Wow Peppertree Cafe is awesome. I came here to have a burger, fries, and a drink and it was one of the best burger and fries I've had in a long time with a really good price. First time here and I had a bad experience. The hostess was nice, but the waitress was very dismissive. It just kinda felt rushed when I was ordering. Anywho I order a protein scramble i think and asked if i would be able to do a grilled cheese instead of oatmeal and cottage and she said no. So I said okay whatever, and food comes out and the oatmeal is just very runny, like water so i didn't eat it and i don't like cottage cheese so didn't eat that and the eggs were mediocre. Honestly just didn't have a good experience. Mainly because the waitress was terrible at giving good customer service. Waste of $21.00. If I could give zero stars I would. My family and I have been going to Peppertree for 20+ years since it was originally owned by John and Dave. Now it appears Dave's son runs the restaurant and can I say it has gone downhill. I have never been so angry over a visit but we were just asked to leave because we were done with our food and another party was waiting. We weren't seated until 8:10ish and were asked to leave at 9:22. We were never told ahead of time that we had a time limit. The server first was rushing to clear the table and even took my nieces plate that she was still eating from. Then the server waited till we paid and left a tip to ask us to leave. Then I guess because we were completing our conversation and didn't Jump up as fast as she wanted she came back a couple minutes later to ask us to leave again. I have never felt or been treated so unprofessionally. I've been to nice high end restaurants and have never been asked to leave. It was rude and highly unprofessional. I'm not one to complain or leave bad reviews but when you are treated so poorly I feel it was necessary. There were many other groups that had been there far longer than we had and the entire back banquet section was empty so to just ask us is unbelievable. We were still sitting visiting with family we hadn't seen in 3 years and drinking the coffee we paid for. They have lost a lot of customers by treating loyal customers so poorly. read more

The lady that sat us at our table was very nice, she brought our drinks and said our waitress will be with us shortly. We'll it took lo ger than I thought. When our food was brought my hashbrowns were burnt. I ordered a side of bacon. Out of the 5 pieces 3 were cooked and 2 of them were way under cooked. Our waitress only came over once to see if we needed anything. When we left the lady that brought our drinks ask if she gave us our check. I said no. Instead of complaining about the food. I've only been there for breakfast and my advice is, show up hungry. Because the portions are for you to enjoy there but then there's the leftovers. On this day, you'll be working your quad's. So, remember to lift with your legs. There will be plenty left on your plate that you'll push away from at the table, as you think about round two. It'll either be later that day or the next. Till then, you'll be thinking about how you'll gorge on it once more if you can get it home. However, the battle will have just begun after you've paid your bill and tipped your server. I had the meat lovers scrambler with hash browns and refried beans. My wife had the burger patty skillet. Neither was impressive. Price was $37 with beverages. I asked for hash browns crisp but they arrived slightly grilled. The waitress didn't even ask, she just took them and returned my eggs. 10 minutes later the waitress returned with my hash browns. Of course by then the eggs were cold. The refried beans were so salty that I could not eat them. The burger skillet was flavorless and the patty burnt. If you just want filler without taste you're in luck. The waitress did a pretty decent job. She noticed that I didn't eat the beans so she comped me a cinnamon roll. She also offered garlic bread while I waited for my hash browns. I'll spend my money someplace else next time. read more

I've been here twice both after the restaurant opened up for dine in, and both times, I can't resist not ordering chicken fried steak with 2 sides. Both times, I actually got the same sides: potatoes o brien and pancake. This is probably because it's: 1) very delicious, and 2) the price is great. For $11.99 + tax/tip, you could feed yourself 2 large meals. Please do note I try to not order the same dishes, which I'm capable of in other places, but here, this one dish particularly stood out. I did try other dishes by sampling them like the breakfast burrito and french toast, but those are more a one time thing even though they're still solid. The chicken fried steak is quite juicy and the sauce is quite addicting. It's very greasy of course, but definitely eat this dish in moderation. I do wish the scrambled eggs are more over easy, as I prefer that and also, it will allow me to not overcook the eggs in leftovers. The pancake is super big: perfect for a great snack or a decent breakfast on another day. Unlike common diners like Denny's, this place is certainly of quality, and I don't feel disgusted after eating it even though it is very greasy per se. This is why this is quite a popular diner: even early in the morning like 10am you would probably need to wait a few minutes as it is full house. It's even more convenient that it is around Route 66, making it a very classic American atmosphere. read more

Peppertree cafe is one of few places where I do not get a Denver omelet, but for a good reason. Peppertree cafe has something that many places cannot replicate and that is: the. lumberjack. skillet. The one and only: lumberjack skillet review: Simply amazing. This is my order every single time and I will not be changing that. Perfect layering of materials, eggs always over medium, and cooked perfectly every time. Potato's seasoned well, with a large amount of bacon, ham, and sausage to create a wonderful masterpiece. On top of that, there is nothing better than ordering a lumberjack skillet in front of your friends and then being handed a literal skillet when the food comes around. It's the best. I visited Peppertree last year for a birthday celebration. I ordered blueberry pancakes and sausage. Turned out that the blueberries, sprinkled, wrinkled and tasting like vinegar, were few; also, the pancakes tasted like much baking powder was added to batter. read more

Love going here to get great diner food. Their mimosas are delicious and full of champagne with a dash of juice which is how I like mine. Everyone knows pepper tree in Glendora, it's a classic but to say it's gone down hill is an understatement. This has nothing to do with the waitresses because in my experience they are all very sweet and very attentive. Literally the staff is an A rating in my book. I just can't excuse the food anymore. Far too often the food is bad and even inedible. Fermented horrible smelling cheese is big at this place. I think every time I've gotten something with cheese here i can smell the bad cheese before they even put it down. Hash browns are either undercooked or over cooked, never in the middle. Burnt beans. Most of the food tastes like hospital food. I think they need new cooks or something. Use to love this place so it's definitely a bummer. read more

We waited for a while for the server to get our order. While waiting, we noticed there were flies flying around our table and glass window. Peppertree is now open for Sit-in/ Dine in! I have never been here before but I wanted to badly eat at a restaurant. From the outside the restaurant looks a bit outdated as well as the interior. I compare this place to a Norms and Denny, but the staff here are nice and friendly; all wearing masks of course. I opted to sit at the bar and enjoyed some traditional steak and eggs ($11) with an Arnold Palmer. The steak and eggs came with 2 sides which I ordered the hash browns and jam/toast. The condiments are packaged in individual containers except salt and pepper which I find odd. The food was more than enough and I did find it tasty. I will be coming here again! read more

Peppertree has long been a favorite of mine as the food and service has always been excellent. Since COVID we are selective as to the establishments we go to and we were pleased they have a patio. We were seated and much to our disappointment not a single staff member that had direct contact with the public had on a mask. It was so upsetting, I wanted to leave but those in our party were hungry and kept theirs on until they were served. I do not understand why the staff would not have on a mask, a waitress that goes from table to table customer to customer. I will not be returning and am very disappointed. Good family restaurant with great workers! We've been here several times for pancakes and waffles which are delicious. This time we had the chicken fried steak, which was the size of a shoe, and the Peppertree melt (sourdough burger). Both were solid and the fries were perfectly seasoned, battered and crispy.
