This is a review for the experience I had with the owner, Rich Lee. Having had a couple of unsatisfying experiences with the local dealer, I was searching for a shop that I could feel more comfortable bringing my car to for service. I brought my Mini in to get a second opinion on a list of items the dealer told me I needed and Rich took the time to look at everything and then spent about 15-20 minutes going over each item with me in detail (while looking at each part with me, explaining how it works, what causes issues, etc.) in an educational manner which was highly appreciated (no condescening tones here!). At the end of the day, I didn't have my car serviced here because Rich kindly advised me that the items the dealer pointed out were not in any need of being repaired in the near future (especially given my low mileage use) and recommended that I merely bring my vehicle in periodically so he could take a look at them. He also promptly emailed me a full quote for all of the items we discussed so that I had an idea of what I was looking down the road in terms of price. I am so happy I found Performance Autowerk after recently moving to the Tri-Valley. I took a 2014 BMW 5-series in for air conditioning troubles and Rich and his team were very responsive and quick to diagnose the problems. I had a third party warranty on my car and Rich worked with them to cover the cost of the repair despite them trying to escape paying for genuine parts. I was fed up with BMW dealership and hence wanted to try another shop. Rich was very responsive right from the get go and provided me inputs with respect to the brake replacement work. He even agreed to take a look at my vehicle before the work for free and provided his inputs. The work done was top notch and I'm very satisfied. Also worth mentioning Rich agreed to give me the check-in discount even though I just got service and didn't buy any parts from him, really appreciate it. Now the not so good thing - I felt the guy at check-in (unfortunately can't remember his name) was pretty cold and unresponsive. He didn't seem very happy I would be hanging around when I asked if they have wifi. I had some questions on follow-up service and oil change to which he gave me a lukewarm response. Also, I had ordered by mistake two packs of brake sensors (each has front/rear). Both were in the car and I thought only one pack would be used. But I couldn't find the unused pack and upon asking the same gentleman he was clueless. It was small thing/price so I ignored. Even during checkout when I mentioned about the discount he wasn't too happy and it was a sheer coincidence that Rich walked in that time. Everyone has a bad day so I will give him the benefit of doubt. I so wanted to give a 5 star for Rich doing quality work and being very helpful. These guys are honest and hard working. Brought my Mercedes GLC in with a check engine light on, it recently went out of warranty. Got a quick diagnostic the same day and the repair was done next day. The owner seemed honest and talked me through the steps needed to be taken to repair the car. It is still a German car so repair wasn't cheap, but a quick search tells me these guys were still cheaper than dealership by about 30-40%. In fact, when my girlfriend and I first started dating, she took her X5 to them without knowing they were my shop. She had a quote for work from the BMW dealer for $5k to fix the rear hatch. They looked at the quote, took a look at the car, and in five minutes fixed the issue FOR FREE. Stereotypically, my girlfriend is someone who'd be taken advantage of at car shops. She's female, doesn't know anything about cars and doesn't pretend to. Rich didn't know she was my girlfriend or that we even knew each other, and they'd never seen her before, but because they're in the business for the long term and want to create relationships with customers, they treated her fairly. PA was honest when the Mini got aged... told us about not just repairs needed, but maintenance and repairs that would be coming up soon. Amazing staff and an extremely pleasant experience from start to finish. I brought in my C350 with a couple aftermarket parts and an idea for a custom quad exhaust set up. Carl and Evan helped me get an idea of the necessary work, referred me to a local exhaust shop for the mufflers/tips, and worked with me to schedule a time to get my diffuser installed. I brought in my aftermarket carbon fiber diffuser and early on in the installation process, it became painfully obvious that the part was not manufactured with proper fitment (cheap ebay part). The guys at Performance Autowerk wrestled with the not-so-perfect diffuser and got it to fit perfectly! They created custom brackets and drill locations to ensure my diffuser would not fall off some time in the future. Their attention to detail was the most impressive part--they even painted the exposed rivets in black to match the diffuser! The install took longer than originally quoted and they only charged for the additional custom brackets they had to create. The friendly staff, their knowledgeable expertise, and no-nonsense price got me hooked. I am definitely coming back here for any modifications or maintenance in the future. read more

Rich provided excellent customer service both over the phone and in person. He took his time to explain and communicate everything to me in great detail and made me feel like my satisfaction was his number one priority.
