My crazy @$$, drove along the side of the building and went to where they were. The owner, Shawna, told us we needed to wait in the parking lot. LOL! When she said they were ready, we ordered the shrimp and the bbq chicken. Since it was Wednesday, we got the special which came with all the sides. The chicken was sooooooo tender! The shrimp were nice and crispy! Loved the mac n cheese and those greens with the bacon... Soooooooo good! Nice butter corn and cornbread! Oh, and we got lumpia too...and you need to go early or they will be sold out! Shawna also gave a sample of the shrimp and catfish while we were waiting. That was really nice of her. This is one of those not so hidden gems worth driving to! If you're on your way to the North Shore, make a stop and grab some lunch! You won't be disappointed! Mahalo Lacoy's!

I'm normally not the biggest fan of shrimp, so I don't usually gravitate towards it. But I wish I wasn't so stubborn because the few bites I had of both the Butter Garlic Shrimp and Spicy Garlic Shrimp completely changed my mind. Since I'm not the biggest spice person, I preferred the butter garlic option. The shrimps aren't peeled, but they're butterflied, which makes them much easier to peel. The shell itself is packed with flavor, though, so I recommend sucking it before removing. The rice was flavorful, and the salad on the side was refreshing. I simply regret not ordering a plate of shrimp for myself. I'm a lazy person and don't like peeling shrimp, but this was worth peeling for.

BACKGROUND ON JENNY'S SHRIMP:…read more Jenny's Shrimp Truck began as a small, family-run business with a simple mission: to serve the freshest, most flavorful shrimp on the North Shore. Jenny, the founder, was inspired by the rich seafood culture of Hawaii and wanted to share her love for local flavors with the community. Armed with a secret garlic butter recipe passed down through generations, she set out to create something truly special. In the early days, Jenny's food truck was nothing more than a converted van with a makeshift kitchen, parked along the scenic roads of Haleiwa. She focused on using locally sourced shrimp, ensuring that every plate was as fresh as possible. Word quickly spread about the delicious shrimp dishes, and soon, both locals and tourists were lining up to get a taste. JENNY'S SHRIMP TRUCK MISSION STATEMENT: A Taste of Hawaiian Paradise Nestled in the heart of Haleiwa, Hawaii, Jenny's Shrimp Truck is a must-visit destination for seafood lovers looking for a true taste. BACKGROUND ON VISIT: This was part of our Dole Plantation/Haleiwa tour that we signed up for. Lunch wasn't provided so this was on our own dime. CREDIT CARDS: They're accepted, but they tack on a transaction fee. RESTROOM: There's a restroom next door. AMBIANCE/DECOR: Not much ambiance, but they do have tables and chairs setup in their covered patio. SERVICE: Service was alright. Didn't take long for our food to come out. FOOD OF CHOICE: Garlic shrimp plate which came with rice and a slice of pineapple. Enjoyed the shrimp. It was quite tasty and easy to peel. I had a nice time eating the rice with their signature garlic sauce. SHRIMP TRUCK FOR THOUGHT: I would love to come back to have it again.

So I did by texting the number, and communication was amazing. I pulled up to the meet-up location in Wahiawa at the designated time, and the order was packaged nicely. I'm sad to say that the spicy ahi bombs were too salty for my family's taste, and the pasteles were too bland. Spicy ahi was frozen, which I actually didn't mind because fresh ahi is really hard to come by these days. However, I don't think that the price was justifiable for the quality. Don't think I'll order from them again, but it was nice to try. 2.5/5.

The problem was the amount of time it took to make and deliver the food to the customers. There were two people in the truck. It was as if they were cooking one thing at a time. It look at least an hour and there were not even that many people in line waiting. One woman was taking orders and the man was cooking. The woman said it was her first or second day but in the time my husband ordered, my other child and I walked around for twenty minutes looking for other options (I wanted garlic shrimp, and they did not offer that on their menu), I went across the way after our walk, ordered a meal, got my meal, and sat there waiting to eat and it still look half an hour for the rest of the family to receive their orders. It was absolutely ridiculous. As another patron stated on Yelp, perhaps they should have stopped taking orders if they could not keep up.
