Frida's is one of my weekly go-to spots and for good reason. Whether it's the Supreme Nachos, Frida's Fajitas, or the Birria Quesadillas, the food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently good. The owner and staff provide genuine ʻohana-style customer service and always make you feel welcome. You can tell they care about both the food and the people they serve. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the quality is hard to beat. Great food, great service, and great value. And don't leave without trying the fried ice cream. I first had the experience of eating at Frida's in Waipahu with my coworkers. I am so happy that this establishment is so close to home! I love their steak & shrimp quesadilla! It comes with rice and beans and normally I don't eat it but I eat all of Frida's rice and beans because it's that good!!!! My family loves their food too! It's authentic Mexican food and my son will stock up on the Jarritos. Phone and counter service is always an A+ experience! Inside of the restaurant is so aesthetically pleasing to the eyes! Yes! Finally some good Mexican food in Hawaii! I was happy to find this spot in Ewa. I went to their other location in Kalihi and I loved their shrimp burrito. I got it again and it was still delicious. It's a great size burrito and had a lot of shrimp. Plump shrimps and great flavor. Hubby had the fajita burrito and the flavor of the meat is phenomenal. Has some grilled peppers and onions in them and tasted delicious. I love the ambience with the decorated wall here. Will be back again, I've got to try more dishes. Service was excellent, too. It's always hard to find good mexican food on island IMO. (maybe I dont know where to look? ) but Frida's was great. I can't believe I havent tried this before. Good assortment of sauces, friendly servers, the food came out quick, and I was not disappointed. I had the Frida's Fajitas and the Frida's Nachos. The meat was cooked to perfection, the shrimp was large and juicy, and the frijoles and spanish rice were perfect. I also really appreciated the casual atmosphere in the restauraunt that just made the experience nice. 10/10 would go back! read more

Possibly the best Mexican on island. Very authentic and worth a visit. Only thing I didn't love was the tripa (I love tripe but this was a bit boar-ish tasting). Their lengths is incredible though, as is their birria. Friendly fast service with free fresh chips and salsa. Burritos, flautas, and enchiladas are all huge portions. First time at Frida's... Saturday night - Valentine's Day - BYOB and staff took my reservations for a table for 5. When we walked in, we were welcomed with a beautiful restaurant. Love the colorful decor... nice ambiance with traditional music playing too. Soon, we were served water & delicious salsa & chips (so crisp & freshly made). Menu is clear cut... no pics or combos though. Restaurant was well-staffed and attentive. Food was good, and we enjoyed the 3 available sauces - I added the verde & medium level to each bite of my meal. Frida's is now a nice option for us when craving Mexican. Today is Good Friday so no meat for Catholics like me. Put in a Yelp search for a fish burrito in my home area in Ewa Beach/Oceanpointe. Frida's only had fish tacos but they had shrimp burritos. Ordered the shrimp burrito and it was so tasty! Came out quick at about 5-10min. Good balance of ingredients: rice, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, pico, guacamole, and shrimp. I'd like maybe 1-2 more shrimp but almost a piece of shrimp in every bite. The burrito was almost $22 so kind of expensive but worth it. Definitely will be back to try the other food items. Also, nice decor with Frida Kahlo and Dia de los Muertos ladies artwork inside the restaurant. They really put in the effort to make this restaurant not look generic. Overrated reviews. Went based on reviews and very disappointed on the food. Chips were stale and entree Taco Bell level. Hot sauce were decent but that's the best I can say about this joint. I wish reviewers had higher standard but I guess it's difficult to experience authentic Mexican food when Taco Bell is the benchmark. Nice people and no complaints with service. Kinda small place, maybe 6 tables but tight. Portions are small, I had the taco Tuesday pork & steak, tasty but tiny. The wife had the tiny shrimp taco, had to pay extra $10 bucks for small cup of beans & rice. We had to go to Taco Bell to get our fill. Dinner for 2 there was $38, no drinks or dessert. So when Fran C. recommends a Mexican restaurant, believe me I listen. And when he is willing to drive out to Ewa Beach, I'm already salivating. Frida's, named after the Mexican artist I'm guessing due to the restaurant decor, serves familiar items such as tacos, burritos, salads, chimichangas, nachos, and so on. Fran C. had the chicken burrito and I ordered the veggie burrito that came piping hot in all its wrapped glory. Inside, the blend of rice, beans, peppers, onions and spices hit the spot and was even better with Frida's amazing sauces! Definitely a must. Cathy I. ordered the fajitas and wow was that the right move. She had two fully loaded plates (see pics) with the sizzling mix of chorizo, chicken, shrimp and veggies taking center stage. The side of tortilla, guac salad and rice (she won't eat beans!) was the complement to the meal. While all was tasty, she was disappointed that the proteins were slightly over cooked from sitting on the hot plate. The complimentary chips and salsa was gobbled quickly so I ordered fries for the table. A few pieces seemed undercooked, but who can really complain when it's served fresh and hot? I am obsessed with this place!!! If it isn't for their warm, welcoming and loving space, it's the love that clearly packs in all of their dishes! You know a mexican restaurant is good when even their chips and salsa is good! I especially enjoyed the warm welcome I always get here with aunty in the back! I went twice and never got her name! The first time i went (last saturday), i could not wait to come back and try this place again. 3 days later... Anyways, i got the birria quesadilla on Saturday and it was PACKED! The meat was so moist and juicy, but not greasy at all! Probably the most flavorful, more of a buritto like because of it's thickness(not a complaint). I love onions and cilantro, but it was not overpowering at all! You would think "nahhh, they cant fit too much cheese here!" But you are easily mistaken! It was sooo cheesy still and with the flavorful consome... again, not greasy, but tasty. Even down to the rice, packed of flavor! Then today, i tried the fish tacos... as suggested by one of their MANY regulars... the grill/char on the fish added another depth of umami/salty goodness. But everything was sooo light, but again "packs a punch of flavor". This place was just packed of LOVE and flavor! Overall, definitely a small space, with a whole lot of love and flavorful goodness in everything! You are going to want to cool down with some Horchata that taste soo fresh! I could not get enough! I would probably try the Fajitas next. I know for sure... whatever it is, i won't be disappointed! Frida's in Ewa Beach is still my favorite on the West side, now with more reasons! Side story: Calling the restaurant is hit or miss based on past visits. One time, hubby and I really wanted to eat at Frida's, but they weren't picking up their phones (maybe because it was the last hour?), so we drove by to order in person. Keep that in mind if time is limited for you. Anyway, on to the real review... On Mexican Independence Day, I decided to call in an order of a shrimp burrito (one of my usual orders here). I picked up and paid for my burrito. When I arrived home 15 minutes away, I took a bite of the burrito, which was actually a California burrito! I was conflicted because I love California burritos too, so I wasn't too mad, but I did pay for a shrimp burrito. I decided to call Frida's again just to provide feedback on the order mixup. The lady was so apologetic and even invited me to return to the restaurant to pick up another shrimp burrito! She comped the California burrito! This time, the shrimp burrito was labeled! I wanted to make that phone call before posting anything on Yelp. I'm thankful for the free food on top of the already tasty flavors. Mistakes happen and I wanted to tell them of the mixup personally. Good thing I didn't have any dietary restrictions and that I lived 15 minutes away. I'm glad they labeled my corrected order. Frida's Hawaii is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to! It is conveniently located in Ewa which is near home so that's a plus! Staff are so friendly and you're warmly welcomed by the staff when entering. To start, they served complimentary salsa and chips, which was a great start to the meal. For our entree, I ordered their Supreme Burrito ($19.95) and let me tell you, it was massive! Packed with tender steak, succulent shrimp, and bursting with flavor in every bite. I opted to make it a plate for an extra $4, and it was totally worth it. The plate comes with perfectly seasoned homemade rice and flavorful beans that complemented the burrito so well. Also enjoyed their different sauces which was a nice touch to every bite of my burrito. They also sell Mexican soda which doesn't taste any different than American soda but it does give a vibe when eating. They also have an array of desserts to choose from. I was looking on Yelp for some Mexican restaurants, as me likey some Mexican food!!! My love for Mexican food started when I used to work a lot in California back in da 90's & 2000's, and just so happens that one of my good friends is Hispanic, so he turned me onto some of the BESTEST Mexican food in Cali.! This past Friday I met up with my homie - Nate Y. as I had to pick him up from his work place in Halawa, as his new ride broke down. Since we were not too far from Ewa Beach, I told him that I'd take him down for some Mexican for pau hana Friday. Frida's Hawaii was da place of choice, as you can find this little Mexican restaurant in a small strip mall called - Ewa Pointe Marketplace. I never knew about this strip mall, as it was my very first time here. Lots of eatery businesses here, and finding Frida's Hawaii was pretty easy. Lucky we came here early, as it wasn't too crowded when we arrived, but a quick half an hour later, this restaurant was PACKED with folks, and also there were a lot of people going in/out of the restaurant for take out. Upon getting seated, menus, water, and complimentary chips & salsa were delivered to our table very quickly. After looking over the menu, my friend ended up ordering the - "Diego Combo" ($15.95) - I'm not sure if it was some kinda rolled taco, but it contained the following - (1) Green Chicken, & (1) Red Ground Beef topped with Cheese. His plate also came with rice & beans. As for me, I ended up ordering the - Super Burrito ($16.95) - The Super Burrito had rice, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, & you had a choice of meat (I got the shredded chicken). To make it a plate, I added on rice & beans for an additional ($3.50). What can I say about the grubbage? Food was very good, not overly large portions here, but the food was tasty, and the prices here were very reasonable. The service here was friendly, but I think our waitress was overwhelmed because this Mexican restaurant was supah busy! Not once did she come back to check on us, once she delivered our food. It would have been nice to get more water, as both of us had run out, and since she was so busy, I didn't want to flag her down. Overall, a pleasant dining experience! I knew going into this place I was already going to give 5 stars. I've been here before and it is always great Mexican cuisine. The staff was attentive and warm in their greeting and they checked on us regularly. The small container of sauce is Habernero, and if you can't handle spicy then don't try it, but for those that can it has a really nice kick! Everything was home made - I could tell. The sauces didn't taste like they had any preservatives. It was all genuine and fresh. The Chimichanga was cooked with love and perfection. I got the Lengua, which is cow tongue. It's got a slightly different taste than other beef, but it's really good and nice and tender! I was going to take half home for dinner, but I couldn't stop eating it after I mixed in the sour cream and guacamole! They recently had a makeover on the inside as some of the paintings changed, but they used to have a portrait up of Frida herself. They had mariachi's playing over a speaker, and I topped off the food with a nice cold Horchato drank from a mason jar and ended it with some nice Sopapillas, which is fried tortillas with vanilla ice cream and fudge. Frida's Hawaii in Ewa Beach continues to hold our championship belt. The service, flavors, quality, and down-to-earth comfort are the main reasons we keep coming back. Frida's has to be my wife's number 1 craving STILL after so many years. She's been a loyal fan since their Geiger food truck days when the tacos were only $1 on Tuesdays. So happy to see their business grow! We loved them when they were affiliated with the Waipahu location. That's no longer a thing, and I have to be honest, I can tell by the taste of their food. Miguel, Estela, Veronica, and Kimberly work so hard to pump out the endless take out orders while serving the hungry crowd in the dining room. It's a small restaurant, and I am always so amazed at the magnitude of orders that come out of that kitchen! Frida's also has a wide range of customers who dine in, and it seems as though most are regulars. Don't blame anyone for wanting to go back time and time again. The spirit here is very upbeat, lively, and they got a bomb playlist! Everything we want while enjoying a delicious meal. Frida's Hawai'i is in our neighborhood, so we decided to swing by for a quick bite. I ordered one street taco--just one. It was literally two bites and cost $4.00 per taco. Definitely not worth the price; it would be better served as an appetizer plate with four tacos at a more economical price. I was extremely disappointed. Meh..... I'm remorseful as I post this because I always try to support local businesses but I can't lie. So.. for background I've lived in Cali and dated a few Mexican guys in my day. One of which had a mother that could throw down a crazy good meal so I'm no gringo taco eater. Anyway, we ordered 2 California burritos, 1 chicky enchilada plate a Birria taco and a carne asada burrito. All of this came out to $100 and to be honest I think that's still wayyyyyy too over priced for this economy. The carne asada burrito alone was almost $23! The horchata was authentic but it was also diabetes in a cup and no one... not even my son who loves sweet drinks could even stomach it let alone finish the drink. The enchiladas were mid.. rice was bland.. the sauce was WEIRD.. like a pale red almost reminded me of tomato gel because there's was absolutely no flavor to it. We had the Birria tacos that had that orange taco shells from dipping them in the consume but the inside almost had no melty cheese and that too lacked flavor. I swear the Taco Bell Cantina taco almost blew this out of the water. The Cali burritos were also forgettable. Sad sad sad.... We literally had to stop by at Moe's in Pearl Ridge to get more Mexican food to satisfy our craving. Frida's Hawaii is located in Ewa Pointe Marketplace, It's tucked and hidden behind the prominent KFC easily viewed from the street corner and this cute biz has some yummy Mexican food. Walking in is like a fiesta with it's vibrant decor and music I already knew this was the place to take my lunch break. Their menu is just filled with options from the classic taco to the current favorites of many Birria and though that is my favorite as well you gotta give items that's named after the restaurant "Frida's" these tacos came in a set of three and is filled with asada and chorizo mix with pico de gallo and guacamole. No rice and beans just the tacos itself along with some Mexican Apple Soda my palate was doing a happy dance along with their complimentary chips and salsa the flavor explosion is very comforting and satisfying. If you need sauce they do have that as well three types for all heat levels and the little bottle with the red cap was the hottest and it did have that heat maybe not as much for some but I kept away from that as it was fine just as is. I ordered the Super Enchiladas $21.95/4 pcs 2 chicken green and 2 ground beef red, topped with lettuce.. These were all filled with a hearty amount of shredded chicken less so for the beef which was spiced fine but neither exceptional. No salsa guacamole or sour cream which would have been nice. Quesadilla with meat $16.95 Partner ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla from the menu but chicken was not grilled but shredded and had no sour cream or dab of salsa or guacamole which would have been nice. Very chintze if ya ask me! The quesadilla was practically devoid of any substantial amount of meat or flavor and quite pitiful for $17. I recommend to anyone always give places a 2nd try because it can always be better then your first experience. The birria tacos was moist and had great flavor, I even dipped it in consome for more juiciness. The Pork enchiladas was moist and the topping complimented the dish. There's so many eateries on each block on the right side of Fort weaver road, they are located behind kfc, in the middle of a row of stores on the first floor in a 2 story building. There are hardly any Mexican restaurants now, so I book marked here to try when we needed to go Ewa Beach again. Chimichanga - 3.5 stars - for $16.99, the chimichanga was filled with Mexican rice, chorizo and asada. The food was fresh, but it tasted very light in flavor and the chimichanga tasted like it wasn't deep fried, so it was ok, but a bit soft and not crispy. It tasted healthy since not much oil, but it lacked spice or flavor to it. My friend had the ground beef taco for $14.99. He thought it was ok (3 stars) but the rice, beans and taco ground beef were bland, and when I tried it, it lacked flavor. They offered water which tasted chlorinated and only had bottled soda. Due to inflation, total came out to about $43 for 2 of us, plus tip. A bunch of construction workers came in to eat, so must be a popular place for locals working in ewa beach. Although it's healthier, filling and less greasy, it lacked the flavors of Mexican food I'm used to. Bathrooms are located on the second floor of the building. Service - 5 stars - the manager and cashier were very nice, however, when we got our own bottled drinks, the door of the fridge was confusing to open. read more

I've been here with the family a bunch of times. The Ewa Beach location has a lot of parking and the ambiance is great. It's not a overly large restaurant but there are a lot of tables. The service he wonderful has the feel of home cooked. And the food really is. On this particular night I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Portion size is perfect and the sides of beans and rice were delicious. The enchiladas were cooked perfectly and the sauce accentuated the flavor of the chicken.
