I will not write a rambling review. Peter and his crew ruined my home with stain all over brand new doors, cabinets snd caked on baseboards which I spent 3 hours covering with painters tape. I have to repaint 3 doirs , scrape the cabinets and baseboards and paint them all for $2000. He yelled at me when I got upset and I kicked him out of my home. Do not hire him to do your floors. . Peter and his guys were great. ALWAYS on time, hard working, and the project was done as the timeline was explained. Work was done consistently. I give a lot of bonus points for that. We even had two phases due to an issue that his guys discovered in our house that needed to be fixed. We took out carpet, added floors and blended with existing, and added hardwood to stairs and a landing which had been carpeted, then sanded and stained all of it. Pretty big job. Sanding is messy, but the guys cleaned up everyday so we could live there. They moved out furniture into the garage for storage during the project, then brought it back. Peter and his crew were amazing. We were on a tight schedule to complete the refinishing of our hardwood floors before moving in to our new house. Peter came out promptly to give an estimate and his crew were able to start work three days later. We needed around 1,100 sq ft of hardwood sanding and refinishing and it included removal of a carpet in the master bedroom and a strange almost plasterboard material that was under the carpet. The guys got the work done in 4 days and did an amazing job, the floors look beautiful - Peter and his crew's quality of work far exceeded our expectations. We hired Peter and his team to refinish 1700 sq feet of very red Brazilian cherry wood that we hated. We let him know we wanted to explore lighter finishes or painting the floor. Peter advised against this, but was willing to see through some experiments with us, as he knew how bad we wanted those finishes, and did his best to make us happy, and explain all options and alternatives. Ultimately, he was right, and we decided to stain the floor black, but really didn't want a shiny top coat and and instead, wanted it to look like there was not a top coat. Again, Peter produced solutions for us, and we used an "invisible" top coat, which we love. The photos shown are of the finished floors. I own my own interior design business, and so it's important to me to find solid customer service and professionalism, and also equally important that the contractor be open minded and solution orientated, so that we can end up with unique and beautiful results. Peter was exceptional, and his work was outstanding. In fact, he might be the only contractor we used that exceeded all of our expectations and has been a pleasure to work with beginning to end. I'm giving Peter and his company only two stars because of the service or lack there of. The quality of his crew's work was good and my floors turned out great and the price was right (One star for each of those high points.) However, the job was not complete. The crew did 5 rooms and 3 closets but not the kitchen. We were told that we had to prep the kitchen for his guys to come back. That meant peeling off the old tile, removing the asbestos tile and scrapping the glue off. My fiancé did all this work to keep our price down. We did all this work in anticipation that Peter's crew would come back when he said they would. Unfortunately they never came back when they said they would. It's been over three weeks and has held up three phases of our remodel as well as our move in date. All we heard from Peter was yeah ok we'll be out there Monday or as soon as this other job is complete. Not only that, but we had to contact Peter to find out why no one showed up when he said they would. We left our key out and everything! Not cool! He is not proactive at following up. Not only that but heed this warning: he's not there to watch his crew. They ended up drinking beer out of our fridge and helping themselves to other beverages in the fridge and ate their lunch where chunks of bread and meat where left all over for us to clean up. If you want this type of service then call A-one. I personally will not use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more

I totally regret hiring these guys. Peter is great when he shows up for the initial consultation and very professional. He gave me the cheapest estimate so I hired him. In my case, they were very quick to start tearing stuff out and begin the job. Then I waited for them to return. And waited. And waited. They took on multiple jobs and would come to my house in their spare time. Peter hardly every came over. His workers didn't speak English, only Spanish, and many times I had different workers coming over. It didn't appear that Peter communicated my instructions to his workers because they installed some things wrong. I tried to tell them how I wanted things installed but they didn't understand. One of their workers was using my kitchen utensils for tools! I wondered if they were day laborers that were hired that morning. If that were the case, I could have picked these guys up myself. My place was a disaster when they "finished". I truly get aggravated every time I walk into my house. I'm told that they provide a warranty for their "workmanship". I called and called but they never came back. I was going to sue but after talking to a lawyer, I saw that the legal fees would be much higher than what these guys charged me!! I learned a valuable lesson and will never hire the company with the cheapest estimate ever again. I have to pay another contractor to fix everything now. Instead of paying twice and having to take time off of work again, I should have gone with a more expensive and professional company. read more

I was referred to A-One Flooring thru the realtor. After the "contract to purchase" was excepted I had limited time and no access to the unit in order to hire contractors. I called Peter, sent him the dimensions and some photos. His estimate was very reasonable and he promised to start the job the day after closing. Just prior to closing I confirmed the start date as well as the scope of work. A-One showed up on time, followed thru with the work and we were more than pleased with the results. The techs who worked on the floors were Raul and Antonio. Raul's English was fine and he supervised Antonio. They even helped remove a broken sink that was over the floor. Working with A-One was a great experience! We moved into a split level ranch with original wood floors that needed to be refinished. We received four quotes and Peter's was the second lowest... but his knowledge, experience and communication skills won the job. Peter and his crew did an amazing job on time and on budget! I was amazed how beautifully they sanded the staple holes from former carpet and old pet stains. I had a nightmare problem with my floors in a new condo. I refinished the floors my self and used some crappy products from Home Depot, long story short my condo still smelled after a MONTH! We scheduled the work for 2 weeks after the estimate because he had other jobs already scheduled which I understood. The day Peter was suppose to show up he doesn't show and does not call. When I bought a home I lined up services to do some remodeling to my home so I can move in on time. I made a mistake and hired a hardwood floor guy who basically messed up the entire house and when confronted walked away from the job leaving me with a disaster on my hands with 1 week left to go before I move in. I called A-One flooring and had Peter come out for an estimate. He quickly noticed all of the mistakes and flaws the previous hardwood floor guy made. After pointing out the negatives he confidently set my mind at ease by saying that he can fix everything that was damaged by the previous company and actually improve the quality of all the floor rather than adding to it. Again with painters and plumbers running around and 1 week left Peter promised me that he will do his best to get me and my family in. The work started and Peter and the guys were great communicators and there was no problem they could not fix. They finished our floor and I have to say I have never seen a better job in my life. Peter took it personally and tried to get me into that house on time no matter what it took. Him and his guys were there before 8AM and sometimes left at 1AM just to stay on schedule. We used Peter and his crew for a last minute flooring disaster... we had previously had bamboo flooring that was stained a yellow-ish (very ugly) color. A different company came in to begin the project, assuring us that they would make it a beautiful walnut brown color. After running into problems, however, these contractors quit halfway through the project and left our floor in shambles. This is where Peter and A-One Flooring come in. They were extremely knowledgeable on the subject and assured us that they would make the floors beautiful. Although it was difficult to trust after our previous experience, we hired Peter to do the job. I have to say it was the best decision we made. I am a general contractor and I hired A-1 Flooring to do 2 jobs for me this past summer. Peter came out to look at the job, sent me a contract and we began work. During the course of working with him I have had over 5 call backs on both jobs. Peter will make appointments then cancel at the last minute.My customers have gotten so frustrated they do not want him in their house anymore.His lack of supervision and poor workmanship is what stands out with this company. They damaged my floors several times, leaving without sealing the floors with a coating while refinishing. It took a year to get Peter to return, only to be verbally attacked repeatedly when I addressed their faulty work. At their second attempt, they were still incapable of refinishing the floors, leaving bubbles over the surface of the wood floors. Peter refused to repair, was unprofessional, never showed up on time, and continued to verbally attack me via email and on the phone in regards to my desire to have the floor done properly. Received an estimate from Peter. He said he needed to see the thickness of the floors and broke a piece of our flooring during the estimate. He did not have any tools with him nor in his van. This seemed unprofessional and though at the time he said he would fix the broken piece he is now refusing to return to fix it. The estimate turned out to cost us money in order to get the contractor we did hire to replace the piece. Peter broke it and will not take responsibility for it. He instead chose to blame the contractor we hired for not replacing the piece as part of the job. Peter's mistake so should be Peter's responsibility to fix it. Do not hire this fool! read more

I'm kicking myself because I had the same exact experience as one of the other yelp reviewers. I even read that review before going with these guys but figured it was one rare experience. I was impressed by Peter's initial responsiveness - he even called to let me know he would be early when meeting to give me an initial quote to see if that was ok! He seemed knowledgeable and gave me the least expensive quote. Seemed great. Then the day came for him to actually start the work and... no sign of Peter! Not even a phone call. When I called to find out what was going on, (when I finally got him on the phone) he told me he was a bit behind in a job but he'd be here tomorrow. Ok, I thought, that sets me back but it's not the end of the world. So the next day I'm waiting to meet Peter at the house, and... again, he's a no show and doesn't even call. Now I'm pretty annoyed. I finally get him on the phone and he explains to me that contractors never stay on schedule (I found this especially infuriating since at the time I was working with a number of contractors, all of whom showed up when they said they would). In the end, he kept promising to show up and then would push back the date. He delayed and delayed and delayed to the point where he had to rush the job to get it done before my move-in date. There were unfinished areas, uneven floorboards, spilled filling on the banisters and mantels, and all around the job was shoddy. I ended up having to spend more than I would have had I gone with a more expensive company because in the end I had to call in someone else to fix the mess these guys left. I have never worked with someone so unprofessional, and hope you'll avoid the mistakes I made by thinking the negative yelp reviews weren't anything to be worried about. read more
