I am so glad that we finally visited Yamas; it is located in the Enchanted Lake Shopping Center in…read moreKailua with lots of free parking. The restaurant is super clean and spacious, and they play some awesome classic rock music. You order and pay at the counter and they will bring you the food; the lady at the counter was extremely friendly and very efficient. You need to bus your own table when you're done, just place the used dishes, glasses and utensils in the labeled plastic tubs, not a big deal at all. Now, the food is the star. We order baba ganoush with pita, super gyro with zucchini fries, and a soup and salad combo. The baba ganoush was so delicious, and the pita was warm and soft. The super gyro has so much yummy meat in it that the pita can hardly hold them, and the zucchini fries were crispy and not oily. It also comes with a couple really good tzatziki sauces. My wife really enjoyed the avgolemono (lemon and chicken) soup and greek salad. She was so pleased with the combo that she had to order an extra takeout combo for her friend to try. On top of all that, we finished our great meal with a baklava sundae; two fresh crispy baklava pastries with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with cinnamon and honey. This desert is a must order. The restaurant is mixed in with a lot of other restaurants and shops in a large strip mall, so it maybe easy to miss. The prices are really reasonable and the portions are good. If you like Mediterranean food; this is the place. You will love it.

They didn't feel heavy or greasy at all, they were thinly breaded and super fresh and crispy. I would go back just for those. I ordered the lamb souvlaki, everything comes with a side so I got it with the baba ghanoush. I love the way the lamb was seasoned and the baba ghanoush was delicious I might even prefer it over hummus. Not pictured, but I even got to try their garlic fries which also weren't greasy either and they had lots of garlic! I got to try their spanakopita as well, super flaky and crispy. For me, everything was a 10/10. It ended up being a lot more food than expected and perfect if you're looking for something healthy, light, but also filling. The environment was calm and the lady who was there was super friendly as well! I'd be back all the time if I didn't live so far!

We put the vegetables, chicken, and sour cream on the pita and enjoyed it. The flavor was excellent. We even used the leftover chicken to make a chicken salad at home, and that was great too. I'd love to try their other menu items as well. Thank you very much for the delicious dinner!

Food: really good! A friend and I ordered the falafel wrap,…read morewhich I chose to add sumac onions to, and the shawarma brisket wrap. The shawarma brisket wrap was really good - tender meat with lots of rich flavor. It tasted different from other shawarma I've had before - almost like it had a sort of barbecue flavor? It was really good! The markook lavash is perfectly crispy on the outside and all the sauces and toppings go really well together. The falafel wrap was good in terms of taste, but I wish that the falafel had more of a crunchy crust, and was more fluffy on the inside. It was just a bit dense and dry but tasted good anyway! I also wish the sumac onions had more sumac. As a disclaimer, we didn't realize that we were supposed to call when we were outside the building ready to pick up our food (oops... they even say to do so on the order page! but I just glossed over that by accident). So we got our food a bit later, and maybe the falafel would've been crispier and less dense if we had eaten it right away. I'm guessing the sauces soaked into it and that contributed to it being a bit dense. I'll need to come back to try it again! What to know: Middle Eats is a satellite kitchen, meaning that you don't go to a physical shop to pick up your order. The kitchen is in a building that you can't actually enter - so you place your order online or by phone, and then go to the pick up location (55 Merchant St) to get your order. However, you need to call them to let them know you're there, and only then will they come down with your food. This makes complete sense to me and I even see the instruction on the order website now, but I guess I just missed that detail - so that's on me! There is some space to pull over in front of the building when you pick up your order, and once they know you're there, they come downstairs in just a few minutes. If you can't find nearby street parking, the nearest municipal lot is the Chinatown gateway one. I will definitely come back to try more of their food!

So much so I sat and savored my last bite. Of carrots! Spiced but not spicy. It was the kind of dish that was a spectacle, "what is in there?" Or was it just a golden hour sparkling? The House Special Rack of Lamb was good enough to write home about! The peppercorn ju dressing the pan-seared then roasted tender rack was very special, chef's kiss. Gave me shnietzel comfort but Northern African flair. There were times I bit into chunks of peppercorn that was oddly refreshing but a mouth full at the same time. Do bring a sweater or coat as it's a bit frosty inside. The server was so kind as to gave me a dress to use as a shaw. There's a set menu...a standard and a house special (with rack of lamb) you can choose from. We had 4 people so tried 4 different mains. Their menu included a delicious lentil soup, a 6 sample salad/ olive selection, a sweet/savory puff pastry filled chicken dish, mains and finally a sweet fennel cake and biscotti dessert. The mains we tried were the rack of lamb(our favorite!), calamari mogador, Cornish chicken with lemon and olives, and lamb tagine with eggplant. The rack of lamb was the clear standout, perfectly cooked and seasoned that melted in your mouth. The calamari was served in a delicious tomato sauce with still firm calamari slices. The cornish chicken was good as well. The only disappointing dish was the lamb tagine, it was a bit dry and tough...not an expected "tagine ". But the meal was overall good and tasty. Service was fun and friendly.
