I've been to Cedars several times over the past 6 years and each time was progressively worse. We eat out often and not only was this the most expensive meal we have paid for in Tri Cities (and we splurge on food) - but the food was sub-par at best. Terrible presentation, sloppy, poor quality. We were among a total of 3 tables in the restaurant, but still took 20mins to even get our order taken. Super slow service. Uninterested, maybe? And yet the busser, was way too much, he came by and interrupted our conversation literally ever 3 minutes to bring water or clear plates. Better training would solve that. Just quietly refill waters instead of interrupting every time they walk by. As someone who's worked in fine dining for many years, I have a lot of grace and patience for servers, but this was literally just, "meh". Ensuring we had a great experience was clearly not her priority. Slow, sloppy, EXPENSIVE and "meh". For how much we paid, we expected quality everything, we got nothing notable of any quality. Finally got to visit for dinner since the change in ownership. Sure, there are some slight differences here and there, but it still "felt" the same. We start in the lounge like we always do, and our waitress was fantastic and even offered to get our name on the dining room list (asking if we preferred booth or window!) after we were done with our happy hour drinks and an appetizer. Dinner was just as good as we remembered, although we both had seafood (crab and Ahi), so I can't speak for other dishes. Salad bar was good as ever, and clam chowder still the best in town. Tonight my wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. We were engaged at Cedars 20+ years ago and often spend special occasions there. Due to the Stay At Home shutdown having dinner out was not possible, however we were able to get an incredible dessert from the take out menu and enjoyed it while sitting in the car and enjoying a wonderful view of the Columbia River. It was AWESOME! The Mud Pie made the day and we cannot wait to celebrate with a nice dinner here in a few weeks when things open back up. read more

We recently decided to sample the fare at Cedar's for a special night. We sat in the bar seating, then moved up to a more intimate end of the bar. From being able to sample the best pork chop, to eating an appetizer, salad bar, tenderloin steak, full baked potato and oooh the wine recommendations.... We just had a horrible experience at this restaurant mostly because of a server named Kimmy. As the only people of color in the restaurant, the poor treatment seemed very racially motivated. Visiting from Los Angeles, we were looking for good drinks and food, and our experience was very disappointing. This person spoke very rudely to the table and had a very abrasive personality. She later, for no reason, snatched a glass of wine out of my friend's hand as she was going to take a picture. Then after asking for a manager, she brought the owner who apologized and said the she was sent home, but she remained in the restaurant. In the end it wasn't worth it to sit there and order food which was overpriced and even the owner did not recommend, and multiple items we ordered were unavailable. So after the underwhelming drinks and horrible service, we decided to not eat here. One server named Sierra was however nice to our table. She was the only pleasant part of this experience which is why it's worth mentioning. read more

Some things just never change. Cedars was our "go to" places prior to "the fire". After that...the place went to pot! We have not been for years! "Wow! New owner! Let's give it a try." Dang. Sat in the lounge, had a trainee server. They're short handed, the "trainer" also had her tables to serve. Waitress took our menu before we ordered. Had to bring it back. We had no utensils, fork (only) arrived as I returned from salad bar. It was taken with my plate. Wait time was extraordinary long; judging by other people being served who had ordered after we did. NO! Nothing special or exotic on our order. When it finally did appear, everything went to pot! 1. I had no utensils. Server brought water, still I had nothing with which to eat my steak and potato. 2. My "rare" steak was lukewarm and well done! Baked potato barely luke-warm. Finally got knife & fork. Pity. The cold cremated meal looked more appealing than it tasted. Manager came to our table! Very nice lady! Quite consolatory. Comped my disaster of a meal and placated me with dessert offering. However we received no check, so finally approached front desk to check out. We encountered The Owner. I was quickly set straight "she's my manager, I'm The Owner!" Gotcha.... His behavior made me feel we had erred by not eating what was set in front of us. He was not the least apologetic. After time with manager, we still planned to return in February for a special occasion. After encountering The Owner...probably not! Darn! So many good years of going here. Sitting on the deck watching sunsets, nachos and rum barrels. We knew it got sold and hope it would stay the same. Tried to go in and go the deck like we have for years, I guy stopped us said in no uncertain terms WE WILL SEAT YOU! Let him know we just wanted to self seat on the deck , said they have to seat us about as rude as you can be. Then told us decks full, 0 customer service. I asked for the owner, thinking maybe the employee just needs to learn some customer service, he told me he was the owner. If the owner cares nothing for customer service, I doubt employees will. The new owners of Cedars are doing a fantastic job keeping this place alive amidst Covid and the lockdowns that have forced restaurants to only offer outdoor dining in the middle of winter and takeout. We went to watch the "unofficial" lighted boat parade. Which we look forward to every year. Cedars is right on the water so the view was perfect! It was a very cold night but they had propane heaters at almost every table we were lucky to get a spot. They were hit by a huge rush to watch the boats leave the dock but our waitress and the owners were running around doing their best to make up for it. As for the food, we ordered a lot of appetizers and it all came out hot and delicious! I recommend the smoked trout appetizer, mozzarella sticks or crab cakes. All soo delicious! We didn't have entries but have before and they make a really great steak, fish is also on point, you can't go wrong! This is an extremely hard time for locally owned small businesses and they are doing their best to keep their business alive by offering outdoor dining and takeout. On a night like tonight if they were able to offer inside seating they would have been able to feed over 200 people, sadly that is not the case right now. Go show your support and don't be snotty if you have to wait a little longer because it's worth the wait! read more

Everything was amazing, the first time I had the crab cakes, clam chowder, and seafood pasta; the absolute best seafood pasta I have ever eaten! We've been coming to Cedars for the past 4 years and have never had a bad thing to say. Family came to town tonight, so we took them out to dinner at Cedars. It was a C-. The Alfredo sauce was different than we've had in the past there. It was runny, and did not taste good. Plus way to many vegetables in it. The prime rib was a C, not flavorful, and the au jus was also flavorless. Plus they got rid of Pepsi and only offer coke products now. The creme brulee was burned, and not edible. We weren't impressed and kind of embarrassed to bring company there after raving about it. It made me so sad! It used to be my favorite place. Please please fix this Cedars! read more

We have ALWAYS loved coming to Cedars - until tonight. We were a party of 8 and had reservations. Before we left, there was only one other table in the WHOLE upper section so you cannot say you were busy. Here is our experience: The GOOD. The busboy was on point. Had a great attitude and was funny. We loved him. The BAD: The server came and got our order. She didn't seem busy. I was never brought out the clam chowder I asked for before the main course. I was offered the soup (after I asked) when I was given the main course - unacceptable. What am I going to do with it after my main meal? One other person in our party requested bread that came with their food - twice. Never got it. I asked for a Rum Barrel - twice. I finally got it moments before we were going to leave - unacceptable. WTH. I had to chug it because everyone else wanted to leave. When we got our bill, as usual, they added gratuity for tables over 6 persons (I assume). So Cedars ASSUMES we got great service and we should pay their employees extra money for the services provided? We DID pay YOUR gratuity BUT we were NOT given the service OR even the things we paid for. On the way out, our server was just sitting in the bar section. Now I know why we never got what we paid for. Needless to say, I loved Cedars for years but we will never come back again. We will support another local restaurant that makes sure customers get at least what they pay for. NOTE: I have NEVER left a negative review for a restaurant. We just moved into the area from the east coast for my husband's job at Kadlec. I called to make a reservation for a family celebratory dinner and the gentleman on the phone was so incredibly rude and not helpful at all so we didn't even get as far to make a reservation when he told me that there were reservations available. We are planning to live here for years to come and I was really looking forward to trying local fine dining but Cedars will definitely not be on our list to try again soon. read more

We've been going to Cedars for decades and have almost always been very happy with the food, drinks, the service, and the atmosphere. I was feeling bad for the new owners having to deal with the Covid nightmare so soon after buying such a great restaurant and was anxious to return. Finally got the chance to go back, even though the outdoor seating was the only seating available. We were meeting friends there and they were a few minutes behind us so asked for a table for 4 and were promptly told they would not seat us until the other couple arrived. When I respectfully pressed the hostess and the new owner as to why we had to wait in the waiting area until our friends arrived I was bluntly told they wouldn't seat us at a 4 person table because if our friends didn't show up there would only be 2 of us taking up a 4 place table and they weren't going to do that. So we waited the 5 minutes for our friends in the lobby, while in the company of a couple guys who, in spite of the sign on the front doors, were not wearing masks as required, and had obviously come from a boat at the dock, and were waiting for their take-out order. When our friends arrived the waitress seated us and said their refusal to seat us before our friends arrived was "just the rules". I asked, so what about the rule that everyone had to wear a mask in the lobby? She asked what I was talking about and I described the two unmasked guys sitting in the lobby. She said she'd check on that... even though she was in and out of the lobby the whole we'd been sitting there. She apparently went back to the lobby and told the two guys that we had complained about them because a few minutes later they walked past the deck area heading back to their boat and one of them felt the need to mock us as they walked by calling us names and pretending to cough on us etc. Obviously this could have been handled better by the waitress. All that aside, we ordered, what used to be a Cedar's signature drink, a Long Island Iced Tea that has always been great, but it just wasn't the same anymore. It tasted weak and watered down. We all ordered their fish & Chips which was just okay and over cooked. Mozzarella sticks were pretty good though. To top the night off, the waitress walked behind us where there really wasn't enough room to pass with a tray full of dirty dishes and an oyster tray and ended up dumping a bunch of oyster juice all over the floor and our legs as well as all over my wife's very expensive designer purse, with hardly an apology and no offer to wipe the mess off her purse. All in all a very less than impressive experience. The new owner was not dressed professionally for the owner of a fine dining restaurant, and in my opinion didn't conduct herself very professionally or with a "customer First" attitude, and that seemed to trickle down to the wait staff as well. Not impressed. Good but not what it should be for the $$$. The premier drink (44 north on the rocks) was very slight. Had the blackened Mahi Mahi and was bland. Didn't hit the Wow factor by any means. Salad bar was still good. Owners need to step it up a few notches if they are to survive. read more

Overall everything was wonderful. The staff was excellent and so was the food, although the ahi tuna could've been seared a bit more. It was definitely more rare than medium rare but still delicious! This is a classy establishment however the wine glasses were worse than I get at my local dive bar. The wine glasses were dollar store quality which is disappointing when being used at a 5 star restaurant. The tri cities only has two real fancy restaurants in my opinion and this is one of them, please step up your stemware game to be seen as such. read more

So glad Cedars is still open and offer their standard menu. My husband and I came here last night. I had king crab and a baked potato and he had the ahi tuna with a baked potato. So hard to find places that still offer baked potatoes anymore, so we are grateful they still do. People who cannot do dairy like us, cannot eat the latest "garlic mashed" served by other restaurants. The lighting was just slightly brighter than earlier days, but by no means glaring. I ordered a martini and the server, Zach (who was awesome!), was attentive enough to place the olives on the side so as not to spill a drop. We both are allergic to dairy, and our server gave us plenty of olive oil on the side for my crab and our potatoes. Lovely evening on the water in a warm and familiar place! read more

I called today to make reservations to watch the Christmas boat show and have a nice dinner. We love the Clam Chowder here. A lady by the name of Kim answered the phone and was very Rude. I asked to make reservations for Saturday night and was told they are booked and are taking reservations and adding them to a list. Ok that was fine I understand that. But I then said "I tried calling yesterday and no answer." Kim response was "Well did you call during business hours?" I said "yes, I did. I also messaged on Facebook and was told to call back and leave a voicemail." Kim replied "you should of left a voicemail." Snarky tone the minute I said " hi I'm calling to make reservations for Saturday night." . I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor. Kim replied "I'm that person!". I said "wow really? That is very sad." It went on. I understand people have bad days. But this is YOUR job to answer questions people have. And answer with a professional tone. I work in the medical field and get ask many questions and yelled at. But I always reply professionally and with no snarky tone. Said that a "Boss" is that rude to their customers.
