I had to come back AGAIN. Oh my gosh it was so delicious. I recommended my boyfriend to go to Happy Belly Eatery with me for lunch since they were at KCC. It was 1000% worth it. The plate was SUPER filling (I ended up saving some for dinner lol) and everything was very crispy. I would definitely come back again to treat myself to a good plate lunch! :)

We had a company sponsored event and the Happy Belly Eatery Food Truck was the featured eatery. Locally owned and operated. Service was quick and efficient. Entrees were delivered hot and fresh. All were delicious.

I love Happy Belly! My usual is the jumbo shrimp katsu plate, sub the rice for fry tots. I saw this on their Specials today so I had to get it! It's now my next favorite thing on the menu!!! I've tried everything unless it has red meat or pork and everything is delicious! They really know how to fry things!!!

We tried the food truck and loved it! The plates are $19 but they're huge! 2 people could share it. We tried the mix with the jumbo shrimp and the honey chicken, as well as one with the siracha chicken. Everything was tasty, I especially liked the honey chicken. My kids LOVED the jumbo shrimp burgers ($9) in kalo buns, and they can be picky so that says a lot! Loved the sauces and the workers were super friendly. So glad my kids' school chose this food truck for their back to school event!

The food truck was parked in front of the BOH main branch downtown. We decided to try it because of a recommendation and I wasn't disappointed. It was not a bad wait and the food was hot when it came out. The shrimp was a little deceiving because it was mini shrimps mixed into some sort of batter to keep its shape. The batter to get the katsu was great it wasn't too thick and it was crispy. The only odd thing was the "shrimp" filling. I've just never had anything like that so it wasn't what I was expecting. The taste overall was good, and I would try their other plates next time.

Happy Belly with a Panda logo is such a cute name for a food place! Don't know exactly where this food truck hangs around but stumbled upon it at a recent event. Many local lunch plate options on the menu. I decided to get the Chicken Explosion ($14). It comes with 2 scoops of rice and a side of mixed salad. The sauce was unagi and their house spicy sauce on top of the fried chicken strips. Love the sweet, savory, and spicy flavor on the chicken. The chicken wasn't too dry. If I see it around, definitely will try other plate lunch. Decent pricing for the food.

Attended the What the truck in Waipahu. Had the salmon explosion and happy mix plate. Salmon wasn't dry and the mixture of imitation crab with their special sauce! The happy mix plate I chose the chicken explosion and it was nice and crunchy with that special sauce was fire! I am glad we bumped into the PURPLE truck! We're not from Waipahu and we made sure we attended this local food truck and pop up's.

Kapi'olani Community College has Happy belly eatery coming on campus on Mondays to give a lunch option. They parked in the center of campus by the lawn, between Lama Library and Naio Building. Their bright purple truck is hard to miss. I was going to be good and eat my salad but I noticed they have a Shrimp Katsu Burger and couldn't resist. Whoah! The taro bun is toasted just the right amount. I appreciate details like that. Between the bun are jumbo shrimp katsu cut in half. There's LOTS of shrimp in the katsu, not just minced but get shrimp pieces! Happy Belly is not stingy with da shrimp! Super crispy but not oily. I liked the plethora of mixed greens and the kimchi sour cream. There's a slice of American cheese that melts on the katsu. I'm not sure how I feel about that cos the cheese kinda takes away from the crunch of the katsu. If I order it again, might ask for no cheese or ask that they cheese is between bun and greens so it doesn't soggify the katsu :) I'm happy we have another food option on campus! haha. I can hear my nutritionist saying "You seem to eat a lot of fried food" - so I probably can't eat stuff from here all the time but oh my goodness, this was super enjoyable! If they had a non-fried option, I would have given them 5 stars.

They have made their way to UH Mānoa and I am in love! The menu is nice and simple and the options on there all sound so good that you really don't know what to get. I got the mix plate with the shrimp Katsu and chicken explosion. It was mouthwatering and the plate was huge!! The sauce was all over, just how I like it. The unahi and aioli went so well together and with the toss greens on the side made me feel less guilty after eating the whole plate. The person who I ordered from was super nice and answered all the questions I had about the menu. I liked that they were parked in food truck row and not on another part of campus so it's an easy walk to find that after classes. I highly recommend and get the mix plate just to try everything! My coworker also got the burger before and she said she craves it all the time!

Happy belly makes my belly happy. It's a must when I'm in the area. I love their combo plate that comes with shrimp katsu and choice of chicken. I alway get the same thing chicken explosion and shrimp katsu, and what I love about it is that's it is always consistent. I tried the honey sriracha, but found it a little too sweet for my liking. The chicken explosion had the heat that I was looking for.

Happy Belly makes my belly happy... so happy... and then kanak attack!! They have so many yummy options on their menu. I've tried their Happy Mix, Jumbo Shrimp Katsu, Honey Sriracha Chicken, Pork Katsu Burger, and Shrimp Katsu Burger. They were all so good, but my favorite has been their Jumbo Shrimp Katsu! With some of their menu items, you can make it meal with their plain fry tots and a drink and I think that's a pretty cool deal! Their fry tots are good, but I wish there were more tots than fries lol. You can find their purple food truck at Pearlridge in the old Sear's parking lot on Tuesday-Thursday 10:30am-2pm or sold out. Make sure you follow them on Instagram as they post daily on any updates about where they'll be or if they can't make it to Pearlridge that day - @happybellyeatery

Such a cool food truck that I want to come back to! I couldn't decide what to get because it all sounded so good, but I settled on the steak wrap. Great tasting and healthy wrap that satisfied my hunger. I definitely want to come back to try their chicken plates!

Thank you for making my belly happy! Food is delicious and workers are so friendly! I usually visit their truck at Mapunapuna for lunch. If you're unable to go Mapunapuna, go to the What the Truck event at Waikele. They are usually there. Also, follow their IG for updates on their menu and events they'll be at. I usually order the spicy ahi bowl with rice. It's not too spicy, just perfect. My new favorite would have to be the Jumbo Shrimp Katsu. It's crispy and I love the sauce! My sister loves their Chimichurri Steak Wrap (which includes sour cream on the side).

You can park anywhere in the Pearlridge Center parking lot Food: We ordered 5 items 1) pan fried pork cheese buns: 10/10 - pillowy soft bread expertly soaks up all the juices from the pork filling, perfectly pan fried bottom adds a bit of crunchy texture, pork filling was seasoned well and there was a decent amount of cheese inside as well (it was giving pizza flavor vibes), supposedly "spicy" but it wasn't too bad at all so this would be good even for those with a low spice tolerance 2) pulehu style short ribs: 10/10 - incredible smoked and grilled flavor, cooked and seasoned to perfection! They're not stingy either, nice portion size and a hearty amount of meat on each short rib too 3) big shrimp potstickers: 11/10 - succulent pork & shrimp filling filled to the brim of wrapper! Very on brand because these buggahs was massive and sooo tasty! Classic potsticker taste and there's a whole shrimp in there too, paired with their shoyu vinegar (I think) sauce and wooo this one was winnnahz ‍ 4) charsui udon: 10/10 - nice & chewy udon noodles and absolutely loaded with charsui and veggies that were so wonderfully stir fried allowing them to soften just a little but remain crispy, adding another layer of texture to the dish and ensuring you get a nice little crunch in every bite! 5) kau yuk (caramelized pork belly): 10/10 - big chunks of sweet & savory pork belly, but not as sweet as the name would have you think. It's actually perfectly balanced, you can definitely taste some authentic asian spices going on in there, and the meat was nice and tender Service: 11/10 We ordered take out but you can absolutely dine in if you wanted to, plenty of booths and/or tables to choose from. But I did wanna mention that we were lucky enough to meet Charlie, the owner! Really nice guy, after we gave him our order, our server Kyle took such good care of us. Checked in on us multiple times & offered to get us some water while waiting for our food. Overall: 10/10 Food was delicious, the chefs obviously know what's good, hats off to them! But the chicken katsu was one of the worst I've ever had on O'ahu. The chicken katsu was greasy and soaked in old oil that tasted rancid and oxidized, which made the panko a disappointingly saturated mess. The panko was way too browned, and neither flaky or freshly crunchy like katsu should truly be, and was a far cry from the photo in the menu. The poor, fatty chicken quality and the rubbery skin left on the chicken pieces just added to the gristly and chewy nature of the katsu. Charging customers these prices for this kind of subpar quality chicken is absolutely insulting, and we couldn't even finish the dish. It's such a disappointment to write this kind of review, but others need to know what they're getting when they order katsu at Gyotaku.

I was thrilled to see that Daiichi Ramen has opened locations all around Oahu! Back in the mid-90s…read moreto early 2000s, I used to frequent the original Aiea location at least twice a month. That spot has since closed (now home to Shaka Ramen), so when I learned about the new locations, I knew exactly where I was having dinner on my last night on the island. The two waitresses at the Pearl City location were incredibly sweet and efficient. They took our orders quickly and constantly scanned the dining room to make sure every guest had what they needed; drink refills and anything else. The interior was well lit and adorned with Japanese style kitchen curtains and posters of their most-popular ramen. The light wood on the walls and comfortable seating offered a great place to enjoy their amazing food! I ordered the spicy, flavor-packed Tan Tan Ramen along with their signature fried rice. I couldn't resist the gyoza and was hungry enough to go for six pieces instead of the usual four that come with the combo. What sets the Tan Tan ramen apart is its signature broth: a rich, creamy, and spicy blend made with sesame paste and chili oil. It has a wonderful nutty depth that perfectly coats the thick noodles and pairs beautifully with the toppings. The ramen is highly customizable, so I added extra chashu pork and Ajitama, a soft-boiled egg. The thick, spicy, and savory broth delivered an outstanding flavor profile. If you like spicy ramen, I highly recommend the Tan Tan or try the Spicy Tonkotsu...! The restaurant was easy to find in the Pearl City Shops. While it's not huge, Daiichi Ramen now has multiple locations across Hawaiʻi (Pearl City, Kahala, Kailua, plus Kailua-Kona and Hilo on the Big Island), so you're almost guaranteed to find a seat. Enjoy!

We came here to take advantage of the special, mix tempura with chicken katsu curry…read more My other half hates this place, because she calls it "dirty." We have no choice since the Kahala one is close for renovations at this point in time. When our food arrived, it looked okay. I took a bite of my carrot tempura, and it was pretty raw - this is going to be a sign of things to come. When I bit into my first shrimp tempura, it had a rather odd texture to it: nevermind the shrimp was really small, but the batter was overwhelming and made me queazy. I would later find out that the tempura was cooked in too-cold oil. This causes the tempura to soak a lot of oil (and undercook like the carrot I had first). There was at least a teaspoon of "clear" liquid at the bottom of our bowls, which I had initially thought it was liquid draining from the curry (sauce). I got a (white) paper napkin and dipped the corner in it - yes, it was oil. So too-cold oil and / or didn't bother to drain the tempura of excess oil. Yes, it made me sick, and I had to use the bathroom several times that night to get rid of it all. (I don't have a strong gallbladder, so excessive oily and fatty foods cause me to run to the toilet.) Rather disappointed the tempura was cooked like that. The curry was not that great either - felt like it had been cooking for several days now. For a "specialty" restaurant that supposed to be able to cook tempura properly, it was really sad.
