Overall decent experience! I got a flat tire and had no spare so they helped me get a replacement and fixed in a decent amount of time.

Misdiagnosed for $2,016, paid for parts I didn't need. I grew up in a household of mechanics and know my way around a vehicle. I came to this shop purely paying for convenience because I was on vacation 500 miles away from home with my family and didn't have my tools or a garage. Instead of receiving professional service, I experienced a clear case of predatory misdiagnosis and sloppy workmanship. I was told I needed a brand-new radiator and thermostat, quoted at $2,016. I authorized the repairs out of necessity because my family was stranded. When I returned at 5:30 PM to pick up the vehicle, it was actively leaking coolant in their parking lot. Only after they pulled the car back into the bay did they realize the true issue: a defective radiator cap. They replaced the cap, and the leaking finally stopped. However, the store refused to refund me for the expensive radiator and labor I did not need. To justify the charge, they claimed I had a "pinhole leak" in my radiator fin. Any competent tech knows that a leaking radiator cap will weep fluid down the filler neck and side tanks, pooling at the bottom and creating a "wet corner" on the radiator. This is a textbook misdiagnosis--they saw a wet corner caused by the failing cap, failed to test the cap, and unnecessarily replaced the entire radiator. Had there actually been an active pinhole leak in the core, the vehicle would have overheated or sprayed constantly during my 15-minute drive on the interstate to get to the shop, which it never did. The absolute smoking gun: My official invoice explicitly states that the shop would pressure test my radiator cap. Not only did they fail to do this, but the staff openly admitted to me that they do not even own a radiator cap pressure tester in this store. They charged me for a diagnostic test they physically could not perform, which directly led to a completely unnecessary $2,000 repair. Furthermore, the communication was completely dishonest. During the day, I was explicitly told two different times by staff that my vehicle had passed the pressure test on two different tests. When I confronted them about this later, they completely denied it ever happened and claimed they didn't know who would have said that to me. It is incredibly obvious that a major diagnostic mistake was made due to a lack of proper equipment, and the shop is trying to cover it up at the expense of a stranded traveler. To top it all off, the pride in workmanship was non-existent. I had to explicitly ask them to put my skid plate back on the bottom of the car. They also left the rubber weather stripping seal under my hood completely twisted with broken plastic retaining pins. While they eventually refunded an unauthorized extended warranty they snuck onto my bill and offered a small credit for the broken pins, the store is still refusing to refund the money spent on an unnecessary radiator and the labor to install it. read more

Trevor said it was too late and he could not help me, because they close at 7. I explained it was a screw and it just needed patched. He said to bad leave it over night. so now I'm sitting here with a flat tire on A car that does not carry any spares. read more

Not sure why the low ratings. This is a corporate/chain tire and lube shop. They aren't specialists in any one service or brand. You get what you pay for. But I do believe they generally do good work. Jack of all trades, master of none. They are always running excellent deals ($10 tire rotation, lifetime alignment, oil change specials, etc). One of the few lube shops that has an alignment rack. I came in for an alignment on my BMW 3-series. Initially it was a bit off, but I came back within 30 days and they honored their policy. No issues since then. Make sure you go back to get your wheels re-torqued after a few miles/minutes of driving. read more

They told me it would take an hour and fifteen and they had me in and out in an hour, I even got texts with updates. Last night I found a nail in my tire. It wasn't losing air so I got an appointment here for today since I have road hazard protection after buying the tires from a different Pepboys. My car was taken in and after inspections the techs told me the following: The nail is "too deep" to repair The tire is losing air due to the nail Since they cannot repair the tire, I need to replace all 4 due to having AWD (agreed on this point if the above points weren't a load of lies) I have never in my life heard of a "nail/puncture too deep" to repair and have plugged numerous tires myself so I proceeded to take my car back and went to a local shop. Here are the findings of the local shop: There wasn't one nail in the tire but two Both are easily fixable as they are nowhere near the sidewall The local person proceeded to take the wheel off, pulled both nails which ended up being very short (essentially cap on top of 1/8 inch actual nail) and tested the tire to result in NO leaks. No patching, plugging, or any work was done on the tire and the local person was not even going to charge me for the work. It's now been 20 hours since I noticed the nail and I've checked tire pressure multiple times - there is no leak. So to summarize, the pepboys store in question: A) Did not even inspect the tire as they never mentioned the second nail. B) Lied that the nail is "too deep" to fix. There is no such thing as too deep for repair unless the wheel/rim itself is punctured. C) Lied that they confirmed the air is leaking out of the tire. D) Tried to get me to buy a new set of tires based on the above lies since if I did need one new tire, I'd have to replace all four. Avoid at all costs. Scummy business practices. read more

This Pep Boys location left my oil cap off, spilling oil all over my engine potentially causing serious damage -- and I didn't even go in for an oil change! I went in for a simple tire repair! Instead of fixing the tire, they told me I needed four new ones and just put on a spare. I drove off unaware that they had left the oil cap off -- something they should have never touched -- and days after without my knowledge, oil was leaking everywhere and all my warning lights came on. When I returned, they denied responsibility and claimed they don't touch the oil cap. They refused to provide their insurance information and told me to call corporate. I'm now left dealing with the aftermath, worried about possible long-term damage to my engine -- all because of carelessness during a basic tire visit. The assistant manager Trevor sent Connor who came to fill my oil, scanned, and tried to clear the warning lights but stayed on. Trevor was extremely unprofessional while on speaker phone he told the man assisting my car to get his things and get the hell out. To leave it as is. This is extremely negligent and dangerous. I want to thank Connor who understood the seriousness of the situation and actually tried. I strongly advise avoiding this location if you value your vehicle. read more

I would highly recommend taking your vehicle somewhere else unless you have an unlimited amount of time and energy to waste. This location has a lack of technicians and poor communication. My vehicle was there from Tuesday-Monday for a check engine light. They discovered 2 codes. They did not provide a proper inspection for my warranty company. They denied a portion of the claim. In addition, somehow my battery went dead and needed to be replaced while it was under there care. My car is still coding and I need to now take it to another place to have it checked out or cleared. They also incorrectly put my windshield wiper on after the battery install. The wiper was flying off the windshield. I immediately turned around to have it fixed. Took a few guys to figure it out. I overheard the person who changed the battery say, " I tried 6 times to get that on." Seems like they are extremely short handed and have a bunch of poorly trained mechanics. read more

So, I showed up for my appointment the other day that was confirmed online, waited in line with what felt like for ages due to only one person working the front (understaffing may be real here), and then was told I drove all the way over there just to have my appointment cancelled and rescheduled for 6 days later in the middle of a Monday (which I have yet to go to to report back on). I never received notification on the cancellation, I'm driving on a spare and happened to lose a lug nut along the way... felt dangerous and I told the front clerk that, but no one cared. The clerk just said that their online system is messed up and that it happens a lot. Then, told me the rescheduled time which I have to take, because I don't want to be driving around on a spare and bald tires forever coming into winter here! I know what happened was not the front clerk's fault, but it did feel sad that there is no care at all to the situation, because people that didn't book online take precedence over your reservation... like you're chopped liver, baby! Anywho, I'll be back on Monday. Just a word of warning to anyone reading this... PLEASE CALL before your reservation before you risk it and drive over. There's a high chance that if you booked online, your reservation has been moved. Also also, their restrooms are out of order. If you plan to be there for a long time getting any work done on your vehicle, make sure to map out nearby establishments for bathrooms or to be prepared upon showing up. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous about taking my car in this location but it worked the best for me and I was disappointed in another shop. So I gave it a shot despite the reviews. I got a quote for my service understanding there's room for bad news and a bigger bill than anticipated. Quite the opposite happened, in fact they were honest in their service and mentioned they just needed to pay for parts and didn't have a labor fee (the same service was quoted at $600 at another location and here was done for $100). I was over the moon and left a great impression on this location! At a later date, I called in for a tire replacement since mine are worn and need replacing. We talked over the phone to find the right tires they had in stock. They later called and found a better deal on tires at another location and brought them in (better tires at a cheaper price) and walked me through their review of both options. I was so impressed that they would go above and beyond for their customers. My overall feedback is this place does great service and honest work. I've had other locations that try to milk you for as much money as they can get and this is not one of them. Trevor is who I worked with the most and is sincere and fantastic. read more

If I could give negative starts I would. Scheduled an appointment for a Tuesday at 5:30pm to change my tires, I get there and they said their air compressor wasn't working. I get a NEW appointment for Saturday: they don't have the tires that I ordered, okay what do you have in store? - other tires more expensive, I said okay let's get those. Leave the store to pick up my car 2:30h after, I go pick to up my car and it wasn't touched yet after2:30h, they said yours is next give us 30min, I go back 1h after and it wasn't touched again Girl says I am sorry you should drop off the car the guys are in lunch 3:50pm. I'm a woman who knows nothing about cars and it shows. I am always paranoid I will be taken advantage of by any service center, but not here. I've always had positive experiences with this location. They don't nickel and dime you and they are always running promotions - the staff on hand actively looks for coupons if you ask them. They will make recommendations but have deterred me from services and products I don't need, which is how to know they are legit and trying to do a good job. I'm taking a star off because they can get backed up, even if you have an appointment - I would allow 24 hours for any service turnaround, but that's life and worth it for a place you can trust. read more

Appointment scheduled for 10 AM. Show up right on time. Check back in at noon, they say "it's next in line". Check back at 3, they say about 5 minutes. Finally get it at 3:30. Person helping me proceeds to hand me someone else's keys. 5 whole hours on a beautiful Saturday gone for one small oil change. Spare yourself and never come here ever. I made an appointment on Sunday online to have my car and tires checked out on Thursday afternoon. I got a confirmation text. On Thursday I called to make sure I had the address correct, only to find out they had no record of my appointment. They told me they could get me in next week. This wasn't possible as I'm leaving CO for OR (driving) on Saturday. They totally screwed me. Their moto should be "Not only will we not service you, but we'll make sure no one else will!" Took in my 2017 Nissan to remove a anti-theft lung nut. I was ok with the $67 price. They charged me $100 for four regular lug nuts. I only needed one. O'Reillys sells them for 6.19 each. Please never take your car here. I recently took my car here for air conditioning repair. I was told from a previous mechanic, it needed a new air compressor. I told Pep Boys this when I took it in. They said they would do a diagnostic and let me know. They said it needed a new radiator, and they fixed something else on the air conditioner. I asked them about the compressor, and they said it was fine. They charged me $1400. After I picked it up, it was making a loud screeching noise. Called them back, and they said to bring it in. I took it in and the tech heard the noise and looked at the engine and said it was the compressor. Just like I told them!!! Now they want to charge me another $600-800 after I told them that's what it needed!!!! They are such a rip off!! After this experience, I was talking to other co-workers and nobody had anything nice to say about this pep boys!! I chose it, since it was close to my job and they were not booked. Inept as hell, holy shit. I wish I could give ZERO stars but it's not an option. I bought winter tires from TireRack and this and a nearby PepBoys were on the recommended installer's list along with installation price quotes. I go to PepBoys' website and see a late-day appointment open and so I select it. Load up the tires, get there the next day and I'm told 1) I may not get in because they're booked up and may not be able to see me in spite of my having a reserved appointment time, 2) the $80 install price quoted on TireRack isn't true, TireRack isn't in their system, and the $80 price for tire installation only applies if you buy tires from PepBoys. After they made up the paperwork and I thought there was an all-clear for the installation, I agree to the ~$115 price and I give them my keys, go poop (gritty one-ply sandpaper) and sit down. Very shortly thereafter, the guy comes around the corner and tells me they're booked up and can't see me and hands me my keys. Inept is to put it mildly. I get home and see only after my coming in and referencing TireRack do they remove their location and another nearby PepBoys location from the TireRack installer's list. Aside from that, they should be decent enough to go over their bookings for the day and notify people in advance if they are overbooked and cannot see them so they don't waste their time loading tires into their car and driving across town. Why do they even allow late afternoon/early evening reservations when they obviously cannot fulfill them? They suck. They suck. They suck. And by what I was told, they're only open until about 6pm, not 8pm as is listed here on Yelp. PepBoys is on my boycott list. All of them. read more

I had a timing belt that went out in my 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser. I know for a fact that this is not an easy fix, but the technicians at Pep Boys took care of me and my vehicle in outstanding fashion! Went in for a nail in my tire that was clearly NOT in the side wall by every advice I found on the internet (after doing my own 30 second quick research) They told me I had to replace ALL 4 tires... They're brand new too. I went to Costco instead where I was told the nail was absolutely fixable and they did so within 30 minutes. This place clearly tries to scam people. I was completely disrespected at this location. I made an appointment and still waited nearly 3 hours in the waiting room to get my turn signal light "fixed". When the car was given back to me, it was STILL BROKEN. They tried to get me to pay for thousands of dollars worth of things that didn't need to be fixed, and when I refused they didn't even bother fixing what I came in for! When I picked up and questioned this they tried to give me a quote of half that. I already dealt with "Alex", who's a total inefficient slug-boy with no personality, that tried to tell me that they don't deal with Uber, so he doesn't know when an inspection form expires (something Uber requires). His reasoning was that he didn't know, so it didn't matter. Despite me paying $53 the day before for an inspection and some cheap wipe blades. After I explained what terrible service I got from his store, he obviously didn't care, and I had to ask him for an apology, because he clearly wasn't going to offer one on his own. Your whole staff was clueless, lazy, and apathetic to the customers. This is the kind of store you need to fire from the district manager, down to the bottom employee, and start with a new staff. Never taking my car here again, and you shouldn't either. I've given them second, third, whateverth chances. I'm done. They can't program a TPMS censor to save their lives, I've actually bought my own device so I can do it myself instead of coming back a second time EACH DAMN TIME because they didn't do it right. There have been two times that they told me a tire couldn't be fixed, and that I'd need 4 - not 2 - FOUR new tires, then another joint was able to get it done in like 20 minutes. They claimed the puncture was "too close to the edge", but each time it was in the middle 1/3 of the tire. Kidding me?? Most recently, the front end dude asked me to bring him my wheel lock key, instead of leaving it in the car; then called me back asking where it was; THEN ARGUED WITH ME ABOUT WHETHER I BROUGHT IT IN TO HIM SPECIFICALLY AT HIS REQUEST. Like, "well where was it in the car?" It WAS in the cupholder, but it IS in your shop wherever you placed it. Everything takes "a couple hours", until it takes "a couple hours more". No regard for people's time. I mean, I'm fine dropping off my vehicle if I know it'll be a few hours, but these guys can't seem to just spit it out of something is going to take forever. They actually called me back once, stating that the job was done, THEN said it'll be "couple hours more" because they need to have a part delivered from another shop. Incompetent, dishonest, and skeezy. No thank you. Really it's my fault for coming back time and again, they're just so close to my place. I am writing this review for the excellent customer service I received from a young guy who worked there with giant gauges in his ears. Sorry I don't know his name. He was very patient and kind with the customers before me as well as with me. He took time to do his work and did it with a smile. I came to get a mirror for my left driver's side. Pep Boys in Aurora didn't have it so I had to come here. He found it for me and then to make sure that it would be okay he insisted that he walk outside with me to see if it would fit. I'm glad he did because we found out that I was missing another component that required ordering from the car dealer. Despite me not purchasing anything, this employee was very pleasant and tried his best to solve my problem. read more
