Stopped in here at about 10am on a Friday because Denny's was too crowded, and it was the best decision ever! There was one other customer when we arrived, and two or three other tables arrived after us. The ambiance inside is great - lots of tables, high ceilings, and large windows letting lots of natural light in. I got the chicken enchiladas plate, which is my go-to, and my partner got the huevos con chorizo. I am not exaggerating when I say these were the most delicious enchiladas I have ever had in my life. Every part of the plate was amazing; it came with 3 verde chicken enchiladas, beans with cheese, rice, and sour cream (that DID NOT cost extra!). It was so delicious and filling, I took one enchilada home and it was just as good after being microwaved. I was thoroughly impressed with the service too - we both got coffees which were consistently refilled before they could get half-empty. The food took a little while, but was 100% worth it. Do not go to this restaurant if you want timely service. Even with the old owners; the friendly waitresses took a long time to bring the food I ordered. Now that ownership has changed; the old waitresses have been replaced by cold, emotionless waitresses who still take a huge amount of time to serve the dishes I ordered. I totally understand slow service when the place is busy; but the last 3 times I went here under the new ownership; I got my meal 15 minutes later after placing my order in a restaurant that had 6 other customers inside. The food quality also dropped. Dry patties, overcooked liver, and bland, forgettable side dishes have become the norm. Since the ownership change, this restaurant now focuses on Mexican food. I haven't ordered any-nor will I since I'm not going to return-but this place has made me see a pattern: Mexican restaurants are good for Mexican food; but when they try making dishes that aren't Mexican; they come up with terrible versions. Went to get some breakfast last weekend, food was good even though I saw the dirty ass bald waiter grab toasts and othwr food with his hands, no gloves, so we couldn't enjoy our meal knowing he probably grabbed our food with his dirty hands, they also seem to miss a lot of organization you feel like you're eating in a market with all the screaming in the kitchen and the Mexican music at high volume, I don't know about the other waiters they have working there but that guy gave us a really poor service we had to constantly remind him of things we asked him for and he got mad every time we asked him for things, I'm definitely never coming back!! read more

Good American chow. No pretenses, no gimmicks, no foo foo nonsense. Reminds me of ordinary places in the midwest or upper South, where you'd find the same kind of chow in every town. I want to give this place 5 stars so bad, but mostly that is because there is an excellent "smoking patio", and I happen to smoke. So, that aside... this is a good solid family place, somewhere between a diner, a coffee shop, and a real restaurant. I like honest places a lot, and this place is very honest. So honest in fact that when I asked how the liver and onions was, the waitress made a face and said "Yuck". They serve wine and beer ($4 for a mug of Heineken), as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every once in a while they have a prime rib night that I heard is good. And food here is very reasonably priced. My girlfriend and I ordered a full dinner each from the "senior menu" and both of them had plenty of food and they were each less than ten dollars. A couple of minor warnings: the thin cut fries are much better than the thick cut fries (so make sure you get the thin ones with your burgers and your fish & chips). Also, the pies are store bought. No baking is homemade in this place unless otherwise stated. A non food warning - the bathrooms are really small. Fun Perks: This place is just a few football fields distance from the nearby Indian Casino, so you can spend all the money you saved on your meal at the penny slots. Also, they have a drive through window (weird: its like having a drive through window at a Norms), so you can call in your meal and then drive through to pick up your meatloaf plate and your fillet of sole dinner. So this is a good place if you like places like this. And for those of you who do not smoke, fear not, 85% of the place in indoors, and it is as smoke-free as any restaurant in LA. read more

I am a frequent patron of this restaurant and have been coming here regularly for 8 years. Today, my visit was mediocre in the fact that we were sat at the front west side behind the register and were forgotten about. The food was good as usual but the service was less than standard. We had no drink refills after our food was brought out, not offered straws and our waitress (Savannah) was not attentive and did not seem very friendly towards us. The restaurant was not packed but the service was something you'd see at a place jam packed with people. Service here has really declined over the years but the cook has always done the meals justice which is why I keep coming back. I came here when it was an actual diner for breakfast years ago. I wasn't much of a fan. Last Sunday, I saw taco stands outside around 6pm & decided to stop. Well, it was thee worst decision. We sit inside, the cashier/waiter/dishwasher (1 person) took our drink orders ONLY. We had to go outside & order our tacos, then go into ANOTHER room to get our salsa. We go to sit at our table, get our drinks. I had to give my drink back to the poor waiter/dishwasher/ cashier, didn't know how to prepare a michelada. It had nothing but chamoy. It was Sweet! THEN the taco lady was upset because apparently we had to pay for our tacos after ordering them! So then I'm thinking, do we go inside & pay for our drinks? Super confusing ! & the cashier/ waiter/ dishwasher guy spent the whole time complaining because they had no one to wash dishes, no one to wait on tables, no reception at the front. Omg! Never Again! Tried this place for the first time tonight for the first time since it got a new owner. My wife tried the fried chicken dinner, it was fried to perfection! Although the pieces were a little small, there were 7 of them and the batter was light and just the right amount of crispness . I had the small bowl if abondigas and it was more than enough! Served with 4 large meatballs , carrots and potatoes in a very tasty tomato broth. The service was excellent with Cesy answering all my questions and she packaged our leftovers with care. Great food, food was delicious, it reminded me like my mom cooking, the soup was very tasty with pieces of beef meat, my pepper steak sandwich seasoned really good, there steak plate with mash potatoes, and vegetables was delicious as well, there seasoning was really good, nice place to come with the family, there waitresses were very nice, everyone was very nice, place nice and clean. This place has been here as long as I can remember honestly. I love mom and pop joints like this can beat the real sincere hospitality you get from them. Aside from that the buildings always have so much character. I have having lunch here and ordered the jumbo shrimp plate with massaged potatoes and veggies and before that I had a pepper pot soup with vegetables. I added a bit of pepper to the soup but that's just me overall it was a good hearty soup. And the jumbo shrimp were big and plump. Mashed potatoes were average and nothing crazy but still yummy. The staff here was very polite and very attentive. They where very quick and came by often to make sure all was well so I enjoyed that. The crowed was moderate and mostly older folks. But that was a good sign to me seems they been coming here for a long time. So I'd say definitely will come back and have to explore the menu much more. read more
