Went for a late lunch and beer. Bartender was attentive and very friendly. The burger and tots were tasty. Prices were reasonable. There were regulars there and it made it feel like the usual neighborhood tavern. I sat at the bar as I was alone and felt very welcome and comfortable. I just took my family to Dax's to have dinner as we had been there the night before last and the hamburgers were fantastic. Today i took a party of 8 in for another round of hamburgers n drinks. Same people except we had 4 more. (My daughters n their families.) The waitress came over for orders fr drinks n food and she looked at our daughter (who had her service dog n her permit) n refused her service. No reason why. I asked her why n my daughter offered to show her dog service permit. But she refused to even look at it, all the while she was smiling. We got up to leave n people from the were laught n throwing insults about the service dog n told us to go drink elsewhere. Oh well the lost out on a good $200. Ticket. I told everyone i'd never go there again regardless of the burgers. I am telling everyone. read more

After seeing a couple of burger-raving reviews of this joint, I had to make an appearance. I originally planned to call in and take out my burger, but as I arrived at the bar in the early evening, I decided to stay. There were a few people here--all at the bar. The super nice bartender (who I later found out was also the cook), welcomed me in and I told her, "I think I'll stay a while. Can I have an Alaskan?" I grabbed a table, watched the b-ball playoff game, and listened/watched the early-evening bar crowd. I of course went with a burger. When they said they made their own chips, I had to order those as well. So yeah, the draft brew and the meal were the perfect remedy to end the day. And yeah, I have to second Joe & William's 5-star ravings and say that my burger was pretty durn good! And to top it off, if you're going to frequent this place more, use the "Burger Card" they hand out--to get a free meal later. Take a gander of the photo I snapped of my meal, and just watch the slobber molecules roll down your face. So, I would say this is a pretty nice bar (not as divey as a dive). I saw a stage inside, and I've seen crowds here on the weekend, so their must be some live music on the weekends. I liked how the bartender greeted a new customer, "What can I get ya that you don't really want, darlin'?" That's just plain perfection. Solid 4-4.5. read more

We moved here after we'd exhausted our desire to stay at Three Margaritas. It happened to be singles night (bring your own guitar!) and the music (live) was really, really loud. The prices were pretty reasonable, though you should note that it *is* the kind of establishment that serves PBR forties and if you order a water it shows up in a bottle for some reason. If it hadn't been so loud, it would have been a pretty decent place to hang around on a Thursday night. The waitresses were both pretty cool...maybe I don't go to the right places, but I hadn't seen anyone in TriCities with so many tattoos or piercings before. They had just refinished the outside of the building, so everyone was forced to use the backdoor and catch a whiff of Thompson's waterseal every so often. Think of this as the long version of William B.s review. In short, Dax's has the best burger in town. I have no idea what they do to make such great burgers. They have a slightly seasoned flavor and are always cooked perfectly. Home made potatos chips are another plus. The big bonus is that the burgers are cheap! Two stars because the bartender was horrible. The woman refused the serve my friend, who was dead sober, because he wanted to pay cash. What???? This made absolutely no sense to me. The line was basically out the door because the service was sooooo slow. I rated an extra star because the karaoke dj is awesome! I sang Radiohead and played the guitar. Dax's *used* to be a great place for lunch.. they had a great, simple cheeseburger and fries special; made well and very fulfilling. Now, however, all specials are gone and the food preparation is very slapdash. I ordered a grilled ham, advertised as "1/2 lb of ham on a toasted bun". What I received was a hamburger bun with about 5 thin slices of ham. Fish-n-chips were 4 little pieces of breaded cod, but was mostly breading. Sadly, this has been crossed of the places I recommend for lunch. read more

One star is way too nice. I was in there today 7/28 at around 230 and 3, I was there with a party of 8, I had my service dog with me a full 2 pds. She wasn't wearing her sevice vest due to the heat but I had my documentation if I was asked. I didnt get a chance to sit down however, others in my party has order drinks, she came up to me and was not quite and very rude and said she couldn't serve me, I asked here why? She kept saying she had the right to refuse service to anyone I asked if it was due to my dog and I said I had my medical card and she said i has to leave. No one at the table paid for their dri ks and she said that was fine. 8 of us got up and left and went to Azteca. I had come from the hospital from seeing my dad from the hospital and had no alchohol prior to going there. Your staff may have permission to deny my service but she discriminated against me due to my service animal. The law states I cant be denied service due to my service animal. In the way out the door one of you regular alcoholic said we needed to read the law. You may want to go over federal law with your employees. read more

Terrible layout/floor plan. Terrible owner. I will not support Dax's/Uptown/Parkade/Tye's ever again after hearing about the sexist, discriminatory nature of the owner from soooooo many people. I can't believe these bars are open. Their food is okay for dive bar food but the bartenders are super rigid when the owner comes in and the clientele, the regulars especially, are all a**holes. I've been harassed by multiple clients because they thought I didn't deserve my girlfriend. The bartenders and owner don't do anything to reign in their customers when they're risking brawls unless it might involve a problem with the liquor board. Go ANYWHERE else to get a beer/mix drink. Steve the owner is the worst owner I've ever heard of and his employees clearly hate him because so many of my friends have quit after working there for a little while because they were harassed, demeaned, and even threatened by the owner AND clients (I've personally known someone that had to quit because he owner wouldn't ban a client who stalked an employee). I never leave these kinds of reviews and hopefully people that aren't aware of this problem can choose to not support these four bars as they all feed the same owner. Go to the Gaslight, Sams, or even Denny's for a superior bar experience. read more

The food is good and the service is ok. They use to have karaoke and live music a few years ago. The place was a fun place to go to with friends. Well now they don't do that and decided to try a sports bar theme. It's a joke with five small tv's. The place has no atmosphere and people will come in for a drink and leave. We never went to DAX Bar & Grill because I had no idea if it was safe to visit with my wife. My son was down from EWU for Hydro weekend and he and I went there for a beer and burger.... no problem.....it's a typical old town Richland Bar with the locals playing a lot of pull-tab games..and throwing the losing tickets on the floor..... it's dark inside with black walls & ceiling .. has a small corner stage and dance floor, with ~twenty round tables with four (tall) chair set-ups..... food was typical mid-west-bar fare and was average... the bartender loves to make noise throwing away the empty beer bottles ... and that was cool .... I will be back with my wife next time. read more

My boyfriend and I were deciding where to get a burger and I remembered my trusted yelp reviews saying Dax's was the place to go. I had passed by several times too afraid to go inside for fear it would be a dumpy local dive bar, but I was pleasantly surprised! The place has the cutest patio that I never saw due to the direction I always drove down Lee. It was about 6:30pm on a Saturday evening and there were a few people at the bar. The music was pumping and the furniture was nice. We enjoyed THE WORKS burger and a bacon cheeseburger with fries and potato salad as sides. OMG the works is the way to go. It was so big I could barely fit it in my mouth, but I made it work ;) This is definitely not the burger to eat if you want to look cute or are on a first date, but DAMN if you aren't afraid, try it! I could see us making this a usual spot as I noticed they had Jenga out, two pool tables, and what looked like a space for live music. Thank you Dax's for blowing my mind! read more

This is your regular, run of the mill dive bar. I love it. They had a band playing when we stopped in, a pretty good one at that. Dax's is cleaner than I remember, perhaps it's newly renovated? Anyway, I'd definitely recommend it for a place to grab a drink with friends and perhaps watch a game or listen to live music. The burger had no taste and the panini was over cooked and the the pasta salad was sitting in some kind of soup or water. I have an idea......how about the bartender NOT turn down the volume on the songs she doesn't like that the customers have paid for? Every friggin song she didn't like she turned the volume down, and turned it back up for songs she and her friends liked and/or purchased. I think I might purchase and play some fucked up song, via the Internet when I'm not there, over and over and over just to prove a point. I went in to see my favorite band. Everyone was dancing up a storm. The band and the fans were putting on a great show. The band would break and folks would go outside with the band and chat up a storm near the outdoor fireplace. I asked for a bottle of water. They had three female bartenders which is far better than the usual one who cooks alone till closing. The crowd was huge and they were stressed, not a smile to be had while servicing the crowd who formed a line in front of the bar to get drinks. No one ever came to our table and checked on drinks. I waited in line at the bar and asked if they would fill up my water bottle. Absolutely NO I would have to buy another. I asked for a glass of water and didn't get that either. I begged and got a refill. Then one came to my table and took my bottle without asking me. My friend ordered eggrolls. She waited and waited and had to go check. They smelled like strong fish and she went outside and fed them to her dog in the car. The bathrooms are awful and no paper towels. I will stay at the Parkade in Kennewick where the help smiles, is friendly and keeps my full quart jars of water coming for no charge. I tip for water! read more
