I was surprised to see the place pretty empty on a Friday night around 7. I went to the bar to order take out and the guy working was really nice and took my takeout order. I will say it smelled amazing in the restaurant. Food took about 10 mins to come out. The catfish was great, two pretty big pieces very well seasoned. The Mac and Cheese and Yams was also pretty good. I will say the Mac tasted better than it looked and I only say that because at first glance it didn't seem to have much cheese but I was wrong. The corn bread tasted good but was dry. I warmed it and added some butter and that didn't trick. The only thing I personally wasn't a fan of was the greens. They weren't necessarily bad but like Keith Lee says I don't know if I'm their target audience. They tasted a bit sweet and there was something else in the seasoning that I wasn't a huge fan of but couldn't quite put my finger on. I almost forgot the plate came with "yellow seasoned rice" which is under the fish on the Mac side. Honestly it's a free inclusion so not super fair to judge it. Everything in the picture was about $47 bucks. In my opinion that's a bit high and I'm guessing that's because it's in Waikīkī. I definitely plan to go back especially to try the Happy Hour, and I'd like to dine in to see how that goes.

We were right there, so I ordered a Smoked BBQ Rib plate. It came with 2 sides. We chose Baked beans and Green beans with smoked turkey. Service was very friendly and efficient! I believe that they worker said, "I appreciate you!" Wow! That's very nice of him! We took the plate home (it was too windy to sit alongside the busy sidewalk) and discussed the tasty ribs, sweet (molasses?) Baked beans and yummy green beans with smoked turkey. Mmm! I would return and get the catfish plate, Po Boy sandwich, and walking tacos!

I decided on the Nothing Mayjah plate that had teriyaki beef, mac salad, two shrimp tempura, 3 pork hash, and fried noodles which covered the whole bottom of the plate. The actual plate looked very similar to the sample ones they had on a table in front the truck. The teriyaki beef slices had good flavor but were a bit dry as they were cooked ahead of time. The Mac salad had tuna and corn in it which was different. The shrimp tempura didn't seem to have well defined pieces of shrimp inside, more like batter with bits of ground up and reformed shrimp. The pork hash were great with good flavor. The noodles covered the whole bottom of the plate (no rice) and had green onions, char siu, and kamaboko. Unfortunately the noodles were bland and could have used more seasoning. I still enjoyed the plate and you can't beat the amount of food you get for the price. If a few things were improved on they would get 5 stars! I'd be happy to try other plates from them and see if the quality varies.

That's what I do love about this discovery at Makana Mkt at Ka Makana Ali'i where they have it twice a week and this Sunday from 11a-3p I found this cute little card and it was Aloha Poke Bar which is obvious is a mobile cart which is absolutely cute and does exactly that where the menu describes the offerings for the day which was Classic, Tornado and what I got is Volcano their version of the spicy ahi. Bowls come in two sizes and though my thoughts was large though I got the small which is just $13 and all bowls comes with white rice topped with the poke of your choice and it doesn't end there you get unlimited toppings and I believe there was six types to which I got the pickled red onions and crispy onions (I later realized they were both onions lol!) there was also ocean salad, pickled cucumbers, furikake. The gentleman asked if I wanted inamona and spicy sauce...uuuhh yes! Poke is obviously premade and the list of the ingredients are all in as well as my Volcano which I though for me personally wasn't spicy enough was made with mayo, sriracha chili sauce, sesame oil, and green onions and thankfully it didn't have much green onions which I don't like but hey it adds the flavor.
