    Carne asada burrito

Oh. My. Gosh. I'm so happy we finally got to try this! The Mexican food spots on this side are kinda hit and miss unfortunately. I'd seen so much about this trailer that I was excited to find out they had a spot at the Wai Kai Thursday market! It had been a couple months since we'd been to this market so we didn't see a lot of the same vendors from the last time we came. Dinner was an easy choice. Plus I was picking up dinner for a vegetarian friend and they happen to make their burritos without meat as well. Solid friggin choices. My friend loved her burrito and I was in heaven with each taste. Each bite was so flavorful and well proportioned. The rice was well seasoned Spanish rice; I got carne asada for my meat; and each bite had avocado, seasoned beans, and salsa mixed in. This is definitely a must try if you're looking for a solid, super flavorful burrito. I'm already looking forward to my next visit lol

This thing was packed with meat!

This was my first stop when I got on island this year and boy am I glad it was! Due to a series of delays and mishaps it'd been almost 14 hours since I had any real food. My buddy I was staying with was telling me to check him out and showed me where he sets his cart up. I was so hungry I asked if I could just grab a burrito instead of waiting for actual dinner plans. One thing I know is usually someone in a small cart on the side of a road usually as something good cooking. This cart has seen better days for sure but the food was top notch. We got there late into the evening and he had about 8 people waiting for food. He got through them pretty quickly, most seemed like regulars. He only had burritos and quesadillas on the menu with chicken or steak as options. And you could get it spicy if you wanted. We ended up getting four burritos, all spicy but one and three steak and a chicken. And we also got a plain cheese quesadilla for the kiddo. He might have some different options earlier in the day but I imagine this guys sells out a lot. We left and he was already checking to see if he had enough for the next several people that showed up. The steak was super tender and flavorful. Also there was a good chunk of meat in there so he doesn't skimp on the protein. The chicken was juicy and delicious but the steak was definitely the star. The quesadilla was also great. He cooked it to where it was a little bit crispy and it was loaded with cheese! The spicy sauce was pretty solid. I'm a chili head so I would have taken something spicier but I know it will be plenty for those who don't like a ton of spice! Based on a quick bit of research it looks like he sets up at the "What the Truck?" Food truck events. Go check him out! I might grab another burrito before I leave!

This Kid rocks!! Found this cutie at What the Truck?! Kaka'ako which is an event I've never been before and that's a whole another review but their menu is simple, Carne Asada Burrito (meat, rice, beans, cheese, tomato, avocado and salsa) All made to order so it's just a short wait to this portable yumminess every single bite was just so good and from what they say they're very new and looking to expand their location as they're only in Geiger Park and do hope that they will be here in Kaka'ako in future events. That salsa btw is amazing every ingredient in the burrito brings it together but the salsa is tasty and hope they expand their menu and have some chips to go with the salsa...hint hint!! Follow them on Instagram @daburritokid and show this kid some love!! Thank you!

This was worth it. Definitely 1 burrito can feed 2 people. Great service/food highly recommend.

I first saw Da Burrito Kid on Tiktok when a video of the owner pushing his cart from his house to Geiger Park popped up on my feed. That got me really intrigued to stop by because I gotta support the grind. The first time I tried their burritos, I was the first customer of the day. They were also only in business for maybe a couple of weeks. The owner is super nice and friendly! He was born in Mexico so you know you're getting the real deal. I took my burrito home and while the flavor was good, I thought it was just missing something. I thought it was a little dry and I remember saying to my family: "Man, I wish there was some kind of salsa or sauce inside." The owner messaged me saying that he actually forgot the salsa inside my burrito and offered me another one on the house. I went back for my second burrito and lemme tell you, the salsa makes it. It adds another level of flavor, moisture, and HEAT. I have a low spice tolerance, so it packed a kick. Nothing unbearable but I had to drink water throughout. I don't think I have ever had a better burrito, and it is well worth the price. Now I'm hungry for another! Follow me on IG @hungrylilbean and Tiktok @hungry.lilbean for more food recs!

This is a one man shop that is slinging some of the best burritos and quesadillas I have had on the island. Service was fast and efficient, and reasonably priced. The burritos are packed with flavor and ingredients. Definitely will be back.

    Super cute cart!

BEST BURRITO ON THE ISLAND!!! The rice and meat are cooked PERFECTLY! Very very flavorful! The mild salsa has a nice kick to it! All the flavors come together PERFECTLY! I follow them on Instagram to see their exact locations and updated time! Sometimes they are in KAKAAKO too!!

Was here visiting daughter and new grand baby. Heard about Da burrito Kid. Walked over since she lives right by his location. Coming from California and tons of Mexican food restaurants I feel I know good burritos. All I can say is DA BURRITO KID Is off the charts good. I would highly recommend the Kid for a burrito. I can't wait to get back over and visit so I can another amazing burrito.

Best burrito on the island! I love the carne asada, but that surf and turf burrito stole my heart. This was my biggest craving through my last pregnancy and anytime my husband asks me what I want to eat "a burrito from da burrito kid" is always the answer.

I hit follow right away -- and when I saw they were nearby, I waddled my very pregnant self over to grab a plate. I ordered their Combo Plate: two scoops rice sprinkled with furikake, crab potato salad, fried noodles, and two proteins. I chose garlic fried chicken and teri beef. It was so good I actually cried a little. Living on the Big Island, everything was so far, and I couldn't satisfy my cravings easily -- so finally having a real plate lunch felt like comfort and home all at once. I hadn't been back since, mostly because they don't have a set schedule, and whenever they were close by, Bubba would be napping or I'd find out too late. But today, I finally got to go again -- and this time I brought Bubba. And she remembered me. "Weren't you pregnant last time?" she said. Such a small thing, but honestly an amazing memory and such a warm customer experience. Bubba and I had a little sidewalk picnic together. He tried fried noodles for the first time, loved the teri beef, and of course devoured the rice -- his forever favorite. I saved half the plate for my boyfriend since he's working. It felt like such a full-circle moment... sharing with my son the exact plate lunch that made me cry (in the best way) when I was pregnant with him.

Got there this time after 11:00 am. I think it was about 11:20. I was 3rd in line ordering. I ordered the after school special plate includes 5 rolls taegu Kim chee sushi rolls and 4 pieces boneless fried chicken. The rolls were tasty and the fried chicken was crispy skin and a lightly salted. Told the girl inside the truck we looked for you guys last week thursday and you guys wasn't there. She started to laugh explaining why they weren't there but I cut her off and said that day we came back 3 times couldn't find them we went home. LOL. Took a picture of their menu. If you in the area, stop by. Support them. They make everything fresh it's about a 20 min wait. P.S. They only open Tuesday through Friday 11-3pm.

Mmm...even worse than the first experience. Despite them posting on their social media that they wouldn't run out because they ordered double (I guess of their ingredients), they were sold out after 3 hours. My partner also enjoyed his. $30 per bucket, half a sweet corn on the cob, one boiled egg, two crab legs, approx 7 shrimp, some sausage and a lot of baby potatoes. I picked the spicy Cajun and it wasn't too hot on the mouth but enough to make your nose run. Do wish you got more crab as the legs are very small. My partner enjoyed his hapa sauce which is cheehoo sauce (creamy coconut with garlic) and you can mix it with any other sauce (regular Cajun, not spicy or spicy Cajun). I highly recommend you look up their schedule on Instagram to see where they are for the week. It was about an hour drive in rush hour from Waikiki but well worth it. Truck was bright and parked outside of a hotel and the lady who took our order was super kind! Didn't have much of a wait and we got there after 5pm. They supplied cutlery and gloves for eating.

For months my boyfriend had been wanting to try these smash burgers, but he works during the day--and I honestly didn't think they'd survive the wait until he got home. Thankfully, we finally got to try them together, and it was so worth it. This is a true one-man operation, so it does take a bit of time to place your order--but trust me, the wait pays off. My boyfriend got the OG Smash Burger and immediately regretted not adding an extra patty... or ordering a second burger altogether. I went with the Pineapple Express, and as my very first smash burger experience? I was obsessed. Pro tip: get your own fries. You will not want to share. You will side-eye the other person. And yes, it could absolutely start a fight over who ate more. Adrian's Smash Burger is open Monday-Friday, 10 AM-3 PM. For weekend hours, check their Instagram. I then noticed it was back again this morning! I looked up the name on Instagram and found out they were serving up Mexican food! My hubby loves Mexican so we had to try it out. First off, the customer service was amazing! They talked story with us, asked tons of questions about what we wanted in each order since everything is made to order. Here's what we got: 1. Beef Nachos: we ordered the small portion but this was HUGE! It has cheese, choice of beef or chicken, onions, cilantro, & sour cream. My hubby loves nacho cheese so he loved this! There was a generous portion of beef on top too. 2. Cheese Quesadilla: this was actually a kids quesadilla but it was definitely a regular sized one! It was simple with just cheese & tortilla but, they did not skimp on the cheese. It was THICK! 3. Chicken Burrito: this was definitely the star of the show! It was HUGE! Hubby and I shared it and couldn't finish it. It was stuffed with pico, flavorful chicken, cheese, sour cream, beans & rice. It was messy but sooo good! Highly recommend! Overall, it's dangerous how often and close they are to where we live! We'll definitely be back!

I was kind of skeptical from ordering, since most restaurants In Hawaii that serve Mexican food, kind of give less than what it's truly worth. So I asked the local braddah "is it a lot?" And he assured me that if I'm not satisfied he would fully refund me. So I waited..... when I was called he showed me my order- carne Asada fries, and let me tell you... it can feed more than a family of 4. I never got his name but my bro, for serving great customer service along w great food.
