First time here and it won't be the last! The iced vanilla latte was perfection. One of the best I've had. I know it's not hard to go wrong with this particular coffee but theirs was perfect! Absolutely LOVING this new addition to downtown Fort Wayne! I attended the soft opening and loved it. They offer cocktails and coffee and have great small plate items. I really enjoyed the beer cheese & pretzels (pretzels from a local bakery!). The nitro cold brew with oat milk is great, and the Aperol Spritz was perfect. Parking is a little tricky, so street parking is definitely your best bet! Indoor and outdoor seating available. read more

Big fan of this place. I love the creamy, smooth acidity to their espresso, and the espresso martini is excellent. I can't say I'm in love with their sense of style, but it's also very new, still growing and learning how it fits into the landscape of downtown Fort Wayne and I'm still learning how I fit into their space. We went to Penny Drip on a hot summer early evening, and it was fairly busy, but we didn't have a problem getting a seat and we found a table that was not in the sun. The crowd was mostly 30ish or younger. The garage style doors were open and it is on the corner of a busy 4 lane street, so many times the sound of loud motorcycles and cars drowned out the conversation and the music. As it was early evening the sun was shining in the place and about 90 degrees. You seat yourselves, and you order at the counter, and then someone brings out the drinks and food to your table. So it is a minimal service restaurant, but when you pay, before even getting your food, you are still presented with the option on the pad to tip the usual 15%, 20% 25% or custom. Tipping used to be based on service after the fact, as this is a half self service I'm not sure anything over 10% is justified, although I did give them a decent tip, I'm not sure that was justified for just bringing our food out. Anyway, that is an industry wide issue and not specific to PD. The expensive drinks were very good tasting. I ordered a Cafe Mexicano but they were out of an ingredient so I got the Black Margarita, $12. The others ordered a vodka and tonic and one of the other designer drinks. The margarita came in a very small glass which was filled with mostly a single very large but cool ice cube wit PD initials. The drinkable portion was very good, but maybe half a cup or less. The other drink, $12, was also in a small sized stemmed glass, smaller even than a champaign glass. She said it was good. The vodka and tonic, $10, was reported to have little to no vodka. The BLT was excellent, but for $16, I don't know. The flatbread pickle chicken pizza, $16, was not my thing, and we also had the avacado toast, $10. I've had better. Everything seemed to be drenched in olive oil. We are older, so maybe this is not our demographic, and maybe it would be better as a coffee place in the morning or lunch. The person who rang me up was very nice, but the person who dropped off our food seemed indifferent when we asked for something, so I kind of felt like I overtipped. Would I go back? Maybe for a coffee or breakfast bagle, or maybe lunch. If I was a young hipster with money on a date, I might hang out there, but I'm not. read more

Finally got to try Penny drip for lunch. An impressive list of coffee-based cocktails for sure. The margarita was tasty and strong. My salad was fantastic. But I was really disappointed with the potato soup... tasty but it was about a half a cup for $8. I literally wanted to ask why they couldn't fill the tiny bowl up. Really wanted to like this place, and given the reviews I thought I would. Bartender was fantastic, other than that not so much. Way overpriced, and the drinks are incredibly small. The old fashioned was okay, but I took the ice cube out and the drink filled 1/4 of a tiny glass. Ordered a beer and it came in a thick mug, likely only 10oz of beer. Ever since this place open up, it's just so surreal even if quiet or busy the place is just very lovely, it's cozy when you head inside to have a drink when it's too cold outside. And it's also really nice to have a drink outside of the bar at the patio just to relax and enjoy the scenery. Also it's very convenient and the walk to this bar is nice. I was visiting Ft Wayne in Sept and went to the fabulous Art Museum there. Penny Drip is just a couple of blocks (at most) away on Lafayette St and the perfect place for lunch. Had a delicious chicken curry sandwich and another salad, as well as a couple of their pastries. Staff super nice and helpful, our food came out quickly, was nicely presented. Mexican firing squad, super light and refreshing if you enjoy tequila. The atmosphere is super chill and has outdoor seating.

The cappuccino here was very good and it has a large window with a nice view of downtown but the environment is rather unwelcoming, which I consider to be a major part of a cafe. The concrete and industrial style does not make it a place that I would want to spend time in and it's not a great price compared to other local places just blocks away. My first couple of visits had me hooked, the food and bevs were fab. Then the subsequent 3 visits in a row they were out of SO many menu items or components of service (like straws for a blended coffee drink, and not even offering a spoon or saying he were out of straws) and after giving it those 3 final tries I just never want to return. It's weird going to a place that always seems to have a supply issue. What bent me was that when I ordered certain favorites, they just left the ingredients out of the recipe (like leaving out Brussels sprouts and mandarins and leafy greens on the salad and gave me JUST romaine and oranges instead and maybe assumed I wouldn't notice?) Just unprofessional. I'm a seasoned cook and know what I'm eating. Besides I didn't go to Cracker Barrel for a romaine salad. I went to Penny Drip for a gourmet farm to fork experience. I've also noticed that the early staff that opened the location were super enthusiastic and now there's a weird apathy behind the bar (maybe that's why I was given food with missing ingredients and no warning?) this place had POTENTIAL but something is off now. Is it management, staff or both? Who freaking knows but it's gone from a place I visit once a week to a place I avoid. Im in marketing and branding as a profession and one thing about the restaurant industry is your regulars come back for their favorites when you nail a great dish or drink. Staying in business and thriving comes down to being able to deliver that consistently so we can always come back for a favorite and bring friends (I had brought a ton of people to Penny Drip in the beginning). Omg and on my last visit I had the worst hot chocolate of my life. It was basically hot water flavored with a hint of chocolate, and I had to pay $4, and I wish they would have offered to pay me to drink it. It was disgusting. Take it off the menu. This place is a hidden spot for great drinks and appetizers. They have a wide drink selection which is split up into coffee cocktails and regular cocktails. If you're into coffee and have a long night ahead of you I would recommend the espresso martini or the revolver which is a bit stronger.
