Stopped by for lunch today, i was worried since i didn't see the yellow truck but I learned it was replaced by a red truck! The truck is still in the same place, in the Pearlridge shopping center parking lot along Kamehameha highway where the old sears and zippys used to be. I wanted to update my review from 3 years ago to say that the birria tacos here are still 5 star! I would also like to mention that the price only went up $1 since my review 3 years ago which is great considering how prices are climbing. $13 for my 3 pack of queso birria tacos. The meat was plentiful and the broth was really tasty. Stop by and you won't be disappointed!
Bring cash. They charge a lot to use cards here. Woman at the register wasn't that friendly but I'm from Cali so it's whatever. As long as the food is good - she is just taking my order and handing me food. Also!! It's not located inside the mall. It's WAY down toward the edge of the 99. Near where it was the old sears building is what I have been told by my local friends. Across the street you can see the T mobile and AT&T stores. It's just a little food truck and we are thankful we finally found the correct location. The tacos are delicious. They are smaller street sized tacos but are stuffed with meat. They have the perfect amount of cheese, onions and cilantro. We ordered the Mexican roulette and had so much fun. Then we found the firecracker and wowza. The flavor was so good but the heat burnt off all my taste buds. We all tried it. It's hot and not an enjoyable one. I could drink the consume. In fact I added it to a pack of saimin noodles with some lime juice. So technically... just do it. I'm sure their ramen here is also delicious but I just want noodles and broth no meat. Our next box we picked up we skipped the hiding hell fire and opted for a regular box. It's a crowd pleaser at my house.
I got the 12 pack as well as thesis Fresca and my gf got horchata. Upon arriving, they had a pretty good line but that line moved quick. I place my order and they give you a beeper. Be ready to wait in the sun because it is a food truck. They have tables where some are in shade while others aren't. Even if you can't get a table, we did not wait very long. Maybe 10 minutes max after placing our order. The food was ok. I was expecting better but it was still good. The birria queso is not spicy at all so if you want spicy, you might want to try the hell fire. The drinks were ok. My gf and I both did not like the agua Fresca. It just tasted weird. The horchata was good in my opinion. My gf did not like the horchata but I did. They also have the option to add strawberry into it but I did not do that. If you're wanting to get full here then go for the 12 pack because I myself had to eat 6 to get full. I'm a 5'6" guy at 210lbs so took 6 tacos for me to feel full. Overall, i personally will be back but not anytime soon. I don't crave Mexican food often but I was wanting birria tacos and this hit the spot so I should be good for a while. Oh and I would recommend eating it right at the pearlridge parking lot. My food got cold quick. I drove home to Ewa and the cheese was not melted anymore, tacos weren't as crispy and it just was not hot as when we were given the box. It didn't take long to get cold so eat right away or you could reheat it in a pan or oven.
TLDR: 5/5 s!! if you haven't been here, give both their hellfire and queso (regular) tacos!! ~ Quick disclaimer: The photos below are of their old menu (they now have more options & is located on the right hand side of the ordering area) & truck (their truck is now red, closer to the Leonard's Malasadas truck) ~ La Birria is our FAVORITE place for Tacos!! If you live in the Aiea/Pearl Harbor area, this food truck is a MUST TRY! The first time we went, we got the 12 pack Birria Queso Tacos and a separate order of Hellfire Tacos. Second time, we got a 12 pack of the Hellfire Tacos & a Horchata! I would say that the better choice between the two if you were super hungry/could EAT, would be the 12 pack Birria Queso Tacos with a couple of the Hellfire Tacos. If you LOVE spicy food, I would say tackle the 12 Hellfire Tacos if you think you can handle it! My boyfriend and I are HUGE spicy food fans, but we couldn't finish all 12 (he finished 4, I finished 3) in one sitting--needless to say it was SPICY and La Birria was not messing around or kidding with that name. Regardless of which type of tacos you choose, I promise you won't go wrong with what you get!! The horchata was a great balance of milk/creaminess and cinnamon! I also love it because it has a different taste than other horchatas I've had--it's much lighter! ~ As described in the Quick Disclaimer portion, the truck has been renovated a bit along with their menu! I don't have all the changes memorized, BUT I do know that they also now have a Birria Taco Roulette pack where you get 11 Birria Queso Tacos & 1 hidden Hellfire Taco in the mix AND they have add-ons (Strawberry and Cold Brew) to their Horchata ~ The service here was awesome! The staff is so nice and they are SO SPEEDY! For our 12 pack Hell Fire Tacos only took about 3-5 minutes and when taking our order, they were so friendly & helpful! If you haven't been here, it's in the Old SEARS parking lot over at Pearlridge Shopping center right next to the Leonard's Malasadas truck! The worst part about this experience was honestly waiting in the heat/minimal shade in the area besides the few picnic tables provided under the trees, but IT'S WORTH IT, I PROMISE!! Go give La Birria a try! you won't regret it!
Here's why you go to get tacos. I love tacos. I love food trucks. I love the beautiful people that feeds my soul with the love they put in their food. La Birria's tacos will do that and more. I was driving all over, looking to get those tiny watch batteries to fix my watch. Went to a Big chain store: nope. Local drug store: nope. So I left unsatisfied. Looking to fill the void, I said I want tacos. When she asked if I need anything else with my tacos I said, "Yeah, I need some watch batteries." Guess what she said? Yup, she said I gotcha, this morning, I was getting some propane from the hardware store and they had batteries next to the check out line! Tacos will solve your problems!
10/10 would recommend! Food is prepared pretty quickly and it tastes great! It's hard to find street tacos in Hawaii imo so this was a nice surprise. They do run out of things quickly - tried getting the birria ramen and I think it's one of their popular dishes

Been coming here for as long as i can remember. The quality hasn't changed. So good and worth the line. The tacos come out fast.
This is my favorite Birria taco place in Hawaii. They are very generous with the meat and cheese. I would say a box can feed 2-3 people. There is a lot of onion and limes. The consume is flavorful, not too salty and good consistency. The food tastes very fresh, made to order and high quality ingredients. The service is made to order so please don't expect to get your food instantly. The workers are always kind and work very hard. The last time I went there, there was no seating so we usually just park our truck and eat on the bed. I would say you have about 10 minute timeframe to eat the tacos before they get cold and affects the taste.
Didn't know what to eat for lunch and my sister suggested we get birria tacos from this food truck. I've had birria tacos in the past but not from this food truck. We came at around 12:45pm there were about 3 groups in front of us. Line went by pretty fast. We both got the birria tacos 3 pack with consommé no cilantro. It looked so appetizing. The tacos were pretty crunchy and the meat was tender and each bite tasted so good with the consommé. The soup was very seasoned and delicious, I drank the rest of it after eating my tacos. If you wanted to, you could get noodles for it. Service is good, the employees were nice. Would come back again.
I was craving birria tacos so I went here today. This is the best spot for birria tacos! Love how crunchy the tacos are and the taste of the consommé! Cravings satisfied!

Delicioso! That's one word to describe how awesome this place is. My family and I can always count on eating some delicious tacos de birria here. More importantly, we don't have to worry about ever being disappointed because they "run out" of birria tacos. We ordered their 3 pack tacos that come wel-prepared with a consommé. For a drink, I ordered a Āhua de jamaica (Hibiscus). They did something clever with the consommé which was offering a side order of saimin you can put in your leftover consommé. That ended up becoming a really good surprise ending to my meal. We'd definitely stop by here again read more

Want birria? La birria is the place to go! & what! They have a food truck outside of pearlridge, um yes please! Super simple menu, they have birria tacos of course hehe and birria saimin. Also, carry birria packs of 12 if you can't get enough :) I got the reg birria tacos, it comes with 3 tacos in a pack and consome. Super flavory, the meat portion was great! The consome is not spicy just how I like it. Everything tasted great! They are located right outside of pearlridge by the malasada truck, right by chilis. lots of parking and other food trucks around if you are craving other things. read more
It's been awhile since I've had Birria tacos so made a return visit and it was once again great with crunchy shell, meat, cheese and broth. The food came out very quick, before they even finished asking for my name! The only problem is I can eat more than 3 but that would be an expensive meal to order double haha. Next time I have to add saimin or get a side. For most people though the three tacos would be enough! read more

In the parking lot at Pearlridge on the side where Chili's is. Along side there is Leonards malasada's and other food trucks. I have been wanting to try La Birria for a hot minute now! Finally without a LONG visible line I was able to find myself there. Pretty quick to receive my order as well. With little to no wait time. I ordered the $12 for 3 birria tacos and consume. Nice and warm, the consume, is a red broth with spice to it. Looks a bit oily. Mix before you drink it. I made the mistake of sipping it like that and I drank oil. Lol! The 3 tacos are nicely stuffed with so much cheese and meat inside. I wish it had a bit more onions and cilantro but all and all can't complain because they really do LOAD the taco. It also comes with a slice of lime, I squeezed upon my tacos. Dip the taco into the consume. HEAVEN. Sooo good. The flavors were really good. A beefy, cheesy and a mild spice. These tacos are pretty addicting. Probably one of the best birria tacos I've tried. But the 3 tacos did not fill me up. I was satisfied but wishing for more. On the menu there was 12 tacos for $45. And you know, I think I'm coming back for that. Its a food truck in a parking lot so there is sooo much parking. read more
This is a taco truck right off Kamehameha Highway on the bottom backside of the Pearlridge mall. Birria meat in a soft shell taco that seems to be fried. $12 for 3 queso and birria meat tacos. They also offer 2 Hot AF birria tacos for $12 that are (pardon my French) HOT AF ! I love spicy food and this taco takes the cake. One bite, sweat is dripping from the brows, second bite your questioning your judgement to continue, third bite and your wondering if this is doing some damage to the digestive system. Thank God that I also sampled the regular tacos to chase down the heat. The spice is from Ghost Pepper and wow it is hot. A dare to those who enjoy spice. I returned several days later to try again. 4 star tacos for sure. read more
I'm not an expert on birria tacos, so I can't tell you how these compare to other places, or whether these tacos are the real deal. However, I will say they are pretty darn delicious! Actually, I've only had birria tacos from La Birria, and both times that I've tried them tacos, they did not disappoint. The birria ramen was very good too - it came with a good amount of meat. We came here right at 11 am and there were only a couple of people ahead of us. They only accepted credit cards when we came - not sure if that's the case all the time, but just keep that in mind if you normally pay with cash. read more

I finally, after two years, made an opportunity to try this place. My tacos were very good, and I would probably come back, but at the price point, it won't be a regular thing for me. The 3-pack of birria tacos were everything I had hoped they would be: flavorful tacos, flavorful broth. I really like the layering of flavor - the slow-cooked meat, the fried tortillas dipped in broth, the cup of consomme to dip the tacos. Add in the melty cheese and a lime wedge, and it's a fiesta for your mouth. It's flavorful and zesty but not spicy. I had SO much broth leftover, though, and I totally see why they offer a side of ramen for your consomme. I should have opted for it, but after paying $12 for the tacos, another $5 for noodles when I wasn't sure I needed them (spoiler alert: you need them), was dicey. I know for next time. Parking is super easy, and the truck is visible from Kam Hwy, near the Malasadamobile. There are picnic tables under trees where you can stay and eat, or you can take your food to go. Several trucks nearby so you and a friend can find what you like. read more
Let's Taco bout La Birria. Since I invision their Kaka'ako truck is not happening any time soon, I finally found the window to Taco Tuesday at their Pearlridge location with trucks parked right off the Kam Hwy lot near Sears it's quite a beautiful set up with some cute outdoorsy picnic tables conveniently available nearby. Menu is straight forward simple - Birria Queso Pack (3 Birria taco and consommé - Hell Fire Tacos (2 hot af tacos and consommé or make it a pack of 12 for either Birria or Hell Fire - Birria Saimin Not in the mood for the Hell Fire so it's the Birria Queso Pack today and added a side of saimin cause I didn't come all the way here for standard. Everything tasted great not exactly wow for me...would I drive all the way back to have it again...no. It was a good taco and consommé just it was all pre-made only took 10 seconds which is as fast as they could pack it, it was all room temp which kinda bothered me in food safety wise and the saimin was cold. I understand the work it takes to prepare these tacos but am kinda disappointed how instant it was, would've been nice if it something was actually made, the stars honestly was because of the location, convenient parking and seating...awesome set up Pearlridge!! read more

Tacos that you dip??? Yes please!!! I tried the birria queso pack and the birria saimin. Their tacos are good but then you dip them in this delicious, savory consume that makes them absolutely amazing! Such a wonderful flavor in the consume broth that elevates a basic taco to the next level. The birria saimin was also very tasty that combines taco flavors with a local twist. Happy eating! read more

First time trying La Birria. It's a taco truck located in the Pearlridge shopping center parking lot near Kam Hwy (by the old Sears). I got the Birria Qoeso which is 3 shredded pork tacos with cheese and consommé for dipping. Very tasty, the consommé really adds flavor. I'm definitely coming back here. read more

Had the regular quezo biriia tacos (will try the hot AF another time), with a side of pickled jalapeños. Wow, that consommé is amazing. The birria is super tender and packed with flavor. Everything tastes so fresh. Pickled jalapeños were the real deal. Super efficient and friendly service. Don't be deterred by the small menu-they are obviously succeeding with perfecting what they are great at making. Fast service with a smile. The menu is small, tacos. They just do one thing and they do it well! The food is everything you would ever want from a street taco. The meat/filling is tender and pops a bit when you hit the onions. The taco shell is crispy, the way I love it, but not hard shell, it's a soft shell crisp. The soup/consumme that comes with it is worth drinking after you dip your tacos. The worst part of the meal is when it's over and realize that there's no more deliciousness to be had. It's worth going out of your way for this taco truck. read more

What days are they actually in the parking lot? Went on Thursday afternoon Jan 2 and nothing was there.

They close when they run out of food... so the earlier you get there the better... not super helpful, I know- but they sell out pretty fast. In Tuesdays in the evening you can get their food at the beer lab in pearlridge...
Does anyone know if they have phone? For takeout order?
No they're not I asked the same questions and the manager told me they're not. But in the future maybe they will do that's what I heard
Hours of Operation?
11:00 am- Until the food runs out! Earlier you can get there the better. Lunch rush is really busy...So late afternoon eaters may not get food!
