Went to the Pep Boys service center in Surprise to see if they could clean my post and terminal for my truck battery, due to I was having trouble starting my truck the night before when getting out of work at 9 pm. John the manager came to look at the battery and discovered the terminal was corroded and loose. John, instead of handing this simple job to one of his service technicians he did the job himself. When he discovered the terminal clamp screw wasn't breaking loose, John replaced the terminal. I know my situation was simple, I usually take care of these simple issues myself. With long working hours I was flat out tired. The level of service I received for one of those bothersome simple jobs was a breath of fresh air, especially when your tired. John was an example of great customer service and care. I was in and out back on the road within 15 mins. I will be back. Thank You! read more

When I returned to have the issue fixed, they identified the problem and resolved it after several hours. All I got was a half-hearted apology. This was legit my first visit to any PepBoys where I did not feel valued, appreciated, heard, or spoken to in a manner that made me want to take my keys back & get my vehicle serviced elsewhere. But, I did not. I stayed. My appointment was for 9:00 but I arrived a little after 7:30 because I have been told at multiple locations in multiple states, the appointments are "place holders" & no guarantee. So, I appeared early, work stuff in hand. I casually mentioned being annoyed that I made an appointment online for Sunday only to arrive & find this location closed. Scott, was the individual checking me in. He had difficulty locating me & then asked me about an address I haven't been at in over one year but I have also been to this specific location on two separate occasions but somehow none of that really seemed to exist. Scott told me, the Sunday issue was a thing & next time I should call him to have him help me. Yes, I'm between a full court calendar, moving, & my mothers death, I should have totally been aware of this issue & should have called him to save me from the inaccuracies of the PepBoys website. When he saw my appointment was for 9:00, he seemed to grow more annoyed with me. He advised he had multiple people with an appointment for the time I arrived and at least 3 others for the 9:00 slot so, "it would be awhile." Yes, that's why I brought work with me. I planned to wait. My car is done & I am out before 9:00, which was great. The tires I purchased from PepBoys in FL and supposedly are rated for 60K miles need to be replaced. Scott said he would help by prorating (not much of course because the tires I have aren't great & there are better ones). Normally my experience with PepBoys is fabulous. This is the reason I've continued to visit them & do business with them in multiple states. I don't know if Scott was having an off-day, but it is making me reconsider this location to perform my services in the future. My wifes CRV needed some new tires. I browsed around a couple of places, and Pep Boys had a deal going on with "Buy 3, get 1 free" so I went with them. For the tires, with alignment, it cost less than other providers around town for JUST tires. Win, win. Took my car in, and was greeted by Scott. Really personable dude, had my order on the computer, and got to work on the car right away. I took a seat in the lounge area and was in and out within about an hour or so. About the lounge area.........my only complaint about the place was that the lounge and bathroom were pretty damn filthy. I understand its an auto shop with mostly guys working there, but if I were a lady, and had to use that bathroom, I would hold it and go somewhere else. It was pretty nasty and definitely needs a deep cleaning. Would definitely come back here to get tires the next time we need them. Price was great, customer service was awesome, and overall I had a great experience! read more

I took my car to PepBoys on Grand Ave in Sun City for an alignment, they sold me a 3 year warranty, I then took it back a year later and they told me that it needed the complete rack and pinion to be removed and re calibrate or adjusted and they wanted to charge me $1200 more , I then took it to a different place and they did the alignment without having to do any extra work , what a rip off , DO NOT PAY EXTRA FOR A 3 YEAR WARRANTY IT'S A SCAM read more

Disappointing. They lied about what my car needed and cost was disproportionate so we declined serveral 'serious' services from inspection. When we got it home and my husband (previously an auto technician) checked brakes/rotors/etc none of the problems were what they said and they definitely didn't need to be replaced. Johnnys customer service was perfect but that doesn't change the overall experience. Rarely answer phone and then Brandon's phone etiquette was horrible. Quoted one thing for brakes then told different number, they advised their labor hours were one price but when questioned about how they got their total they changed to saying brake services have different 'special rates'? Nope. Don't lie to people about what work needs to be done, don't be sketchy with costs. This place can't be trusted and we won't be back. read more

On top on maintenance needed, I left the lot and also noticed the weird smell coming from my aircon was nonexistent and that was definitely a plus! I am visiting my 84 year old Mom in Surprise, AZ and noticed a wire of some sort hanging under the car. My Mom told me she uses Pep Boys and asked that I take it there. Johnny kindly remedied the situation. The car is a 2002 Camry. It has been well taken care of but over time the nuts that hold the wire rusted and came off. Johnny put new hardware under the car quickly and complimentary. He was very courteous. My Mom will continue to go there for her car needs. Thank you, Johnny! Dangerous safety issue Very Disappointed 7/12/21 8am had appointment for our fleet car service and found it wasn't needed but still asked counter guy to check tires as check light was on. He said sure and after less then 10 min came back and said I was good to go they were only couple lbs off. I asked if check light had cleared he said it would after a couple miles. Drove all the way to happy valley& lake pleasant pkwy light still on. Pulled into the Discount Tires air check station where customer can actually see the pressure and saw front left tire 8 lbs low back right 7 lbs the other two off just a couple ea. This is an important safety issue that the customer should be able to trust the business/technician with. I can't any longer this man straight up lied! read more

Can't ask for better service. The store manager Dennis and his crew are nothing but professionals. There was a small hiccup on my ticket out but they easily made up for it with an oil change worth about twice the amount. Also sent me home with a new pep boys bucket. My daughter, who lives in Tucson, had to drive to Surprise yesterday. When she arrived, her tire was flat. Pep Boys was the only place with an appt available on a Saturday, so I took her there and bought her a new tire. She headed back to Tucson and made it as far as the Sacaton rest area before her "new" tire blew and left her on the stranded on the side of I-10 at night. My husband and I drove out to help her, and discovered that the lug nuts had been overtightened and stripped, so that we couldn't remove the tire. We called roadside assistance, and they also struggled to get the lug nuts off without breaking them. When they inspected the "new" tire, they found it defective, with obvious bulges in the sidewall. This Pep Boys is naturally closed on Sundays, so now my daughter is stranded in Phx until Monday unless I can get another Pep Boys to make good on this disaster. If you value your safety on the road, maybe go to another shop. read more

Thinking I was a mechanic I decided to put oil in my car before a long trip to Las Vegas from Arizona .Super hot day as usual and we're heading down Grandview. And the car starts puttering , we pull over only to hypothesize that I had put to much oil in the car. I immediately google oil change locations and I come up with PepBoys. We turn in the parking lot because we're literally 300 feet from the location. I go in and explain to "Devon" my concerns. He stopped what he was doing he me pop the hood, checked the oil level and reassured me that I would be fine after it burns off. He gave me some more advice should other issues arise while we're on the road. Then as I tried to pay him he refused the money and said "no worries man" . This was a very small act of kindness and in today's times little acts like this are necessary . Thank-you to Devon and the PepBoys family who have the foresight to hire such great caring people. Moved back to Surprise and looking for a place to take care of my basic car care needs when needed, I usually change my own oil but just didn't feel like getting dirty this weekend. Showed up for my appointment a little early, was checked in and told that it would be 45 to 60 minutes (for a 20 minute job). Should have been my first warning to not stay and take it home to do it myself but decided to stay. About an hour into it hadn't heard a thing so walked out front to find nobody at the counter, headed outside and walked along to bay doors to see my car still up on the rack with 3 guys just chit chatting a bay over. Got to ask when it would be done and was told they would drain it in a minute, an HOUR and still had the oil in it. They did have an issue well before I came out to check that involved the police but this was never communicated to me until I came to find them. Almost 20 minutes later I'm asked to come to the counter for checkout where the hard sale was made for tires and brakes, no apologies for the time although excuses were made again about the incident with ONE of their employees that somehow magically kept all of them from completing a 20 job in under 1 hour 20 minutes. No offer of any kind of discount for taking so long, just "here buy this stuff, thank you for your money". Nope wouldn't recommend this place and will definitely save the $65 and continue changing my own from now on. read more
