Carne asada burrito
Jennifer H.

Oh. My. Gosh. I'm so happy we finally got to try this! The Mexican food spots on this side are kinda hit and miss unfortunately. I'd seen so much about this trailer that I was excited to find out they had a spot at the Wai Kai Thursday market! It had been a couple months since we'd been to this market so we didn't see a lot of the same vendors from the last time we came. Dinner was an easy choice. Plus I was picking up dinner for a vegetarian friend and they happen to make their burritos without meat as well. Solid friggin choices. My friend loved her burrito and I was in heaven with each taste. Each bite was so flavorful and well proportioned. The rice was well seasoned Spanish rice; I got carne asada for my meat; and each bite had avocado, seasoned beans, and salsa mixed in. This is definitely a must try if you're looking for a solid, super flavorful burrito. I'm already looking forward to my next visit lol

This thing was packed with meat!

This was my first stop when I got on island this year and boy am I glad it was! Due to a series of delays and mishaps it'd been almost 14 hours since I had any real food. My buddy I was staying with was telling me to check him out and showed me where he sets his cart up. I was so hungry I asked if I could just grab a burrito instead of waiting for actual dinner plans. One thing I know is usually someone in a small cart on the side of a road usually as something good cooking. This cart has seen better days for sure but the food was top notch. We got there late into the evening and he had about 8 people waiting for food. He got through them pretty quickly, most seemed like regulars. He only had burritos and quesadillas on the menu with chicken or steak as options. And you could get it spicy if you wanted. We ended up getting four burritos, all spicy but one and three steak and a chicken. And we also got a plain cheese quesadilla for the kiddo. He might have some different options earlier in the day but I imagine this guys sells out a lot. We left and he was already checking to see if he had enough for the next several people that showed up. The steak was super tender and flavorful. Also there was a good chunk of meat in there so he doesn't skimp on the protein. The chicken was juicy and delicious but the steak was definitely the star. The quesadilla was also great. He cooked it to where it was a little bit crispy and it was loaded with cheese! The spicy sauce was pretty solid. I'm a chili head so I would have taken something spicier but I know it will be plenty for those who don't like a ton of spice! Based on a quick bit of research it looks like he sets up at the "What the Truck?" Food truck events. Go check him out! I might grab another burrito before I leave!

This Kid rocks!! Found this cutie at What the Truck?! Kaka'ako which is an event I've never been before and that's a whole another review but their menu is simple, Carne Asada Burrito (meat, rice, beans, cheese, tomato, avocado and salsa) All made to order so it's just a short wait to this portable yumminess every single bite was just so good and from what they say they're very new and looking to expand their location as they're only in Geiger Park and do hope that they will be here in Kaka'ako in future events. That salsa btw is amazing every ingredient in the burrito brings it together but the salsa is tasty and hope they expand their menu and have some chips to go with the salsa...hint hint!! Follow them on Instagram @daburritokid and show this kid some love!! Thank you!

This was worth it. Definitely 1 burrito can feed 2 people. Great service/food highly recommend.

I first saw Da Burrito Kid on Tiktok when a video of the owner pushing his cart from his house to Geiger Park popped up on my feed. That got me really intrigued to stop by because I gotta support the grind. The first time I tried their burritos, I was the first customer of the day. They were also only in business for maybe a couple of weeks. The owner is super nice and friendly! He was born in Mexico so you know you're getting the real deal. I took my burrito home and while the flavor was good, I thought it was just missing something. I thought it was a little dry and I remember saying to my family: "Man, I wish there was some kind of salsa or sauce inside." The owner messaged me saying that he actually forgot the salsa inside my burrito and offered me another one on the house. I went back for my second burrito and lemme tell you, the salsa makes it. It adds another level of flavor, moisture, and HEAT. I have a low spice tolerance, so it packed a kick. Nothing unbearable but I had to drink water throughout. I don't think I have ever had a better burrito, and it is well worth the price. Now I'm hungry for another! Follow me on IG @hungrylilbean and Tiktok @hungry.lilbean for more food recs!

We ordered the shrimp/ steak burrito and it was SOOO bomb!! The shrimp were huge and the burrito was hefty, we went to the Kaimuki location. The next day we wanted to go back! 10/10 Highly Recommend

This is a one man shop that is slinging some of the best burritos and quesadillas I have had on the island. Service was fast and efficient, and reasonably priced. The burritos are packed with flavor and ingredients. Definitely will be back.

Super cute cart!

BEST BURRITO ON THE ISLAND!!! The rice and meat are cooked PERFECTLY! Very very flavorful! The mild salsa has a nice kick to it! All the flavors come together PERFECTLY! I follow them on Instagram to see their exact locations and updated time! Sometimes they are in KAKAAKO too!!

Was here visiting daughter and new grand baby. Heard about Da burrito Kid. Walked over since she lives right by his location. Coming from California and tons of Mexican food restaurants I feel I know good burritos. All I can say is DA BURRITO KID Is off the charts good. I would highly recommend the Kid for a burrito. I can't wait to get back over and visit so I can another amazing burrito.

Best burrito on the island! I love the carne asada, but that surf and turf burrito stole my heart. This was my biggest craving through my last pregnancy and anytime my husband asks me what I want to eat "a burrito from da burrito kid" is always the answer.

It's been a while since I enjoyed a Mexican restaurant and always enjoyed the ambiance. I ordered a blended, Li Hing Mui margarita as soon as we were seated. The server who brought us our drinks had an attitude. He was about to set my marg down in front of my boyfriend and was told that it was mine. He looked irritated when he had to make the switch. I thought that was super rude because how hard is it to move a drink? I told our waitress that I needed another glass because my margarita appeared to be leaking out from a crack somewhere. She told me that "Yeah if these aren't sipped fast enough it will spill." I was like, "honey, do I look like I take small sips? The glass has a crack." Other than that,I really enjoyed the food and visiting somewhere new with my boyfriend

My search for my favorite Mexican restaurant on Oahu continues, and I really enjoyed my visit…read moretoday! We started with chips and salsa, which came with traditional red salsa and two additional bottled salsas. My favorite was the orange-colored one, it was so good! For an appetizer, I ordered the taquitos, which came out quickly and were surprisingly filling. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken fajita skillet. It was served with a plate of rice and beans, along with pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole on the side. My friend ordered the two-taco plate with Baja fish tacos, rice, and beans. She thought they were delicious! The tacos were topped with slaw, cabbage, tomatoes, and an avocado salsa. The only thing I didn't quite enjoy was the horchata. After taking a few sips, I asked if I could switch it to a Jamaica drink instead. It was better, but it still didn't quite hit the spot for me. One thing I really appreciated was that we were served water immediately after being seated, in the cutest Corona cups! Another server also stopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch and showed great teamwork. Thank you for the fast and friendly service. We will definitely be back! We also watched another table order a margarita that completely stole the show. It was served with a little duck on top and was basically a giant pour-your-own cocktail for the entire table. I thought it was genius and definitely had that wow factor. I AM COMING BACK!

A hearty eater would probably need four or five. Both wrapped together in foil. In fact, so small, that I told the guy at the window that I ordered two. Then he told me they're both wrapped together. He gave me both sauces - chili and green. The person I bought one of the tacos for didn't want hers after showing it to her. I must say, the grounded beef had a dry taste and texture. I added the green sauce hoping it would liven up the tacos. The tortilla shell was very soft too. Topped with some cilantro and onions (chopped small to my liking). Overall, the tacos turned out like how I expected. NOT a "Wow" first impression. I gave this place a 4-star rating because I'd go back. I used to like beef tacos (before I discovered SOH's Birria Tacos). Service was pleasant and cordial. A few people had ordered before and after me. They're located in Pearl City Shopping Center where Long's Drugs is and on the left as you walk up to Ben Franklin. This place keeps busy mainly because of the location - lots of people walking around. Oh, my beef tacos was only $3.00 since it was "Taco Tuesday." I looked at my receipt and realized that.

With the number of people we had it was a bit tight, but we made it work and the energy was great. As a vegan, it can be challenging finding something that fits the bill, but I was able to enjoy the chips and pico de gallo and the portion was huge, so I ended up sharing with my table. Despite our large group, everyone's food came out quickly, which was impressive. The servers were really kind and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. There was also plenty of free parking, which is always a huge plus. Chips and salsa right off the back. Mmmmm. 1) Cheese Burrito plate. Very good. 2) Taquitos plate. Crunchy, not over cooked. 3) Tamale / taco combo plate. I loved that the taco didn't crack in half when I bite into it like some other taco places. 4) Ground beef chimichanga. All plates comes with Spanish rice and refried beans. Pros: Nice portions that would fill you up. Food came hot and fresh. Con: Maybe it might have been me but, I would have like more chip and salsa.
