I like both Sterling's, Sterlings on the River and Sterlings on Queensgate. However, I enjoy Sterlings on Queensgate much better. Their food and service is very good, the cooks do a great job. I have a veterans group that has breakfast there every other Thursday. The cook gets out 35-40 breakfasts and the waitresses know what everyone wants from memory. Brandi does an excellent job, she is very good and spends most of time keeping our coffee cups full. The staff is very courteous and efficient. Thank you Queensgate. Don Wicks Richland

We dined in for breakfast for our visit at sterlings. We were greeted with friendliness and taken to our seat quickly. The menu is large and plentiful. The food came out fast and hot and yummy. The restaurant was decorated nicely and the lights were dimmed which was nice. Our server was wonderful and shower friendly as well. When we come back to the tri cities we will be back

I always want to like Sterlings. The one along the Columbia at least has a fabulous view. The staff was attentive and mostly welcoming. Enjoyed the large booth. The wings were so freaking fowl. There's no words for how gross they were. First off they aren't wings, they were sliced chicken breasts. Flavor was supposed to be garlic Parmesan but in reality it was Italian dressing with mozzarella and it was truly inedible. Flatbread flavor was good but the bread itself was like bread jerky and so so so hard. Was excited for the salad bar but the lettuce was limp and many of the veggies were off. The peas looked more brown than green. I went up once but was charged for all you can eat. Family always suggests Sterlings and each time it's incredibly underwhelming but this time I left starving and feeling queasy. Please don't make me go back.

I love this place! I went for the first time yesterday (I'm from out of town) and had Wesley as our server and he was absolutely amazing! He seriously didn't forget a single thing, he took his time to explain anything we asked, he brought out plenty of rolls, was so patient with the kids, and our table with so many people. He was so kind, laughed at our dumb jokes, and we really enjoyed him. The food was amazing, we all loved the salad bar there is so many choices. We loved everything we ordered. There is many drink choices as well. We will be in town again soon and will be bringing the rest of the family with us. Thank you Wesley for the absolute best service, because your smile, kindness, and patience we will be back and ask to be seated with you again. :)

The food was very tasty and plenty of food and the homemade ranch dressing was my favorite part hand down the best I have had. The service was great our waitress made sure to check on us and brought anything we needed in a promptly manner. The ambiance was nice you have a view of the Columbia river and the booths provide privacy for your dinning experience I highly recommend this place.

I went to Sterling's tonight, 1/30/2024 and ordered the #11 (butchers cut) medium rare with the salad bar and a loaded baked potato. Let me just say the service and salad bar were great. My steak on the other hand was overcooked and dry. I hate to be that guy that sends stiff back but I sent it back. While I was waiting I ate more salad bar and requested that they wrap my steak to go. Well, the second steak came out and it was wrapped up and package to take home. Again the service was great and pretty quick. Once I got back to the hotel room I opened the steak up and checked it and it was overcooked again. The steak was dry, I think it was overcooked because it was very thin and a steak that thin is almost impossible to cook correctly.

We had a reservation and were sat pretty quickly by the hostess. The hostess also took our drink orders and brought them to us. That is where it all changed. We were quite hungry, and wanted to order not only dinner but an appetizer as well. We waited and waited and waited and waited. There were plenty of servers, but none would acknowledge us. We kept raising our hands and trying to get someone's attention to serve us, but no one would make eye contact with us. Other tables were getting waited on (about 6), but we weren't. Thirty minutes in, we joked about about driving to Carl's Jr and getting served would be quicker than here. We were about to give up when my partner was finally able to get someone's attention almost 40 minutes in. This is where our experience all changed again. Lo and behold, our saving grace was Jimmy, the chef. We didn't know he was the chef, we just wanted to order. He had the best attitude and took care of us the rest of the night. He apologized for the lack of service and waited on us promptly. We were able to order more drinks, our appetizer, and dinners through him. As soon as he got to the kitchen, Lacey then started to check on us the rest of the night. She apologized for not waiting on us earlier, she (and everyone else) had thought we were already being waited on because we had wine. Jimmy and Lacey were attentive to us the rest of the evening. So much so, that we didn't want to leave. Jimmy's positive attitude was so infectious and we absolutely fell in love with him. He (and Lacey) apologized for the mis-hap and comped some of our dinner such as the appetizer and the wine, I believe. Jimmy took the time to explain his culinary experience, and personal goals... we had such a great time getting to know him. Regarding the food, it was all amazing. He did such an amazing job. We loved it all so much. He then recommended a desert, also free of charge. He treated us so well. We came back another night with a gift for him, but he unfortunately was not working. We hope to see him again and hope you get your food cooked by Jimmy, as well. If you're lucky enough, you may also get served by him and get to know him. Food: Amazing Service: Not great at first, but made up for exponentially The second time we visited, we were served by Lacey again. We did not get the same experience as the first time.

Then food was ordered. The server went around the table, but again had to be reminded that she did not take orders from everyone. About 30 minutes after the order was placed some salads came out, but not all of them. Then entrées started to arrive again for some people, but not all. The last three individuals to get their food were served around an hour and 15 minutes after the order was placed. I ordered the chop salad and the bruschetta appetizer. The chop salad had very little salami or cheese as described on the menu. The bruschetta was actually bread slices, not toasted, with a soft cheese spread and raw mushrooms. It was not very appetizing. My husband ordered the pasta carbonara and both of us, after one bite, described it as incredibly salty. We are huge carbonara fans and have ordered it at restaurants and made it at home many times. He picked out the guanciale and left about a third of the pasta because the salt level was off the chart! If we had not waited so long for our food already and been just the two of us, we would definitely have sent the pasta back. Much better restaurants in the area. Hopefully they get their act together because the location is awesome.

We usually order the full meal and try different meats during our meal. I really enjoy the grilled pineapple that is served during the protein service. Some cuts of meat are superior to others and some have seasoning that I enjoy and others - not so much. But that is what is great about this restaurant, you can just say no to the meats that you don't want or cannot eat and get a double serving of what you do like. The beef rib (I believe it is a boneless short rib) is divine. The service is spectacular. The two servers who were working our table, Omar and Callie, were very friendly and informative. They both ensured that we had a nice experience for my birthday. I also heard occasional laughter from the kitchen which was nice. Happy people who are enjoying themselves makes for the best teamwork. We'll continue to go back when we want a treat.

In reality, it's a raw cabbage taco with a hint of fish essence--or perhaps a cabbage taco with a fish surprise, if you're lucky. After she gave up and ate just one, she brought the rest home. I actually measured the piece of fish inside: a staggering 1.5 inches by 1 inch. That was it. One single, tiny nugget per taco, buried at the very bottom of the shell. Because of this, you have to choke down several mouthfuls of completely raw cabbage before you finally reach your single bite of fish. To make matters worse, that one bite of fish was terrible. They apparently brine it in a way that leaves it aggressively, unpalatably salty. While the menu claims the taco comes with "slaw," it is just heaps of dry, raw cabbage. There was so much of it that you couldn't even see the three corn tortillas until you went digging through the vegetation. The sheer lack of seafood in a "signature" fish dish is appalling. Save your money--unless you really, really love overpriced plates of shredded cabbage.
