Dave and his team are absolutely amazing. We are on our third project with Dan and would never consider anyone else to come in. He was able to put in an amazing kitchen floor, replaced a front entry someone else install and completely failed at and now are fixing the laundry/utility room that has been a pain for too many years. My new floors look fantastic and they finished earlier than expected. We received quotes from other places (including a "famous" company with a jingle for their number with a quote almost 3x as much). Db Flooring offered the best price and product. The entire lower level of our duplex down flooded so we had to rip out all the carpet, Dan recommended a glue-down deluxe vinyl plank that would look great and hold up to possible water damage and pet stains. I recommend this company for the following reasons: 1. Affordable and accurate estimate 2. Excellent communication 3. Quality products and services 4. Workers showed up on time and finished the entire project early 5. Professional and courteous read more

Just had the kitchen backsplash done today and it looks gorgeous (will refinish the cabinets and paint the wall, so kitchen will be prettier XD) Dan was really professional, responsive and prompt. After I contacted him, he came to take a look at the backsplash in about 3 days and gave me a quote in 2 days. Told me how much and the type of materials (tiles & grout) I need for the project. Double checked with me the night before to make sure to bring the right cutting tools. Everything went very smooth this morning. Dan also warned me there might be a chance the overlap part between the countertop and the original backsplash may have been unfinished, so we even made a backup plan, but luckily that part was finished. The area needed to be done was about 15 sq ft and Dan's two people crew finished in about 2.5 hours including waiting time for grout to dry. Work was also in good quality and I highly recommend them for kitchen backsplash remodeling. read more

DB Flooring is an excellent company to do business with! I love local companies when it comes to trade work and Yelp was right on with recommending Dan at DB Flooring. He was a pleasure to work with and did the work for a reasonable cost. Our project was pretty unorthodox and had a bunch of delays on our end. They initially came out to tear up the old floor and discovered some seepage. That lead to a bigger plumbing issue which we were able to correct before laying the new floor. Dan was able to squeeze us into his team's schedule to get the project completed in time. The communication throughout the whole process was great. The actual work crew did a great job. Jim and his son Jim were both friendly and hard working. The results were great and we are pleased with the details (corner round, plank staggering, transition rails). They worked well with other contractors we had doing work at the same time and were done in 2 days. They cleaned up their mess and made sure to protect our items when moving them. I highly recommend DB Flooring for all of your flooring needs!! read more

Found this person on Angies List... seemed good. Rethinking my AL membership. Hired for tear-out of exisitng carpet and installation of high-quality bamboo laminate flooring for hallway, 2 bedrooms and closets. Approximately 500 sq ft at $1.15 per sq ft = 580.00. The main areas of flooring went in appropriately, the issues are in the finishing work. DAMAGE - CUTTING CORNERS (Literally and Metaphorically) Undercutting my door frames to get the laminate in... they cut TOO high in several areas, but the worst was in the main hallway. 1/4-1/2" of door frame gone OVER the flooring... score marks where mistakes in cutting went even higher. Wood in corners as much as 1/3" and in places where quarter round cant go... he didnt even bother trying to put in putty. Closets were even worse, but at least those corners are not as visible. DOOR FRAMES Cracked door frames... where the line went up 2-2.5' (thats feet people, NOT inches)... pointed that out after the installation, after the corners of gaps and annoying scrap use etc. He doesnt say anything, but then runs some white putty up the door to cover it. DAN BECK - "STANDING" BEHIND WORK Its now over 6 weeks since he did the work... he conveniently decided that the the door frames were NOT something he agreed to fix. He texts me IRONICALLY... that he stands behind his work... but that I should get SOMEONE ELSE to fix this. CONCLUSION I am going to have a real carpenter/flooring person(s) come and give estimates on the repair. Complaints filed with Angies List and BBB Chicago. read more

Dan and his team are awesome!! We wanted to put wood grain tile in our basement after our carpet was destroyed by a recent flood. Dan and team expertly tiled our lower unit and after not being able to find matching trim, they hand cut tile to use as trim giving it a really modern and uniform look. From prep to finish, these guys were dynamite. We are so happy to have our lower level back. Thanks Dan!! read more

I loved the way my shower turned out. The last one was a DYI job done by the previous owner and as I suspected once the tile was out there was water getting in behind the walls. The guys tore everything out and replaced the sheet rock and put in new 2x4's. The were very professional did everything as asked. Like people said there is a bit of a mess afterwards, the dust gets everywhere. I suggest having someone come in and do a through cleaning after. The other thing to note is these guys do not do plumbing. I needed a new shower drain. Dan was able to suggest someone who came out did a good job and wound up charging me less than quoted. Jerry, who laid the actual tile was very friendly, accommodated my schedule and even let me know when/if he would be late. He even confirmed tile placement before setting them. read more

I had a couple estimates to retile my kitchen floor. Dan seemed much more knowledgable and helpful as well as quoting a reasonable price. He voluntarily offered tips on selecting tile that were helpful. My in-laws were at the house when the job was being completed and commented about how he really knew what he was doing and I chose the right guy. My tile was picked up at the store and old materials hauled away, I didn't have to worry about anything. He even fit me into his schedule a little sooner due to a family crisis, to which I was incredibly grateful. Most importantly I LOVE my new kitchen floor. Don't even think twice, hire Dan and you'll be happy. read more

Dan and his team are professional and punctual. They completed all the tile in our renovated bathroom in record time. We have recommended them to many family and friends and everyone has LOVED their work. Great attention to detail and we look forward to using them again! read more

Dan and his team are amazing!! I had a ton of questions as I've never had to renovate a bathroom before and he was wonderful, kind and patient with all my constant questions :). The team was just as nice and respectful. They kept the work area very clean and free of debris. Their quality work is amazing. The time and detail they take into consideration - making sure the veining of the tile makes a cohesive pattern (which I didn't even think about) suggestions on what grout color would look best and making sure lines are perfectly straight. I will absolutely be hiring DB Flooring for all my tile needs. You will not regret hiring them I can 100% guarantee that. read more

I decided to make several custom upgrades to my 5 year old condo. I contacted Dan for tile installation as kitchen wall backsplash. Since I decided to use custom colors to repaint my unit, I thought that the kitchen wall might be easier to clean using tile. Dan did a great job and selected a tan grout that is the perfect color match. I had to special order the particular glass mosiac tile from a local tile store. The glass mosaic tile was very expensive at $14 per square foot. My new tile backsplash (see photo) looks spectacular and it's color shows off the floor-to-ceiling maple cabinets, black granite countertops, and wood flooring in my kitchen. read more

We recently hired Dan at DB Flooring to do a complex stone fireplace installation. His pricing was very competitive. We ran into a several issues the first two days of work. There were some things we weren't happy with (lack of dust prevention, tile placement) and others we realized we should have done a better job of communicating. We reviewed the things we needed fixed with Dan and he was more than happy to make all requested changes. Despite the initial hiccups Dan: - never tried to charge more, even though the work took longer than expected - was always extremely professional / polite, even when we were being picky - made requested changes without complaint - was on time every day and easy to get a hold of - made suggestions for improving the final look of the fireplace that we never considered, and didn't ask for more money even though he did additional work for these upgrades Although the project took longer than expected, in the end, we are very happy with the work and customer service and would hire him again. We've already asked him about coming back to do our kitchen. read more

We recently hired Dan to lay some tile in a small 1/2 bathroom. In the end, the project turned out looking very nice, so I'm giving 4 stars. There are just a few negatives (and they aren't that negative) that I will detail below (along with the positives!). The bathroom originally had hardwood in it (installed by the builder). Hardwood in a bathroom is a terrible idea, btw. The builder also seated the toilet badly, so there was seepage, and the hardwood warped, etc. We finally decided to tear it out and put in tile. I did about 95% of the demo work. I ripped up the hardwood, took off the baseboards, removed the fixtures, etc. Then I just asked Dan to lay the tile. He also had to tear out some hardwood near the border / doorway. They damaged the door frame a bit when tearing out this hardwood, but I've never ripped hardwood out from under a door frame before. Maybe they did as good as you can do. They laid the tile very straight, and they of course laid some cement board under it to make it nice and firm. Overall, the tile was done very nicely. There were just a few places where the cut in some areas chipped off a bit of the tile, so the edge wasn't perfect. They were luckily in places where it won't matter much (e.g., near back of toilet, etc.). I then put the baseboards back on and did everything else from there. For what they did, I think they charged a good price (I bought the tile too). One thing they could improve on is being a little cleaner while they work and picking up / cleaning more after they are done. They wore their boots into the house in the winter without booties. I kind of get this because they had to go outside to cut tile, but they only had one blanket to lay on the floor. I ended up laying several towels for them to walk on. Then, they got grout on several places on the walls and door frame. There was also a lot of excess grout in some areas that I had to scrape off so it didn't show. But in the end, most of this stuff was fixable by me without showing much or at all. Overall, this was a good experience. We shouldn't have had to redo a bathroom in a new house, so I was NOT in the mood to spend a lot on this bathroom. Dan allowed me to redo the bathroom at a reasonable price. And it turned out great. read more

I can't say enough about Dan and his business. We had a cracked old tile and a shower that needed grout touch ups and caulking. Dan himself came out on a Saturday to evaluate and give an estimate. He knew our timeline was tight and he planned accordingly. He was easy to reach by phone, text, email and very kind. He answered every question I had quickly and thoroughly without ever a hint of frustration or hesitation. It made the process seamless. On the day of work he showed up with one of his staff Pete, and reviewed again everything that would be done. Our bathroom looks incredible. As we are approaching the sale of our home a broker noted another spot to touch up. I sent Dan pictures and within the day he responded that Pete would be back to touch it up to our satisfaction in less than 3 days. Pete was also so easy to work with and frankly did a phenomenal job. We are so grateful to DB flooring, Dan and his crew. Thank you all! read more

My husband and I had Dan and his crew re-tile our master bathroom and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. After calling around to get a handful of quotes, we went with DB Flooring because of the competitive pricing. What we didn't expect was Dan's level of professionalism. He and his crew showed up on time every morning before we left for work and locked up when they were done for the day. Dan would send updates (and photos) of the progress so that we knew what was going on at home. His team even hauled a 300-pound vanity up two flights of stairs!! Better yet, they were able to finish the job in a week. We will absolutely call Dan again when we have our next tiling job. Can't recommend this company enough! Thank you, Dan! read more

DB Flooring recently removed approximately 800 SF of old engineered hardwood flooring and installed new vinyl plank flooring on my first floor. They also removed and replaced tile on my fireplace. I could not be happier with all of the work performed. Dan and his crew were hard working, respectful and did a great job. They uncovered a larger mess than anticipated, adjusted their plan and left me with a beautiful new floor and fireplace. I felt completely comfortable giving them keys and leaving them in my home, unsupervised, while I was at work. Pricing was competitive. Dan was a pleasure to deal with. He is extremely responsive and was always more than happy to answer my long list of questions. I highly recommend DB Flooring! read more
