Love Penn Station.. I really wish there were more of them in Raleigh, NC! I get out to a Penn Station fairly often when I make the trip to Ohio. Probably tops the list of sub chains for me. This location is a bit unassuming from the outside (doesn't look to be the best part of town either), but they do a great job. When living the suburban lifestyle, chain restaurants and stores become just about impossible to escape. However, that doesn't mean that you are stuck eating bad food. Fortunately, there are some gems among the chains that populate the strip malls that seem to go on forever, Penn Station being one of them. I had never actually had Penn Station before eating at this location, so I can't really compare it other locations. That being said however, I have no complaints about this particular location at all. The employees are nice enough, the restaurant is always spotless, the food is prepared quickly and comes out fresh, and most importantly, it tastes absolutely amazing, every time. The only drawback to Penn Station is that you are going to pay a bit more for a sub here than you would at say Jimmy John's or Jersey Mikes. In my opinion though, the quality of the food definitely justifies the price tag. read more

I was most likely their first customer since it was 11:30 am. The restaurant was filthy and a dump. It looked as if the restaurant was never cleaned. The grill had black debris all over it. Stainless steel surfaces throughout the prep area looked as if they have never been cleaned. There were dead bugs on the floor in front of the counter. I wondered if the employees put gloves on to protect themselves from pathogens. This is a trend with restaurants in SPRINGDALE. You shouldn't feel like you're playing roulette with your health when eating out. It's been a few days and thankfully no ill effects. read more

First time eating a Penn sub and I must say they were delicious! Husband got the Italian and I got the Philly. However, a girl was training a guy (they were the only two employees there) and I think between her training him to take our order, some things we said were missed or not input properly. I asked for mushrooms on the side because he doesn't like mushrooms and we always get different food and share our food with each other. We asked for a large drink and regular fries but they gave us a large drink and large fries (we almost always share fries and drink too, but I don't usually eat many fries so no need for a large and I'm sure we were also charged for the large, but they didn't give us a receipt). We also said the food was to eat there and they gave it to us to go. Other than those few issues, the food was wonderful and the employees were courteous and friendly. read more

I stop here to get a sandwich on the way to work . I pulled up to the front of this restaurant . The door was so full of fingerprints . As I was going in the trash can was full of trash . Tables wasn't clean off . I brought the sandwich but couldn't eat it . I can't get over how dirty the place was . I did see a hiring sign . While waiting in line, I noticed an employee slicing meat right into his bare, ungloved hand. It was kind of gross, but they do cook the meat. Then I saw him take his ham-juice covered hands, and dig through a bin of lettuce, no gloves! Come to find out this person was the MANAGER. Another manager was on duty and I asked why no one was wearing gloves. He said "We don't do gloves" and explained they don't have to wear gloves because they cook everything. I pointed at the guy shoving his bare disgusting hands in the lettuce bin, and asked if they cook the lettuce too, which of course they don't. He offered me a few coupons and I saw them throw out the bin of lettuce. But obviously with 2 managers justifying that type of food preparation, it's common practice there. I'd rather not eat there again than risk ending up with hepatitis A or some other food-borne illness. read more

I have always loved Penn Station. But yesterday at the Tri-county location, the manager was rude. He got angry because "every customer who walked in here today has this coupon," he complained. And every time there was a coupon, he had to stop cooking and enter the code in the register. "Where did these things come from?" he asked. And then he cussed. First place I stopped when I got back home. This is the only one I go too. I'm normally in this area somehow. They never fail me. It was four years Since I've had them..They didn't give me dirty looks while I sang and danced once I got my sandwich so that's a plus I guess. They actually cooked the chicken it right there, and it tasted awesome!!! Had the chicken teriyaki with onion. Tested good! The sandwich could be cut better though for easier handling. Also management could be better. For example they call your name only without the sandwich so "David!" And two Davids will show up! They took the order on one register and send you to pay to another register where no one is attending it! Too many people are working there for no obvious reason. read more
