Marva M. Chicago, IL Untrustworthy. Without my knowledge wood flooring installation was subcontracted to an unlicensed contractor. Within 2 months of installation the floors began to sink in some areas and rise in other areas. Also, the contractor used the wrong tools to shave the main exit door, thereby damaging the door, and the closet doors were not reinstalled properly. Calls to Ziggy, the owner of MPD Construction, were not returned. I filed complaints with the Chicago Department of Business and Consumer Affairs and with the Illinois Attorney General's Office . The Chicago Department of Business and Consumer Affairs fined MPD for a number of violations including fraud (docket #19CS007451, tracking number SR#18-02118461). In his written statement, Ziggy lied to the Illinois Attorney General. read more

I have had a terrible experience with MPD and would not recommend this company at all. I have followed up with them about a dozen times over the past 4 months about my project, but they have not delivered a thing. All my other vendors during my remodel have been amazing. read more

MPD is great. All three projects I've hired them for were small but still important to me. Ziggy listened to my issues and gave me a quote in a timely manner. David processed everything with my building and then with settling up at the end. The crew does outstanding work. David was rude and condescending over the phone. Unnecessarily. I'm trying to complete a floor replacement in my building and spoke to him twice. The first time he was great but when we followed up and realized it wasn't a done deal and his tone changed. Unbelievable to me how a grown man can raise his voice at someone and stay in business. I wanted to completely redo my bathroom. Ziggy gave me a timetable and costs up front. The job took a couple of days longer than planned, but for logical reasons. His workmen were here every day on time and worked hard until the end of the day. His tiler, Joe, is an artist. The job came in for slightly less than estimated! Ziggy and his crew just completed some renovations in my downtown condo. Removed a gas fireplace, fixed the floor where it was, refinished the floor and some electrical work. The result is fantastic. They completed the job on time, and my neighbors had no complaints about noise or mess. All the crew members were professional. The only small area for improvement might be communication; this was my first rodeo, so I was interested in updates. I got them when I called, but did have to call for them. we had to enclose our second bedroom and open up a big space for windows- we are happy with the result- the crew was hard working, arrived on time and didn't make a mess. the project manager Chris was easy to work with. we plan to use them again for the bathroom renovation. highly recommended!! read more

The manager (I think his name is David) is rude and condescending over the phone. The quote he gave was twice as much as another contractor. If you are going to over charge, at least get a friendlier manager who is less off putting to potential customers. read more

MPD remodeled my bathroom and recently worked on my kitchen. We had a bit of a delay getting started on the kitchen, but it worked out fine. I've used MPD in the past for kitchen renovation and the quality of work was so terrific that they're replacing my master bath in a few weeks. Ziggy knows what he's doing and his workers have always been top-notch and respectful of my property. They just redecorated (painting and wall covering) the rest of my place last month and the craftsmanship was perfect. My projects are small-time, but MPD is the go-to contractor here in our downtown condo building. I'm perplexed about the 2013 review listed below; sounds as if there's more to the story than that. I was uncertain about posting this as it might keep MPD too busy for the next time I might need them, but they've pretty much done everything for me. I'd definitely call them -- and no one else -- next time. UPDATE: The bathroom renovation followed their same pattern of craftsmanship. The company went out of it's way to insure quality and satisfaction. They have several other projects ongoing just in our building -- doesn't that say something? In summary, don't overthink this. read more
