I came out of yelp retirement to defend this place. After reading the reviews, I didn't have high hopes. We were visiting the area from Seattle and this ended up being my favorite restaurant of the trip. Food: Chips, guacamole, and salsa trio were all delicious. No, this isn't the type of joint that gives you free chips and salsa but hardly anywhere does that anymore and the quality here is also better. On top of that, they do give out these free munchie snacks that were addictive and unexpected. I ordered the chicken enchiladas that had the tastiest salsa verde. Portion sizes were also larger than expected with three per order. The black beans could have been seasoned more but that's my only minor complaint. Drinks: We ordered the house margaritas as they were on happy hour (on Sundays starting at 2:30!). Nice surprise to get happy hour prices for Sunday dinner. The drinks were tasty - not too sweet and just enough tequilla to pack a punch. Ambiance: Fun! My girls loved the pink chairs outdoors and overall a good vibe. This isn't a 3 margaritas type place - it's upscale Mexican and they do a good job. We brought our kids and they were accommodating despite not having an explicit kids menu. Perch is a restaurant I really wanted to love, and in some ways I did, but it left me feeling a bit conflicted by the end of the meal. The positives first. The staff was friendly, attentive, and on point throughout the visit. Service felt polished and welcoming. I ordered the Cadillac Margarita and it was excellent. Smooth, well balanced, and easily one of the highlights of the night. The atmosphere also leans toward a higher end cantina feel. Warm lighting, nice decor, and a space that feels like it wants to be elevated. Then there is the food. Instead of the usual chips and salsa, they brought out fried Mexican wheat crisps. They were fine, but they felt more like something you would grab at a Hispanic flea market than something you expect at an upscale cantina. Not bad, just unexpected, and a little confusing given the setting. We ordered the flautas and those were genuinely delicious. Crispy, flavorful, and paired with a generous portion of guacamole that really worked. No complaints there. The pozole pappardelle had good flavor, but calling it pozole based felt like a stretch. It tasted good, but it did not really hit the mark of what you expect from pozole. The amount of chicken was also pretty light, especially for a $28 dish. At that price point, you expect a more generous portion, and it just was not there. My wife ordered the chicken tortilla soup and it was very good. That said, it tasted different from the last time she visited. Not necessarily worse, just different. That suggests to me that there may be some variation depending on the day, but the flavors were still solid. Overall, Perch feels like it is caught in a bit of a food limbo. The atmosphere suggests a higher end experience, but the limited menu and some of the food choices do not fully match that vibe. It is not bad, and there are definitely things done well, but it does not quite come together as a complete experience. Overall score is closer to a 4, but still giving a 5 to boost up the rating. The interior has nice decor, I want to spend an hour just looking at all the liquor bottles above the bar, plenty of space for large groups. The food was a solid 4, good taste and portion size, while the service was a bit lacking at the beginning. Came in a weekday for a late lunch. A few other groups already there. We sat in between two other groups, would have liked a bit of space. We were asked about our order immediately upon sitting, but then had a gap for maybe 6 min before we were asked again. Not sure if we were giving off a vibe, but we did look around a bit for the server. After ordering the food came out quick and was plated nicely. I was very satisfied with the Grilled Shrimp bowl. It looks deceptively small, but there is some depth to it and the hearty rice and beans are underneath. The flavors came together well, the salsa and pico, roasted corn, the grilled shrimp themselves, and some creaminess from the beans, just all around solid and would get again. The guacamole seemed like an afterthought, although it may have partially tempered heat from the salsa (but the creams and beans were doing this too). My other party members enjoyed their Guava Lemonaide, Enchiladas Verdes, and Carnitas Bowl. We finished our food and stayed at the table to chat, until we were ready to leave. Oh my... Where do I start? Let's start with the pros: Ambience is cool. Looks like a fun spot to hangout at with a lively atmosphere and southwestern/latin inspired decor. Service seems decent as well. The cons: Food and drinks are not good. It seems to me like they are trying too hard. The dishes were lacking depth and flavor and it seems they try to focus on presentation rather than flavor. I got a chicken dish and it tasted unseasoned and the rice seemed stale. The green sauce on top of it was bland seems out of place. Appetizers were pretty mediocre and the drinks generic. This place has potential to be better but they really should focus on having cohesive dishes that are more flavorful. read more

Great date night spot! My husband and I sat in the patio, the outdoor decor is so bright and fun! Margarita flight was refreshingly delicious! My fav was the white peach flavor! Appetizers were equally as good (chicken taquitos, and carnitas tetelas) we shared the fish tacos, they too had great flavor with spicy sweet mango drizzle. Our waitress was attentive and friendly! First time there with my out of town guests. Big mistake - should have tried it on my own first. Tortilla chips tasted stale and the shrimp was so overcooked that it was crunchy. After seeing several posts about this I decided to give this a try. When it comes to food/drinks everything was bad from beginning to end. Margaritas - typical nothing unique or flavorful. The street corn, this was tough. This should be renamed as it does not resemble or have any taste of street corn. I struggled to find any corn, this was more like a cheese dip with some corn, the brûlée on top made it even worse. I had the taco plate as my entree. The carnitas were sweet, I know traditional recipes call for coca-cola but this was sweet. The quesabirria was ok, and the tinga looked like it had been blended not shredded. I had a very disappointing experience with the management at Perch. After noticing unexpected upcharges on my receipt, I politely asked for clarification, but my questions were met with dismissiveness and a rude attitude. Instead of taking the time to explain or address my concerns, management seemed uninterested and unwilling to engage in a respectful conversation. As someone who genuinely values supporting local businesses, this was especially frustrating. I believe in giving back to the community and choosing small establishments whenever possible, but this experience has made it clear that customer respect is not a priority here. Because of the poor treatment and lack of transparency, I will no longer be supporting this establishment. I had a really disappointing experience at Perch Cantina, mainly due to how we were treated by the manager, Robert. To start, the food and drinks were honestly terrible and downright disgusting. Nothing tasted fresh or well-made, and it definitely didn't match the prices being charged. Our group also noticed we were being charged an additional upcharge for cucumber flavor in each drink, which was never clearly communicated. When we politely asked about it, things went downhill fast. Instead of addressing our concerns or even attempting to explain the charges in a professional way, Robert was dismissive and unhelpful. An additional gratuity was also added to our bill without proper clarification. We were simply trying to understand what we were being charged for, which should be a reasonable request anywhere. What really crossed the line was how the situation was handled after we paid our bill in full. Rather than resolving the issue or showing any level of customer care, Robert immediately threatened to trespass us. That kind of response is completely unacceptable, especially toward paying customers who were calmly asking questions. However, I do want to point out that our server was very kind and understanding throughout the situation, which we appreciated. Overall, between the disgusting food and drinks, lack of transparency, and extremely unprofessional behavior from management, this was a terrible experience. Terrible experience. We were at the restaurant for several hours and had multiple drinks, and when we asked questions about our tab due to unexpectedly high charges, our server was actually polite and helpful, but when we asked to speak to the manager for clarification, Rob was extremely dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of explaining the charges, he repeatedly said, "I'm sorry you feel that way," which avoided addressing the issue entirely. The situation escalated unnecessarily, and calling the police on customers who were trying to understand their bill was completely unacceptable and very poor management. This situation could have been resolved with basic communication and professionalism, but it was handled very poorly. read more

When noticed, I inquired about beers on tap and ended up with a Modello which was cold and tasty. Tex Mex menu was limited and expensive for what was offered. I ordered (2) shrimp tacos sided with black beans and rice. The taco disintegrated when I picked it up from the plate making it impossible to eat as a taco and I ended up using a fork for the balance of my meal. Nice southwest atmosphere however not worth the $33. for 2 tacos and a beer! Will look at other dining options rather than give a second opportunity here. We came on weekend expecting slower service, but we were so pleased by no wait and such prompt service We ordered drinks (pretty in pink), ceviche appetizer, fish tacos, and spicy macha sandwich. I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Perch recently, and it was nothing short of disappointing. I wish that I could give negative stars and wish we had listened to the bad reviews - giving benefit of the doubt in this scenario epically backfired.   Our wait was short to get in, which was the only positive thing I have to say about our experience at Perch. The building looked nice but since the walls are covered in tiles, there is zero sound absorption so it was near impossible to hear each other speak. The food lacked even a hint of seasoning, leaving each dish tasting bland and uninspired. We ordered the Mexican Mezze, which was beans, guacamole, queso, and tortillas. Each dip was unbelievably flavorless; the guac was just hard, unseasoned avocado; the beans were dry; and the queso had oil in it that made the dip slip off "chips."  The chips were three poorly fried torillas that were soft in the middle, making them difficult to rip and share; this choice made no sense as they had actual tortilla chips (we saw that other apps came with them). Don't even get me started on the prices; overpriced doesn't even begin to cover it. To add insult to injury, their alcoholic beverages were not only overpriced but also heavy-handed, making each $20 drink a regrettable choice. We tried 3 different drinks: the desert superbloom (the most expensive and most disgusting was 4 liquors mixed with a tiny dried flower), the Petro de Fresa, and the Mango Margarita, all of which tasted of pure alcohol with no added flavors--different from what the menu suggested were in the drinks.   The cherry on this crap sundae was the so-called "customer service,"  which would be better classified as disrespect, and the staff member we were given, Amanda K (the front desk girl told us our servers name was Anna E. But my receipt says Amanda)., was shockingly rude and aggressive. She walked up to our table extremely annoyed and didn't offer us a pitcher of water, like the rest of that table had (a small issue but definitely noticeable because of her behavior that followed her introduction). We were asked, "What do you want?" Even though we were off-put by her cold welcome, we decided to order drinks. Mind you, we are all well over the age of 21 (I am turning 27 this year), and before my friend could even finish what drink he was ordering, Amanda very disrespectfully cut him off with the most aggressive tone, demanding, "You're all going to need your ID's out." If she bothered to notice, we were all holding our wallets in anticipation of showing them. Even though she was rude, we replied, "Sure, we'll get them out," and as we're pulling them out, she seemed like she thought we were bluffing and said, "OKAY?! Go ahead" and put her hand on her hips. When she checked our ID's, she began stumbling over her words, realizing that we were all, in fact, over 21. She mean-mugged each of us as she checked our ID's; she "double" checked two of our ID's. She didn't even apologize for how horribly she treated us, and I wish we had just gotten up and refused service because the food and drinks were just as terrible. Overall, this was such a bad experience that I felt the need to write this. We tried giving the benefit of the doubt, but truly being open for a week could never justify Anna's appalling behavior towards us. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this establishment. Staff retraining is required at a minimum. read more

We had reservations on a busy weekend night, so didn't have to wait too long. Perch was buzzing, it was great to see the community supporting a new business! Staff moving quickly meant arriving to very wet, freshly wiped seats & table (I struggled to find something to wipe the bench down so I could sit -- but yes: am grateful that they clean between seating!). The hurried pace also meant having to ask for water and silverware several times. They are still finding their groove in some areas, but are on their way. While they don't know the menu well yet, they were willing to find answers directly from the kitchen, which was helpful! Although unmarked on the menu, there are several gluten free entree options, which is great. No real dinner options for vegetarians/vegans. If I could give NO star, I would. DO NOT COME HERE. I am born and raised here, and I travel often so I know good tricities service/food. Any food truck in downtown Pasco will be better service than this place. This was by far the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. For the first time, I was DENIED from moving to another table. We had made a reservation for four and were sat by the door and asked to be moved only to be denied because our server did not want to serve us over there. It was too far for her liking to seat us in a booth. On top of having to run to the bar everytime we wanted a drink, we didn't get waters until 30+ minutes of being seated. One of us ordered the steak and eggs only for it to have been less than 4 oz and gone in 3 bites. The drinks were not strong, the food was not flavorful. Why on earth would you try to gentrify or modernize street tacos by smothering them in sour cream, avocado sauce, and hiding them under chopped tomato, but with NO CILANTRO OR ONION?? Terrible. The flan was liquid and pudding textured, absolutely disgusting. Everything in this place is unappetizing and unauthentic. It is a disgrace to be even associated with Latino culture and whoever owns this joint needs to figure out why their staff and servers are so disrespectful. Just to add on to it, there was no toilet seat liners in the facility, no paper towels, and barely any soap. Absolutely would never recommend. DO NOT COME WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! My "freshly pressed" cucumber margarita tasted like pure syrup and my partners espresso martini had layers? And not mixed with ice cubes in it? Ordered a bottle of wine to end the night, the server walked by 6 times, not mentioning the bottle (20-30 minutes later) and seemingly avoiding us. While enjoying a view of a jeep drive through the parking lot with green lights and a pedal board behind it. We ended up cancelling the bottle of wine and going home. The chorizo queso with chips was good. The service to start was good, but had to ask for a napkin, silverware and salt (that's what made the queso good), then petered off to almost being ignored. We came on a Saturday during normal dinner rush. Our wait was about 20 min for the three of us. We waited at the bar and were served promptly with some delish drinks. The restaurant is relatively small for the interior however its ambiance is clean and pleasant to the eye. I enjoyed the placement of faux cacti and the lighting was mostly natural at the time of our visit however it was bright. Our table was ready within the quoted time and we were promptly greeted by our server. We were able to order in a timely fashion and the food arrived with good timing of our apps and then meals. The regular guacamole was beyond delicious. Perfectly done in our opinion. My husband and his friend also tried the queso dip, however it was disappointing. It lacked the flavor from any spice and peppers. Our server checked on us after the apps arrived. We were content, and then seemed to disappear only to arrive about 20 min after our meals were delivered. Had we needed service, I'm not sure what we would have done. I enjoyed my chicken tinga tacos, good flavor and presentation. My husband enjoyed his lime shrimp(I can't remember precisely their name) and our guest found his chicken al pastor dry and wanting. Overall it was a pleasant experience considering the newness of the place. I'm hopeful these kinks will be remedied as they have more experience being open. Great potential for sure! read more
