Had coilovers installed with the guys at VT and I loved the entire experience end to end. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and quick, and I felt like I was in great hands. Every time I came back with questions or experiences about the coilovers, they made sure I walked out not just feeling taken care of but also understanding my next steps. For instance, at a recent appointment they checked on my coils out of courtesy and took the time to walk me through what I could do about what they found. Definitely the best shop I've been to, and I'll be recommending them to others. read more

Vt Motorworks - My car with the coilovers installed. - Auto Repair Near Me - Pleasanton, California

These guys are fantastic! Responsive, helpful, friendly, and fair. As a woman and as someone not knowledgable about cars, I had previously had bad experiences with auto shops overcharging me and talking down to me... until I found Vt Motorworks. Such a breath of fresh air. Even though it was obvious that I knew next to nothing about car mechanics, Vt Motorworks did not take advantage of my ignorance. They explained the basics to me and charged a fair price for repairs to my 2004 BMW 325i. When my car was on the fritz, they even took a look at it for free. The guys spoke to me respectfully and answered all of my questions. 10/10! :) read more

My BMW e60 550i was throwing exhaust camshaft codes and was in limp mode. I contacted VT Motorworks and they were able to respond to my email with what the issue might be and when they were available to get my car into the shop promptly! I dropped it off, went out of town for a week and when I got back it was fixed for a very very reasonable cost. John and Wing are extremely nice and seem to care about keeping these old BMWs on the road without emptying my wallet in the process. I 100% trust these guys on their knowledge and will be back if my car ever needs it. Thanks again! read more

Vt Motorworks - 2018 F36 440i lowered on ST XA coilovers! - Auto Repair Near Me - Pleasanton, California

I've brought two cars to Matt and Wing at VT, and they're consistently incredible. I brought a 2011 e93 335is with a bunch of engine problems which they were able to thoroughly diagnose and give me an informed opinion. One time my car turned off immediately at startup and was making a racket - in a panic, I called Wing and he helped me find there and then that the charge pipe wasn't locked, and how to fix it. Note he did this for free and I hadn't even brought my car to them for any work at that point. Just demonstrates the caliber of their character. My turbos had vacuum issues, and they were able to diagnose a separate camshaft bearing ledge failure, which the dealership was unable to. After that car was rear-ended and totaled, I brought my 2018 M4 and continued receiving the same incredible service. They're consummate professionals who know BMWs inside out, and take pride in how consistently thorough they are. They're also remarkably patient - I love learning more about my car, and they take the time to walk me through my questions despite how busy they are. They're very responsive and pricing is more than fair - to be candid it feels like they could charge an order of magnitude more, like other BMW mechanics I've used who don't come close to the level of diligence and service. They don't try to upsell you on anything you don't need and are completely transparent throughout the process. read more

Where do I begin! VT Motorworks was recommended to me by my son. I am sooooo happy and impressed! Wing and his team are the ultimate honest professionals! If you want an auto service center you can trust, rely on and go the extra mile, VT Motorworks is the place. They went to bat for me with BMW about a warranty issue and got me resolution... no cost to me! Then, my car died on me in my driveway one day after work. I had it towed that night to VT, and because they are open on Saturday, they got the part, did the repair, and I had my car back by 4:30! Amazing!!!! I'll never go anywhere else! Mary N. read more

Honest pricing and no upselling. Great shop to work with and will be coming back to do more work.

Tl:DR - if you own a BMW, you owe it to yourself to check these guys out for service and upgrades Quality of work, communication, expertise all great and prices are fair. Wing and Team will treat your car as if it was their own. I purchased a fairly high end Ohlins suspension kit for my M2 (they are an authorized dealer) and I can't say more about the overall experience. Wing guided me through the spring rate setup, damper adjustments and other features. After the install the car has been transformed! The after service has been great as well, VT made sure my settings and alignment were good a month after. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience and it is great to see such an incredible BMW focused shop in the East Bay read more

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt at VT Motorworks. He is very responsive to my emails. He calls in during service if/when he finds issues and offers solid solution. I came from over 50 miles away just to have THIS shop do work on my car. In a two sentences, I would come back to these guys in a heartbeat. They did phenomenal work, stupid fast turnaround, were professional at every step, and have been offering tons of post-service follow up emails to alleviate all my concerns. I booked with VT because on my first call it was immediately clear I was working with enthusiasts, which to me means the techs take pride in their work. As if there was any doubt, the cleanliness of the shop confirmed my suspicions. If you're into cars, it'd bring a smile to your face. These guys were nice, professional and offered a very competitive rate. They've earned my business next time I do a big project. Wing and Matt are both easy people to work with. I had the option to pay online which for me was a nice touch. When I picked up my car I was was handed my keys and just drove away. I also had a bunch of "special requests" that I'm sure are mildly annoying to a shop. "Don't use these plates" "Put the differential in my trunk, please on this cardboard"..etc. They took care of all my requests with a smile. It's a small thing on their end that means a LOT to me. I look forward to the next time I work with them. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend giving them a call. read more

Matt and Wing combine extensive knowledge of all things BMW with exceptional customer service. They gave me detailed reports of every issue on my E46 M3 through email and responded promptly to any questions I had. Pricing was extremely fair and they only recommended I move with work that was necessary. Matt even showed me all the parts he replaced and explained why they were defective. The experience as a whole was extremely personal and I felt like my car was in good hands. I would recommend VT to any and all Bavarian enthusiasts. read more

Matt and his team did an excellent job changing the rod bearings and motor mounts on my 2013 Bmw m3. They also helped me with the DCT transmission fluid, filter, and gaskets on my e92 m3. Matt is incredibly knowledgeable, knew the answer to all of my questions, and was patient with me as I had a lot of questions to ask. He quoted me a very reasonable price and helped me replace my broken fender lining without even charging me for the service. When I called other shops for estimates they quoted ridiculous prices and weren't even able to order the BE bearings at that time. Matt however had 3 sets of be bearings in stock. He also mentioned how he owned the same car previously so he truly knows the ins and outs of the vehicle. Highly recommend! read more

Best shop in the Bay Area. I have been working with Matt and Wing for a few years now at their previous employer and am proud to continue to do so at their own shop. I am a BMW enthusiast. I love German engineering. So I really can appreciate someone who can understand my passion for these sports cars and my meticulous nature to make them run perfectly. I drove 2 hours to see Matt at VT Motorworks. He came highly recommended for some specific performance work I needed for my BMW M Roadster. It was worth the trip. I arrived on time and Matt was ready to greet me and discuss my requirements. They just opened their shop recently and they are just completing the interior upgrades. The shop was impeccably clean and the brand new epoxy floor made made the entire place sparkle. In addition, the shop equipment was all state-of-the-art brand new. Not even a scratch on the high tech lifts. Very cool. Matt performed the work we discussed while I stood nearby with a pad of paper and questions. Matt worked while I picked his knowledge of specific BMW upgrades and repairs. Matt's direction of how to proceed and advice was impressive. Matt even explained how I could save money and get better results with some tips he has from experience. You don't often get honest feedback like that these days. Hi partner Wing was also very friendly and brought me over a bottle of water. I wasn't even thirsty! If you are reading this review chances are you are evaluating where to bring your car in for service. Based on my experience, you'll walk away impressed with the quality of the customer service and the deep talent at this shop. When new shops open they work harder to earn your repeat business. This was apparent with the over the top experience I had with Matt and Wing. These are good, honest guys who will become very successful by earning your business. read more

They just know what's usually broken on a BMW. I usually go through forums and see if there's a fix I can do myself and when that fails, bring it into Wing/Matt. You can even bring it in for the regular boring stuff. Although their hourly rates aren't the cheapest around, they're quick with the repairs so I find their prices in-line with everywhere else in the area. They also do a lot of advanced modding and welding, taking engines completely apart etc. They have more skills here than other BMW shops. read more

Took my 95 BMW M3 to VT for suspension installation base on a close friend's recommendation. Both Matt and Wing were very accommodating and flexible working around my schedule for drop off. Matt listened patiently to understand my needs and expectation. He followed up with great details to summarize the work to be performed and additional issues identified with options provided. During the pick up, Matt walked me through the car showing all the work performed and explaining all the suggestions made with visual. This is by far the best experience I have ever working with an independent shop. Excellent work! read more

Even with the near death of motorsports, car people are pretty hardcore. They do their own oil changes, go onto YouTube to learn how to swap out brake pads, or hold installation parties to upgrade seats or audio head units. So for car people to give up their babies and put it into the hands of a mechanic, it takes A LOT of trust to do that (and a lack of space, tools, or a lift at their own place). So I just got the BMW Motorsports limited slip differential for my car. I did the research online. It's a 2-4 hour job and needs a few special tools. But given my space in the garage and tools I thought, let's give VT Motorworks a call. Matt over the phone quotes me 2.5 hours. Yep, right in line with what experienced guys do it in (and not a BOOK rate like other ahem... places). I made an appointment and dropped the car off in the AM. VT's garage was packed with cars already - that's always a great sign. Chatted with Matt a bit and then ordered an Uber to get me to work. That afternoon, I got an automated text message that the car was ready. Got my ride share and picked up the car. I asked Matt about the break-in period for the differential, he said he'd already logged about 10 minutes of figure-8s in one of the back-lots nearby and to give it another 10-15 minutes on my own. Yeah, those little things right? On the drive home, no weird noises, no new LSD whines or groans. Needless to say, there's a reason why these guys have 5 star ratings. read more

VT Motorworks is everything you want your mechanic to be. Matt and Wing are extremely knowledgeable honest and fair. What do you want when you take your automobile to the shop? If you are like us: - You want the mechanics to be very knowledgeable and if they don't know the answer then say so (though we haven't seen them stumped yet). - You want the prices to be reasonable. We feel the prices they charge are fair. They've even told us that we should go to the dealership to get a better price on one occasion. Talk about customer service and integrity! - You want to be notified. Call me if there is some news or if the car is or is not ready. They are so good at keeping in touch! We wish these gentlemen the best of luck in their business. They are nice hard working guys - they deserve all success that comes their way. read more

These guys are awesome. Took my m340i over there to have coilovers installed, and they were very accommodating. After the first week on coilovers, I had to take my car back to them since these coilovers settled quite a bit and was too low. They raised it up with no problems at all. After 1k miles from initial install, I had to take it back to bring it back to stock because the coilovers I bought were not to my liking. I am going to go with a different set up and Matt even recommended some other brands I should go with. I will be back once I get my new set of coilovers and wheels. I know I could do it myself, but I don't have the tools, the space nor the time to do it. BTW, anybody wanna buy some coilovers? Like new!!!! Hit me up!! read more

I went here with no appointment. I wasn't sure what exactly I needed because a few sensors came on and BMW dealer told me everything was fine. I wanted VT Motorworks to check it on their computer in hopes they could let me know what was wrong. Matt and Wing were booked up and still made time for me. Wing spent more than 2 hours trying to figure out what was wrong with the car. Turned out there was an oil leak and a lot of bad hose connections that BMW never mentioned. Wing was able to fix it and take care of the sensors. I will only come here from now on for my bmw vehicle. Very reasonable priced. read more

I had an oil leak on my E30 and took my car to VT Motorworks to get it diagnosed and repaired. The shop is brand new, the lobby/office area is still getting built; so there isn't an area to hang out just quite yet. There is an assortment of cool cars to look at though. Matt and Wing are both very friendly and super knowledgeable they were able to get me back up and running in no time. Matt also noticed some other things that needed replacing and showed/explained what I needed urgently and what would need replacing when I had a chance. No pushy salesman type upselling, just good informative service. When I dropped off my car Matt even took the time out of his day to look at an issue on my father's car real quick. I came to Pleasanton from Fairfield on a recommendation from a fellow BMW enthusiast. Since I usually work on my own cars I am usually a bit weary of having other people work on it. The work I needed done was not somethibg I wanted to tackle with Jack stands in my own garage. I easily made an appt via email. On the day of the service I was greeted by Matt who was courteous and professional. The work was done ahead of time and when I arrived I found my car with the windshield shade in pace. Whoa...
