We can't say enough good things about Leonard and his team at Peoples Choice. Starting with our first meeting, Leonard was on time, prepared, and transparent with information. He quickly followed up with a quote, which was totally itemized to help us understand exactly what was ahead of us. In addition to listening to and thoroughly addressing our requests, he provided excellent recommendations for enhancing our project (two bathroom remodels) without spending too much extra money. Throughout the project we had the same crew everyday. They were friendly, respectful, and nice to our dog. And they never missed a day of work, which is why our project was completed on time. Leonard checked in nearly every day to discuss progress and answer our questions. We are so happy with the quality of work and attention to the smallest of details (they even fixed a busted latch on our fence, which wasn't part of the project!). Highly recommend! read more

Everything was great. Leonard set very good expectations on the process and pricing and there were no surprises, which isn't always the case with home improvement. I met with a few companies and was a little worried I was going to overpay since People's choice wasn't the most economical, but it wasn't thousands more. After I saw the work, I'm glad I paid a little extra. The steps are bigger and wider. There is more detail: such as rounding the edges of the steps, larger screws, thicker wood, etc. that make the porch look much nicer and sturdier. It makes my house look nicer. read more

My wife and I did a total bathroom renovation -- new tub, new counter, new sink, new bath, new floors, new fixtures, knocked out a closet and closed off a pocket door (and more). Leonard said the project would take three weeks, and it took exactly three weeks (even losing a day or so due to horrible weather). The guys that did the work were incredibly polite and considerate. We had a 1-year-old baby around during the work, so they made sure everything was sealed off and safe. The final product was incredible. The bathroom is now my favorite room in our house (we hated it before). I can't speak enough about the overall team, their communication, their work -- you name it. I definitely recommend to anybody. read more

Peoples Choice did an incredible job completely transforming a small, dark bathroom into a bright and spacious focal point of our home. We started the project with another contractor who we fired after it became clear he lacked the experience and skill necessary to work on our 130+ year old home in Chicago. We then interviewed 10+ contractors, all with very high BBB ratings, to find someone to fix the mess left behind by the first guy. We ultimately decided on Peoples Choice because Leonard was thorough, helpful, and honest with his assessment of our bathroom. After our first conversation, it was immediately clear that Peoples Choice had the vision and expertise we were looking for to give us exactly what we wanted. I don't care how long I have to wait, I'm not letting anyone other than Peoples Choice work on my home. I trust them 100%. read more

People's Choice replaced our front porch just last month. The work quality is excellent. Leonard was thorough, very informative and communicated every aspect well, from quote through to project completion. His crew was excellent, on time and efficient. They checked in with me at each step (something I've had issues in the past with other contractors). I'd definitely hire them again. And yes, this is the same review I wrote on BBB and HomeAdvisor. I'm not a robot; I'm just too lazy to reword myself. read more

We've worked with People's Choice before, and they'd built a deck and a front porch for us. Both look amazing and are even better than we'd imagined. This year we hired Leonard to redo our kitchen: new cabinets, counters and walls. All was done on time, and the results are beautiful. He designed a new island and a coffee station that totally changed the look of the room. When unexpected things came up - like a scuff in floor the footprint of the old island - he had subcontractors come out to take care of it. In the end, it was on time, as quoted, and beautiful. read more

get everything in writing...check your measurements and your order twice...Do NOT give Leonard cash for ANY reason!!!

People's Choice Home Improvement is a top class home improvement team from the quote process to completion of the work. I was looking to renovate my master bathroom. It was easy to make the appointment for a quote. Leonard was punctual and professional, provided me with a copy of all related insurance documents, referrals, etc. People's Choice was the only itemized quote I received, all the others simply sent me a text or email. On the day they arrived to the day they completed the task, the team was professional and left the place extremely clean. I was kept up to date in progress and any changes made to the original plan. The work itself was top notch and even another vendor that came in commented on the great job they did. I highly recommend People's Choice Improvement. read more

Overall, It was a very bad experience. Before starting any project, I usually tend to search Angie's List,HomeAdvisor, Yelp, and google to get potential contractors. People's choice didn't catch my attention on Angie's list but he had good reviews on HomeAdvisor. Therefore, I thought it may not be a bad idea to get a different perspective. I called the office early last week, and set up a 10AM appointment with Leonard on Saturday. On Saturday he called me at 10am to tell me he'd be late. Since I was meeting with other contractors, I said it's OK, I can wait. He ended up coming at 10:40AM and didn't say anything. I thought it's in holiday seasons, it's understandable. He gave me a brochure introducing his company, to let me know my rights, and their license....etc. Then we began to go over the projects I wanted to do. First we started with a Kitchen sink installation. when I closed on the property, the home inspector said that the plumbing routing was not up to code. Leonard was reluctant to take a closer look, I thought he might be experienced so maybe he could give me a quote without seeing it closely. Then I asked him how he is going to correct the problem, he explained what he's going to do but I knew that's not the best way, based on what other grade A plumbers had told me, such as Goode Plumbing LLC (over 300 A reviews on Angie's list). So I thought it's fine, let's go to the next one. Maybe that's less of his specialty. Then we went to the bathroom, I asked him to install a wall-hung toilet,walk-in shower, tile..etc. While we went over the list, he said he'd like to do the whole job.I said, I'd love to find one general contractor that can handle it for me. Again, he told me how he would go about doing the job. From what I heard from him and comparing it to what other grade A contractors had told me, it was satisfactory but you can tell not the best option. He mentioned that it would cost more than $5,000 to redo the bathroom. After going over the bathroom, he also tried to get more work from me and asked if I want to do a bigger renovation such as the kitchen.I replied I'd love to, but not this year. As for the quote, I asked him to separate out the kitchen project from the bathroom. But Leonard refused. He said he'd only give me one lump sum price because the project amount is not that big. I said, but other contractors would at least lay out their steps, so that there is an understanding of what the project consist of. He said no, there is no point for him to spend so much time, just to bid on such a small amount of work. Then I said, if that's the case, I probably won't go with you because how would I be sure you are going to do the steps right. He said if I saw their HomeAdvisor reviews, their company has over 50 good reviews. I said that's fine, all the contractors I asked for quotes are all over 50 reviews, even over 250 in grade A reviews on Angie's list. He said I also need to consider that high reviews service providers may just do small jobs. I thought I agreed, but how can you be so sure your reviews are not. Contractors could create fake reviews. He ended up taking away the initial brochure he gave me and left. I actually glad that he did it, because I would throw it away afterwards. I understand contractors want to bid on a whole job, getting bigger projects. But they need to show customers they are capable of doing it. I understand that the way I want to do it, it may not be the best way. Good contractors will provide clients with alternative solutions that make sense, which I did not see Leonard doing. Anyway, overall is a really bad experience, but I'd say, thank God I didn't go with him. I won't recommend him to anyone. Update on 12-24. Leonard called me last night (12/23) while I shopped at Home Depot. He told me that if I don't remove this reviews, he is going to call the city to do the inspection on my unit, and threatened me to take further actions if I don't remove this review within one day. While he was talking to him, I put him on the speaker phone so that everybody in the Home Depot could heard our conversation. Several people gave me their contact information so that they would testify in the future. Early today, I talked my attorney, and she suggested me file a police report against Leonard. This morning (12/24). he called and said that if I removed this review, he will stop before anyone get hurt. I said I stand for my review, this is an honest, and correct review of what it happened. Then he hung up on me. read more

The whole process was smooth as can be from the beginning to the end. I explained to Leonard what I wanted and he offered a lot of great suggestions that I didn't even consider. In the end, I got exactly what I wanted and some extras all with in my budget. He explained everything thoroughly and was always available and very helpful. He even helped me out by ordering and picking up an appliance for me. During the whole process I didn't have to miss a day of work. Peter was just as great. He was super nice and very detailed, clean (such a project can get messy). We were very comfortable having him around, even if we weren't home. Awesome guys, great work, good price, what more can you ask for. I am so pleased with my new kitchen! I am already planning my next big project. I will definitely be using them in the future. read more

Working with Leonard was an extremely pleasant experience. He was attentive and responsive to all the questions we had and he was accessible and flexible in order to accommodate our work schedules. Once we made our choices on materials and appliances he took over from there...making the process as stress-free as it could possibly be. The materials he employs and his designs are top-notch, especially given the rather tight space he had to work with in our galley-style kitchen. The craftsmen he employs, in particular Peter and Jacob, were excellent and their work was exceedingly precise. Indeed, they took a great deal of care to keep the work-site clean which I noticed when, after they'd packed up, I found very little to clean even though I know they created a lot of dust doing their work. In terms of my kitchen project, my fear was that I had no way of knowing what atrocities were lurking beneath the walls of my 97 year old kitchen (remodeled god knows when). As it turns out, once we removed the cabinets we discovered gaping holes partially covered with bits of drywall and cement board (oddly enough none of that was used to reinforce the tile floor), pipes for gas lighting that were still active and connected to the gas line feeding the stove, old paper wrapped wiring, and a crazed maze of plumbing. Leonard and Peter didn't miss a beat, even though the scope of these issues was unexpected, and they essentially rebuilt the kitchen from the studs out with new wiring (removing all the old wiring they could find), new light fixtures, new electrical outlets, fixed the gas line (removing the old lighting pipes), and simplified the plumbing. My kitchen used to worry me with all its potential issues. Now its the one room in the house I have total confidence in. I'll definitely be using Leonard and his team for my next remodeling project. read more

Working with Leonard was easy; he's attentive, timely and very proud of the good work he and his team do. His team is fantastic, polite, talented and had great ideas on how to make our roof deck look amazing but not break the bank. Would certainly recommend and would hire again! read more

Highly professional experience overall. Work was completed within agreed upon timeframe, materials arrived exactly as we had discussed and ordered. Original estimate was slightly higher than another I received but it seemed Leonard (owner) was more knowledgeable and sincere. Very happy with final outcome. read more

I want to say thank you to People's Choice for the great job they did redoing my front porch. Leonard and his crew gave great advice about choices in materials. Leonard was responsive to all of my questions and his crew was prompt. The completed the project on time! Thanks guys. read more

All-purpose contractors who do a terrific job on brickwork and a reasonable job on installing new windows.... they changed wiondow crews between the two window jobs they did for me and the difference was huge - I am very happy with the second crew but not so much with the first. Leonard the owner gives good written estimates, calls when he says he will and shows up on time. Nice guys who work hard! read more

Peoples Choice Home Improvement has just completed a Wood Back Porch for our home and has done an excellent job. We highly recommend them. Leonard is very honest and delivers good customer service. read more

I am afraid this contractor is all talk and no action. Leonard came to my house and I explained what I wanted. He made some suggestions but no proposal forthcoming. I called. He called back and gave me a phone quote. That's it. I asked for a proposal on paper or email. Still waiting but no more. There ARE a lot of good contractors who will give you a written proposal. No one should proceed on a major project based only on a phone quote. End of Story. Got a written proposal from a very good contractor (and there are a lot of them) which was more than acceptable and went with that one. read more

People's Choice designed and built two porch decks for the 2nd and 3rd units of our condo. The team was very professional, finished the job in 4 days, cleaned up nicely and now we have decks which we can enjoy for the rest of the summer. Working with Leonard was a pleasure. read more

I have been working with PCHI since 2008. Leonard and his crews have done a number of jobs for me on a multi-unit property I own as well as my own home including 2 new roofs, a new porch system, bathroom remodel, new siding, concrete work, window install, and other basic handyman-type jobs. I would certainly recommend PCHI and Leonard for all your construction, home improvement, and general contracting needs. Leonard provides exceptional value as he's consistently the lowest cost provider. Leonard's crews do fantastic work and as they consistently meet or exceed expectations. Leonard is easy to work with as he's easily reachable, always returns calls, and always on time to appointments. Finally, Leonard is trustworthy, honest, and very reliable. If you're in need of a general contractor, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't at least give Leonard and PCHI a chance to bid on your job. read more

I hired Leonard and his crew to do a renovation on a recently purchased condo. The condo was bank-owned and in pretty rough shape. The projects included installation of an entirely new kitchen, re-tiling of two bathroom floors and showers, drywall installation, wall panelling, painting, floor refinishing and a number of other little touch ups. I was very nervous to hire a contractor for the first time and as a single woman, but this experience put any fears to rest. Leonard was very polite and easy to work with. He was constantly in touch with me letting me know how the work was coming along. His crew did an amazing job with every part of the project. My building is very old, meaning there aren't a lot of straight or level surfaces. The crew put in the time to make sure everything looked immaculate, even if that meant each tile had to be custom cut to fit my old walls. I had a general idea of the type of design I liked and Leonard brought several samples that matched my design aesthetic perfectly. He even had some really original design ideas that I really appreciated. Overall the project was a huge success and I wouldn't hesitate at all to use People's Choice in the future. read more
