Stopped in this little gem last week. They have a great Yelp deal for a box of 8 chocolates for $7 (normally around $15). I took advantage of the deal but there were so many flavors that I had to get another box! They are all made in this shop so the staff knows everything about each flavor, which is great. These chocolates are a bit pricey but they're worth it. I gave one of the boxes to a client and they really enjoyed them. They make great gifts, apparently! The Perfect Truffle is WOW-worthy. Amazing, beautiful, artworks of chocolate. Don't just buy a box, stop in the shop and be amazed by the array of flavors and the chocolately artistry! A chocolate from here is truly an elevated experience. (I'm a little excited by this place, can you tell?!) With Christmas season in full swing, I highly suggest purchasing some chocolates for the hard-to-shop-for people on your list. Anyone would appreciate a lovely little box of chocolates from here. Stock up on some for girlfriends, family, coworkers, and an extra box or two for any unexpected holiday visitors. Always get a box to take home too. Seriously, this stuff is good. The fun part is picking out flavors. This may be a little "nerdy" but I like to make themed boxes. Example: Egg Nog, Gingerbread, Red Wine, and Winter Chai for a "Holiday Box" or maybe Bacon, Guinness, Captain Morgan, and Gozo for a more manly mix? These truffles are always a huge hit with my clients- I love giving them as a gift. The biggest hit is always the Flying Dog one- people are scared to try it, but when they do, they love it. My favorite is the very unique looking vanilla truffle. So darn tasty. I was bummed to see they had a Yelp coupon after I paid full price, but oh well. Totally worth it! read more

We ordered corporate gifts from Randy and team for the 2017 holiday season. After communicating via email about possibilities he then hand delivered the sample box and left it for staff to try at no charge. We were impressed with taste and quality of the truffles so we then ordered many more boxes as client thank you's. They too were delivered with beautiful ribbons in a timely manner. About 9% of the U.S. population are diabetics like myself, I do wish they could have a couple of no sugar added, truffles because marketwise, it amounts to around 30 million Americans. I almost refused to try this place after trying Zoe's, which also gets rave reviews (Zoe's was a huge disappointment). This is what specialty chocolate is supposed to taste like. Excellent, perfect, AMAZING truffles!!! The only downside is they are super expensive and you don't get any bulk discount until you buy more than 24 (not trying to feed these hips) I think it is. So minus one star for price but they are really tasty and have so many flavors you can barely choose one with the last $2 you have before your next paycheck. read more

In terms of store appearance, the Perfect Truffle shop is far less charming than Zoe's. Tucked behind some other stores on Shab Row, it can also be a bit difficult to find. However, if you are a chocolate lover, you will definitely want to seek this place out. Each chocolate is a adorable little piece of art, and many of the flavors are wonderful. I was not a big fan of the balsamic truffles, as they turned out to contain a jelly-like filling, of which I am not a fan. I did greatly enjoy the vanilla pyramid and the 72% truffle. At only $7 for a box of 4, these would make a fantastic gift. read more

This is my favorite place to grab a treat downtown! They have their regular truffles and seasonal flavors as well. Truffles come at $2 per piece and can be purchased in boxes of various quantities. The establishment is very clean and staff is friendly. My son didn't like his first flavor choice and she helped him figure out a flavor he would enjoy. This place is absolutely hands down amazing!!! First time in here and the 3 girls working where all VERY friendly, told me about the place and how they hand make the chocolates, very impressed!! The designs are absolutely beautiful, I got a box of 4 and the price was amazing!! I was expecting the place to be outrageously expencive, but it was extremely afordable!!! The chocolates were beautiful to see, and I love walking around shab row in Frederick. Unfortunately, each of the chocolates left a bitter after taste in my mouth. Both myself and my husband love good chocolate especially dark. However I've not been able to find it here locally. Perhaps if the chocolates had cream filled centers with a punch of flavor vs flavor in the dark chocolate centers, it seems the dark chocolate centers overwhelm the flavor profile. I'm sad it's hot now and I cannot order my favorites from Florida. read more

I've purchased chocolates at this place at least three times. And I really wanted to like them more than I do, especially because I now live in Frederick. Although they are OK, they don't compare to other handmade chocolates, and are far away in taste from any European ones. Some of the pieces always seem to have a dirt-like taste that is definitely not pleasant. Having had a lot of Swiss chocolates because my son lived there for years and I visited many times, makes me compare. These don't come even close. read more

My problem with the perfect truffle is that they were too good. We bought three boxes, two for the neighbors as Christmas presents, and one for ourselves to try. We ate them all! Every single one of the flavors we picked was fabulous (my favorite was the Smores). They were by far, the best truffles i have ever had. I have only been here once for a Mother's Day gift it was a little expensive and I was a bit surprised to see a chocolatiers shop in Frederick but it was worth it. there was such a wide variety of chocolates that I was tempted to buy all of them. I got 6 in total and I got two for myself the chocolates were very good and much above a standard box in the dollar store. There are so many types and flavors from your standard milk chocolate to lavender flavor. I have loved their chocolates in the past however although the new downtown location is visually appealing there is a very, very strong moldy odor the second you enter this old building (found in several shops on that street and in that area) that can permeate the chocolate. Sadly this has been a deterrent for purchasing chocolates there : - ( Think a new building is needed! Also have found that the shape and small embellishments do affect the taste. Some of our faves that perhaps 2 yrs ago had colored sugar on top or a different shape & now have a new style aren't as good. read more

I feel guilty giving them a three. I had a pairing with wine, and the truffles were ok, but I have to say, they were small, and not very flavorful. They cost $2 each and didn't really have much flavor. They are very pretty, but seem to mostly be dark chocolate which I like, but my boyfriend prefers milk chocolate. They just didn't have a lot of flavor. I had the peppermint, which I liked the best, coconut, which were tasty, bacon which just tasted like chocolate, and raspberry, which were lightly flavored.
