Like this place a lot! It looks recently renovated or redesigned: it's very trendy. Too bad it was empty when I went but that just meant that the bartender was more attentive to me. My wife and I went in for a drink and my wife ordered a martini. Couple of things, the bartender was looking up how to make the martini on his phone, made the martini and then proceeded to dig into the huge jar of olives with his bare hands, then set it down on a crooked coaster so it spilled all over, didn't offer to clean it up or apologize. My wife felt the glass and it was warm. She asked if he could just shake it with ice to make it cold and he did, but also re-touched all of the olives with his bare hands to put back into the martini, and then served it with two straws. All the while he kept running his hands through his hair... my wife never touched the martini, we paid and left. He was a super nice guy but he should know better etiquette when working as the bartender of a nice hotel bar and for sure should know how to make a martini as its a staple drink. I'm writing this review based on my takeout order for a dessert and their customer service. I've eaten here for Red Lion's breakfast buffet and the only comment I can say regarding the look of the restaurant is that it's trendy looking and that the chairs in the restaurant are very comfortable, although they don't look it. There is a bar area and lounge area which are separated from the dining area. Nomad is located within Red Lion - Columbia Inn, where I was staying at for a few days. I was craving for dessert, cake to be specific, so I went on Nomad's yelp page to inquire on what they served. There is a picture of the menu on yelp but it is outdated. Imagine calling in requesting takeout order for tiramisu and the person on the other end says they haven't served it for a very long time? Red Lion's website mentions the restaurant and their hours but they don't show a menu either. No menu in the room as well. Anyway, the person on the other end read off a list of the desserts and I went ahead and ordered their most popular dessert: chocolate raspberry cake (I forgot the actual name). I told him that I had a room in the hotel and that I would be down to pick it up but the person on the other end stated he could deliver it to my room free of charge. I highly recommend you order this if you are eating at Nomad. The cake was large enough to save for the next night. It had two layers. The larger layer had a cheesecake/mousse like consistency and the bottom layer was a regular chocolate cake. It was heavenly. Suggestion: If possible, place a menu in the hotel rooms, or have a menu on the Red Lion - Columbia Inn website, or have a separate business website showing menu (hence the four star review). read more

I tried Nomad Lounge with our Martini Social Group last night. I think the outdoor seating is great! I love the fireplaces in between sectionals. Inside they have some very modern furniture. Reminds me of a bigger classier White Buddha. The live band was pretty good. I'm excited to see more bands in there. I did not have the food however I had an age before beauty cocktail which was delicious. Chessa waited on us. She was upbeat, friendly, and just a really nice person. Thanks so much Chessa, I know big groups can be stressful at times. In time I know this place will be great. I definitely plan to frequent this lounge. I have tried to give this place many chances, and it doesn't consistently hit the mark. There have been times (2) where it has hit all the marks, and others (4) where it has missed every one. Beef tallow fries and lounge decor are pretty much the only the thing I can say is consistently good. The low lights have been long wait times for food, food not cooked as ordered, and ordering filet mignon and being served a cheap cut of roast. So if you want to just have cocktails and fries in a lounge atmosphere, this place is for you. If you are wanting to have a good meal and service, this may not be your top choice in the tri-cities. read more

We (3 of us) went to Nomad Kitchen and Lounge for lunch. We love the modern furnishings, recorded music and spacious dining-drinking area. We enjoyed the craft beer selections and lunch entrees. I waited for 15 minutes before the waitress brought my menu, I had to ask for a napkin after my salad had been served, and I asked for a my drink twice. I ordered pork belly and my friend ordered salmon. My friend's salmon was overcooked because it was plated too early and waited for my pork belly to finish. The "double" drinks are hardly singles. Will I be back? Yes, because I am hopeful that things will improve. I believe in the local food the restaurant promotes and the Tri-Cities needs the type of funk Nomad offers. Highly disappointed. Food was bland and we had to wait over an hour to get it. When we ordered desert they were out of everything. I have any reason to go back. Went back and still disappointed. Service was slow and food was ok. Not busy but for some reason the bartender rarely checked on anyone and I kept seeing people have to get up from there table to get a drink. read more

Through all the changes of the hotel name and owners ship Cavanaugh's has stayed about the same. I can only comment on breakfast, but have always found the service to be good and the food a decent value and quality. The downside is that they dropped any local choices and now follow the standard Red Lion menu. You will find the same menu at all the other Red Lion's which is a shame as they used to have some local flair. It's generally quiet place for breakfast and a good place for a meeting in the mornings. Though I don't drink coffee one of the people I go to breakfast with often does, and they just changed their coffee, they were less then impressed and didn't have seconds. read more

Surprising find! I ate here for a week a few months back, sampling the menu to take it all in. The current chef supposedly trained under Christopher Kostow at his Meadowood three-star Michelin restaurant. That being said, you can plainly see the pedigree - the obvious care, dedication, and passion she is attempting to breathe into the place.... the owner's as well, at this Red Lion establishment, certainly do have an idea in mind that they are trying to achieve. I am hesitant to say much negative of the place, as it is apparent the cultivation of a fine gastro pub is in the works - much thanks to the chef. However, there are certain drawbacks that place my consideration for this "pub" as mediocore. Principally: Management has final say on menus, design, atmosphere, etc. I certainly don't know the management, but do know the restaurant is owned by Red Lion Hotels...which one can assume owes a certain inflexibility toward their corporate perspective. A chef is allowed a beer from a patron. Especially if earned. Cooking is thirsty work, an artist; thirstier still. "Brigade" is hit and miss. No doubt an artifact of locality -It must be difficult to find good hands; but I feel the chef ought to put more care into ensuring proper technique with her staff. I have had the same meal prepared and have had night and day experiences. This can only be the blame of differing skill levels of the staff at the time the meal was ordered. A more watchful eye would fix the problem - This is difficult for me to say as I've had some fantastic dishes at this establishment...prepared properly. Without the proper attention to detail, the dishes are left flat, uninteresting, and quickly devolving into a "chain" restaurant experience. I cannot give high praise for such an experience.... This juxtaposition of corporate interest and a chef who certainly has the ability to rise toward preeminence - it needs to be sorted out. More freedom of expression, or simply "carte blanche" given to the chef... I doubt this is possible. I hope to follow this rising chef as she attains a positive future. The direction is clear, but perhaps the path would be easier if she took it alone. read more

Great lounge spot for after work or the weekend. Great drinks and menu. Have not tried the full service restaurant yet but have had some good appetizers and trying the taco Tuesday tacos today. I like that they have live music regularly and a nice outdoor seating area, this will be great for summer. Much improved since its initial opening. read more

On the basis of prior reviews, I was ready for a great broiled salmon dinner tonight. But, alas, it was not. The atmosphere was challenging--a construction worker convention raised the noise level to 8/10, where 10 is "totally deafened", but fortunately they left midway through our meal. The waitress was inexperienced but pleasant and attentive--no complaints there--but the food was disappointing. The large dinner salad that accompanied the entree was pretty but difficult to eat, as the greenery hadn't been torn into bite size pieces. The salad dressing seemed to be mostly oil, and had little taste. The salmon was adequate, the veggies tried hard to be special but weren't, and the rice was orange, over-cooked and tasteless. Why orange? To match the salmon?? No salt or pepper on the table, but they probably wouldn't have saved the rice anyway. How disappointing. I'll think three times before coming back. I enjoyed having dinner with my friend, but not because of the food. read more

Nice remodel on this hotel lounge and restaurant. Ate here on a Wednesday evening, and it was really empty. Specially cocktails are tasty but a bit small for the price (but tout fresh ingredients). We sat in the lounge . Service was good. Food was very good, truffle fries, salmon with saffron rice, Caesar salad, fettuccine Alfredo and dark chocolate mouse cake and Gelato for desert. Food prices very reasonable for the quality. Overall, I think they have a great concept and menu here they just need to spread the word! We will be back! read more

This was my first time at the new Nomad, and I went with a coworker for lunch. I gave it 2 stars for reasons to be explained, but with some attention to detail and basic cooking practices this place could be 3-4 stars (for 5 a complete seating overhaul would have to be done). Initial impression is not good, no direct path to the door, no sign over the door in fact, dirty entry way covered in cobwebs, and once inside it was not better. There is a short hallway headed towards Nomad with no signage at all, and you pass by a portion of the old Cavanaugh's (which appears to still be in use, not sure what is going on there). The decor is minimalistic meets faux industrial, which I've seen done well other places. But the seating, OH THE SEATING! I am not sure who came up with the table layout and floor arrangement but as a business owner myself I can assure you they would have been fired based on the rendering alone. For someone to let this awful concept go into production is tragic. There are no booths but rather half tables with square footstools to sit on, and 2 of these half tables in what would typically be a single booth. The 6 "normal tables" (yes there are only 6) come with high seat, no back, bar stools. Just uncomfortable and awkward. At least half of the square footage has coffee tables or no tables, not sure how they plan on turning that into income. And the outdoor seating is just as bad, all low coffee tables with no where to sit and eat a proper meal. Where we were sitting I spent my time staring out onto the patio through disgracefully dirty windows. Our meal consisted of 2 starters, san marzano tomato sauce with meatballs and black bean humus; 2 mains, PNW fish tacos and crab burger; and a blood orange creme brulee. Humus was bland as anything I've been served, and the meatballs were neither good or bad just meatballs. Both dishes were nearly crying out loud for salt and pepper, neither of which were provided on the table (this move takes some serious pretentious stones, and this chef has fallen woefully short of the presumption that his seasoning is perfect). Crab cake was the best I've had in 3-Cities and just genuinely fantastic. Could easily be served anywhere in Seattle. The bun was a poor pairing, but the tallow fries were spectacular. The fish tacos were nearly rockstar, if they had used half the salt in the blackening seasoning it would have been perfect. Excellent cook on the fish and all the house made sauces were spot on. It's a real crime to call what we were served "creme brulee". It was way off balanced blood orange pudding with soggy almost taffy consistency sugar on top. The acid was so harsh I could only handle a few bites. This was an odd mix of strike outs and homeruns. I will certainly go back for round 2 but sadly based solely on the exceptionally confused lobby masquerading as a dining room space, I do not see Nomad having much lasting power. read more

The Reisling was delicious, the waiter was mediocre and the food was less than I hoped for. The French onion soup was ok, my husband's Cesar salad lacked dressing, my Philly cheese steak had no cheese, bbq beef and soggy fries. My husband ordered the meatloaf which required about 10 glasses of funky flavored water due to being so salty. Don't waste a trip. There were 3 others drinking at the bar and no one else except for a nasty female and her companion standing two feet from the door blowing cigarette smoke in our face as we exited. We won't be back. Very hip spot to have happy hour. We loved it here! They even have electrical outlets with USB ports to charge your devices at the table. The Irish death was $4 a glass and tasted nice and cold and had good flavor. The food looked and smelled delicious. We were only there for beers this time and didn't get to try any food. They have a taco Thursday with $3 corona and $5 any tequila. And they have a couple other pretty cool specials during the week too if you are looking for a nice place to check out. It was nice and toasty in there too coming in from the cold. Glad this place was a new check out for us. We will be looking forward to returning! read more

Nice environment but the service WAS HORRIBLE. Not only were we ignored when we arrived but no one ever came to get our order. After 30 minutes (we were socializing) we finally were asked if we wanted anything, then 20 minutes later our wine arrived. The bar was not busy but no one ever came to see if we wanted anything else. We had to call someone over to get our tab. I think the only reason they are still open is people in the tri-cities don't have to many choices. If i was management there I'd shake it up, very sad :-( read more

I had heard nothing but great things about the spot and finally got to check out the newly remodeled restaurant and lounge....so beautifully contemporary, and chic. Much needed in the Tri-Cities! Their craft cocktails are unique and delicious and the food menu is awesome....a ton of fresh, healthy and locally sourced menu items. I had the charcuterie plate, which I really enjoyed. They also have a great local wine list...which is always a bonus in my book! Service is great and friendly staff Definitely recommend! And their HH goes til 6pm read more
