As I mentioned it's a small shop with fairly limited seating indoors. Not sure how busy it gets. Upon arriving, my party was warmly greeted by one of the employees. Before placing our order at the counter, I asked the associate what the most popular sub was and he said it was the Italian Cold Cut (genoa salami, ham, capicola & provolone with lettuce, tomatoes, onions & seasoned blend of oil & vinegar. Works - add hot banana peppers and pickles). At the associate's recommendation my friend and I got the Cold Cut and my husband ordered the Chicken Marinara. They shout out your order when it's ready. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly our order was prepared. They get an A+ from customer service and speedy service! When I took my first bite, my first impression was the vinegar was overpowering but a few bites into it, it was balanced. I also went to the counter to request some mayo. I think that is what it was missing for me and next time I will ask for more seasoning. I would have also preferred if the sub roll was bigger, it was hard to close the sub. We also got a a fry bucket of Boardwalk fries. It was really good with Old Bay on it. My husband got the Chicken Marinara today for a second time. This is his second visit in three weeks. He absolutely loves it, said it's fantastic, and absolutely raves about it. I will need to try it during my next visit. On our way out the associate who took our order said goodbye. It's a nice lil' roadside stop for a quality bite to eat. The staff and customers are friendly and that adds to the food to give it 5 stars for me. The best BLT outside of home that I've ever had. The large is big enough for two people. The first time I came here two years ago I asked how much bacon was on the BLT and the response was we have never had a complaint. If you're white the service is speedy. If you're black or brown skin well you'll have to wait, so bring a portable chair. The food was good but the customer service wasn't. The cashier served and attended all the white customers that were ahead of me back-to-back without having them wait. As soon as I came to the register she left the register and 3 minutes later she saw me and told me to wait. I waited an additional 5+ minutes and wasn't attended to until another white family came in. I didn't complain I just did 90 degrees (sitting chair pose) against the counter. I was ready to tear up the second half when that was brought to a halt by a hair that matched no one hair in my household....but was a perfect match for person who handed me my order. The food is decent, but it's never on time. I've been here twice. I wanted to give them a second chance, but it was no different. I usually order online and specify my pick-up time. Still, when I arrive to pick up my food, there's a 10-15 minute wait. So, be prepared for that if you need to be able to get in and out. Luckily my lunch breaks aren't timed. If that's not the case for you, this may not the best place to grab lunch and go (even if you order ahead). Also, service is not consistent from customer to customer. Just to give one example, I approached the counter and a girl behind the counter looked right at me, and walked off. I waited, thinking she would return eventually. She never did. I rung the bell and the SAME GIRL came back then asked if I had a pick-up. I told her "yes" and she said it would be a couple minutes. In the time I was waiting, folks who'd been ordering while I entered and waited got their food before me. I had a simple cold sub and fries. I'm not sure what happened to this place, maybe the management has changed or something, but I ordered a Reuben today and I was beyond disappointed. It used to be a beautiful sandwich in marble rye, and now it's a tiny sandwich on some ugly toast. The beef and sauerkraut used to be bursting from the sides, while the bread maintained its shape. Now the bread collapses onto the paltry beef and sauerkraut portions and is just sad to look at. I hoped I just picked the wrong thing on their new ordering system, but there is only one Reuben option. Extremely disappointed. Also, the fries are not as good as they used to be. Great first time at PepperJacks Subs in Laurel. Parking was very busy, but we found a spot next to the dumpster. Inside there was a fairly long line of people waiting to order, but there's also a kiosk you can order and pay at across from the pick up window. We ordered there and found a seat long before we would have if we waited in line. Our order was called pretty quickly as well. We ordered a large Italian Cold Cut, a S'Mores Milkshake and Root Beer float. All three were fantastic. The sandwich tasted amazing, flavorful meats and toppings, and the bread was toasted and delicious. The large sandwich was so big, we ended up only eating half there and took the other half home for later. Both drinks were amazing as well. The S'Mores Milkshake was so thick, and you could really taste the marshmallow and chocolate, and there were smally bits of graham cracker inside. Delicious! I wasn't sure what to expect when ordering the Root Beer float, but I was beyond satisfied. It came as a cup of soft serve ice cream with a bottle of IBC root beer. It was perfect. Probably the best root beer float I've had in over 15 years. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu! read more

I've seen it go through various expansions and renovations in its time, yet PJ has never lost its neighborhood feel. The restaurant exudes warmth and a welcoming feeling, only to be accompanied by warm, feel-good food. You come to Pepperjacks for the subs and fries; you stay for the delicious soft service ice cream and milkshakes. The service here is admirable and food comes out of the kitchen quickly. Phone orders are a good idea if you're carrying out, especially during lunch time. The staff can get a bit flustered during busier times and you'll notice this when the restaurant stops taking phone orders or your order is made wrong. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Inside you'll find some booth seating and a few tables; outside are a bunch of picnic tables backed by an open grass slope-- it's perfect for kids. Things I Like: Buffalo Chicken Sub Chicken Marinara Sub Boardwalk Fries Milkshakes Things I Dislike: Tomato Soup - The tomato soup seems exceedingly average and not homemade; I was rather disappointed. The staff was friendly and helpful! The decor was fun with interesting fun signs and there was some outdoor seating which is perfect on a nice day. I grabbed a Rueben and it was great! On a whim, while driving up on 95 coing from DC, we were looking for a place to eat that's not fastfood. We saw the sign for Pepperjack along 95 and decided to go for it! We were not disappointed. Food was made fresh, it was hot, and my kids really love their meatball sub with a good layer of cheese on top. This is the place to go in Scaggsville for delicious, reasonably priced subs. Family owned and operated, the atmosphere is very homey and welcoming. All subs and sandwiches are made with high-quality ingredients, and while all are good, my personal 2 favorites are the Santa Fé Chicken and the Classic Roast Beef served with fresh mozzarella and balsamic (ask them to go easy on the balsamic). I heard about this place from Yelp marking it as a hotspot in my area so I checked it out and read a couple reviews and saw a few people that had made a review on this place suggesting that it's a great place to go to. So with that I thought why not. Looks like a really cool place. Not too far away from my office. I was thinking to myself this might be a really good lunch spot. So I went there and was taken back in time. Felt like I was on a mini vacation. The food was fresh. The staff was nice. A lot of great options on the menu. All around great experience. Nice relaxing environment very happy I decided to try it. They have some nice shirts I was thinking about buying maybe next time. Fries were nice hot and crispy my sandwich was awesome I got a cheeseburger sub. They have a variety of cupcakes and milkshakes and ice cream yum yum yum! The parking is nice on a gravel road half of it and they have a area outside where you can sit and eat your sub of course you can eat inside as well but on a nice day and has a nice atmosphere outside as well I recommend everybody to try it and then decide. Update! They have breakfast! I don't know if this is a new thing or if I just never noticed before. Either way, I've recently tried their breakfast twice and overall it's pretty good. Not quite as good as their regular subs but definitely a decent, inexpensive option if you're feeling a breakfast sandwich. Most of their breakfast sandwiches are $4.89-$5.99 so it's a good deal. Just don't expect something the size of their normal subs, it's about half the size of their regular size subs. My bacon, egg and cheese was pretty tasty and fast. So I thought I'd come back for breakfast... To the contrary, when I came here and got the caprese waffle it took FOREVER. Four people that came in after me all got their breakfast sandwiches before me. If there's a line of people in front of you and you're in a rush don't get a waffle! read more

Fries were not great, cold despite me waiting in my car for them about 10 minutes past my pick up time. I'm from NJ, these can NOT be considered boardwalk fries. They were also hard, like they were fried earlier then reheated. My sub was missing tomatoes and onions as requested and had no flair or taste really. I had to doctor it up when I got home. We go to the Laurel location for dinner on a fairly regular basis. We have never been disappointed! The meatball sub is great, as is the chicken marinara. We have also had the tuna sub, which is very good. The french fries are excellent! Everything is made to order and the hot subs and fries are served HOT! We have not tried the ice cream, shakes, or baked goods, but they definitely look good. The service has been good each time we've gone. I have been going to Pepperjacks for a long time having growing up in North Laurel. Service was spotty for a long time, but they have really been super on point recently. Service has been quick and very friendly. The food has also upgraded lately. Not that I felt it was bad before, but the quality of bread used and the salads have been amazing. Everything (including breakfast) has been so delicious. Dining in is an enjoyable experience if you don't feel like carrying out. Cons: Breakfast ends too soon on the weekends. I go to church at 11am and I like getting brunch after. It would be great if I could get their amazing breakfast for a little while longer. My biggest con is no more snowballs. Pepperjacks used to have the best snowballs with marshmallow topping. For lactose intolerant people such as myself, it was the only place around to get dessert. But now, suddenly, they decided to stop selling snowballs this season. I felt so betrayed. How could they get rid of a community staple? Why discriminate against those who cannot have ice cream and further isolate us, denying us a sweet treat relief on hot days?! There is no where to get snowballs in the area. I am utterly hurt to my core by this action and take it personally. I never knew pepperjacks hated those of us who cannot properly process the lactose sugar. Everytime I go in, people mock me with the ice cream cones and sundaes. So many days now, my best friend and I will go, "oo let's get a snowball" only to remember that Pepperjacks has stopped selling them. It is like when Aaron Burr decided to abandon Hamilton and the federalist party to join the democratic Republicans and steal the NY Senate seat of Philip Schyluer. It was like when Obi Wan Kenobi discovered that Anakin Skywalker betrayed the Jedi Knights for The Sith. It was like with Peter Pettigrew betrayed The Potters and handed them over to Voldemort. My niece and I have to sit and watch as others around us can enjoy a frozen treat that does not betray their digestive system as our one place for dessert has turned their backs on us.
