2 weeks to get in, so I was very dissapointed that they blew this off and would not even offer a new estimate for the work. I could have had it fixed by now and of course it's now snowing! I then go to pick up my vehicle and it doesn't start! My husband is trying to give the thing a jump and we have to jumper cables hooked up and everything and the owner actually walks right past us, looks at the situation and does not say a word! The car still would not start and my husband had to go and ask one of the mechanics to help out. They eventually got it started but I'm worried that they messed something else up! Do not go here! The owner is super aarogant and ungrateful for the business. Give it to someone who actually cares about what they do and the people they serve. read more
