I'm a repeat customer, so this is my second review of Modern Quality Flooring. Danny met me at our new condo in Oak Park right after our closing, and gave us several great options for our new bedroom floors. He took extra effort to give me 4 different estimates for each of the options. While he was measuring the rooms, he also pointed out an electrical outlet issue that I hadn't seen! His team did a fantastic job throughout! They neatly and efficiently removed all the old nasty carpeting, installed the soundproofing layer, the engineered oak flooring, and all the baseboards and thresholds. They were so patient and considerate while I had 2 electricians working on the same day (not exactly ideal, but couldn't be avoided). The most impressive thing to me was their attention to detail and quality work. Even the baseboards were neatly cut to fit around the old radiator covers perfectly. They also do kitchens and other jobs, and I plan to call Danny again for future work. read more

Danny and his team at Modern Quality Flooring were beyond outstanding, I truly cannot praise them and their work enough. My fiancé and I tried to refinish our floors ourselves, but after 2 days we quickly realized we needed a professional. We reached out to 4 different companies. Every other company was condescending and poked fun at us for trying to do it ourselves. Danny came out immediately for a consultation, explained the entire process, and emailed me a quote the next day. From start to finish he was kind, soft spoken, took the time to explain every detail and the reasoning behind their process. We immediately wanted to move forward with Modern Quality Flooring. We confirmed with him on a Monday, his team of 3 started Tuesday and were done by Thursday. I am truly blown away at the efficiency and quality of work, such an incredible value and well worth every penny. They replaced some boards due to urine stains from previous owner and you could not even tell where they replaced the boards. They filled in nail spots and areas where the wood boards wouldn't reach our new, thinner base trim. Danny sanded an area to put down 2 stains to show me how the wood would take the stain. It was so great to see a sample of the stain on my actual floors, so there was no guessing in how the finish would turn out. Danny and his team were so kind, respectful, and patient throughout the entire process. If you are questioning getting your floors refinished, look no further. Don't waste any time, just go with Danny and Modern Quality Flooring. I promise you won't be disappointed!! read more

I used Modern Quality Flooring for a condo renovation a few years ago and wanted to use them again to redo the house my wife and I recently purchased. Danny and his team do an absolutely amazing job I highly recommend using them for your floors. We couldn't be happier with our new hardwood floors! read more

This is my second time working with Danny and his team. Danny is very responsive and goes above and beyond in his service. He is very accommodating to ensure our schedules align. The sanding equipment is (virtually) dustless. When I came to see the sanded and varnished sample, there was no dust in the air. Secondly, he uses a low-VOC varnish which leaves hardly any smell. He was able to schedule me quickly and did a great job on my new home. Thanks Danny and team! read more

Where do I begin with how amazing, professional, and perfectionist modern quality flooring is. If you are getting quotes from other people do not bother. No one is as meticulous and talented as Danny. We used Danny and his team to redo the floors (pine, red oak, and parquet wood floors) of our entire house (2400 sq ft). We are first time homebuyers who have no clue about anything. Danny not only redid our floors to perfection but fixed a random door inside, fixed our stairs, redid the crown molding and gave us tips on our home throughout the process. Because we loved him so much we asked him his advice on painting. Amazingly enough - Him and his guys ended up replastering and repainting every inch of our house. He is fair priced, sticks to the timeline (we had to be done by a certain date and he and his crew worked tirelessly to finish the job). He is so incredibly talented with old homes and my floors look like they were just cut from old growth trees and put in!!! And both floors and painting are DUSTLESS! I cannot say enough good things about danny and his company. He is truly a diamond in the rough. Will never overcharge or price gauge you. He explains everything and took such care of the house (which is very old and has a million problems by the way). One day i got a message from our water bill that said there might be a leak - danny went to our house and turned our water off and checked everything for us he then recommended a plumber who ended up saving us as well. Anyone danny uses is good in my eyes. So, long story short: in this day and time, I trust very few contractors (especially because we are new home owners and our zip code in a "nice" area). Danny not only gained my trust as a contractor but went above and beyond to help us understand our home, fix things, and created literal perfection with floors and painting. If you are looking for a floor / painting / everything guy DANNY IS YOUR GUY!! (Trust me...I got several quotes because everyone told me to on floors and painting) I am attaching pics so you can all see my special walnut floors. And my pristine walls. TLDR: danny is the best floor guy, will always be fair, professional, and genuinely cares about his clients / restoring old homes and doing things "the right way". Will also give you advice and fix stuff on his own merit. Do not waste time with anyone else. And its all dustless! 10/5 stars! read more

Danny and his team were a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them for your next project. 1. They were on time for all of their appointments. 2. Danny answered all of my questions and was thorough in his description of what him and his team were going to do. 3. They got the job done when they said they were going to get the job done. 4. They put up sheets to protect the kitchen which kept it clean. They left, and the house was as clean as we left it. 5. The job itself looked great at the end! No splotches, no splatters on the baseboards, no mess. It was beautifully done! I look forward to working with Danny and his team again soon. read more

I've truly never had a better service experience. Danny treated me and my husband like family and he treated the work on our house as if it was his own. He came out for measurements and a quote on Monday for refinishing and restaining our hardwood floors, and his crew was able to start work on Thursday (even earlier than initially anticipated). They completed the job in less than a week! Danny is a true professional, he pays attention to details like changing out floor vents to match the new floor and feel more modern as well as ensuring the baseboards are flush against the floor. He offered and showed us many different stains and finishes and encouraged us to take our time with making the color choices. His crew worked early mornings to late afternoon and left the house spotless, you would never say the entire floor of the house was sanded down. The finished floor looks incredible, Danny and his crew fixed some boards and imperfections and truly made it look incredible. They even took the time to move the kitchen appliances to ensure they refinished the floors under them in case we exchanged appliances in the future. Danny is prompt in his communication, he's knowledgeable about the work and the products, and his prices are very fair and much lower than other competitors that have quoted us. He also took the time to educate us on cleaning products and floor care to keep the floors in great shape over the years. I'm posting before and after photos but they truly don't do the floor justice. read more

We bought a condo which requires some hardwood floor refinishing work. I literally spent 10+ hours researching online trying to find a good pro in our area. Danny came in very responsive to my inquiries and his pricing was very competitive. He explained the whole process to us in detail and finished the work nice and quick, earlier than planned so that we could move in without a delay. The floor looks like brand new after the work! At the end, he walked me through the whole unit, explained all the things I should pay attention to. He even went into details of how to maintain, clean the hardwood floor. What's even better, recently, a heavy metal accidentally fell onto our floor and cause a deep dent. I contacted Danny (with very little hope actually) but he replied immediately and came in on a Saturday morning to have it fixed for free! Danny is super easy to work with once you get to know him and he is professional on what he is doing for sure! Will highly recommend him and his team to whoever needs floor work. read more

Just had our floors done - beautiful! Company was great - here early morning which I really liked. Worked fast to get job complete so we can move things back. Smell was strong (which I knew upfront) yet died down pretty quick. Little to no mess on there part. Would recommend! read more

My partner and I just purchased a condo in Rogers Park and our floors needed some TLC and a refinishing! We contacted MQF for a quote and they were quick to provide us with a detailed quote. Danny took care to explain the process to us. We had some major cracks in our floor due to house settling issues and Danny and his team repaired it so well that I couldn't even notice where the crack was! Work for our approximately 900 sqft condo took about 3 days. We especially appreciated the time Danny took to explain maintenance of the floors and being careful about the movers scuffing the floor! All in all, we were extremely satisfied with our "like brand new" floors! We will be recommending MQF to our friends and may go to them again to re-tile our bathrooms. read more

I rarely write reviews and am delighted to do so here: Danny and his team were excellent and went above and beyond. We hired them to refinish two bedroom floors and through the process, Danny was helpful, informative and a clear expert. When he arrived for the estimate, he gave me helpful pointers on my floors in general (like using felt pads), which was appreciated. His estimate was not the lowest I received but it was fair and I was happy to pay more for his experience and dustless approach and technology to refinishing. Afterwards, they were able to squeeze me in over the weekend. His team was prompt, careful, and attentive to detail -- using drop cloths and even fixing minor imperfections in other floors. The floors themselves are beautiful and look like new. I highly recommend them and would hire them again in an instant! read more

Danny and his team did a GREAT job. We are thrilled with the end result. Fast and efficient. They truly know their craft. Impeccable details. No stain on the trim or carpets. No idea how that was accomplished. Floors look like new. I highly recommend Danny and his team at Modern Quality Flooring. read more

My experience has been poor, Danny called me over a week ago and at that time he stated he would call me back so we could set up an appointment for estimate and explanation of work project. It is going on two week and Danny has not called me nor contact me in any form. Very disappointed with this. read more

I am so happy we found Danny and his team at Modern Quality Flooring. We struggled for months working with Home Depot on a flooring and kitchen renovation project, and it never got off the ground. I started feeling hopeless. Then, I met Danny from Modern Quality Flooring! He was on-time for the estimate home visit, and within just a few days, provided the workup and how much it would cost. We live in a 100-year-old apartment and previous owners had put two layers of ugly tile on top of hardwood flooring. We asked Danny and his crew to remove all of the additional layers so we can just get down to the bare hardwood and start refinishing it. On the day of the job, the Modern Quality Flooring crew arrived on-time, and they were incredibly respectful, hardworking and efficient. As a bonus, after the *extremely* messy job was complete, they cleaned up so well that the kitchen looked cleaner than before the job even began. We are looking forward to using Danny and Modern Quality Flooring for the refinishing of the rest of our home, and I'll be sure to provide pictures once that's complete. read more

Not impressed. l hired Modern Quality Flooring to replace some broken boards in a 3x5 section of flooring. 1) A fee is charged if using a credit card and I was urged to pay cash via Zelle (no recourse for incorrect work), 2) work that should have been obviously included (replacing broken sleepers) was omitted from initial proposal - there would have been an extra charge if I did not understand the floor structure below and insist on that being added before signing off on contract. 3) There is now a noticeable dip in the repaired area where there wasn't one before - perhaps from being sanded too much. The whole point of the floor repair was to make a safe, even surface for people to walk on. The owner was present and highly knowledgeable during diagnosis of structural issues below the floorboards and communicated/instructed employee on how to do the job but it appears the worker did not do as instructed. No follow-up visit was done by owner to see how it looked before the finish applied - just a phone call to tell me they were going to do the finishing and my final payment due - they even tried to get out of doing the agreed on two coats. Perhaps other individuals have had a better experience with the quality of MQF's work but I am very disappointed with the results - not as expected. I did not call them back because I did not want to deal with them again to complain, discuss or correct the mistake. Wasted money - should have called someone else. read more

Take some time and read the "filtered" reviews before you judge this company... I have hired Danny and Modern Quality Flooring to refinish floors almost 7 times now and could not ask for a better experience. Here are the things I look for in a company that Danny and MQF deliver in excess: 1 - Personal - someone who will actually talk to me about my options. I have large dogs in my home and Danny took the time to not only discuss different finishes but what could be done to preserve the floors. 2 - Punctual - if they say they are going to start at a date and time - they are there spot on time. In fact I had a time sensitive project one time and Danny actually sent extra guys to get it done sooner. 3 - Professional - don't think that these are the kind of guys that are going to trash your house and leave. They pick up their mess, clean up after their work, and make sure that things are locked up when they leave. As VP of a large real estate company I hear horror stories from many clients and agents about "Discount" flooring people who do this on the side. Danny and Modern Quality Flooring are always the ones that I recommend and put my name on the line for. 5 Stars in my book - and one that I will stake my reputation on any time. read more

Dusting off my yelp profile here to give Danny and MQF a five star review. He just redid my hardwood floors in my two bedroom unit. This was not your average "freshen up your floor"--these were original floors in a 100 year old building that I had already spent months repairing cracked and missing sections. I am really stunned at how incredible they look, far better than I envisioned. They look high quality and the price was fair. Danny and his team showed up on time for the estimate and each day of work and he also is easy to reach via phone. They clean up after their work very well as well--sanding can be a dusty job but I felt like my unit was very clean. The poly is still curing but when it is dry I will upload some pictures here, I am truly thrilled with the work done. read more

Danny and his team did a beautiful job on our floors, he is truly an artist. We had a different flooring company do a separate repair and his professionalism, quality, and skill was clearly superior. He is licensed and came with references. Would highly recommend! read more

When I first reached out to Danny through a referral from our realtor, he scheduled a consultation quickly and was able to provide a quote the next day. We also had a damaged side board in the kitchen and Danny said that if we supplied a baseboard, he would install it at no additional cost. Danny and his team showed up right on time and when promised, and everything was completed in the timeframe he specified in the quote. We were actually going out of the country the day the job started, so when he was finished Danny took pictures of everything and emailed them to us so we could see how everything turned out. It was a great benefit of working with Danny to know that everything was done and to see the finished product while we were out of town so we knew we had nothing to worry about. The floors look fantastic and the new baseboard flows perfectly to the rest of the room. We are very happy to have used Modern Quality Flooring and will definitely use them again whenever we have any flooring needs! read more

We hired Danny and MQF to refinish the floor in our TV room. The room is separate from our other hardwood floors and we thought we would do it as a 'test' before we bite the bullet with the rest of the house. The floor came out great. We followed Danny's recommendations to simply sand and refinish as opposed to stain, as the floor has an inlaid design that would have been hidden with stain. And when these guys say dust-free, they mean dust-free. They showed up on time, finished the job on schedule and fully disclosed all conditions and details. We will definitely use them for the rest for the house. read more

Danny is a true professional! He was very upfront with the entire process and followed through on all his commitments. He even fixed something that a previous contractor did wrong... and it wasn't even flooring related. I will be using Modern Quality Flooring again!! read more

Danny and his team did a wonderful job again! We have an older home that needs a lot of work and updating, like most we don't have an endless supply of money and therefore need to plan, budget and update in stages. Danny has been great! He has been consultative along the way to ensure that the overall look I want is achieved and helps us plan for the future. This last job he quoted well over a year a go, gave us a cost breakdown if we did a room at a time, all at once and knowing we were on a budget offered a suggestion to help us get "best bang for our buck". This round we had a custom outlet placed in the floor of my office, wood floor vent installed, curved stairway and a jagged stone wall that they needed to etch around and it came out beautifully (as expected). This is the third time we have worked with Modern Quality Flooring and they continue to exceed my expectations. The team is fast, friendly and do fabulous work! I will continue to use them for future projects and refer them to all my friends and family. read more

We're glad to have chosen Modern Quality Flooring to refinish stairs and several rooms of hardwood flooring. Danny and his crew couldn't have done a better job. Their guidance on stain, finish and cleaning tips were fantastic. They were very professional, timely, trustworthy, easy to work with and at a fair price too. When the job was completed, we were pleasantly surprised that there was virtually no sign of dust. We even intend to have them return soon to refinish another area of the house. read more

We just bought a 120 year old house with hardwood floors that were heavily damaged. Danny came in to see the floors and give us a quote, and he clearly knew exactly what to do. When it came time to schedule the work, Danny and his team were able to come in quickly and get a living room, dining room, foyer, two bedrooms, and a closet sanded, refinished, and coated a few times over in just a few days. The floors were in really poor condition before the work, and they look brand new now. He also gave us helpful information and tips for maintaining the floors from now on. Last week I hired Danny and his team to refinish and stain wood flooring in a recent house purchase. The service and quality of work from beginning to end is superb. The stain was custom by Danny, because I was torn between two colors. They are gorgeous floors! I have received many compliments already and couldn't be more pleased. The attention to detail and workmanship cannot be beat. I will hire them again next year to complete the family room. Thank you so much for everything! read more

Modern Quality Flooring - Flooring Near Me - Lincolnwood, Illinois

Danny and company are honest, professional, efficient and responsive. I highlighted honesty, because they do only what is needed. I first found that out four years when we bought a house with a ruined carpet in the master bedroom. We pulled up the corners and saw hardwood. Danny's crew came out and removed the carpet. He said the floor didn't need to be sanded. They patched the nail holes from the carpet nail strips, buffed and refinished it along with the hall in order for everything to match seamlessly. We recently pulled up carpet on two more rooms. The first floor was like the one fours years ago and they did the same, but the second was completely unfinished and with a gap in the wood. That floor they repaired, sanded, stained and finished. All results were all beautiful. They also handled the moving of the heavy furniture items. I highly recommend this company. read more

Danny was a joy to work with! We were on a tight schedule and he was flexible and accommodating. The whole process was simple, you can tell he put time and energy into making the process easy for his customers. He provided a quote the same day he came for the estimate, we signed the contract electronically when he arrived to start the project, and the invoice was sent to my email immediately after the contract was signed. When we bought our house the wood flooring was a chestnut color, we knew we wanted to go darker but were unsure of the exact color. Danny let us sample multiple colors to see what we liked best, this was SO helpful! The floors turned out exactly like we envisioned. It completely transformed the room. Modern Quality Flooring - Finished Product!!! We love it! Great job Modern Quality Flooring! - Flooring Near Me - Lincolnwood, Illinois

First I would like to say Dan is great to work with. We were on a tight timeline because we had a tenant ready to move in but needed our hardwood floors sanded and finished. Our guest room had severe damage from a computer chair. It was stripped bare in a large area. We contacted multiple vendors for quotes. I do have to say that Dan was the most informative of a very qualified group. His pricing was excellent and he completed the job on time in spite of the the massive snow storm we had last weekend. The quality of work is second to none. The floors look as new as they did 14 years ago. The wood is high quality and he maintained the excellence of the product. In the spare room you can't tell there was a large bare/damaged area. It looks brand new. He even pulled out the fridge and did the floor underneath it. The attention to detail was amazing. Thank you an we look forward to working with you again in the near future. Great Work. read more

Danny and his team were great to work with and fast too! I had a limited amount of time in my new condo to redo floors, between closing and moving in all the furniture and he was able to work with my tight timeline. The refinishing and staining of my floors was planned to take 3 days, but when another appointment canceled they didn't waste any time and got in done in 2 instead. Danny also spotted some issues with the floorboard that I had not noticed before and got it fixed for me too. He was very patient with my questions (which I had many since this is my first time owning a home) and it was an overall easy process. read more

Danny and his team are hard working, trustworthy, and reliable. Most importantly, they do high quality work and don't cut any corners. The pricing was fair and competitive and a good value considering the better than standard quality of work. We appreciated Danny overseeing all aspects of the project and ensuring that every detail was completed to our satisfaction. Danny and his team do more than just hard wood flooring. We hired Danny as a general contractor to repair some water damage in our condo. The project included identifying the source of the water damage, replacing drywall, replacing the flooring beneath the carpeting, and installing new carpeting. Danny showed tremendous expertise in each aspect of the project and kept us up to date on his progress along each step of the way. read more

Modern Quality flooring scheduled a next day (Saturday morning) quote free of charge. Daniel arrived on time and was very honest about what could and couldn't not be done to repair our vintage hardwood floors. He was knowledgeable about our vintage floors and gave us the best advice. It turned out that his advice was to live with the squeaky and uneven floors until we are ready to completely tear them out because spot repair would not fix our problems and would cost too much for unsatisfactory results. He gave us this advice knowing that we were not in a position to install new floors and that he would not get any sale or work from this home estimate. He was very professional and honest which my husband and I appreciate. When we are in a position to completely update the floors we will certainly go with Modern Quality flooring. read more
