Street parking available out front! The space itself is pretty small when you walk in, but there is a couple of tables in the back. Ma and Pa diner vibes with casual staff that get you seated and bring out the coffee mugs right away! Our server was lovely during our entire stay. We aren't winning any aesthetic awards here, but the food hits the spot if you're looking for a simple, classic breakfast. I had the Daily Special which includes potato pancakes and sausage links! One of those truly local greasy spoon breakfast diners if ever there was one. Sandy's boasts being on Barton Avenue since 1995 & it's quite likely the interior hasn't been refreshed much since even before then. Sandy's is one of those diners, drive-ins & dives type of place. If you sit at the counter you can watch the short order cook preparing your meal. There's always a daily newspaper to read on the counter & old timers drinking coffee remembering the old days of West Bend or Barton. Sandy's offers a few lunch sandwiches, but really is a breakfast stop. Pretty decent portion sizes at reasonable prices. Remember your at a greasy spoon, there will be grease still with your hashbrowns or bacon. Occasionally that's the best way to have it. Family owned, old fashioned diner serving breakfast and lunch to locals. Tasty food cooked just right. We were looking for a new restaurant in the area and very happy with this one. Prices affordable and they aim to please with great service. Nothing fancy, but good traditional food! I was a little worried when the only surveys were from 2019, but it was a perfect small diner to bring you the breakfast you love. Coffee was good and although the coffee-cups are small, refills kept coming. Sandy does the cooking and she cooked our eggs exactly the way we wanted ( which doesn't always happen in restaurants). The food was not greasy (like so many other restaurants). We'll go back as we like to go out for breakfast and we're pleased with the food and prices. read more

The service was great. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. They even stayed open a little late for me because I got there not too long before they closed for the day. That said, it's not good when the toast is the best part of a meal. I know my expectations should have been tempered given the lower pricing of the food on the menu, but I was hoping for better than canned corned beef hash in my omelet. Sandy Barton's Cafe I've been here several times since moving to West Bend, what can I say. Even though the hours are limited as well as the seating the Food staff goes above my expectations. If you want proper Home cooking this is the place. It is rare that I even need to add any seasoning which is a major plus. For as long as I have been alive, my father has eaten breakfast at this restaurant 6 days out of the week, except when he has been out of town. I have accompanied him a few times, but have not been there for a few years. Since I was back in town over Christmas, I let him talk me into going with him this morning. This restaurant is EXACTLY the same as I remember it from my childhood days. It is a very small restaurant, with only a few tables and a counter. There are always familiar faces. For anybody who may be looking for a new place to try for breakfast or lunch, let me warn you, this is NOT gourmet food. This is like a small diner with your typical country/small town type of cooking. The menu does not offer the huge array of foods that most larger restaurants offer, but that is to be expected from such a small restaurant. Throughout the years, I have never had bad food. This morning I ordered a cheeseburger omelet with hashbrowns, which came with toast. The omelet was your standard omelet. The hashbrowns probably could have been cooked a little more, but were still good. The portions were good also. I could not eat all of my food. I probably only ate half of it. I'm sure that I'll be back sometime in the future, after enough pestering from my father. read more

My daughter went a la carte ordering 2 biscuits and gravy, a piece of french toast and coffee. Everything was very good. Probably my all-time favorite breakfast/brunch establishment. Sandy's is unpretentious, affordable, with a small-town vibe and has amazing food. I've eaten here regularly for about 2 years & have yet to have a negative experience. The omelets are amazing and the coffee is always strong. You know that local place that everyone likes to go to? Where the food is delicious and everyone is super friendly? Yea, well, this place is sort of like that. I would imagine that if you're a local and a regular at this restaurant than you probably don't think twice about the service because you're treated well and not looked at as an outsider. One Sunday after church my husband and I decided to give this place a try. To begin with, parking is somewhat of a nightmare. The place is super small, which is fine, gives it some charm I guess but it's super dated. There were several seats open which was a bit surprising considering that most places we have gone to after church are super packed. Our waitress was less than thrilled to be serving us. Made us feel like we were bothering her. The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. Prices were a little high for what was on your plate. We won't be back. There are many other options in the West Bend/Barton area to choose from that have better food and welcome guests whether it's your first or 100th time there. read more

It's doubtful there's gourmet food anywhere in West Bend, so that's not even to be expected. Aaanyway, Sandy's is great. Exactly as the previous reviewer said, your typical cute smalltown diner. So any out-of-towners hankerin' for the smalltown diner feel: this is it, the best in town. Sometimes there's a radio playing from in the kitchen area (it's sort of open so you can see them preparing food: sometimes the owner herself is preparing it). Old guys reading the paper in overalls on their way to work. Everyone knows eachother and you assume they do exactly this every day. My dad goes here all the time too. It's friendly, the food is fine, the waitresses are really nice. A little slice of Twin Peaks right in the good ol WB. I live in Milwaukee and wish there were someplace just like this near me. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it looked like it could be a hidden gem by the reviews but I was once again disappointed by breakfast in this area. After over a 30 minute wait once we ordered for steak and eggs I got a dried, tough piece of meat they somehow called a "ribeye." It was a 1/4 inch thick so I don't know why they asked how I wanted it done because a piece of meat like that can only come out one way; overdone. The rest of the breakfast was average and my guest had french toast which was nothing special. The menu is very limited too. There are some spots up North that just know how to do breakfast and I just can't find a place like them in this area but i'll keep trying... Because of the wait I don't know if i'll be back but on the good side our waitress was very nice at least. read more

THE BEST breakfast in the area. We've been coming to Sandy's for about two years now after a coworker told us about the place. The American fries are fabulous (be sure to get them with onions), and the sourdough toast is wonderful. The food can be a bit slow to arrive on a busy morning, but well worth the wait (Sandy is a one-woman show on the grill.) The scrambled eggs are always perfect -- moist, not dry -- and she'll stir in whatever goodies you like -- tomatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese...yum! Her biscuits and gravy are out of this world! The pancakes taste like they have a hint of cornmeal...absolutely delightful. The place is small, but only once have we not been able to score a table. While West Bend is quite a ride for us to visit a café, we decided it was a nice day and we would try Sandy Barton's Café. It is what you might call a "quaint" diner, where, if you lived in the area, you might visit quite often and become a regular. We were invited to sit anywhere and chose a two seat table off to the side. The menus were already on the table, and while offerings are simple, they also reasonably priced. Sandy Barton's offers daily specials too. Today they had a meat loaf plate with mashed potatoes, vegetables, your choice of soup or chili and salad. all for only $7.50. As we had a gift coupon for $10 (min order $20) we ordered the cheeseburger deluxe (waffle fries, salad, pickles) for $6.35. In addition, my brother ordered a bowl of the soup of the day (minestrone) and I ordered a bowl of chili. Both were very good, generous and obviously homemade. We both ordered sodas. The portions were generous and we enjoyed our meals. Service was good, although we maybe had to wait until some of the regulars were served first, but we were in no hurry. While we may not be back too soon in the near future, it is mainly due to distance and not the food! If you are in the West Bend area, we can recommend Sandy Barton's Café as long as you don't expect a large restaurant atmosphere, but a small town type dining experience. I was extremely excited to eat here after listening to friends rave about the food here. We arrived at 10 on a Sunday; a couple walked in after us and were asked first where they would like to sit because they were regulars( I say this because the waitress knew them by first name and they the same) We were then asked to go find a table in the back without a waitress. After we sat down, we ordered 2 oj and 1 chocolate milk and the waitress gave them and walked away without taking our food order. We had to ask for straws. My 2 kids got cinnamon rolls that were so dry, they were hard to cut. Then, we didn't get our food until 11:20. (remember we got there at 10!) I watched the clock on the wall. I also watched the cook make our food, and saw her lick her finger and pick up one of my childrens pancakes that came off the grille and on the counter and put it on the plate. Other people around us were getting their food way before ours came and they had been sitting down a 1/2 after us. My kids just got 2 pancakes each ( that were doughy) and I got the 2 egg special. Plus the place is a dump.I wonder when the last time the state inspector has been there?? If your not a regular don't bother to go. It's obvious who they cater to. read more
