Salad bars that have a great selection to choose from so on a recent trip to Ricland WA, I was extremely excited to find Sterling's salad bar. Not only was there fresh tasty salad items but they had several homemade soups to go with it. I had tomato basil and it was fantastic! You could pay to go through once for around $14 or unlimited for around $17. We were fine with once so it was agreat value. Wait staff was very good so it was a very nice dining experience. The menu here is massive! almost a little overwhelming at first glance, but I do appreciate how many options they offer at a reasonable price. It feels like there's something for everyone, and I liked that most entrées let you customize your sides. Tons of choices, from various potato preparations to different pastas. I ordered the smaller portion of the salmon (seasoned and cooked to perfection) with pasta and a cup of tomato soup. The pasta tasted like it had a heavy dose of "jarlic" & overall was a bit too salty for my taste. My husband had the hibachi chicken entrée with fries and clam chowder. He thought the chicken was a little dry, but otherwise okay. We came on a Monday, so we took advantage of the half-off appetizers and shared the nachos which is definitely a nice bonus. I'd give this place a 3.5. The food wasn't quite a hit for us this time, but the restaurant is clean, has a great atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Enjoyed my experience @ Sterling's. It was 100' feet w/in my hotel, opens at 6a, and great reception upon arrival. Love the menu with SO MANY options. In spirit of the recent Super Bowl winner Philadelphia Eagles I enjoyed Philly omelet with a side of fruit. The fruit arrived and had to ask if it was at an extra cost with the amount received. No added cost, and WOW on the amount received. Service was on the ball and never had a cold cup of coffee. To boot I had a beautiful view of the sunrise over the Columbia River. Sterlings Restaurant has always been and always will be one of my favorite restaurants and I've eaten at MANY over the years the quality is always top shelf and the staff from bussers to servers to managers are always friendly and with a smile at the ready !! What a wonderful restaurant! We chose to eat inside and still had a nice view of the river. There was lots of artwork to enjoy, and the place was clean and beautiful! There were lots of menu options and our food was delicious and plentiful. The prices were fair and the service was excellent. I wish I could remember our servers name because she was very friendly and very attentive. Our out of town guests raved about the place and want to go back next time they visit! Don't order online unless you have time to spare. I ordered online and arrived about 10 minutes after the time the website message said it would be ready. I then had to wait an additional 20 minutes in the lobby to get my single meal order. I questioned the manager and he said it happens all the time because of some problem with how orders are transmitted, or some such excuse. Ridiculous. read more

2 of the same pasta dishes ordered came out different one the way it should be and the other was over cooked very little sauce, the tru tip steak was over cooked and very gristly, my granddaughter's pasta was supposed to be Alfredo pasta came out butter noodles and my son ordered Parmesan garlic fries with his burger it came out with no Parmesan or garlic on the fries and the burger was 2 patties but looked like one small one and the buns were falling apart. My woman and I have been eating in dis joint for the past three years and nevah had bad grub. It has always been great. Yesterday was a BIG change. I ordered the Codfather which I have eaten many many times. They give yas three pieces of cod. One of the pieces I was served was thin as a dollar bill, wayyyyyyyy overcooked and not edible. I've thrown away frozen fish sticks from wal-mart that were better. The other two were super overcooked and on a scale of 1-10 maybe a 3. Maybe less. I had spaghetti as the pasta side order. Dat my friends which they brought to my table was NOT spaghetti. The thin sauce was obviously from a jar or made by a dumb bunny. Probably both. I didn't eat it. The salad was ok if you'se like a big ass chunk of iceberg lettuce on yer plate and old used up carrots. But, the salad dressing was fine. My woman had the salad bar and said it was decent. When we dusted outta there my frail told the check out women about the so called "meal" we had. They said they have a new food vendor and their cook is learning to cook the food from them. Bah .. a cook cooks. The one in Sterlings is NO COOK. It helps if any food is fresh and decent at square one, I will give yas that. But a bad cook won't make good ingredients edible. They simply destroy it. 45 bucks plus the tip for unedible food. Nah .. once bitten twice shy baby. We won't be eating here again ... not ever. Nor will my pals. Life is too short to pay for bad food prepared by cooks who should be engaged in some other occupation. Maybe changing flat tires or something. C'mon, who hires a bad cook and blames a bad meal created from a bad food vendor on the bad cook not being skilled enough to make the bad food edible? read more

This was a pretty unique menu! I saw the salad bar as we walked by it when we were seated and it looked delicious!!! I ended up getting the one visit salad bar which came with a HUGE dinner roll and a cup of soup. The hubby got a jalapeño burger and as you can see from the photo... a whole jalapeño sliced on top!! He asked for a medium well burger patty and sadly was given a dry very well done burger. He took a few bites and threw the rest out. I am giving a 3 star because the salad bar was really diversified as well as their soup options! The server was kind and on top of keeping our drinks full... she has a great personality and was very welcoming! The restaurant was right along the waterfront and has a beautiful view. Sterlings has a cute atmosphere. They definitely need a bigger parking lot since it is so popular. We got lucky and got a spot as someone was leaving. Otherwise you have to park on the street. I ordered the crab crepes and they were horrible. Every single bite has crab shell in it. I understand those things can happen but it honestly had so much shell it seemed like someone just threw the whole crab into a blender. My boyfriend loved the all you can eat salad bar. read more

We ate at the queesgate location today, Sydney was our server. The food was great. I had the salad bar ( I have been to some that plain just suck) and my wife had the chicken stips.The fries were diffrent that what we expected but very good. We both enjoyed our food. This was a great spot for breakfast, inside for a break from the triple digits in the Tri-cities. We started with a round of fresh mimosas with huckleberry and ended with Green Tea shots made by our outstanding server, Les. The Sterling breakfast platter was a table favorite and the fruit plate was fresh and crisp. Afterwards we walked along the river for a short while with drinks to go in hand. I look forward to returning and trying more dishes. There were so many choices for food on the menu that looked fantastic. Very upset! We took our family out to eat to one of our favorite restaurants yesterday, we have 4 kids. The kids usually do well at restaurants, but yesterday our daughter started to cry and no matter what I did she would not calm down. The insensitive manager, I believe (he never introduced himself), came up to me and told me that multiple people have complained about my daughter crying and me not being able to calm her. Then he walked away. Our waitress on the other hand was amazing. She brought my daughter fruit to help her calm down. And she apologized for what happened and told me she had a child and understands. Went based on hotel staff recommendation. Ambience is nice. Restaurant is clean. One server for 6 tables. Really nice young lady. Placed an order of artichoke dip with or drink order. She came back later about 15 minutes and we placed our dinner order - kids fettuccine, 71 burger with mash and gravy and spaghetti with Italian sausage. Whoever is managing the back of house needs to do a better job. Salad came out first, no appetizer. Kids fettuccine came out next, 15 minutes later the appetizer came out, followed by the burger after 10 minutes and another 15 minutes the spaghetti came out. Hubby said burger was good. The kids fettuccine came in a metal oval platter - had to move it to the ceramic plate so the grandson could eat without burning himself. The spaghetti.. what a nightmare. About 1/8 cup of sauce. Sauce had no flavor or seasoning, basically tomato sauce and some diced tomatoes. Server came by for another customer about 15 minutes later -we asked for a side of sauce as the pasta was dry with the amount of sauce presented. 15 minutes later she brought my husband his beer. He asked about the red gravy, she said oh ya. Brought it - still no flavor. Thank goodness there was ketchup on the table. Added that to the sauce and it made it 10,000x better. The best part of the meal was dessert. The chocolate cake is PHENOMENAL! For $130 not worth it. Denny's new menu has better burgers for a better price. Props to the server.. not a busy night, but she was running 6 tables on all ends of the restauran and it's a large restaurant with a full bar. read more

Cara was beyond amazing!!!! We have 2 kids under 2, so eating out can be challenging to say the least so we hardly ever go out. Last night we decided to try going out to celebrate my birthday. Not only did Cara not mind our kids, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. My son even let her hold him and held her hand which he never does for anyone but us, so that was incredibly special! She was so helpful with everything and was so incredibly kind and patient. We had the best date night dinner with the kids that we have ever had thanks to Cara. Thank you so much for making my birthday dinner so special! Salad bar well stocked, most looked fresh and appetizing garbanzo beans were not drained or rinsed just poured out of a can will gooey/slimy bean juice, peas were of various colors from green to tan/yellow. The vibe of the restaurant is casual with kids everywhere and yet the walls and entryway are a little more ornate. The menu has a good selection as well as the all you can eat salad bar. Yes, an actual salad bar in a restaurant and I pretty good one at that. You can upgrade a side salad to an all you can eat salad bar for 7.99. The food was pretty good and plentiful. The service was attentive and kept the glasses filled and questions answered. This is a place might look expensive from the outside but the menu is very reasonable. Minus any stars! If this company can't afford "the cost of doing business" ie: accepting credit cards: like other restaurants, cafes, and food trucks, they might need to rethink their business plan. Passing on their % fee back to the customer is as shoddy as when they formerly tried to get us to tip their kitchen staff as well as wait staff! Sterlings is always looking for sly underhanded ways to squeeze their customers. Their food isn't that good. Be aware of what you're paying for!! Since moving into their new building at the same location, they also seem to have improved the food considerably. I agree with the reviews that call them "hit or miss". Whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you can have a really great meal one time and the next time not so much. They were slow to adapt to COVID, but seem to be emerging well enough as things have started normalizing in mid-2021. Their breakfasts are the most consistently good offerings and their dinners the least so. Pros: decent food at reasonable prices; great river views from most window seats and patio; much nicer feel than previous digs; good hearty breakfasts; never much wait ever. Cons: Service is hit or miss; dinners can be an adventure in inconsistency, stay mainstream on the menu and you should be fine. read more
