Went there at prime Sunday brunch time. We waited maybe 10 min before we were seated. They had a mimosa special and while it was crowded, we were offered a sample which was unexpected due to the crowd. The servers were fast and friendly! The amount of food for the price is unbeatable. Sadly had a horrible experience here today. We have been coming to Peppertree for well over 10 years. We always have great food and service. Unfortunately today was another story. It was noon. We were seated quickly and sadly forgotten. After 10 minutes the hostess came back and took our drink order. A waitress came over swipped her tip off the table without acknowledging us or even looking at us. Another 10 minutes went by, still no drinks and no one to take our orders. sat for an additional 5 minutes then we had to leave because of another appointment. Was very sad by the poor service. When we told a waitress why we were walking out she did apologize (she is very sweet and we have seen her there for years) Sadly we will think twice before coming here again especially during the lunch time. read more

Usually good for breakfast. I went for dinner and am very disappointed. My sister and I ordered Chicken tenders and received what looked like chicken nuggets. I asked the waitress if it was a kids meal given to me and she gave me a funny look and nodded "no". After I told her I was displeased with the three microscopic strips on my plate, she proceeded to tell me basically that this is how it usually is. I go out to breakfast frequently (over last 7 years). I have visited numerous restaurants. I love that Peppertree allows you to chose "two sides." A breakfast that is 10 or 12 dollars at Peppertree would be 15 to 17 anywhere else. It is definitely the "biggest bang for the buck." There are cheaper restaurants. However, their menus do not have the choices or portions. Their is nothing you can't find on this menu. There are so many choices, you are sure to be pleased, regardless of your preferences. I love this place for breakfast...steak & eggs is what I normally order...the ctry fried steak is also good....my son gets the lil pancakes, but I don't think they come with huevos, they should include huevos if they don't.... The dinner selections are also low-priced...I had the sirloin and fried oysters or scallops (not sure which) but any place with seafood is right on, man! There are plenty of regulars also, it seems the wait staff knows most of the diners there....always a good sign... There's an all-you-can eat ribs special at times. This place uses CANNED beans and they are awful! The rest of the food we ordered was not that great either. The only reason I know they use refried CANNED beans is because I told our waitress that the beans we were served tasted bad, and I believed they had gone bad. She quickly took the side of beans straight into the kitchen and told one of the cooks; he then reassured her the beans were fresh since they had just opened a new can of beans that very morning! read more

I have been living in Glendora for quite some time and I always drive by this place on Route 66 but never really had the inclination to go inside. One day my wife's parents were here to watch one of my kids play soccer and they wanted to go here after the game for breakfast. Since then I have been here about 8 times for breakfast lunch and dinner. The food here for me has been great on occasion and then on other occasions just ok. I have had their steak twice and both times it was cooked exactly how I ordered it. It seems to be pretty good quality and tender too. For the price it was well worth it to me. Another thing I have had that I enjoyed is the tuna melt. Their ranch dressing is really good so I enjoy the salads too. My wife gets the chicken parmesan often. The amount of pasta on her plate is just insane and I have tasted the spaghetti and the sauce is pretty good. There is enough pasta on there for 2 full meals easily and then some. That is the one thing about this place that I really like. The quantity of food that you get for the prices is really great. Although I do have to say that not all of their food is great. Some of it I do not like, some of it is just average, and some of it is great. It is odd too because I don't think there are many places I have eaten that I have so much variance on my opinion of the food. I have had chicken dishes (chopped chicken breast) that I will not order again because it was just ok or below average. I have had baked potatoes that were below average because the skin was overcooked from sitting in the oven all day. I have had salads that were really good because the produce is really fresh, the croutons great and the ranch is really good. Every time I order the fruit with a meal it is exceptionally fresh and ripe. Their french fries are really good while their hash browns for breakfast are not good at all. I am not sure what is up with their hash browns but they are kind of bland with a slight burnt taste to them. They give you a ton of hash browns but they are not very good. I already mentioned my experience with the steak. Oh yea... I am not a fan of their soups either. I have tried both the clam chowder and the french onion. If I were you I would stick to the salads. You may try this place for the first time and order a steak that is great with an awesome salad while the soup might turn you off and the baked potato be unappealing. Another scenario could be that you order a chicken dish with baked potato and soup and the whole thing may not seem worth it to you. You could also try this place for the first time and get an awesome steak with an exceptional salad average mashed potatoes or really good fries and very good fruit. So I think that is why everyones first experience here varies. If this place would fix a few items on the menu that are obviously not done well I think this place might have a 4 for its average rating. Overall I gave this place a 4 and here is why. Even though there is inconstancy in the food from item to item I believe there is consistence in each individual item. For instance the hash browns are alway gross to me but the steak, salad and fruit are always great. I think this place overall has average to great food with really good portion for the price you pay. There are not very many places around that you can get a meal for as cheap as you can here and leave with so many leftovers for another meal. I think once you figure out the things on the menu that are done well it is well worth it to come back. 1. Most items are under ten dollars 2. Kids meals are 2 bucks after 4pm every day with a paid adult meal and they give them a lot of food. 3. Daily specials 4. The service is awesome and the people that work there are friendly. 5. What a nightmare this place was. I found this restaurant here, on Yelp, and was excited for hubby and I to go and have the much lauded breakfast. Such a disappointment I hardly know where to start. On the tables is an array of bottled sauces. Five. Three of them had such OLD crusty rims that it nearly destroyed my appetite. They were nasty. So cleanliness is a definite issue here. When our food arrived my hubby's eggs were NOT soft scrambled but more like hard leather eggs. My eggs were NOT over medium, they were nearly raw. The sliced tomatoes had been sliced loooooong ago and the fresh fruit was NOT, I repeat, NOT fresh. Fresh fruit doesn't have brown around the edges. Our toast was BURNED. BLACK. How anyone could go back to this establishment is beyond me. I feared for my very life and health. With so many alternatives in the area you would THINK they would try harder. My family decided to go here on a Sunday after church thanks to a living social deal. On the outside it seems like any typical diner that is usually filled to capacity on Sunday mornings. Luckily when we got there they have a couple of free tables, so we were seated immediately. Other than people conversing with each other, it wasn't too loud and it was easy for me to hear someone from the other side of the table. The initial service was great, as our server kept asking us how our meal tasted. Considering their prices, their portions are excellent. My order of a cheese steak omelet came with two sides of my choice: french fries and a pancake. I was surprised by the size of the package and how many fries were included. The pancake tasted good; however, the bottom of pancake seemed a bit burned and overcooked. Due to the great portion size, I wasn't able to finish my omelet and brought it home. I enjoyed my stay at the Peppertree Cafe, and the service would have been excellent but the waitress decided to give us the check in the middle of eating. I believe it is rude for any waiter to give the check to a customer while he/she is enjoying their meal. Another great independent (non-chain) coffee shop. They have a lot on the menu and many unique dishes you don't normally see. The portions are big, and the service was OK (could be better). Nice atmosphere for relaxing. Who knew Glendora had so many cool family restaurants right on Route 66. I never would have found them if I hadn't been driving on fumes and had to turn off the 210 to get gas (at the gas station, not the Peppertree). I'll continue to support this place. read more

They give you a lot of food for a low price and the food tasted really good but lately the service hasn't been good and it seems like their food is tasting bland now. Here's the list: pink lipstick leftover on the water glass from a previous customer; the vegetables were tasteless, mushy/overcooked; The salad had brown/old lettuce in it; The two of us who ordered the chicken wrap sandwich couldn't finish them due to the poor taste and both of us ended up with severe gas/bloating...The food was pretty tasteless or didn't taste good. The only good thing about our dining experience was our server named Maria..very sweet and friendly and hard working. This place use to be good. Now the "to go service " is horrible . The last few times we have gone, our food was poorly made. They have managed to mess up numerous times. They never give you eating utensils, napkins etc. The food portion changes constantly . The food is just thrown in containers . Their customer service is only at 70%. The roast beef dinner was tasteless even though the meat was tender. The stuffing was very bland, but the garlic toast was tasty.

Horrible food!!! Everything is frozen or pre-made and the cooks are terrible. Server tried to convince me that the hard boiled eggs on my salad are supposed to have a thick grey/green coating around the yolks and that they are good that way. So the service is about as bad as the food. Ate there 3 times, the first I just had a breakfast sandwich which was decent but the other 2 times both my food and everyone else's was awful. I will never go back. the last time I had the tuna salad sandwich and soup which was obviously frozen and the noodles were mushy and I barely ate the tuna because it tasted really strong and off tasting.
