We were immediately greeted when we entered by the entire staff. Our server Rebecca was very pleasant, informative and always checked in on us. Took advantage of their lunch hour specials. I did the math, it was about 30% cheaper than the already reasonable regular menu price. Ordered some queso dip with chips, 3 tacos, an enchilada plate that came with rice, beans and a taco. I've been a few times and was disappointed by the service. My fiance also didn't have any good things to say. However, we decided to give it a another chance and went in on a taco Tuesday. They weren't busy so we were seated right away. They have inside, outside and bar seating. Their taco Tuesday special is three tacos for the price of two, so you save about $3 to $4 bucks depending on the protein you order. We ordersed the Carne Asada Fries, Chicken Enchilada and Chile Relleno plate, Fish and Shrimp tacos, and two jarritos. We set our expectations low and were actually surprised because the food was very tasty. The tortillas are corn and tasted fresh, the fish and shrimp were flavorful and juicy. The tacos came with sauce and we enjoyed the Chipotle sauce, it was a nice tangy flavor with a little kick. The cheese in the Chile relleno wasn't as melty as I would want it, but the flavor tasted good. The chicken in the enchiladas were also juicy and tasty! The rice and beans were cooked just right, the rice was fluffy and the beans weren't too mushy. We also enjoyed the carne asada fries, they were crispy and they give a lot of meat and toppings. My search for my favorite Mexican restaurant on Oahu continues, and I really enjoyed my visit today! We started with chips and salsa, which came with traditional red salsa and two additional bottled salsas. My favorite was the orange-colored one, it was so good! For an appetizer, I ordered the taquitos, which came out quickly and were surprisingly filling. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken fajita skillet. It was served with a plate of rice and beans, along with pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole on the side. My friend ordered the two-taco plate with Baja fish tacos, rice, and beans. She thought they were delicious! The tacos were topped with slaw, cabbage, tomatoes, and an avocado salsa. The only thing I didn't quite enjoy was the horchata. After taking a few sips, I asked if I could switch it to a Jamaica drink instead. It was better, but it still didn't quite hit the spot for me. One thing I really appreciated was that we were served water immediately after being seated, in the cutest Corona cups! Another server also stopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch and showed great teamwork. Thank you for the fast and friendly service. We will definitely be back! Absolutely loved our experience here. No wait time got seated right away. Greeted by a friendly server. She mentioned it was her fifth day working there. She did an amazing job. Food was so good. From the rice to refried beans to the lunch special we ordered. Mine was the chili relleno with chicken enchilada, Second plate ordered was also a lunch special was great. Nice size portion for a lunch special. We got full and took home our leftovers for dinner. I like how the cook came out I'm guessing maybe she's an owner to ask how everything was. Pacos is a hidden gem in Kapolei! Located in the same shopping center as the Foodland and Curry House, located next to Gina's you'll find them. I don't know much about Mexican food..so I was honestly amused to see they had a sandwich "torta" on the menu. I had to try it! I got a carne asada torta which came with fries. There was a sauce that came with it..and I have to say it was pretty good! The bred was soft and crispy (outside) at the same time. It was a decent size where I couldn't eat it all. Service was amazing and the staff were very attentive. They have a full bar along with a variety of desserts. I definitely want to check them out for pau hana and for desserts. I really wanted to like this spot, but the whole experience was pretty disappointing. I ordered the steak burrito, and honestly it was tiny--like snack-sized. On top of that, rice and beans aren't included (you have to pay extra), which felt odd for a Mexican restaurant. For what you get, the prices are way too high. The service didn't help either. We were literally the only people in the restaurant, but all the staff were sitting around eating their own meals. Our server dropped off the food and then turned his back to us to eat his meals. When it came time for the bill, he just kept eating at a nearby table while we sat there waiting. Between the slow service, the underwhelming food, and the inflated prices, it just wasn't worth it. Been wanting to try this spot for about a year now and finally today e we did. We ordered two enchiladas, one red and the other green, and kids quesadilla meal for take out. They sent an enchilada meal instead of the quesadilla which wasn't a big deal but the food had no flavor. Upon arrival we were advised we could choose any open seat. There's a bar area, a good handful of indoor & outdoor tables and then a lower bar seating area by the food prep. Drink & food menus delivered promptly as well as glasses of water with a bottle left to refill as needed. Lots of choices for both food and drink. We opted for margaritas & common dishes. Drinks were very weak & small. As we requested blended, they appeared to be more ice than flavor. No hint of alcohol whatsoever. Dish presentations were pleasant. Food wasn't as tasty as most Mexican places I've tried. My shredded beef in my red sauce enchiladas tasted stale in a few bites. Tortillas were tougher than normal. No knife provided to help cut them & it was difficult using the side of my fork. Shrimp fajitas had plenty of veggies, less than normal on shrimps. Beans and rice were decent. Service was friendly but the one thing I despise? Is when they bring you your tab on one of those handheld tablets. All it's showing you is the cost & set to automatically give an 18% gratuity. Finally I tried here for take out. It is in Kapolei shopping center which is by the foodland. I ordered from local by toast. 2 carne asada tacos and burritos and chocolate flan Tacos is only 2 simple tacos is $13. Burritos was ok.$14 Chocolate flan is $10. Tacos is just some bork in corn taco also only 1 slice of corn taco for $13. Over price. Chocolate flan isn't my favorite. Staffs are nice so that's why I gave 3stars. Highly Recommend, Will be back soon and worth fighting for a parking stall or walking a little. I did not know what i wanted to eat as i was so excited. Our first time to Kapolei and we saw this on yelp. The food was Delicioso! Service was great! The world cup was on the TV's so it made it a perfect spot to watch and react to it so the ambiance was great. I had two cheese enchiladas with red sauce. I don't usually write reviews, but my experience at Paco's Tacos was so absurdly frustrating, I feel obligated to warn others. I ordered nachos--simple, right? You'd think. What I received was a sad pile of chips and meat (see photo). No cheese. No sour cream. No guac. No pico de gallo. No salsa. Nothing. Just meat on dry burnt chips. That's not nachos--that's an half of what I paid for. I figured mistakes happen, so I called them, expecting a basic apology and maybe a credit. Instead, I got hit with the most dismissive customer service I've ever encountered. I was told, "You got your nachos, right?" Um, no. I got half of what I paid for. That's like ordering a sandwich and being told the bread counts as a full meal. The worst part? No accountability. No solution. No apology. Just a total lack of care. I remembered when they used to be in Kalihi before relocating to Kapolei. After passing by a few times, we finally decided to give them a try. They're located in the Kapolei Village Center and there's lots of parking. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff was warm and welcoming. They have quite an extensive food and drink menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see nopales on the menu, something you usually only find at truly authentic Mexican spots. One downside: you can't mix and match tacos, which was a bit disappointing since I love sampling different flavors. I ended up ordering three nopales tacos and a surf and turf burrito filled with shrimp and steak. The bf got a grilled fish burrito. We both got chile verde sauce which had small pork pieces in it. Everything we had was really good and fresh. They also had some chipotle sauce that you could add to your dish which was delicious on all the dishes and it wasn't too spicy for me. The outside patio was pleasant although on the noisy because of the road nearby. I ordered two Pork Asada Tacos, they were just okay. They lacked seasoning and in my opinion for Street tacos they were overpriced $13 for two small tacos alacart. I moved here from Southern California so I'm going to be a harsh critic when it comes to good Mexican food. Paco's Tacos is decent but rates pretty high for Mexican food on this island. The owner is Mexican so the food is authentic. This place is just a few minutes from where I live so my boyfriend and I love to go there for some good nostalgic Mexican. I love this place. Conveniently located about 10 minutes from my house, my hubby and I bring our dog here to eat ono food and unwind. The staff is always friendly, the food is plentiful and comforting, fun music, and the drinks are stiff. What more could you ask for in your favorite, neighborhood hang? People on Yelp complain that the food isn't authentic enough but I will take this place over my any pretentious , "authentic" place any day. read more
