13 inverters shipped to progressive and never installed.
    Todd L.

So I noticed that my electric bill was sky high,($2800 for the year, normally $800) and I seem to not be getting any where near the solar production I am supposed to. I had another company come out, and so far they have discovered that I am supposed to have new Inverters on 13 of my panels, which I do not. It seems they were ordered by progressive energy solutions and shipped sept 6, 2018 to progressive. In talking with Dave from Progressive, he's not sure what happened with the RMA'd inverters and says enphase is not sure they shipped them now. He also said he was willing to help out and get the inverters ordered but that it appeared my system didn't need that many switched out. All in all, solar can be a headache, but Dave seems like he's willing to help.

***100% UNPAID REVIEW*** We hired them to replace our roof. They did so much damage that we had to let them go. They used cheap particle board and scrap wood to fix holes and replace our fascia. Additionally, the owner and director are absolutely devoid of ethics, often resorting to yelling, cursing and belittling the very people who pay their checks. Ultimately, we reported them to the California State Licensing Board and the Better Business Bureau. The CSLB found several violations. They are still under investigation, due to the fact that David tried to put a Mechanic's Lien on our house, even though he was over-paid for the work performed, by about $2000. I have made it a point to state that I have made $0 for writing this review. Read the negative reviews and make an informed decision.

Excellent service came out right away really easy to communicate great service would highly recommend Had a problem with my solar inverter and Dave came out the very next morning to troubleshoot and repair. Even though he didn't install my solar system he was very knowledgeable on it and took care of everything working with the warranty company.

This is progressive solar system falling apart. This cost me thousands of dollars in damage and progressive said too bad

Instead, it's clear this is simply how they operate--followed by deflecting blame elsewhere. This company demonstrates a consistent pattern of poor communication, missed commitments, and lack of follow‑through. They were the original installers (the Paso Branch that is now closed) and were hired (the Redlands, CA branch) to replace our batteries. Site survey completed June 2025, plans approved November, permit held for four months--and still no installation. After I repeatedly chased them, they scheduled an install for 2/10/26, then canceled four days before due to missing parts. What followed: ignored calls, unanswered emails, empty apologies from management, and promises of "personal follow‑up" that never happened. Ultimately, they blamed the lease holder and walked away citing their contract for repair had been pulled. (no kidding after 10 months of having it in your lap without ANY end in sight). Based on documented timelines and repeated lack of communication, this experience reflects systemic operational issues rather than isolated errors.

Nico and Julio arrived on time and were prepared. Within a short period they discovered that the Current Transformer connection clamps were not applied properly. With quick adjustment of the two clamps, the team then validated the system readings. Our system APP is now accurately reflecting and recording solar production, amounts sent to the grid, pulled from the grid, stored and used by our batteries and power used by our home. Replaced all system covers and answered all my questions. Thank you Nico & Julio. I love the appointment reminder that shows the names of the service techs assigned to the service call.

I am writing to formally file a complaint against UniverCity Solar LLC, located at 242 East Airport…read moreDrive, San Bernardino, CA 92408, regarding unresolved roof damage, ongoing water intrusion, broken promises, and what I believe to be negligence and misrepresentation that dates back to 2022. UniverCity Solar has visited my home on two separate occasions over the past several years to address a roof leak that developed after the installation of their solar system. During those visits, their technicians identified cracked roof tiles as the cause of the leak, repaired those tiles, and sealed the affected areas. Despite these repairs, the roof leak continued. In January 2023, I communicated directly with Aaron, a representative of UniverCity Solar, who acknowledged the damage and promised that the company would repair the interior damage caused by the leak, including repainting the roof area stained by water intrusion. Aaron repeatedly delayed this work, citing a lack of available personnel, but reassured me multiple times that the repairs would be completed. At one point, he even stated that he intended to hire a professional painter to perform the work. Trusting these assurances, I waited in good faith for over a year, during which time no repairs were made. In late 2026, heavy rains resumed and caused additional damage, including deterioration to the drywall and window sill in my dining room--the same room originally affected by the roof leak. On December 3, 2026, UniverCity Solar sent Adam to inspect the roof. At that time, they claimed to have discovered damage to a board outside the solar panel areaand abruptly stated that they were no longer responsible for any repairs. This sudden reversal is unacceptable. Regardless of any newly identified issues, UniverCity Solar previously diagnosed the leak twice as being caused by cracked roof tiles, which they stated were responsible. I relied on their expertise and professional assessment. If their current claim is that the cracked tiles were not the cause, then the company is still responsible for misdiagnosing the issue on multiple occasions, which directly resulted in delayed corrective action and increased damage. Due to the age of the damage and the prolonged delays caused by UniverCity Solar, I am now unable to file a homeowners insurance claim, as the issue is no longer considered new damage. Their failure to correctly diagnose and permanently resolve the problem has directly hindered my ability to seek insurance coverage, resulting in financial harm. Additionally, I am deeply disappointed to learn that Tim, the salesperson who sold me UniverCity Solar's services, misrepresented the company's roofing credentials. I was told that UniverCity Solar carried a full roofing license, only to be informed later by Aaron that they carry only a limited roofing license. This discrepancy further undermines my trust in the company. I am especially disheartened by this treatment given that I have provided over three referrals to UniverCity Solar, all of whom became paying customers. This level of neglect and refusal to honor written and texted commitments--copies of which I possess--is unacceptable and does not reflect the service that was promised to me. At this point, I am unsatisfied and disappointed with UniverCity Solar's conduct and believe their actions constitute negligence and potential malpractice. I am requesting that UniverCity Solar be held accountable for: * Honoring their written and verbal commitments * Repairing the interior and exterior damage caused by the roof leak * Addressing the ongoing water intrusion issue in full I processed additional complaints to the Federal Trade Commission report number 195345513 and the Better Business Bureau under the Pacific Southwest, Central & Inland California division.

Our first conversation with NetZero was with Donny, and while it was helpful, we decided to pause and keep learning. After doing more homework and later reconnecting with Nilda and Bobby, the experience felt very different. They took the time to answer questions in plain language, walked through realistic expectations, and never tried to rush us into a decision. After we decided to move forward, the process was handled professionally from start to finish. Nick helped dial in the system design and made sure everything made sense for our home, and Mark oversaw the install side and kept things moving smoothly. The crew showed up when they said they would, treated our home with care, and cleaned up at the end of each day, which we really appreciated. Permitting and inspections were handled by the team and communicated the steps along the way. There were no surprises. Kelly was especially helpful keeping us in the loop and responding quickly whenever we had questions, which made the whole process feel far less stressful than we expected going in. Overall, NetZero Energy felt like a company that values doing things the right way and standing behind their work. For the quick summary, there was a mistake in my installation, it was not handled well and the system works well but only after a long struggle. They price match but hard to say if I felt good about the price in the end either. Overall, it is very mediocre. After talking to 4 companies, I decided to go with OC after they honored a price match from a competitor. It was a fairly large system, 15 panels and a Tesla power wall 3 and needed to be added to existing system as my current one was underpowered and required due to new builds in California. Total was about 33k, out the door. It may not have been the cheapest offering but shopping for solar is not my favorite experience and I went with what I felt was at least fair for what I got. I primarily worked with Don from sales and Brooklynn and initially seemed fine and for all intents and purposes, it should have been. I chose to get HOA approval and pay for it myself so it did stall the project through no fault of OC. My HOA requires applications for major projects to be submitted along with a sizable fee, and I chose to do it by the book. I dropped the first major deposit of 10k and the installation was scheduled around July 2025. The next part is where the struggle began. The day of installation, the installers tell me the panels cannot fit in the design that they were given. They asked if I wanted to pivot to another part of roof and just install it then and there. I call OC and they admit the design cannot possibly fit my panels on this small area of my roof and I cancel the project and have them redo the plans and for me to go through HOA again. This leads to a very frustrating back and forth with Don and later Brookylnn's superiors as I no longer heard from her. I had about 10 calls or more trying to clarify what to do next and was met with a lot of resistance about what happened. It turns out the plan was actually the original estimate from Don (sales) and for some reason just pushed through their architectural team without consideration of the size. Don's superior Chandler even spoke with me about this and though I can't recall their explanation for this mistake, they spoke as if this was my issue with wanted to go through HOA and that they had no power to stop the project. If I had written this review after this call, I'd recommend no one work with these people. It felt frustrating and at times demeaning, given that they do this all day and I don't know what I'm talking about. After I got my second approval, OC refunded my fee to the HOA approval, but only after I explicitly asked for it. We eventually moved forward with the project and inspection when fine. My guess is had we not had this irresponsible prelimary design provided by Don go through their "architectural" team it would've been fine and none the wiser. As of this writing, the panels are working as intended and I had such a sour experience, I just moved on. But now Don and company requested a review for their internal systems, so here is it and a Yelp one that they did not ask for. In the end, like most of these experiences, it's not the mistake that upsets me, it's the handling of it. Communication started fading when things got more difficult and the lack of empathy or consideration for some dropping this much money on something they will do maybe 2-3 times in their life is disappointing. Much of the time I asked them and myself, how should I know this plan wouldn't work? Sure the HOA can't legally stop me, but I have to live with them, not OC. Whoever may have gotten this far, thank you for hearing my rant. Odds are you will have a fair experience but the truth is, most of these companies are interchangeable. They are all middle men and their strength and differences lie in the customer service and coordination. I didn't expect but solar buying is probably more similar to going to a car dealership. Do your research, advocate for yourself and don't get your hopes too high and it will probably be fine. As for OC, I think in the end they are just mediocre. They're like anyone else you may talk to. The processes are probably similar and I'm glad the system has worked well, which helps my scoring of this review. Maybe they just got lucky with me at the time, as I was getting fed up talking from one salesperson to the next and they price matched. I'm sure others will and can do the same so whoever you go with, as long as you are on top of it, it will go fine.
