I have a new mechanic. What a really pleasant experience I had with my local Big O in Golden, when…read moreI recently got a leak in one of my tires. I needed a quick fix, and Costco was not able to help me quickly, so I thought--patch a tire? Big O! When I called them, a pleasant man answered the phone and set me up with an appointment that afternoon to see what was going on with my tire. It was not able to be patched, so they explained it all to me, and showed me why, temporarily patched it for no cost, and helped me check the price of a replacement tire (my other tires are basically new, so luckily only had to replace the one). I wanted to compare with Costco, which they very willingly and helpfully did, right down to the terms of their tire warranty. I decided to go ahead and purchase the tire from Big O. While all this was going on, I was waiting in their store, and witnessed several interactions with customers in-person and on the phone. One elderly person was waiting for a ride home, and the mechanic took a break and drove him home himself. I witnessed other explanations to customers, like they had done with me; helpful phone calls; people picking up their cars after having work done on them. All their interactions impressed me. I didn't realize that Big O' does more than tires, but it became clear to me that they do. I asked about it, and they told me they do all the things--oil changes, brakes, regular car maintenance. At this point, they had, perhaps unknowingly, built a lot of trust in me, and believe me when I say that next time I need work done on my car, I will head straight to them. I would have given 5 stars, except it seems that when my tire arrived, nobody called me :(. I did have a time estimate, so I called in and my tire was there. They got me in right away, installed the tire in no time, and were apologetic. Normally, this would have been an unacceptable annoyance to me, but they did not try to argue or hide from what had happened. They were very up front and told me that the tire had come in, and they forgot to call me. I appreciate that.
