Ordered the artichoke dip along with the plantain chips/guacamole and they both were very good. The reason for my 3 star review is because when I ordered the filtet (medium) and vegetables, I received a 6 oz filet that was butterfly cut and overcooked. The ends were well done and the middle was medium well. The vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli and carrots) were also way overcooked and extremely limp. I asked my sever (who gave us very good service) if they always butterfly cut the filet prior to cooking. She asked the kitchen and was told that they receive the steaks already butterfly cut. That had me confused as I have never heard that before. But hey, it is what it is. Bottom line, if you are coming here for appetizers, sandwiches or drinks, then you will probably receive good food and service. If you desire the 6oz filet, then you are much better off going down the road to Ponderosa. read more

Hartford is full of surprises and this is just one of them. I have eaten here several times now... Each time ordering off the menu something needing customizing... And each time willingly complied with a smile never and never a "we can't !" Menu says lunch and breakfast only at certain times, but again they are willing to do what ever to make everyone happy! Today had the tuna melt and it was excellent not being your ordinary tuna and mayo. Tuna was mixed with capers, and lemon zest that made it pop with flavor. Super fresh, bread was buttered and pressed perfectly. It was another wonderful surprise from this little gem. Fresh, fast and friendly. The actually have real coffee and espresso too! This is place to grab coffee in town.... Hopefully they'll never be a Starbucks with in 20 miles of here! read more

I've only gotten coffee and takeout desserts here, but I'm a fan. I head up here sometimes to pick up fabric from the quilt shop next door and a bit of coffee or a to-go piece of carrot cake are a treat I sometimes give myself. It's a small, locally owned shop, so the coffee is just a wee bit expensive for my tastes, but not enough to make me not buy it. Expensive as hell for a rural sleepy town in the middle of nowhere.The décor is sort of cottage cozy, plenty of friendly staff, classic main street location. Nice they had an espresso machine and the Bfast menu was elaborate. Total breakfast bill was $38. Husband had corned beef hash, poached eggs on top, tasted weirdly like vinegar. Side english muffin toasted, but hard & cold. I had a bfast sandwich which was 1 egg, a skimpy bit of processed ham on a muffin, topped with American cheese. I could have had a better sandwich at a gas-station for $2. What are these owners thinking? When you're gonna rob peeps, pls deliver an above average bfast. read more

Awful experience. Ordered a Thai Chicken Wrap with a gluten free wrap for an up charge. When Lily our server asked about sides I said neither, what are your soup selections. I chose a cup of French Onion. Had glanced at the price of a cup of soup at 3.50. Lily said there would be un up charge. I said fine thinking I would pay less than 3.50. When the meal came out it had chips and a small bowl of soup. I did not want the chips on my plate at all. Not needing the temptation. When the bill came I was charged 6.95 for the French Onion. I went to the cashier/hostess and explained I was told there was an up charge and she offered 5.00 for a compromise. Asked for a manager and she went to our waitress who said she was the manager. She stated that she told me it would be a bowl and that they didn't offer a cup in French Onion. I said I didn't know that. She then informed me it was my responsibility to read the menu (which I was sharing with my co-worker because they were out of menus). Then she proceeded to insult me by saying that she had been up charging people for 13 yrs and never had a problem. And that she would let officers sort it out. I told her I wasn't paying for more than a cup of soup and she begrudgingly charged me 3.50. I have attached a copy of the check where she circled a c next to the French Onion and added it as an entree below my co-workers meal. Not in the up charge area with my GF wrap. Also included a screenshot of the menu where a bucket of soup is still less than the 6.95 she tried to fleece me for. Never an I'm sorry. Just" I told you it was only available in a bowl and you are paying for it". How can someone be so rude and in a customer service setting? My business partner and i were planning at stopping at the mineshaft after our business was taken care of in Hartford. We pulled up just north of the mine shaft and saw this place. Kinda cute. We thought it was mainly a coffee place but decided to try it figuring they must have some sort of lunch as they still open at 1:30 pm. They had a really big menu with panini, hand pressed burgers, lots of soups and mac n cheese dishes and a bunch of salads. I asked our waitress for a couple recommendations, she was glad to help. My partner and friend wasn't too hungry so he just had the spinach arancini appetizer. He got 4 (not 2 ) big ones with sauce for dipping. He gave me one. Very good. I ordered mac n cheese with pork and sweet potato. Yum ! I could only eat half of the large portion. The desserts looked good so I ordered a piece of chocolate cake and it was very good. Tony got the espresso Creme Brûlée. He took a bite and said "Wow ! " Tony knows good food and when he says wow that means something ! We both had americanos to wash it down. They were spot on. Really excellent food on the lunch menu. I had the Mushroom Melange flatbread which has a lot of well cooked shrooms and goat cheese. Also shared the poutine, which was pretty good but needed some fresh herbs or more flavoring in the gravy perhaps. Don't get me wrong - it was still delicious and we loved this as a lunch special app. We had a fairly large group for lunch (6) but seating was fast. Unfortunately it took quite a while for our meals. Maybe they were a bit busy or understaffed. Either way the food was good enough to forgive the wait. They also have a short kids menu with chicken strips, noodles, hot dogs and grilled cheese. read more

I am back home from California on a break, and my mom took me here for lunch one day. I have to say, I was really impressed. They serve Alterra coffee, which I miss so very much. I had an Americano which may very well be the best Americano I have ever had, and for lunch I had the Roma (I think- it was the panini with mozzarella, tomato, roasted red pepper, and balsamic), which was also very good. The atmosphere was very nice. It was cute and had either couches or tables that you could sit on. It seems like a good place to catch up with friends or do homework. It is also in downtown Hartford, which I thought was a really cute place. The staff was really nice as well. I definitely would recommend it. I don't give away 5 stars freely (it has to really blow me away), but trust me- its really good! read more

A party of 6 of us visited Perc Place in Hartford for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, given the fact that this is a coffee shop. I had the Reuben sandwich and I really enjoyed it. The others in my party also appeared to have enjoyed their food. No one complained about anything which, for our group, was a positive thing. What stood out to me was our server Victoria. She started out with a smile on her face and ended the same way too. She was extremely pleasant and polite and constantly returned to our table to check on us. Stopped in on a very busy Saturday afternoon and to my delight found a diamond in the rough. This place is amazing! Even with the chaos of the day, all of the staff I encountered were overly friendly. The food? I am happy to say was out of this world. I have had many a Monte Cristo sandwich and this was far and above the best. The plantain chips and homemade guacamole appetizer were delectable and my cocktail was superb! I couldn't believe all the waitresses nobody had masks gloves anything lots of people no social distancing I wonder if these people think that the virus just goes away. I love Perc Place. Great atmosphere with attentive staff. The sandwiches are delicious. The fish fry is the best in town, and they have my favorite onion rings anywhere. I do however have one complaint. This is dirrectly off of their menu. Corned Beef Hash $10.95 Crispy corned beef and diced potatoes topped with two organic poached eggs. This place is amazing. Their cream of asparagus soup is extraordinary. Never - EVER - have I eaten a cream of asparagus soup that actually tasted like asparagus. Though the soup was lacking a bit of salt, its overall flavor was mild, sweet, and the delicate flavor of fresh (not canned!) asparagus stood out brilliantly. The French roll that I ordered as an extra (a huge roll AND a cookie for only $1.65? awesome!) was hot, crusty, and pre-cut so I didn't have to fiddle around and burn my fingers. Quite possibly the best roll I've ever eaten. To be honest and slightly creepy, I can't stop thinking about it. The staff was exceptionally friendly and very attentive despite the rush-hour lunch. So get your butts to Hartford, people! read more

Unbelievably bad service. Granted, we were a table of 7 that arrived at 10:15 on a Sunday, so: prime time. But taking TWO AND A HALF HOURS from start to finish (45 minutes to get seated; 1.25 hours to get food, 30 minutes to eat and check out) for extremely straightforward uncustomized breakfasts was unacceptable. The server was completely overwhelmed by... our presence? No idea. The orders were not complicated but she seemed to be at a loss what to do. Each plate came out one at a time, with a lag of several minutes between. Some were crusted over, some lukewarm, and some perfect. Long time regular customer, not so much now that they've moved. Place has certainly gone downhill over the years. Anyways, came in for a specialty coffee drink to go (which are pretty good) but they served it in a styrofoam cup?? Like way to hate the environment. This is not the place to go for Sunday breakfast or brunch. We participated in a fun run in the area which contributed to it being busy. We had a group of 7 which from the beginning seemed to annoy and inconvenience the hostess. After being seated, nearly 40 min, it took time to get orders taken before even being offered coffee. After orders were taken it took more than 30 min to get our food. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and made at least 8 trips to the kitchen to bring the food to our hungry 7. Serving staff as well as hostess staff made no apology for the delay. More than 2 hrs later we left fed but also fed up with this place! Not sure if it was just a bad day. We LOVED this place! Our favorite part was the lack of masks worn by employees. We especially chose this place because people gave negative reviews about employees not wearing masks. :) That's a wonderful for us! It was so inviting and cozy atmosphere. The white chocolate mocha was delicious, the decaf coffee was great. Employees super friendly and service was exceptional. We will be telling everyone we know in the area to support Perc Place! When we arrived only my guest was acknowledged by the waitress Kiki? and asked for his drink order. When she brought the drink to him she said enjoy and was going to walk away when I spoke up and asked her to take my drink order also. Then another lady came and gave us menus and again only acknowledged my guest and said hi and asked how he was doing and ignored my presence. We finally got our waitress Lily who was very nice and polite and acknowledged me also. I ordered the 11 dollar quiche which to my surprise was only one slice with a small bowl of fruit. It was very good but very small portions for the price and I wasn't filled up in the slightest. I definitely won't be back. read more

Definitely a cute place. Love the old school yet chic design. Burgers were big and delicious. You could tell the frappes are homemade, every sip was bursting with flavor. Lily was our waitress and was able to describe the flavors of the different types of cappuccinos/frappes etc, which was great. I would recommend the Wisconsin burger. Although the food here was delicious, I just can't get past a few things. The prices being one of them. I got a piece of quiche and a fruit cup, my husband got a monte christo, my son had biscuits and gravy and my daughter had an order of bacon. Husband and I both had coffee too. The bill came to $45. I wasn't expecting to spend that much on a breakfast, but everything was delicious. The other issue I had is that we asked for a "to go" cup for our coffee. They wouldn't fill it up without charging us $0.50. Seriously? I just dropped over $50 (with tip) and you won't fill up my coffee cup? You just lost a customer over something that literally cost you less than ten cents. We won't be going back. read more

I want to be Perc Place's #1 fan because I'm frequently in Hartford to see my family, but I can't be. My first issue was with their inability to tell me what is and is not gluten free on the menu. Yes, they have gluten free bread you can substitute, but they won't tell you with certainty that any dish is gluten free. This is a bit frustrating since I don't think it would be very challenging to determine if their dressings have gluten in them so I could at least eat a salad in peace. I did eventually take the risk of ordering the vegetable hash, but it was rather dry and bland. Too many potatoes and not enough colorful veggies. The portion size was great; I couldn't even finish half of it. But for close to $10, leftovers were expected. The service also wasn't the best. I was sitting in the main coffee area and not the dining room, but I still shouldn't have had multiple waitresses pass me without checking up on me. I had to flag someone down when I wanted ketchup and again when I wanted the bill. The latter was annoying since my original waitress had known I was in a hurry and contemplating ordering carry out instead of dining in. I also never got a water refill which is hard to forgive for a camel like me. I will give the place another chance since there are very few options in Hartford, but it's going to take me a bit before I order anything other than coffee. ** To the kind person who sent me a message attacking me for this review, I am 100% free to give my honest opinion about a restaurant. Also, yes, I have reviewed the menu MANY times. There is not a gluten free section, and their employees do not know what has gluten in it.
