    Chicken enchilada plate and horchata

Aside from an occasional visit to Taco Bell I don't get to eat Mexican food except with Doc in San Diego, Tijuana or Arizona. Yelp friends here, Texas and beyond were posting photos of enchiladas, burritos and more with rice and beans smothered in cheese. The other day I placed a phone order here after reading Bruddah Fran's review. He was rrright. I enjoyed my meal for both my lunch and dinner cuz there was enough. Everything was tasty. I really liked the savory, moist shredded chicken in the 2 enchiladas.

finally made it to acapulco! its been on my bookmarks for awhile since it said dogs allowed on yelp. I called to make sure and they said yes! yay! We checked in with a staff member and she sat us outside. its a little bit hot out since it's patio seating, but we're ok with it since we get to have our babies join us! menu is by QR code which is annoying tho and everything is generally really rushed, so it's not the best place to go if you want to catch up with a friend. price point is fair considering how everything is expensive nowadays and portions were huge.

Thinking of Mexian food and which market to get my Friday specials I decided to try Acapulco. Foodland is in the same shopping center. I got to kill two birds with one stop. When entering you past some patio seating. The interior is bright and festive. Service was pleasant and fast. I ordered a Burrito and Quisadlla plate with no rice. My wife ordered the mini Quisadlla. The mini plate actually had three Quisadllas. Overall it was about my expectations. Enjoy

My son raved about this establishment last week and we decided to go yesterday 21 May 2025. We arrived around 1600 and once we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly hello and told to choose wherever we wanted to sit. We chose the one high round table to seat two that was against the wall. Even before I sat onto the chair, there was the waitress there to give complimentary chips and salsa and asked if we wanted anything to drink. I had brought my own drink and she asked if I wanted a cup of ice and I said "yes please!" There's no menu, there's a QR code that you scan on your phone Here's what we ordered: Starters: Queso dip & Sautéd Garlic Mushrooms Plantillos: Steak and Shrimp quesadillas (note Upgrade to steak-$2.08 and shrimp $3.12) The portions were so generous and worth the price! The food as freaking amazing and I cannot stop raving about their rice!!! The rice was so damn tasty that my mouth is watering right now while typing this review! We will definitely make this our go-to spot that's somewhat close to home!!! Awesome experience! I don't understand why previous reviews say otherwise! My son and I had a really good experience! Servers were prompt, attentive and super sweet!!!

I'm sure i reviewed this place years ago, but it's asking for me to do it again so I'm for sure giving them 5 stars again! I drive all the way from the Windward side when I want Mexican food because Acapulco is the only spot on island that hits the nail on the head with authenticity. It's hard to get good Mexican food on island so you have to lower your standard, but not here. The enchiladas are bomb, my kids crush them. The burritos are fire, the carne asada is seriously best on island and why we make the drive. The drinks are tough too! Super good margarita, best I've tasted and of course the micheladas are top tier. Lastly, the servers and staff are super friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere, plenty of space (we like sitting outside) and great value, especially when you consider other places are more expensive with low quality ingredients. I'm waiting for my food now after the 25 min drive and I can't wait to get my fix!

Virgin Pina Colada (This hit the spot on this humid and hot day)

I had an appointment in the area so my friend and I decided to stop for lunch. I told her to just pull in and park and then we could decide where to go since there's multiple places in the Waipio Shopping Center complex. We decided to give Acapulco a try. It's not a huge place. Five or six tables inside and four tables outside. We ended up sitting outside. They brought us a basket of chips and salsa. Salsa was tasty. We had to get the menu by scanning the QR Code at the table. It was not difficult to do. The issue was having old eyes reading a menu on a phone -- kind of sucks. But we ordered just fine. It's been so hot and humid. Someone at another table had a strawberry magarita and that looked so refreshing. I ended up ordering a virgin Pina Colada and it was really yummy and so refreshing. My friend had Carne Asada steak that came with rice and beans and she chose flour tortillas. I ordered the Burritto with shredded beef and that too came with the rice and beans. My friend loved what she ordered. The meat was tender and flavorful. She said that she would order it again. My burritto was delicious. The shredded beef was tender and well seasoned. I loved their beans. I liked the chunky texture which is so much better than having it all smushed. The rice was bit underwhelming but that was not the star on my plate. I would definitely order the burritto again. The only thing that was truly disappointing was that we forgot to order the fried ice cream. We remembered on our way home and we both said OMG the fried ice cream lol We'll be back! My friend gave it a 4 and I gave it a 4 so it's a four! Really great lunch!

My hubby wanted to eat Mexican so decided to go go to this Mexican restaurant in Waipio gentry by foodland and bi city diner. I ordered mini cheese quesdillas and my hubby had combo plate burrito with quesdilla. I like my plate I though it was a mini it had 3 cheese quesdillas and I was full. My hubby said he's combo was good too. He ordered all beans skip the rice. Now with technology everything is with scan code maybe restaurants will be doing away with menus. I don't know. The food was good service was pleasant and the place was lit well not dark.

First time eating here and it was a disappointment :( we got there at 11am right when they opened and we didn't know if it was self seating or we had to wait for someone to seat us so we stood there for a few minutes until someone came from the back and told us to sit anywhere (how were we suppose to know?!). They have inside and outside seating. Our waitress wasn't friendly at all and I kind of wanted to leave very soon after we sat. I looked at their menu prior to coming so we knew what we wanted but it took a while to order because she sat behind the bar was on her phone. We ordered the taco salad with chicken, quesadilla with shredded beef, burrito with carnitas, and a horchata. And they give free chips and salsa... the chips were a bit too hard and crunchy for me so I didn't eat too much of it. The only good thing was the quesadilla with shredded beef. The beef was tender and flavorful. The chicken in the taco salad was bland... tasted like boiled chicken. The carnitas in the burrito didn't taste like carnitas at all... in my opinion, it tasted like the chicken. The horchata was okay. Not the best but not terrible. 2 stars because everything was bland and sad, except for the quesadilla.

Good food and drinks. Sit down for a margarita and burrito. The classic Mexican restaurant experience. Okay , maybe it's not like going to Mexico but I loved the taste and feel of this experience. The host/waitress/bartender was perfect. I checked in, help myself to an open table and perused the menu. My margarita and burrito plate arrived quickly. Then we can just settle down and enjoy. The music sets the mood. Quick escape to another place far from the daily monotony.

Walked in for a late lunch on a Wednesday. It's only my second time here, the last time was years ago when they first opened. You need to download their menu using your phone and their QR code. This is slowly becoming another pet peeve. lol They have a variety of the usual Mexican dishes. I ordered the burrito plate and my friend ordered the chimichanga plate. They bring out complimentary chips and salsa. Those were just okay. The chips are pretty hearty and thick and the salsa was kinda bland. Our food came out reasonably quick and my burrito plate tasted good. It came with the refried beans and rice. The server did not check up on us at all and our waters were never refilled. The service could've been better but like other places, I guess they are short handed. The restaurant is kinda small with only around 5 tables inside. They also have seating outside.

One of the best Mexican restaurants on the island. The restaurant is cozy, but sits in a small shopping center. My party was greeted upon entry but service was slow. The quality of the salsa and entrees made up for th slow service. I mean the food was unbelievably fantastic. The enchiladas was amazing. Truly authentic Mexican flavors in every component of this meal. This place will be on my must stop list every time I visit.

Chile Rellenos stuffed with chicken and cheese. Each entree comes with refried beans and rice. Yummers!

Ola! Franito here, and I wanna share with you my latest find of a great Mexican restaurant!!! Located in the Waipio Gentry neighborhood, you can find this little Mexican restaurant in a small strip mall called the Waipio Shopping Center. I came here with my coworkers on a Thursday night, as we had a work meeting/dinner here, and I'm so glad we got to try their delicious food. Acapulco is a very small restaurant with limited seating (they have indoor & outdoor seating), so if you do come here, it's probably best to make a reservation before coming here, and to be sure that all parties are here on time, in order to get a table & be seated. I understand the restaurant's policy on this because the restaurant is pretty busy & popular, and the restaurant space is limited. The menu here is pretty extensive, but I ended ordering (2) Crab Enchiladas, which consisted of flour tortillas with cheese, crab meat, green sauce, & sour cream. My meal was served with beans & rice. We also had a few complimentary baskets of tortilla chips with salsa and shared an appetizer of Taquitos, which was fried corn tortillas with chicken, sour cream, & guacamole. What can I say about the grub? I must say Acapulco serves up generous food portions, so be ready to eat my friends! My crab enchilada was delicious, as it was loaded with crab meat. After downing my crab enchiladas, and eating the beans, I didn't even get to the rice because I was so full. Of course it didn't help that we were snackin' on the tortilla chips & salsa, and eating appetizers before having our dinner. Lol! A very nice neighborhood restaurant, and if I lived closer to the Waipio Gentry area, I could see myself coming here more often.

We were not disappointed, but that is not why I would definitely be back. Let me give a little background. We are only supposed to be there from 5 to 9 at the latest. Initially, it was quiet people were watching TV and there was literal families. They're having dinner. We quietly drank, ordered our food and flipped through the karaoke book for when we were enough intoxicated to start singing. Keep in mind everyone was still eating. My friend, who is a fantastic singer, finally put in a song and out of the corner of the room all we heard was "Oo. Are we singing now?" or something to that effect. After my friend broke the ice and sang the first song it was all singing from that point forward. The songs arranged from country to old 80s love songs to whatever, and they were being sung by people from all over the room. Couple tables turned over while we were there, despite that if a good song came on, people were singing from their seats and it was not an issue to anybody. By the 10 o'clock hour, my friend was singing duets with a guy. She's never met before, but who could sing and the whole bar was just on such a positive vibe. Food was great. The wait help is fantastic. We ended up staying till midnight. Closing the bar down. It was such an intimate and welcoming vibe that we will definitely be visiting again.

I haven't ate a California Burrito since Frida's in 2022, and I gotta say, I also haven't had one with Carne Asada beef and chicken. Out of the many times I've had a California Burrito on this island, this might probably be the best one I've enjoyed so far. For $15, this is truly a nice deal. Just the right amount of fries in ratio to the meats, guac, salsa, onions, and cilantro. Most importantly, did a good job listening to what I wanted in terms of order. I ordered mine without sour cream and cheese, which might have changed the experience a bit differently for me. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. For a place that does Mexican food and is right next to Wendy's, they really did a great job. 10/10 Would recommend, but plan carefully since they only open on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

Nice area where you can wait under the shade with the roosters! Currently they only offer spicy or mild Carne asada burritos & quesadillas. Sorry Fran... no chicken yet, but he plans to expand as his dream is to have a brick and mortar restaurant. Today I bought a mild and a spicy burito. They take cash and card, but his phone overheated and the woman in front of me couldn't get her charge to go through. Luckily, I had my emergency cash on hand. There was no line when I parked, but when I came out,of my appointment, the line was fairly long as a Queen's employee had pre-ordered 12 burritos as a standing Tuesday order. He moves fast and broke down the line quickly. Today he was training a young man to assist him. Another hospital employee said they look out the windows to check how long the line is. I ordered one spicy and one mild burito to try. The person with the mild burito said it was spicy. I sampled a bite and found it had nice heat and flavors. Lol the "S" on the foil wrapper to designate Spicy was mis-labeled! I found the flavors of the burito was very yummy! The mild burito is also tasty, but will order a spicy next time! The burito was one of the best I have had! The burritos traveled back to the office nicely as was still warm! Da Burito Kid is also at Kapolei Regional Park from 11am to 1pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, at Makakilo on Mondays from 4pm to 7pm, on Wednesdays from 4-7pm at Geiger Park. Check his IG @Daburitokid to find him. Support local and help Da Burito Kid get that restaurant and expand! I will be back!

It was so kind of the women working to let me sit into AC car while our food was being prepared, she brought it to me when it was ready. Plenty of parking here, and took less then 10min wait. 10/10 would recommend and I can't wait to come back and try a quesadilla
