We drove past this "Hidden Gem" steak house while cruising up to Lake Arrowhead & Big Bear Lake during the Thanksgiving week. The food is phenomenal and the prices are even better. We ordered the house special prime rib, rack of lambs, porterhouse & baked brie which were hands down one of the most delicious in our life time. My wife & I just found our secret hide out to dine in forever. The ambiance inside is filled with rustic joy and happiness. Amanda & Charles are so wonderful and always being very attentive to us. Here are the photos. Ciao Bella!~

    Garlic toast was very good

The ambiance was nice. The place is clean and the staff are very nice. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet. For my birthday I chose the brownie sunday and our waitress and the manager or owner sang Happy Birthday to me. It's a locals place. It's was a good birthday dinner! Thank you!!

Who knew this little bistro/lounge at the Bear Springs Hotel in Highland, Ca. would have such a delicious menu? Oh, and they change the dining menu options ever so often. They also have a full bar menu for drinks as well. The vibe is upscale casual. There are two dinning areas at the hotel. One is the bistro (for more quiet dining) and directly across the hall is the lounge, where food and drink are also available. Great spot for a fun date night. On Friday and Saturday nights in the lounge, there is live music from 6-9pm. You can just order drinks and enjoy the music in the lounge, but you're gonna want to try the food too-it's yummy! The Bear Springs Hotel Bistro & Lounge is not just for hotel guests. It's a go to spot for locals, vacationers and those visiting the Yaamava Casino. Check it out.

This weekend we checked in and everything was going smooth as usual when we noticed the stomps and banging in the room above us. We stayed in 203. I called the front desk and told them it sounded like kids running back and forth. They apologized for the inconvenience and said it would be address. Needless to say, the running back and forth continued most of the night. I called again after breakfast (apple sausage was amazing) and complained that the running back and forth and stumps was still happening. The tall white guy manager named Josh or Jason did a horrible job of handling it. He kept trying to move us to another room and said there's nothing else he could do. I was like really? It's our anniversary weekend and we're forced to spend it like this? I almost went up there and knocked on the door myself out of frustration. Later on in the evening around 6:00PM, I called to complain again and spoke with Samantha. Now this is a real manager!!! She said that she went up there and heard for herself the ruckus they were causing. She then told me that if this continued, she would ask this guests to leave. The running and stomping stopped shortly afterwards. This year we have spent upwards of $40,000 with Yaamava and really enjoy coming to this casino. Had it not been for Samantha, my wife and I were planning to never come back and go to Morongo for our next outing. Good job Samantha, you retained a valued guests. Sidebar - smoke alarm went off at 6:00AM. Called the front desk and they said someone pulled the fire alarm. I think we're gonna just stay at the hotel on the casino property in the future. It's just too much going on at Bear Springs.

Food: 5/5 We came here manly for their drinks, but also decided to get their poke nachos. The tuna poke was top tier. The fish was fresh and paired beautifully with their sauces and guacamole. Since it was close to my birthday, the gave me a free pineapple dole whip as well. It tasted just like Disney's pineapple dole whip! Drinks: 4/5 We got the scorpion bowl between five people. The bowl was not very big, but the alcohol was definitely strong like most rum drinks. Next time I'm back I would probably get their other drinks instead of the fish bowl. Service: 5/5 The servers were super sweet and friendly. They were pretty busy, but very transparent and apologetic about it. The food and drink came out really quick. And despite the business, we got seated pretty quick as well. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is a cute tropical escape from the naturey and wilderness of Lake Arrowhead. The interior was well decorated and it was a very laid back vibes inside.

The tiki bar was a nice size and was very well themed. There were plenty of drink and food options. Since we were going to dinner right after, we only had an appetizer, which were the cream cheese rangoons. They were on the small side, but absolutely delicious which could be dangerous. My drink? So good. I went with the fun one, Come on Baby Light my Fire, which included dole whip! I felt like I was drinking a tasty boozy dole whip float, and the drink was quite large. Service was great and our bartender/server was entertaining and friendly. We will definitely be back again if we are in the area, and to perhaps try some more food options.

We seated ourselves at our favorite raised table in the corner on the far side of the bar. My husband and I stuck to traditional cocktails, and old fashioned and a Negroni. Our friends chose signature cocktails: the Turbo Granny and the Electric Feel. Now the Electric Feel was not just a drink, it was an experience. Our server explained to our friend that he should sip a little of the drink, then chew the Szechuan buzz bud for about 15 seconds, letting it coat his whole tongue, then enjoy the rest of the drink which would taste different afterwards. Our friend went through all those steps and said it was incredible, like all the flavors were enhanced along with different sensations in his mouth, kind of numb and tingly. His wife was not satisfied with his description of the experience, so she bought a Szechuan buzz bud for $2 and she said it was kind of like pop rocks. These buzz bud looks just like a little flower bud like the end of a dandelion once the seeds are blown away. It comes from a plant. Totally fascinating! We enjoyed our one cocktail each here and just had great conversation. It was a fun night because of the company, and also because we had a little adventure going to two amazing places!

My wife's cocktail was also top notch. She ordered the risotto and that was another win--well executed and clearly something the kitchen has dialed in. My entrée (the mussels with chorizo and fennel) was the miss. It came out very salty, and I couldn't really detect the fennel that was listed on the menu. To their credit, they comped a beer, which was appreciated. Service was friendly. One small but real comfort note: there was an exposed bulb on a shelf at eye level that made our table uncomfortable enough that i had to move my seat to not have it in my eyes the entire evening. Probably an easy fix, but worth mentioning. Overall, there are some genuinely strong dishes here, and enough went right that we'll be back--just hoping for a bit more consistency across the board.
