The Cedars at Pier One had become The Locker, a pirate themed restaurant and bar that had its opening recently. We went with a group of five. We sat outside in the bar area and waited 45 minutes before the owner came to get our drink order. About 15 minutes later the waitress came over and apologized that she didn't know we were her table (there were only 2 other tables seated out there.) It went downhill from there. The drinks were pictured on the menu as it was a "takeover" for a local distillery. When asked why one of the drinks didn't look like the picture the waitress said, "we don't do it that way." The owner came over later and corrected that. Another drink came out with a fruit fly in it (it's summer, it happens) but she took it in and literally came back out with the same drink. The appetizers were fine but took 45minutes to come out and were not worth the money. The best part of the evening was the company and the summer breeze on the patio - other than that, I'd rather walk the plank than return, which is hard to say because I'd heard good things about the place and hadn't been before. We had to go find our waitress to cash out as she was telling us to have a good evening. We had to remind her that we hadn't paid (even though I kind of wished we didn't have too.) I think the owner is well intentioned and I'm hoping we just experienced the growing pains of a transfer in ownership and theme. read more

Great service, and excellent filet mignon. A beautiful view of the Columbia and the two bridges. The bread rolls were great. The clam chowder was okay, it was nice to have a soup but we were most excited about the main course. There's a nice variety of desserts too, the mud pie was our favorite. The crab wasn't great so I wouldn't add that again, but would definitely come back when we want a good steak. read more

Love Cedars - always have great drinks, appetizers, large salad bar, soups & dinners. When the weather's nice the deck and seating along the river is great! Inside has great views of the river too. We ate here with a large party for a birthday recently, and while the view was beautiful from our semi private room that looked out on the river, most everything else was disappointing. The best part of my meal was the Bloody Mary (seriously the flavor was amazing, so bomb), and the salmon artichoke dip. The dip was delicious, and the little bread crisps were the perfect texture. However, as a lover of oysters I did not enjoy the oyster shooters or fried oysters at all. The flavor just seemed off. I ordered the seafood Alfredo, and was so disappointed. There was no flavor, and the seafood bits just really didn't taste real. I love seafood and was looking forward to the signature smell and taste of crab, shrimp, lobster, and there wasn't any smell or flavor. I even added some butter to the dish trying to make it taste like something... no luck. Ultimately I had 3 bites. When I spoke to our server about just not liking it at all, she graciously took the cost of the pasta off our bill. I was really excited to try this place and was overall just disappointed. I won't be returning. The service was wonderful though, we have several Spanish speaking only and two children in our party and everyone who helped us was patient and kind. read more

This place is perfectly set up for success with it's spacious floor plan and river/water views - but the food is just not good. The service is actually pretty good too. This place must survive on people who can't taste the difference between mediocre or even bad food and great tasting food. If this place literally just copied half of the Denny's menu, it would be an upgrade with a terrific view. Great service and the best ribeye steak I have had in years. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare, just like I like it. The quality of their butcher was wonderful too- just the right amount of marbling, as stated it would be within their menu. My daughter's salmon was perfectly cooked also. The view overlooking the river from their deck was beautiful. Very enjoyable to watch the salmon jump out of water. read more

Choose to go to Cedars for our anniversary, we got there just as they opened, thinking of having a nice dinner and enjoying the view from this river side location. But even though we were one of the first customers in the door, we were seated in the lounge, in the well next to the fireplace, thus no view. It appears this is how they treat most if not all couples, for by the time we left the lounge was filled with couples, while the restaurant side was all but empty. Therefore, if you wanting to enjoy your dinner with a view, make sure your party is at least four. Salad bar was fresh, but it was spares, simple and very unimaginative . Dinner rolls, one each, good but again seamed to be a little stingy. Shrimp cocktails, while the did say in the menu that it would only be four shrimp, but didn't say they would be grilled, for one who is use to fine dining, Shrimp Cocktails typical have U8 shrimp, not 21-26 at $15 per cocktail. Ribeye Steaks, $55 each for an 8 ounce steak, again pretty stingy, medium rare came out nicely cooked, my wife's well done was burnt, and both were very salty, then the knifes were about as sharp as butter knifes making it a minor struggle to enjoy. Bake potatoes were great, but their choice of bacon bits, very salty. Lobster tails, were very, very good but at about $10 an ounce . . . Service was fine, as we finished our dinner, our server inquired whether we wished for desert, which we declined and she promptly said she would bring our bill. The bill was printed in a small (maybe 8) font, I had to use my phone to see the total. On the drive home I had this feeling, one bar drink (the most reasonably priced item), plus the items discussed above, there appeared to be an extra item they had billed us for. Sure enough when I got home with a little more light, they had charged us for someone else's "Halibut and Chips" ($20). When I called, I was first told they would issue me a "gift card for our next visit" I declined saying we didn't go out that much, (and particularly another 20 minute drive to Kennewick). He inquired where we were seating so he could take a look at our bill . . . that was two days ago, and still no credit issued to my card. It appears that "making a buck" it the prime motivation for this establishment. Needless to say we won't be going back, and if you are looking for a nice place to have dinner as a couple, you won't be going there either. read more

I enjoyed everything about our dining experience here. From the manager who seated us to the young man who brought water to our server Ally(sp) the whole staff was welcoming and friendly. I will start off with the service. When I first came in I mentioned that I thought the music was a little loud and I wanted more quiet the owner turned it down to accommodate me which I thought was very nice. Kassandra was the server. She made recommendations that were spot on. I ended up with the crab cakes and the early bird special sirloin steak. I started off with the clam chowder which was similar to what I would find in New England, Creamy with clams and potatoes in it. The crab cakes have a lot of crab in them versus filler and I thought that the sauces that they were served with were a good blend of sweet and spicy. As I mentioned I ordered the early bird special sirloin steak. It was cooked medium rare the way I ordered. It came with a baked potato and clam chowder as an option you could get a salad bar. I thought for the price it was on target and the steak was tender and the big potato was large and came out nice and hot. The ambience was nice as I had a chance to look out at the river. Excellent service, friendly, attentive. The food prep time is based on when you go to the salad bar so you can take your time and enjoy the amazing view out the window of the Columbia River and the suspension bridge. However our appetizer did not come out until after our food but we were told the new chef did not know how to prepare it and that it would be taken off our bill and it was. The salad bar was fresh, with many options, cold plates and lots of dressings offered. The plates came warm with our dinner and the food was very good. Temperature was perfect and the side selections were mashed, baked or pilaf. We got mashed and they were good, baked came with my request of toppings on the side which were bacon, butter, sour cream, green onions. My halibut was perfect and great seasoning. Hubby got King salmon and he said it was delicious, my son got salmon bearnaise and he loved it and had extra to take home it's a large portion. Our water and drinks were refilled often. I really like the Clover Island area and enjoyed sitting on the patio being able to watch the water and the boats go by. It looks like this would be a great stop off for some boat in dining. This is great on a warm sunny day, but I bet inside is not too shabby on a colder day either. The patio is fairly large, but if you are not wanting to wait to sit outside there is also a large dining room and a bar area. I'm not typically a fan of the food at these type of places as they don't tend to be vegetarian friendly, but this one surprised me by having an all you can eat salad bar and having it open during covid. For 11.50$ I had my fill of salad for the first time in months. The salad bar does not consist of anything out of the ordinary, but it was just such a refreshing choice. Currently only one person is allowed at a time, with no line being allowed to form and you are supposed to hand sanitize both before and after. My partner seemed to enjoy what he had, but I can't recall what it was. I'd come here for happy hour if I lived nearby. Our server was great and very efficient. I walked in about an hour before closing (8pm) and asked the server who eventually greeted me, who works at a restaurant on the water with a good view from their patio, if the patio is open. She said the patio is closed but added that now that the sun was setting and it had cooled down she would ask the manager if I could sit there. The manager didn't get out of his seat but said to ask a different server if they would work the patio. That server said if they let me sit there, then everyone would want to. Yeah, no kidding. You're a restaurant with mediocre to lousy food reviews taking advantage of having a nice view. If everyone (paying customers) would want to sit there, why tf wouldn't you let them? That's kind of the unwritten contract between customers and tourist traps like this - we'll lower our bar for getting to enjoy a nice setting. The server then offered a seat at the bar. There were multiple tables open by the window, so I asked if I could sit at one of those. She said no. I asked why. She said you need reservations. I said ok, so can I just call you and ask for a table by the window in two minutes? She said no, it has to be 24 hours in advance. I asked why, since there are open tables and they close in an hour. It's not like those tables have a different menu for which the chef needs to go buy stuff in advance. She said you can sit at the bar or eat elsewhere. I chose option 2. I'm optimistic that next time I'm in the area this place will be closed down and the location will be opened back up as something worth stopping by. read more

Easter Sunday, 2023 at 4 o'clock five of us ate dinner. Earlybird salmon dinners. Salmon was moist fresh tasty baked potato dry. on the other salmon dinner, the rice pilaf was good. Another dinner the seafood fettuccine was really good burger and fries. Good .halibut was good fresh very small piece of halibut. Presentation on the dinner plates could've been better. The chairs were falling apart. They had to give me another one looked like there were some other ones in the restaurant that were falling apart. It smelled old in there. We have enjoyed Cedars for years, but our recent visit on 7/9/2023 was extremely disappointing. The 20 oz Biergarten Pork chop was overcooked, in fact rather toasty and dry on the outer parts and virtually raw in the middle. OK, so everyone has a fail occasionally. You couldn't really tell there was any Biergarten sauce baste on it either. But the showstopper was I got 4 tiny "baby carrots" about 1 1/2 inches long and not even as big round as my pinky finger, like you get in the poly bags at the supermarket for snacking or salads (my wife got 3) and a small ice cream scoop of garlic mashed potatoes. - For $34.95!! Unfortunately, Cedars has gone downhill. Won't be going back anytime soon, if at all. read more

First of all the restaurant probably has one of the best views in the Tri-Cities. The water is absolutely beautiful. The waitress seemed very friendly as well. Unfortunately, the food and the managers/cooks left a whole lot to be desired. I got the early bird special which was soup/salad/ and a roll. At first I asked the waitress if I could substitute the soup for a potato, as I do not like clam chowder and am somewhat allergic to shellfish. Whoever she talked to wouldn't allow it. I was shocked, I knew they had potatoes as an option. A plain potato would be cheaper than a bowl of soup. I went ahead and ordered it because I love salad bars, and the salad bar was just okay. It had just basic stuff, cheese, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers. There was not any pizzaz or house made pasta salad. So, overall I paid $29 including tip for Salad, bread and a cup of wine. read more

I left a review on their website with this information and the owner responded with, Its whipped butter, then deleted the post. I know what real butter taste like, being a cook myself. I'm feeling a bit sad. This used to be one of my favorite places. We have not been for a little while but when we went tonight I ordered my old time favorite. Sea food Alfredo. It used to have heaps of fresh crab, shrimp, and I think scallops in a creamy sauce. Tonight it was very watery. Had mini canned micro shrimp that tasted fishy in it and had more black olives in it then sea food. It used to have more sea food then noodles. Lol. They changed the chutney recipe and it is no longer as good as it was. There rolls are still good but have shrank in size. Lastly they got rid of the powder doughnut cheese cake. It still has an awesome atmosphere with a view of the river and our server was super nice. In short its no longer worth the money to us. read more

What a romantic atmosphere! This place is waterfront and the building is made of all wood, it's so spacious. The drink list is awesome, many different martinis, specialty cocktails, and a huge wine list. My husband and I got multiple drinks, the trout and cheese platter, crab cakes, and the seared tuna. Yum, all of it was to die for delicious. We ended the evening with tiramisu and creme brûlée. Great service! read more

Had a special night here with my boys. Food was great. The staff was very helpful and always checking in on us. Ambulance is always great. You can't beat a river view table. Only gave 4 stars because the price was high, especially for three people. I will be back just not as often. read more

Walked in through the door at 8:05pm and they wouldn't seat us cause they close at 9pm...... I guess gone are the good old days...
