Food was pretty good, flavorful and the meat was tender. We decided to try the birria quesadillas. We wanted to try more things but they only accept cash or PayPal only. Besides limited options to pay I also notice they did not have any food placard on display (so we were taking a chance lol). So far so good. I've never tried the food trucks in Waikele behind Coach, so I decided to give it a try. I've had a less than good experience with Mexican food on this island, so I was not sure what to expect. The food is actually really good. I got a shrimp taco spicy and a birria taco plate. The shrimp taco was loaded with shrimp, definitely worth the price. Unexpectedly went to Waikele and found this trucks unknowingly lol. I wanted a Mangonada but they were sold out ! So I need to try it at least once ! But it must be good if it was sold out already. I ended up getting Horchata and Elote in a cup! The Hotchata was awesome and the elote was delicious. Next time i return I am getting a burrito ! Located in back of the coach store in the upper waikele outlet stores parking lot, decided to buy food from this truck since I was buying from another truck read the reviews and the farmer's market was dwindling in food tents, but I wasn't too impressed. California beef burrito - 3.5 stars - for $17, it had ground beef, fries and other items. It was pretty big and loaded, and although a little bland, the fries added in gave it a special twist. Enchilada plate - 3.5 stars - for $16 I got 2 enchiladas that were made to order, and not liking a lot of salt, was flavored just right, but the beans were salty. The rice was ok. Service - 4 stars only because the wait is long because there were 4 people before us, and it took more than 15 minutes just to order, then another 15 minutes for the food to be ready for pick-up. Both meats were well cooked and flavor. The rice was tasty and flavorful. Added guac to one ( I believe for ann extra charge) and very small amt given. Burrito is usually cilantro, onion, meat, rice and beans. I love cheese so unfortunately I was SO disappointed that they don't have cheese in the burrito. Also the burrito didn't have much salsa and felt dry when biting into it. The food truck doesn't have chips and salsa which I alwayssss crave when eating a burrito/mexican. Size was large but the cost was about $16 or so each. Flavor is good for the rice and meat in the burrito but if you want the extras and variety of options this isn't the place for you. read more

In the form of a Jeopardy Response: A. Excellent Mexican food offerings served from a food truck behind an Outlet Mall. Q. What is something that only happens on O'ahu? We sampled the chicken enchiladas and tossed in a couple Al Pastor tacos for good measure. Ample portions of quality Ingredients makes El Jaliscience a great value and worth the drive from town. I liked that the enchilada sauce is not too "saucy" but still packs a punch of flavor. You get your choice of meats...we went with chicken and it was well executed, nicely seasoned, fresh and hot. The enchiladas are topped with guacamole and shredded chihuahua cheese. We opted to leave off the sour cream. Excellent Spanish rice and very simple frijoles, which are clearly not coming from a can accompanied. My one minor feedback would be that the frijoles needed a little salt. For me...the Al Pastor taco was the star of the show. I went with Spicy...and it was spicy! Not burn-your-taste-buds-out spicy, but not wimpy either. Service couldn't have been friendlier and the whole ambiance of the food truck park is just charming. I'm not one to write a bad review, but today's experience is prompting me to do so. Mind you, I have eaten here several times over the years. I ordered my husband a chicken quesadilla plate. First, he found a small fruit fly in the guacamole. At this point he was just gonna eat everything else except the guac. A few bites into the beans he found an eye lash. So he proceeded to move the beans and guac out of the way and then it happened! He found what is in the posted picture. A long, thick, black, wavy hair (we don't know if it was a pube or (hopefully) from a beard), was discovered in the guacamole. It even had the white root at the top! The strand was about 1.5 inches long!!! He threw out the plate. I hope the owner(s) see this review and talk to their cook to address this. We won't be eating here ever again. read more

Went on 26 Dec for lunch after doing post Christmas shopping. Fiance ordered the Carne Asada Fries and was a bit disappointed. The fries started off pre oily and soggy. When fried food comes out like that, it is a restult of the fry oil not being hot enough. Digging through the carne asada fries, you can find fries at the bottom that did not have any sauce but were still almost slimy from the amount of oil on them. read more

4.0-4.5 stars for El Jalisciense in Waikele Shopping Center. First, they take credit cards, second, they take phone orders, third they are pretty consistent with the quality of food they serve. I appreciate going back to a spot where the price is the same, along with the portions-- especially since the budget has been a bit tight these days. My wife and I have been on this crazy taco fix (no pun intended) for the past month, so we've been hitting up local spots such as Taqueria el Ranchero in Wahiawa, Frida's in Waipahu, Fiesta's in Ewa Beach and here. By far, the birria, rice and beans, and carne asada are THE BEST at El Jalisciense! My go-to is the taco plate ($11); you get to choose carne asada, chicken, al pastor and it's served with rice and beans. Just a heads up, if you order salsa with the tacos, it's not served on the side. This is the only reason we decided to just demolish these babies in the car. The carne fries ($13) are LOADED with meat and super delicious. I'd say that plate is more for those who like being *that kinda full. I prefer the lighter option and having it stick to the bones with the rice and beans. (Which are bomb if you add a little sour cream and chile verde!) Only thing we wish they did differently is to not have an onion/cilantro MIX. My wife is a 'no cilantro' type, while I'm an 'extra everything' type of foodie. Here, the "cilantro on the side" means cilantro AND onions in a blended mix in one portion cup. Of course, if you're not starving to death, your picky self can pluck out the individual onions and add them to your tacos-- most times tho, just living without both seems to be the quickest solution. I don't mind that, though-- I love eating her extras! Hahaha ;) Things we've tried so far are the carne fries, carne asada, al pastor street tacos, and the birria tacos with cheese. The consommé had a different flavor which I couldn't pinpoint, but overall, they were pretty delicious. **WAY BETTER THAN LA BIRRIA IN AIEA! ** I add the chile verde salsa with all the tacos to give it that extra kick that I love so dearly. Another pointer, there is an additional $1 for this salsa ON THE SIDE. Overall, great taco truck, parking sucks, but we're in Hawaii, so-- that's kind of a given. We'll be back for sure! read more

Good Mexican food is hard to find in Hawaii. But I'm glad I found this Mexican food truck located in Waikele Premium Outlets behind the Coach store. I knew this place had to be good because there was a line. We try their chicken quesadilla and enchilada. For chicken quesadilla you can order spicy but I am not a fan of that so I got non-spicy. If you're not too hungry you can definitely share with someone. You get 6 big pieces. Chicken quesadilla came with home made whipped sour cream and spicy/water sauce that you can dip. Their tortilla was very thin and made with lots of white cheese. It was light and fresh and yummy to my tummy. I love their whipped sour cream. As for the enchilada, it came with fresh brown beans and Mexican rice. I am not too sure if this Mexican truck is close to being authentic but definitely worth trying if you're near by. read more

Plate came with 2 tacos that seemed a little larger than your average street taco's & it comes with rice and beans. Taco are delicious and they didn't scrimp in the meat. Happy Taco Tuesday! Happy eyes - everything looked yummy! Happy nose - everything smelled yummy! Happy ears - everything sounded yummy! Happy mouth - everything tasted yummy! Happy tummy - everything felt yummy! Taco trucks do exist in Hawaii... I couldn't believe it! I had to see it and experience it for myself! I drove to the Waikele Shopping Outlet (stores are closed during this Pandemic time) and entered the upper parking lot on the left side, between Zales and Coach. The El Jalisciense food truck is located between the Korean truck and the Chamorro truck. It's easy to identify because of the red, white, and green decor. My first round of food consisted of Horchata, Elote, and a shrimp taco. (Thanks to my friends in LA for teaching me about Horchata, a sweet cinnamon rice water beverage and Elote, grilled corn.) The horchata was perfectly chilled and not too sweet! The elote came in a cup with grated cheese, mayonnaise, and spices - very tasty! The shrimp taco was stuffed with goodness! Note: I'm so glad that I brought gloves with me. There's no way to eat a taco with a fork or spoon. Architecturally, a soft tortilla needs to be held gently - to prevent tearing - and firmly - to hold all of the ingredients in the flat disc. It's best to use your hands. However, there's no sink and running water nearby. I don't like the taste of hand sanitizer, so I wear disposable gloves on my hands. My next round of food (I like to eat my food hot and fresh, so, I ordered in increments) was the taquito plate and the (two) taco plate - I chose Al Pastor for my meat choice. I enjoyed the substantial crunch of the taquitos even though the tortilla was on the thicker side. The guacamole gave more flavor and dimension to each deep fried stick. The Al Pastor tacos were alright. My first choice was lengua (tongue) because it would have been more tender. I was disappointed that lengua wasn't available today. By that time, I was full and I couldn't even eat the beans and rice that came with the two plates. This was overall a wonderful experience. I ate standing up with the trunk of my car as my table. The fresh air was a pleasant temperature in the afternoon as it began to rain with a light mist. I felt truly blessed and happy on this Taco Tuesday! read more

With one lime soda it was $18. The tacos are small soft Street tacos which were very tasty. But as Street tacos go, they are on the small side. I could have eaten 4 myself but me and hubby split it. I'm an Oahu transplant, raised in San Diego, California, so I've spent a few years trying to find Mexican food as close in flavor as San Diego-style Mexican food. I thought I found only one place a couple years ago. In comes El Jalisciense to save the day, this COVID-19 "stay in place" Cinco de Mayo of 2020! My husband randomly found this food truck through Grubhub, and ordered us an enchilada plate, elote in a cup, and carne asada fries since he knows how much I love this dish. The food truck was kind to call my husband back to ask for the type of meat and spice level of his enchilada, which wasn't available on their Grubhub menu. No biggie and we appreciate the call! In comes the food, I take a bite of carne asada fries, and I could not believe that they closely resemble San Diego's! The quality of the fries brings me back to Taco Fiesta in Paradise Hills, San Diego! I have eaten carne asada fries from six Mexican restaurants on Oahu, and only TWO come close to San Diego's quality...the unnamed competition and El Jalisciense. My husband's enchilada was tasty too, saucy but not too greasy. Some of the best Mexican food on Oahu delivers through Grubhub as well! Actually, I didn't mean to shop here, but the food truck we frequent next door was closed, and my daughter saw the photo of the mangonada. I really dislike giving negative reviews, but feel it is necessary. To keep everything short, all I'm going to say is that this food truck, it's workers need to work on their customer service skills!
