I needed new carpeting in my condo, and I turned to American Carpet Distributors because of the stellar reviews on Yelp. Their high rating is no accident. Larry and Kyle are very professional and friendly, knowledgeable and fair. After reading reviews, I sent a request for information late one evening, and Larry answered within an hour. We set up and appointment for Larry and his son Kyle to give me an in-home estimate on replacing about 500 square feet of old carpeting in two bedrooms and their walk-in closets. Kyle walked me through various fiber and style choices and even helped me pick the color. Larry measured the rooms and gave me a quote for installation, moving furniture, and the removal of the old carpeting. The price was very reasonable, so Kyle prepared a contract for me, he checked with the manufacturer for stock status, and we picked a date for the installation. Since I live in a condo, I needed a Certificate of Insurance to present to the building management company so the work could be approved. Larry sent me one without delay. The installation itself was so smooth. The team, Pedro Jr. and Luis, arrived right on time, moved furniture with great care, took up the old carpeting and padding, and put down the new. The master bedroom is large enough to require seams in the carpeting, and they did a great job. When they were finished, they vacuumed thoroughly and even cleaned the building's common areas like the hallway and lobby to make sure there was no trace of carpet and padding crumbs. They were kind enough when replacing the furniture to allow me to measure carefully and they repositioned the furniture to my exact specifications. I'd been thinking about getting new carpeting for a couple of years now, and it was reading the fabulous reviews for Larry and Kyle and American Carpet that gave me the confidence to go ahead and do it. So if you live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and you are hesitating over getting new carpeting, take the plunge and call Larry and Kyle. You can be sure you will be treated with respect by honest and skilled professionals who stand by their quality product and their superb installation. A thunderous shout-out to Larry, Kyle, Pedro Jr., Luis, and everyone at American Carpet. My bedroom floors are glorious! read more

I was very fortunate to find American Carpet Distributors. Larry came out to our home, showed as samples and went over all of the options that made sense. His professionalism was off the charts and the entire process went far better than anything I could've imagined. Certain companies are very particular as far as what they're willing to move furniture wise but I had no such issues with American. The entire installation process was quick and easy. Our new carpeting is awesome and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended! read more

We chose American Carpet Distributors largely because the owner, Larry, is a former carpet installer. Proper installation was our biggest concern, and his experience gave us confidence. We had carpet installed throughout our second floor and on the stairs and were told their best installation team would do the job. They finished after dark, and everything looked fine under indoor lighting. The next morning in daylight, however, every seam was visible and there was a noticeable hump at a hallway seam. Larry initially told us to give the carpet time to settle. We did, but the problems remained. After further calls, he eventually came to our home. He showed us photos of other installations with worse-looking seams and warned that attempting to fix the hump could make it worse. After we continued to press the issue, a different installation team was sent out. They removed the hump and significantly improved the seams, showing that the problems could be corrected. One seam could not be addressed at that visit because it was near other seams that had just been repaired. When we later asked Larry to have that remaining seam corrected, he argued that there was nothing wrong with it and said we would have to pay to have it fixed. We found his response unprofessional and could not believe we had to argue with the owner over an installation issue. This was particularly disappointing because the company advertises that a "2-Year Installation Warranty [is] Included" with all carpet purchases. We appreciate the work of the second installation team and the improvements they made. Unfortunately, the amount of persistence required to get the problems addressed, followed by the refusal to correct the remaining seam under the advertised warranty, left us disappointed with the overall experience. read more

Great service! Needed to replace carpet in my condo before getting ready to list and Larry and his staff were so helpful and quick.

Highly recommend- everything was seamless. Larry and his son came out to my house - brought a perfect assortment of samples so I could choose what work look best in my home. We just love how it turned out, but beyond that everyone we worked with was just so kind! :) read more

From start to finish the team makes it super easy. You can stop by the showroom and check out samples. There's no sales pitch or upsell. You tell them what you want and they steer you in right direction. After choosing the carpet, getting measurements and prep for installation was super easy. We live in condo building, so they were extremely helpful and patient with getting a COI setup. Come day of installation - the team was very professional, efficient, and courteous. The crew was in and out in no time and cleaned up afterwards. read more

We had an incredible experience with American Carpet Distributors. Larry and his son Kyle came out personally to provide a free estimate for recarpeting our entire home, and from the start they were knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely invested in helping us make the right choices. They were also extremely accommodating when the scope of our project changed--we decided to refinish the hardwood floors on our stairs and in our office before installation, and they updated the pricing quickly and fairly without any hassle. The installation itself was smooth and impressively well-coordinated. The crew handled removal and install flawlessly, worked efficiently, and clearly knew what they were doing. The finished product looks fantastic. We highly recommend American Carpet Distributors for anyone looking for quality service from a family-run business you can trust. We had a great experience with Kyle, Larry, and the installers at American Carpet Distributors. We just moved into a new condo and wanted to replace the worn carpeting in the bedrooms but were hoping not to break the bank. With a recommendation from our realtor, Pasquale Recchia, from Christie's @Properties in Chicago, we found Kyle to be professional, helpful in assisting us to make the right choices, and very personable. The installers were professional, quick, and very neat/clean. And the price for our beautiful, soft, new carpeting was about half the price that I was expecting to pay!! I highly recommend American Carpet Distributors for your carpet needs---you will receive wonderful carpeting at a great price with excellent service! read more

If you are in need of carpeting, look no further. I had a small job to replace carpet on stairs. I contacted Larry, his son Kyle came to measure and discuss pricing with samples. Based on Yelp reviews we reached out to American Carpet Distributers. Larry responded almost immediately on a Sunday. I shared with him the project and type of carpeting I was thinking of for our staircase. He scheduled an appt within 2 days and arrived with samples. Larry is extremely knowledgeable. We placed an order on the spot. Within a few weeks, the carpet was in and installation scheduled . During the installation Larry called to check in with us. I highly recommend Larry for your carpet needs. read more

If you're in the need for new carpet, save yourself the trouble of shopping for a distributor and installer and just go with Larry! I requested a quote through Yelp on Labor Day Weekend and Larry responded extremely quickly. He was actually able to come out to our place the VERY next day to check out our space and bring us some carpet samples. Right off the bat, I knew Larry and American Carpet Distributors was the right decision. Larry is so passionate, knowledgeable, and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. He provided us with some great samples, an estimate, and some dates that worked for his team to come and install it. Day of installation Larry's team was able to come a couple hours earlier than we had initially planned (which was great!), and they called prior to see if that worked with our schedule which was very appreciated. The total removal, install, ad clean up time was about four hours and the team did an incredible job. We are SO happy with our new carpets. I truly cannot recommend Larry and his team enough! read more

American Carpet Distributors is an excellent company. I wouldn't hesitate calling these guys for any of your carpeting needs. I needed new carpeting and ACD were highly ranked on Yelp so I knew this is who I wanted for my new carpeting. Kyle came out to my home and measured the solace. Kyle is an amazing young gentleman and very knowledgeable and well prepared. We sat down and he showed me various samples. It was so easy I just picked the color and done. Come installation day Pedro and his crew arrived early and did a fantastic job. They are very good at what they do and my carpeting looks great. Can't be happier and now I don't have to look at my old decrepit carpeting anymore. read more

We discussed our bedroom carpet needs with Kyle and he showed us several samples for us to consider that fit our budget. Once we decided, we arranged for installation that fit our schedule. The carpet crew led by Pedro, came promptly and carefully moved the furniture so as to not scratch the walls or damage our bedroom sets. Kyle was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The carpet installers were also excellent. We'll definitely hire them again when we're ready to carpet our other bedrooms, hall and stairs. read more

My carpet situation was not complex. American Carpet Distributors did a fine job and the price was competitive. We chose a low-pile carpet. But that's not what you're here (at this review) for. The thing is... I sent a message through Yelp early in the morning and Larry replied back via Yelp. I met with Larry later that morning. He knew his Yelp rating. He knew the Yelp ratings of his close competitors. He's kinda passionate about carpeting. He shows off pictures of previous jobs on his phone. He carries bits of carpet padding in his pocket to show you the effect of time/pressure on the padding. He's that kind of guy. But as I mentioned. He knows he's on Yelp and he cares about being on this platform. He's gonna do a good job for you because he cares that the community is paying attention. read more

I was looking for carpeting to get out into a new house before moving furniture. While the timing was tight, Larry was quick to offer timings, and then called to ask if I'd be available same day and I happened to be. He was patient even with the fact that I wasn't scheduled for the day, made sure to offer a good selection for the purpose and feel I wanted, and most of all did pricing for multiple options. In total, for the install it was about $4k, with the cheapest option being about $3.1k (2 bedrooms and a 900sq foot basement and steps. The minimal change in pricing even with much higher quality was part of the reason I trusted their value. The installers were amazing and even went out of their way to fix a step that the previous owner has broken a bit, and also just did a great job of cutting up the old carpet into manageable bags. They asked what style I wanted the steps (straight down or the "hug the stairs" style I forget the name of) and did an amazing job of that close step style. My biggest thing I can say is that if I need to replace the carpet down the line before selling, or just because of age, I'm going with them again 100%. read more

Hey Larry I know how much you hate my bad review but think about how much I hate every single time I walk into my bedroom seeing this horrible carpet. You know that the "inspector" also agreed this was not because of our floor heat, he said it was an anomaly of the fibers in the carpet. And by the way you NEVER offered to replace the entire bedroom you offered to replace that small section. Which we both know there is no guarantee that it will even match the rest of the room. Unacceptable. read more

We had some minor water damage in our basement and needed new padding and replacement of our carpet. Larry saved us as I sent him photos and measurements and he sent his crew out a few days later. Pedro arrived with all of the necessary equipment plus shoe covers and added new padding and put our carpeting back. His skills were top notch with attention to detail, as the carpeting was even without any bubbles and he repaired a tear in the carpet along the doorway. He was very personable and clean and would definitely recommend. read more

I bought carpet for the first time from this guy and I would do it again. I sourced three different vendors and I'm pleased with my choice, the carpet, the service, and the installation. The owner comes to you directly to show samples and take measurements. Rare and respected! The owner listened to what I want and like; made recommendations and follows up via phone call or text. He also affirmed my decisions while unnecessary but nice. He's responsive and returns phone calls. His crew arrived early and completed the work in eight hours for like 1600 square feet. They were kind and professional. It's a family owned and operated business and I would work with them again in a heart beat. Larry is a good dude who literally drives all over the state! Worth every penny. Downside - I got the plush carpet and they couldn't cut and reinstall my doors. Add that service and its white glove all the way. read more

Larry got the job done. It's was a little difficult working with property management ( high rise on Lake Shore Dr) but once we got the figured out it was great. Larry was absolutely great to work with, as was his installer, Al. He was responsive, showed up exactly when he said he would, was knowledgeable and made the entire transaction so easy. Our one hundred year old condo building desperately needed new carpet runners for two staircases with multiple steps and landings. He showed us great commercial carpet options to choose from, and the entire job went start to finish without a hitch. The stairs and landings look beautiful, and all of the owners are happy. I really cannot express the quality of American Carpet in words, but will just go with "simply awesome". I just had 16 stairs carpeted on a very complicated installation. It's great to deal directly with the owner - Larry. Super knowledgeable, responsive, and clearly committed to customer satisfaction. Larry has his own crews, so unlike other experiences I've had...there's 100% accountability. To that end, his installing team was extremely committed excellence. This is the second time I've hired American Carpet due to my first experience. I engaged them back in 2021 for another staircase, plus 3 bedrooms (I included a pic of the staircase from 2021) and that carpet is still in perfect condition. Above and beyond their quality, the pricing is excellent as well. I got 3 bids for the first job, and American Carpet was/is quite a bit less expensive. Very highly recommended! (As a FYI, I rarely provide Yelp reviews...this experience simply warrants it.) read more
