I was told the "young girl" seems to now be running the lunch wagon. Loved my plate lunch because the Pinakbet had a lot of pumpkin & eggplant. Also included some okra, long beans bittermelon. I actually like bittermelon so could have used more and appreciated that it did not have a lot of lechon. The rice was a bit mushy though. The Filipino items are only available on certain days. Well they had 3 people working in the food truck so food came out fast. Reasonable prices too. Came home and the plate was full overly spilled into the other compartments but its OK. The chicken adobo was missing the vinegar shoyu taste. The sari sari was good taste and the dingaguan was a little watery my husband said. But it was ok. The pork was tender. We had plans to go to Kapolei to have acai bowls for lunch. We decided to try Lanie's Lunch Wagon for a take home dinner. Lanie's lunch Wagon is located in the bowels of Campbell Industrial Park. They have a variety of cuisines. Hawaiian, Phillipino, Puerto Rican, and American. My wife saw that they served Pinakpet. Well that wasn't on the menu when we got there. I decided to order the Philipino Combo. It consisted of chicken adobo, Dinuguan, and Sari sari. The flavors of our Combo plate were lacking. Adobo was lacking in the vinegar taste. The diniquan seemed watered down. Couldn't taste the rich flavors of the blood . It was all pork and no inards. The Sari Sari was best of the three. Omg! The hidden gem of all filipino food trucks. It is located in the Campbell Industrial area. The ladies behind the counter are very customer oriented and will make custom plates to your liking. They are very prepared and fast service even if the waiting line is long. I've been coming here for years whenever I'm in the area. I thought I wrote a review, but I guess I overlooked it. Lanie's has always been consistent in their food quality and low price. The portions are very generous, so be prepared to drive safely after you finish your meal, lol. They also serve different kinds of local foods. Menu items change on certain days. They have individual plates and/or combination plates. For those who don't eat much, they also have mini plates, too. I've tried a lot of different dishes, but on my last trip here, I had Pastele over Gandule Rice covered with Pastele Stew. Omg! They got everything from Pastele Stew to Lechon Kawali to Squid Guisado to Baked Saba and their Hawaiian Plates served on Friday's. Prices here for a Plate Lunch are reasonably priced at $10 and you can get a Mix Plate with up to two or three choices for only $12. Plate Lunches here are hefty. You definitely get your money's worth here at Lanie's. I hear the lines here get ridiculously long during lunch hours and I'm pretty sure they sell out of a lot of items here with all the hungry workers here at Campbell Industrial Park. What got me so excited about Lanie's is that they are opened on Saturday's which means I can drive all the way from Mililani and get my Lanie's Fix knowing that they won't run out of any items when I get there early. I work from Monday thru Friday in Waikiki, so I know when work is done for me there would be nothing left for me if I drove all the way from Waikiki to Kapolei So here I am lucky me on a Saturday and there are a few items that caught my eye. You know the lunch wagon is good when there's a line of people despite other lunch wagon options within a block radius. You know it's even better when people are waiting in line for them to open! What makes them so great? - DEALS! All their plate lunches are less than $10! Majority of the main plates were $8 and specials are $9.50. The plates are also filled full with food! I could imagine a similar plate lunch being +$10 in town. - Homemade taste - all their food taste like it's homemade. I had the pastele stew while my dad had the pinakbet. He says that Lanie's has the best pinakbet on the island. I loved the pastele stew and totally wish I had some as I write this review. It has a ton of pork! I'm not a fan of bittermelon (for now), but the pinakbet tasted pretty good! Each plate came with rice and tuna mac and/or regular salad. Honestly we came here for lunch because the first 2 food trucks I really wanted to try didn't work out so well LOL. My coworker was sick of driving us around so they decided on going to a place they already know and love... Lanie's. This was my first time here. I heard there's always a line, but we got there pretty late, (about 30 minutes til closing) and there was no line! A few items were already wiped from the board. I actually wasn't going to get anything until my coworker offered to buy me a plate. Since I wasn't expecting on eating anything because I already had home lunch, I reluctantly decided on the mini chicken adobo (I couldn't make up my mind). After I did order, I wanted the pastele and gandule rice, but I figured I could get it next time. By the look of the truck and where they're located, you really wouldn't think much of the food (just an observation of course); however by actually giving it a try, the food was really good. Multiple people have told me that nothing is bad here. I wouldn't say service is top notch because when I asked for lumpia earlier, they just shook their head. I had to ask, "so is that a no?" and they shook their head again lol. It didn't bother me a whole lot, but hey the food speaks for itself I guess! They made our plates pretty quick. I also got some mochi balls to-go! I was starving and couldn't wait so I ate the mochi balls during the ride back to the office and wow, for just a $1 it is sooo good. Not too sweet, but sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. I loved the consistency of the mochi. It wasn't too hard or too chewy. You get 4 decent sized mochi balls for $1! Talk about a deal. We got back to the office and I was shocked at how good my chicken adobo was. At first glance I wasn't hoping for much, but when I took that first bite, it reminded me of when my dad would cook adobo for me. There wasn't enough rice-to-chicken ratio, but the chicken was soft and tender and the flavor was amazing. It's a perfect comfort food for me. My coworker also shared her pork sari sari with me and that was also good! I can't compare it to a lot because I don't eat pork sari sari as much as adobo. Overall, it definitely lives up to the saying "everything is good here." You also can't beat the prices! I can't wait to try other daily specials as well as get my hands on that gandule rice! If you're looking for reasonable lunch plates with a good amount of food in your plate, Lanie's lunch wagon is the place to go. I suggest going about 10:30am because after that the line gets really long with workers. The have Filipino, Hawaiian & local plate lunches and all the dishes I've tried so far is very tasty. Today I got the pastele with gandule rice. I tried their pastele stew before, but personally I like just their regular pasteles. Their gandule is a little spicy so just as a warning if you don't care for spicy. But it's very flavorful & it has olives and meat in it. My mom got their Hawaiian plate which she really enjoyed and the plate was really heavy! I asked them to put the salad in a separate container so that the sauce from the long rice doesn't get all over the salad. And my step dad got the mochiko which was pretty good as well but different from what we make at home. My picture shows one piece of it. The line had a few people but it moved quickly. Unfortunately it was a Tuesday so no Hawaiian food but I ended up getting the chicken curry. I asked for no salad. When I got back to office and opened my plate, I was shocked to see so much food. The curry was almost overflowing out of my plate. I'm curious to see what it would've looked like if I had gotten salad. I ended up saving half of it for lunch the next day. The curry was still hot and was delicious. If you never venture into Campbell Industrial Park, I'm giving you one tasty reason. It is called Lanie's Lunchwagon. Most meals are only $5 and the mix plates are $6. Lanie's has been operating in the area for about seven years. Owner Linda Pasiwen says sales have dipped since the construction industry has slowed; however, her lines are still long. Builders wait in line with folks from Tripler Army Medical Center, The Gas Company and the Hawaii Department of Education. Pasiwen says regulars come as far as Waianae, Makakilo, Ewa Beach and Ko Olina. They come for popular items such as garlic shrimp, roast beef, pepper steak and roast turkey with stuffing. They also come for the ham and turkey sandwiches and chili dogs, reasonably priced at $2.50. What plate lunch do construction workers request the most? Pasiwen says on Monday her biggest items are roast turkey with stuffing and salmon. And every Friday, they come for the special Hawaiian plate lunch. Lanie's offers two different Hawaiian specials. One option features lau lau, lomi lomi salmon and a choice of beef or tripe stew. The other includes lau lau, kalua pig with cabbage and chicken long rice. Lanie's also has a large selection of Filipino dishes like pork adobo, pancit bihon and pinapaitan. The special Filipino mix plate, $6.50, comes with all three. Lanie's is a family business. The lunch wagon is named after Pasiwen's eldest daughter. She says the business is run with a strong sense of ohana and the aloha spirit. Damn! What happened to this place? Used to love the food, but it's seriously gone down hill. Ordered about 6 plates today; pastele and gandule rice, baked chicken, chicken papaya, pork gisantes and hamburger curry. Everything was sloppy. My plate specifically was the pastele n gandule rice. The pastele was tasteless and had none of that achiote oil oiliness that gives pasteles its unique color and flavor. Also, the gandule rice was soggy and was more like a Spanish rice, without any meat and barely any color. My husband had the baked chicken plate and let's just say that when I saw him take a bite of his uncooked looking chicken, it already looked unappealing to me, but when he pulled the flappy skin away, and spit it out, I was thoroughly glad that I didn't order that.
