Guess they are afraid of the truth. once we said go ahead, the project manager came out once we never saw him again. Even though we had numerous problems. Damages to our drywall. Damage to our bathroom wallpaper! They took forever. we ere bullied and abused. Honestly the countertops and backsplashes look like crap. The way we were treated was disgusting. When I initially did this review the only thing I talked about was the quartz countertop that was field measured, fabricated & installed when we redid our kitchen. In looking at this review I neglected to mention that A-American Custom Flooring does so much more then just the counter As the name suggests they also do flooring materials along w/installation if needed. They do a full range of materials from wood flooring to ceramic tiles to stone tiles. We ended up selecting a wood floor that matched the existing wood floor through the bedroom, dining area & living room. In hindsight I wish we selected something w/a harder finish as we have gotten several dings and dents in the flooring from objects we dropped. In addition to the quartz countertop selected we also found a beautiful glass tile that we used to match the base & overhead cabinets & at the same time compliment the quartz countertop selected. I think we did a nice job w/the color selection and the choice of materials, but there is always room for WHAT IF WE DID THIS INSTEAD? Overall I feel that A-American did a great job field measuring, fabricating & installing the countertop. The accuracy needs to be very precise so the counter fits properly. My house was built in 1940 (no I wasn't born yet) so the corners of the walls are not square. The measurements were done by laser measurements along points around the perimeter adjacent to the wall. The installers brought out this very heavy counter & precision fit it onto the base cabinet fitting it perfectly. read more

BUYER BEWARE. TURN AROUND AND GO SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE. A-American flooring and A-American Contractors (counters and cabinets) are two separate company's but are incorporated in the same address with the same board president, Lonel Capalnas. Their websites and review pages are intertwined just read here on their Yelp profile how they advertise both their businesses under a single company name which is disingenuous and misleading. So if you run into a problem they all of a sudden act like they have nothing to do with each other. This store does not stand behind their products. They sold me defective white Roca 3x12 subway tile with glazing that cracked every which way. The manufacturer and A-America both claim that it was movement from poor installation. Even though 4 other walls of tile were installed the exact same way with the exact same tile and had zero cracks. Over 100 tiles were replaced by the same installer the exact same way and none of those replacement tiles cracked. This proved that the defects were in the particular boxes of tile not the installations. The cracks were only appearing on the originally installed tile. Untimely A-American only agreed to provide me 4 boxes of replacement tile which was only a fraction of the cost of the removal and replacement of their defective tile. With their shady business practices and failure to own up completely to the defective products that they sold me I highly recommend that you take your business elsewhere for any product that A-America and their sub companies sell. read more

As a long time customer, I always enjoy shopping at A American. They have a wide variety of products in every department from tiles and hardwood flooring to cabinets and countertops. But by far my favorite part of A American is their friendly staff who are willing to asist and go any length to find exactly what you are looking for (even if I might be too picky at times). From the receptionist who greets you warmly as soon as you walk into the door to the expert sales representatives and knowledgeable managers. Recently I was looking to remodel a kitchen (specifically to get a new countertop and tiles). When I first walked in, I was greeted by the receptionist and directed to the countertop and tile departments. Once I had reached what I was looking for, one of the managers, Adrian I. , greeted me and assisted me by giving me an overview of their popular options. Adrian was affable and transparent regarding pricing and the overall process from order to transport to installation. Eventually I decided on a matching set of tiles and countertops. Fast forwarding past my order, the installers arrived at my house and were cautious and efficacious. The whole process took about 2 days of installation (one day for the countertop and then another day for the backsplash installed by a third-party contractor). I was walked through the whole process by the installers and was kept in the loop. The final result was a beautiful refresh and well worth the expense. I waited two months to write this review but in good faith, I wanted to warn others. The manager was contacted and although he apologized and understood (the first person to take responsibility throughout the whole process), he told me they lost money on us (their mistake in cutting the stone.) Once the contract is signed and the company takes a HUGE deposit (70% down!) the excellent customer service ends and the gaslighting starts. I should add, I could have gone elsewhere for several thousand less but was sold on the quickly availability, in house fabrication and computer layout (seeing what it would look like in our kitchen). Beware of working with Richard B. We ordered $17,000 countertops in October and on the sales floor we were told that they are made in MN and ship quickly. Richard initially was excellent and told me to be sure and come back to see him because he works as an independent contractor (later told untrue). I quickly realized commission based and wanted to be fair to him. Only when we signed the contract were we told they were on backorder to January. I contacted the manufacture directly to find out if I should anticipate any delay and was told this design is always 8 weeks to order. Richard was uniformed. One of the reasons we went with A American was (1) the good reviews (2) Richard showed us what the counters and backsplash would look like. This was important to us because it was a very busy design. When they came to measure, we were told those drawings aren't at all accurate and not to pay any attention to them. WHAT?! I should also add, Richard cancelled our date to measure early on -- "wait until the stone comes in". Then he didn't let me know the stone came in, I checked in with him, and then had to wait because of the lack of availability to measure. Richard told us there would not be any cost to haul away the existing countertops but when we had a handyman remove ours to speed up the very slow process (required drywall repair), all of a sudden there was a $200 charge because they weren't making the $600 to remove them. DISHONEST PRACTICE. Told start to finish it would be a two week install process. It was five weeks once the slabs arrived. Hard to feed a family of four with no kitchen sink or countertops. While I wouldn't have liked hearing five weeks from the start, it would have prepared me for what was to come. Repeatedly told "we measure twice, cut once". Guess what? They cut the backsplash an inch too short. This was Tuesday - I nearly had heart failure given the time and cost. Installers were trying to convince me to fill it with wood trim and they would give me a "good discount". The discount offered was $700. On a $17,000 project. After a very stressful day, they miraculously came up with a slab and installed by Friday. Makes me wonder how they had a slab laying around when I ordered 3 and it took well over two months. The time frames were always delayed. We were told "need to talk to THE SHOP". "THE SHOP" was another reason we chose them. Richard said because it's all done in house it's quick. Installers told me turn around time from measurement would be 5 days but they'd put a rush on it. The rush was 7+ days. Nobody seemed to be able to "call the shop" - all done by email/through their system. It became this mysterious place to us "the shop". We were always waiting to hear the news "from the shop". When they re-installed the backsplash, they damaged the brand new drywall. They also damaged the electrical and blew out the kitchen power. I had to pay an electrician to come out. I contacted A-American and they denied damage. I have pictures of the exposed live wire. My electrician was horrified and told me how dangerous this was. I also lost my home phone line and had to schedule AT&T (covered by our protection but more time lost). After back and forth, I was reimbursed for the electrician. All along Richard was telling us he provides excellent service. It was consistently over promising, under delivering, slow turnaround, slow response and inaccurate information. To say they were a nightmare to deal with is an understatement. My designer repeatedly told me she's never seen anything like this "it shouldn't be this hard". Why the two stars? At the end of the day, we love the finished product but wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy working with A-American. I understand that the flooring is under a different management which may explain the good reviews. read more

This place is a joke. The staff and sales are con artists. They show you a product and then charge you a price when you agree, then they load your truck with a different flooring. Not the same product you viewed, classic bait and switch then try to upsell. When you go back to the front to inform the young sales staff, they try to sell a different product for a higher price. I spent $10,000 on wood flooring and flooring supplies and the staff and management don't show appreciation and instead they don't care of any future business. They try to screw you. This place used to be good but in the past few years they became crooks. Will take my business elsewhere from now on. The owner and his son are stupid, almost every customer is a repeat customer who's a contractor who spends lots of money. They don't deserve your hard earned money. read more

This place was great for our bath remodeling needs in 2015. After shopping around a bit, we ended up selecting all of our ceramic wall and floor tiles from here for the total remodeling of 2.5 baths. They have a good selection, good in-stock inventory, and reasonable prices. The sales folks are helpful and flexible and you can browse around as much as you like, and take and return samples as you like (some require deposits). We dealt with Avram and Brian. They were also flexible with timing of tile returns also (whole unused boxes only). Many of the folks here seem to be related in some way to the Romanian patriarch and owner also, so it's almost a large family business. The sister-in-law just selected this place to also do a re-carpeting of her home, as the selection and installed cost quotation is competitive and reasonable as well for such scope (Peter Toader was the helpful sales consultant). read more

Overall, a great experience with buying and installing our quartz countertop. With our kitchen model woefully behind schedule, a different countertop place told us our order would take 2-3 weeks to come in, and because of the shape of our kitchen, we'd have to pay for 2 slabs, which increased the cost per square foot considerably. As a last resort, we headed to A-American to see what they could do for us. I was pretty adamant that I wanted to buy our quartz at a dealer that both sold and installed countertops. If anything went wrong with the install, I knew we'd be covered because it would be the same company who sold it that installed it. With something so pricey, this is definitely the way to go. We found the exact same quartz (same brand and color) that we liked at the other countertop store and A-American came in with a lower price. I think this was partly because A-American's prices are generally lower (we noticed some tile we had seen at another store was also cheaper here) and A-American only makes you buy the amount of square feet you will actually use, not whole slabs. We set up for our countertops to be measured the next day. Ryan came to our house and was in and out quickly. He took our new sink template with him, so he could be sure the sink hole would be cut out perfectly. He did notice that our walls weren't at perfectly straight 90 degree angles, so he told me that the installers would need to cut into the wall a bit for the countertops to fit properly. I was glad he gave me the heads up on this, so there were no surprises come installation day. Unfortunately, a day or so later we got a call that they were out of stock in the color we ordered, and in fact, every seller was. The color was not due to be shipped into the United States again for another 2 months. Waiting was not an option, so Ryan found us some alternatives. We headed in to view the samples in person, and picked a new kind of quartz in a similar color. Ryan honored the original quote he gave us, even though our new choice was a little more expensive. A few days later, our countertops were installed and look amazing! Aside from the one hiccup, there were no bumps in the road. The sink hole and faucet cut outs fit great. I know anything related to home improvement can be scary, especially when dealing with vendors, but A-American was great to work with and I was impressed by their fast turnaround time. We have a bathroom remodel planned, and I know we'll head to A-American for the tiles and anything else they sell that we'll need. read more

Alex was very helpful and patient while I sorted through the options, and understood what I was looking for. He subsequently measured and installed, with beautiful seams and edges. We walk in no one greeted us walk right past their main counter, looked right at the people they didn't say a word to us. After 10 minutes of walking around looking at the different displays I finally asked if somebody could give us some assistance. The lady behind the counter said the salesman went to the bathroom give him a minute. We were about to walk out but I decided let's give another few minutes finally 10 minutes later a young lady came to give us some help. Mind you while we were waiting there was numerous employees walking around but none of them wanted to help us,and we were the only customers in the place. Alin designed and customized the kitchen cabinets , countertop and backsplash for my 60 years old kitchen's complete makeover. My husband and I just stopped in here to look at vinyl floors. This is the second time I have been here in about 6 weeks. Both times not one employee was wearing a mask. I haven't seen anything like this for the duration of the pandemic. Employees were talking to masked customers - all without wearing masks. Some had them in their hands, hanging off their ears, or were just wearing them as chin straps. Some just didn't have them. On top of that, there were employees just standing around or sitting at desks doing nothing who all saw us walk in, and they made no effort to help. This is the second time I had to go find someone to help us after waiting like 15 minutes. When I did get someone to help, she had to leave to ask someone my question as she did not know. Ten minutes later I found her sitting back at the desk. I asked her if she had found the answer to my question and she said "oh, I don't know." She never even attempted to find the answer. I have no idea how this place stays in business with their terrible customer service and completely irresponsible COVID policies. Stay away. read more

George, our sales person, took the time to discuss our options in terms of material, color choices and cost. Once we made our decision, George was able to schedule an installation date for our quartz countertops within two weeks. A team of three installers showed up within the promised time window. They had to make several adjustments as the new walls and cabinets were not perfectly straight. They stayed to clean the countertop and the area around the work space.
