The Apple pie milkshake had chunks of apple in it, and it tasted like an apple pie with a scoop of ice cream. We also got a veggie sub, a Cubano, and a tuna. The amount of protein was more than your normal sub shop, and the bread was perfect. It was not too hard or too soft and it had a good chew and density to it. The fries were super good too. I live in the Scaggsville neighborhood and love that PepperJacks is here and thriving. The sandwiches are great and exactly what one expects. The softserve ice cream in summer is wonderful. I'm thrilled that they have a 2nd location but to me it will always be the Scaggsville place down the street. It's so friendly with indoor and outdoor seating. I was in the area for an appointment and searched yelp for a good sandwich. PepperJack had 4 stars so I stopped by. Its a cute little roadside spot not too far from the highway. They also serve ice cream and fries outside the sandwich menu. There was one family waiting but told me they werent in line so i stood at the register and was welcomed within a couple minutes. Gave me a few minutes to make a final decision. The lady who took my order was so friendly so unlike the service Ive had since living here. Almost felt like I was in the south. I ordered the meatball sub and grabbed a bag of chips. Was really good price at around $12. I wasnt sure about the amount of marinara on the sub so i ordered extra on the side. My order came out a few minutes later. I had a 30 minute drive home and the sandwich was still fairly warm. Im not totally certain if the meatball is all beef or a mix of beef and pork but it was very tasty and the perfect size. I did add a little marinara sauce but it wasnt dry at all like other subs. I love that they used green leaf lettuce instead of iceberg. The onions were sliced really thin, which I also like. I came at a busy time and there was one parking spot left by the dumpster. Delicious sandwiches overflowing with meat and other deliciousness. Amazing shakes, large and glorious and lovely. And the fries, oh, the fries, hot and amazing and salty and greasy and delicious just like they are supposed to be. But the subs are huge, you don't need a large, don't get one, you'll never be able to finish it. I got the chicken caesar sub and it was good, but I'm sure there are plenty of other good options too. Didn't try any dessert besides the shake but it looked good. Shame of the limited hours, but love this place. Go Pepperjacks. Not only that, the staff were so nice and friendly and helpful. I used to come here a lot exclusively for the milkshakes but come less now. I've tried their sandwiches, and will usually just get a stromboli sub if I need food, but I'm less of a fan of their food (which is why a star is deducted) and a huge fan of their milkshakes. Their milkshakes IMHO are the best in this area. My favorite two flavors are Caramel Mochaccino and Peanut Butter Explosion in that order. The Smores is also really good. It's priced as high as anyone else doing good shakes, but its a novelty, so just go with it. read more

It was good, filling. The second time, I ordered a Chicken Salad Sub. It lacked flavor. All I could really taste was the green leaf lettuce and the bread. The fries were hot (good), but limp (bad). They have a very large variety of subs to choose from that range from hot subs to cold subs. You can also add or remove items to make them more to your liking. I've tried the chicken pesto in the past and that was delicious. This time I was craving a cheeseburger sub and went with that. The bread is very fresh and there were plenty of toppings, although I could have used a few more pickles! The burger was a little overdone and didn't have much flavor to it, but it hit the spot. Shoutout to our local community heroes! This is a cute venue that my husband and kids have been hyping up for me to try out and review. I have been roaming the local area for strawberry shakes and I had even more incentive to celebrate these local heroes! I was so happy that I did! Now... upside, i liked the bread- which most places usually miss, so if this place could improve the other items mentioned earlier I think this could be a win. Wow. Okay. Where to start? I'd heard of this place from a friend who grew up in Laurel, who I now play music with out west. I'm visiting Laurel for the first time, giving PepperJack's a shot since I'd heard so much about it nearly 3000 miles away. I'll say this: It didn't disappoint in the least. I ordered their daily special: The California Club and some Boardwalk fries. I also added a fountain drink, to then be surprised to see Birch Beer on tap. A first sighting for me ever. The sub came out quickly, despite a lunch rush. The bread was fresh and perfectly toasted, where it didn't appear that way at first glance. It was just light and crispy. The sub was packed perfectly, leaving no gaps of air. The fries also were overflowing from the cup they were served in. I really loved the taste, crunch, and chew of each bite, finishing it quickly despite being still somewhat full from breakfast 3-hours prior (Now I'm uncomfortably stuffed as I type this from their dining area). The next is a compliment more towards the clientele, if not the community. The people patronizing this establishment are wonderfully friendly, outgoing, courteous, and talkative. To those who live here, that may just be "the norm" where you don't notice it like I do. But, with PepperJack's at least, the best people patronize this business. When I arrived, it reminded me of an ice cream parlor. The menu is basic but one of the favorites seem to be the meatball sub. This is based on how many people ordered it while I was in there. I ordered the Chicken Marinara regular sized sub with an order of fries. When I looked at my sub, I thought it was small. Actually, it was quite filling. My sub had the right balance of marinara and cheese. It was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. I liked that the bread was toasted but it wasn't hard. Now, the fries were okay. For $2.75, they should've been. And that's the regular size fries. The bucket of fries is over $5! I could've gotten chips but there isn't a big selection. I want to try more items on the menu. I ordered a chicken caesar salad and was sad later when I saw my friend's southwest salad - it just had a lot more "stuff" than mine. It was tasty, just didn't have anything but the lettuce, about half of a large breast, and the cheese. Plus croutons, which I took out. I think we ordered the wrong items. We must have ordered the wrong items. So. We ordered the special of the day which was a meatball sub, kids menu French bread pizza, large fries and an Oreo milkshake. I think our total was like 25$~. The meatball sub was 6$, kids meal was 7$, large fries 6$, and shake must have been 4/5$. Worse meatball sub I've ever had. I saw so many people ordering it I'm shocked. The guy before us ordered five of them to go so my husband felt like he had to try. The meatballs were super soft textured, sauce lacked flavor, cheese lacked flavor, just disappointing. Kids meal was also disappointing. It was the bread we had for our subs, with a slather of probably the same sauce we had in our sub, topped with the same cheese we had on our sub. It looked disappointing and tasted as sad as it looked. The meal does come with a drink, apple sauce, and cookies. Our son is almost 14mo. He doesn't eat gourmet food but this was the saddest kids entree we've ever ordered. The large fries were large but lacked crisp. Not sure how to properly fry fries but they were either in the oil for too long and got soggy or sat out for too long and got soggy. These also lacked season/salt. Definitely not "boardwalk fries." Before placing our order at the counter, I asked the associate what the most popular sub was and he said it was the Italian Cold Cut (genoa salami, ham, capicola & provolone with lettuce, tomatoes, onions & seasoned blend of oil & vinegar. Works - add hot banana peppers and pickles). At the associate's recommendation my friend and I got the Cold Cut and my husband ordered the Chicken Marinara. They shout out your order when it's ready. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly our order was prepared. They get an A+ from customer service and speedy service! When I took my first bite, my first impression was the vinegar was overpowering but a few bites into it, it was balanced. I also went to the counter to request some mayo. I think that is what it was missing for me and next time I will ask for more seasoning. I would have also preferred if the sub roll was bigger, it was hard to close the sub. We also got a a fry bucket of Boardwalk fries. It was really good with Old Bay on it. My husband got the Chicken Marinara today for a second time. This is his second visit in three weeks. He absolutely loves it, said it's fantastic, and absolutely raves about it. I will need to try it during my next visit. On our way out the associate who took our order said goodbye. It's a nice lil' roadside stop for a quality bite to eat. The staff and customers are friendly and that adds to the food to give it 5 stars for me. The best BLT outside of home that I've ever had. The large is big enough for two people. The first time I came here two years ago I asked how much bacon was on the BLT and the response was we have never had a complaint.
