I had my solar installed through my representative Nasir Azizeh. He was extremely thorough. Knowledgeably and extremely responsive. He went above and beyond in helping with the inspection. Came to my house and watched the installation and when there was an issue with the plumbing post install. He was able to correct and fix the issue immediately. It was fantastic customer service. In regards to the installers. I had the pleasure of working with Philip Little. Who is extremely tall so the name is deceptive. The guy did me solid. He repaired everything provided great feedback. Was extremely courteous and respectful and went way above of what was expected. I am extremely satisfied with with the level of service and I highly recommend them. In particular Nasir Azizeh for the sales rep and Philip Little for the install Thank you again team Penguin. I appreciate your help and time. Give them a call if you want to save money on solar energy read more

I have an issue with my solar inverter, but now they are bankrupt and can't do anything for me. What a sham! They appeared trustworthy and great to do the deal and installation and get my money. But now I need help and they have vanished. Pretty unhappy with them now. Eddie Diaz was the owner. read more

Signed contract in Feb 23, Penguin postponed my installation many times and finally was supposed to install last week. There was no show. Later through the sales rep, I heard they filed for bankruptcy. Im surprised sales rep posed as if he learned from me. I lost my deposit and very disappointed . Im glad I did not pay 80% upfront, which they were insisting upon. What a waste of time and money, need to start all over again to pass my building final inspection. read more

Ran away with my deposit. I spent a few months trying to contact them and then realized I got scammed. They would have known they were closing down but still tricked me into signing the contract and paying a deposite. And then they started sending me followup money request: they were hoping I pay all the cost upfront despite never responded to my calls in 6 months. What a joke. Now I feel lucky it's just the small initial deposit that I lost. If they ended up actually installing some crap on my roof, my entire house is screwed. Close call. read more

They sold us $44k worth of solar panels and a 25 year warranty, then filed for bankruptcy. Our panels stopped working in September, so now I'm paying LADWP and the financing company. Bryan Perkins of Riverside CA has another company called Natural Energy Solutions LLC. Don't do business with them either. SCAMMERS read more

Absolutely 100% do not do business with this company! They just got bought out by a new owner, Jason Pickell, but they are so far in debt that they can't even pay their sales people what's owed to them, even when part of that is supposed to go to the client. Steer clear from them. read more

Do not, I repeat DO NOT deal with this company. I recommended them to install a roof and solar panels. The result is a brand new roof that's leaking. The sub contractor they hired was very unprofessional and did a bad job. The worst is they don't stand behind their work. They take forever to come out and repair things. No one picks up the phone. There's only an answering service that takes messages. The owners Andy and Randy are ignoring calls and messages. No communication and no intent to resolve this. There are too many Solar and roofing companies in SoCal. So you don't have to pick this one. read more

We recently had solars installed and we couldn't be more happier with the outcome. Adrian's crew installed our solars and they did an amazing job. They were very efficient and communicated throughout the entire process. Job was done very clean and neat. I definitely would recommend this company if you're interested in getting solar done.We have already referred a couple of our neighbors to them that are interested in get their solar is done as well. read more

Crooks! Avoid at all costs. Zero stars. Did not complete solar installation and now I have 20 panels on my roof generating no power.

I bought my system and was glad to own it and looked forward to the Penguin Home Solutions experience, but something happened while my system was being installed.... PHS ghosted me and many others. They stopped helping me, stopped answering my calls and their numbers aren't working. To this day I don't know what happened to them or what to do about my system and warranties etc. I would have liked to write a great review but I can't.... I would say stay clear of this business. read more

Went out of business 7 months after they installed my solar system. Now I am searching for a solar maintainer and have to pay out of pocket.

Not with the time to call them they installed a solar system at my house the panels were not level, the breaker box was put on very shoddy, it took them 5 times to get the wiring correct and they still f didnt hook my well up to critical load, I had to call them several times to get the system to work correctly, and the owner lied to me about finishing the work i have to hire an electrical contractor to hook my well up to the battery backup's read more

Clueless Solar company. They will have you agree to a contract that will never happen. But they will never call or give updates and if they do call you will be informed of everything that's not happening. Move on to another Company. This one is a scam. read more

If I could give it a negative I would. Been waiting since March for an install. Finally installed in June. Still have not sent final paper work to PG&E, so I do not have a permission to operate. Now I'm paying on my Solar Loan and paying PG&E for my power at the same time. So now I'm on the hole even more. They won't answer their phones, won't finish their job. Also lost parts of my breaker box on install, replaced it with cardboard. PG&E refused to switch me over, they can't get ahold of Penguin either. Looks like I'm going to have to hire an attorney to try to use a system i paid for. Thanks for nothing Penguin. Hope they all get thrown in jail read more

My roof/solar project began on Sept. 14th with the tear off of my roof. The roofing company contracted by Penguin was good and the tear off and replacement while not perfect, (rain in the middle of install was a difficult issue) was resolved. The issues came when the solar portion was being installed and approved. Here is where we are on January 19th (4 months!!!). No HOA approval - (denial), no battery commission, no drywall or insulation repairs due to roof leaks. NO COOPERATION on fixes - just consistent billings for final payment when the job is not complete. YOU should think about this review before going forward with this company. I am looking at legal options and I never post bad reviews. read more

i was shocked to receive an invoice from penguin for a whopping $20,000.00, even though i did not install the solar panels due to the fact that my roof is aged. while sunnova was the solar company involved, i cannot comprehend why penguin would send me an invoice for services not rendered. read more

I would leave a 0 stars if I could. Do not use this company. The project is taking forever to complete. I paid all the milestone payments as per the agreement. Then one of their suppliers filed a mechanics lien against my property. I had paid them but Penguin obviously did not pay their suppliers and sub contractors so I ended up with the lien against my property. Do not work with a company that doesn't pay their partners and suppliers. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! We were excited to go Solar. We signed with Penguin (Big Mistake) in time for the 2.0 buy back. We did everything we could do... - New roof (two to five years early) $20K -new electrical main panel - $5.5K We are paying cash. Fortunately we had not given Penguin any of the estimated $22-- $24 thousand. They went Dark for about four weeks. The representative who sold us the package was also blind sided with no explanation. Finally a call, stating re-organization and a promise to get our trust back. A tech, came out (very good and thorough) to survey the job. Then to proceed, and make first payment, I placed four phone calls to Penguin and once again no return phone call. Two days later I called again, the person who answered acted as if no return phone calls (no communication) is standard operating procedure. I'm done! I asked the sales representative if I could buy the 2.0 Edison program that I signed up for and was submitted.....NOPE was the answer. Yesterday, June 6th 2023, I found out the salesman who put our package together has still not been paid for previous jobs and has had to pay his vendors out of his own pocket and has lost a couple reps. due to Penguin. It's sad that Penguin has NO care or compassion or good faith. We lost out on the 2.0 buy back program from Edison (Penguin will not release it to us), fortunately we did not lose out on $22--$24K. HAPPY to have new roof and electrical panel. We also re-insulated our attic. We will live with that now, life is good. Check out all reviews on Yelp, BBB and Penguin You've been warned read more

BEWARE HORRIBLE COMPANY!!! I decided to go with penguin home solutions to install my solar big mistake on my part, After paying over $26,000 to them I received a lean on my home from the Supply company who supplied the solar panels saying that Penguin home solution never paid them for the panels. I called Penguin they said they're waiting on funding And the lean would be lifted. It's been over a month now every time I call them, They give me the run around telling me the person I need to talk to is in a meeting and will call me back but no one never calls back I still have a lean on my house, Going to have to take them to court also going to file a complaint with the state contractors License board. do yourself a Favor stay away. They guarantee a certain amount of energy production with their solar panel installation every year. I've had the system since 2020 and this year I got a big fat electricity bill from my utility almost 3x the amount of the previous year only to find out that something in their solar panel system broke and my panels were producing ZERO electricity for 5 months out of last year without my knowledge. I remembered their policy of guaranteed energy production and that they would reimburse electrical costs if their system failed to produce as advertised. I called and they said someone would get back to me. Crickets for weeks. I called again and spoke to someone else and the same result - crickets. Called multiple times until FINALLY someone said they would reimburse a certain amount (which didn't even come close to the amount that I was owed but whatever) and they said they would send a check. Then same thing - crickets for weeks. I called again and they said they sent the check already but NOPE I didn't receive anything and they said they'd get back to me and it's been weeks of crickets again to the point that I could be a cricket wholesaler at this point if any of you have any reptiles to feed. It's been at least 5 months through this process and have spoken to about 4-5 people regarding this and still have no check in hand. I warned them that I'd write a scathing review if they didn't follow through with their promise and still nothing. This pathetic company is a bait and switch scam. STAY AWAY. read more

STAY AWAY from this company! Signed contract back in September 2022, paid 80% in the contracted price cash in October 2022. Initially everything was going well, but then it failed inspection twice (that I know of). Here we are in May 2023 and the panels still are not activated. On top of that, one of the suppliers placed a mechanics lien on my property. Phone call after phone call, email after email, and I keep getting the same "it will be paid soon" and "you will be connected/activated soon" lines. All talk and no action as of yet. Unbelievably frustrating. Would NOT recommend. read more

Excellent customer service and very honest with you! Ronnie worked with me to determine the solar system that's best for my home and answered all of our many questions. He was very responsive and explained the entire process to me. Everything moved along exactly as he described. I felt confident that this is was the right decision and the right solar company. They came and did a excellent clean professional job and clean after the job. The Solar Panel so far has produced what I need for my home and haven't payed So Cal Edison a dime. Highly recommend this company and believe me I searched over 8 different companies before deciding the best for my home. (*I'm not being payed to say this) read more

Penguin Home Solutions - They listen to me and put the solar panel behind my home not in the front. - Solar Installation Near Me

After researching all of the benefits of going solar, I found that the most difficult task was finding a company that made me feel comfortable with the project. This was a big decision since I'm putting solar on 3 different properties. They have installed two properties already, and all I can say is Penguin Home Solutions has been attentive to even some of my unusual requests. Alex, took the bull by the horns a couple of times so I wanted to thank him personally, and now publicly, for a lot of his help. I look forward to completing #3. Cheers! read more

We had penguin home solutions Solar come out to start our job today. First thing they did was cut our beautiful vines that have been growing for 15 years they cut the vine down to its main branch which covered a large area that now will have to be removed. They are refusing to compensate for this. There is no way that they can put the vine back but there is a lot of it that is going to have to be taken down all the way the job of fixing the area which we estimate will cost about $1500. this is so disheartening that they send out people that are not qualified that don't think about what they are doing. they just sent a bunch of guys out and say go for it and they do whatever they want . damaging property and the company taking no responsibility at all. read more

We had our solar system installed Sept 2021. I choose Penguin Home Solutions because of the warranty offered. I had never heard of the company before but took a chance. I had other estimates and all were close in price but I did think the warranty was better than others. So recently we did have a problem. Turns out our inverter went bad and they ordered another. So there was a wait for the inverter, but as much as I disliked that it was just one of those things. It was replaced today. Doug from the Penguin team came out and did an awesome job getting it up and running and we are producing again. I would say anybody looking to have solar installed they should consider Penguin Home Solutions. read more

They upgraded my panel from 100 to 200 amps, installed 16 solar panels as well. The City Of Riverside has been messing around with the scheduling due to Covid, they had guy sitting and waiting for inspections and the city did not show. Started my project the first week of march. My project is still not turned on and the communication has been minimal at best. This has been the biggest regret of company's I have made in my new home. I would of rather of gone with any of the other companies that had better reviews but was sold on it when I sat down with Alex who was kind and promised project completion in 2 months. Not only in my solar not on but I had called multiple times in may and June asking when it might be completed only to not yet a call back 3 times. I called the forth time and was informed my solar inspection would be June 28th then received an email informing me of that on the Friday prior. Then day of the 28th I get a call at 815 telling me that the inspection was canceled cause someone was out sick. Fast forward to 830 there's someone from their company on my roof doing whatever it is they're doing. They finish and leave. Now half my power is turned off in areas of the house in which the solar panels are installed above. Called kept getting told to call my utility company. Finally had someone come out to fix but by this point I'm so done. Then at 1130 the city inspector shows up and can't preform the inspection cause they don't want the liability of touching the equipment without the company being there in which I completely understand but also another fail on this company. Now I'm a very understanding person but at this point I'm so fed up I'm ready for this nightmare to end. I would never recommend this company and I wish I could sell the panels back to them and wash my hands clean from this company. read more

Great company and did an amazing job on my home! My electric bill went from $600 a month to $184 a month!

We had solar done as an add-on to roof work by RNR Roofing. Our panels look great on the roof. The install took no time at all. They were very professional and answered all questions. It would have been nice if they would have either sent or kept a photo of the old electrical panel so that when they replaced it we knew what switch turned off what, but oh well on that end. The only other thing I have to add is that communication from the home office could have been a little better. It would have been nice to know about the application process with the utility company and that things might be denied and fixed multiple times. Overall not a terrible experience with Penguin. read more
