I prefer a Peet's mocha over Starbucks any day, even though it is a little bit more expensive. This was the first Peet's I have ever been to and it was not the last! It gave me a very positive first impression of Peet's, and I have come back numerous times. Service has always been great and the mochas have always been delicious. This Peet's is also in a great location in Studio City. It is on Ventura Boulevard and in walking distance from several restaurants and other shops. So if you meet a friend here for coffee, there is plenty to do afterward. The only problem I have is that this place closes rather early compared to Starbucks. That just makes it inconvenient if you want to meet up with a friend who has to work late. However, I guess that you should not be drinking coffee at a late hour if you wish to sleep that night, anyway. I really like this Peet's location and I recommend giving it a try. I have been going to Peet's in Studio CIty for 10 years and I have noticed changes throughout the years. Up untill a couple of years ago, Peet's in Studio City was very kick-back. Lately, it has been very crowded there. Numerous times, people have come up to me asking for me to put out my cigarette. I think that is too bad because I used to love to chill with my coffee and cigarettes at Peet's in Studio City. I guess it's tough to smoke in crowded places these days since common strangers come right up to me with disgust asking me to put them out. It is obvious to me that the reviews of this place are biased. There is no way that this place deserves 5 stars. When I walked into this Peet's Coffee, I had to wait quite a long time to get my coffee as there were not enough employees available to meet the demand of the customers. Since I had brought my laptop to do some work, there were only a few places to plug in my laptop along the exterior wall. Unfortunately, there appeared to be many local patrons that hog up the space by reading a newspaper and not purchasing anything. I would definitely not want to return back here. read more

Listen up crazed coffee junkies! After endless overpriced and bland cups of Starbucks coffee, I was elated to discover Peet's Coffee in the Valley. My very first encounter with the stun-your-growth full bodied cup of Peet's was on a foot-powered hike through the streets of San Francisco a few years back. Well, I was really lost but I did managed to step into Peet's and realized that coffee doesn't have to be totally manufactured by Starbucks. Running low on gas, I ordered a cup of regular coffee. The intensity of the flavor nearly jolted me out of my seat. I was amazed how bold and favorful the coffee was. It was a superb cup of joe! Slowly Peet's made its' way to SoCal and the coffee-loving masses rejoiced. Finally there is a choice! Peet's never failed to amaze me. Their coffee is always freshly brewed every 30 minutes and the flavor is very consistent (knock-you-on-your-butt strong). Their cold drinks and lattes are equally good. The baristas are no-nonsense employees. They know their coffee drinks and do their best to accommodate whatever their highly caffeinated patrons desire. They're also very knowledgable about the coffee beans and tea they sell. BTW, the coffee beans are of high quality and you can taste it when you brew at home. My only gripe with Peet's is that they close too early. So if you need a little pep in your stride, go to Peet's and skip the rest. read more

Interesting contrast between this Peet's and the Starbucks half a block away. Starbucks: A gathering place for wannabe writers of all ages and 20-something-year-old students. Peet's: Skews toward the 40 and 50-something crowd. Many of these people have the "I'm a producer" look. Starbucks: You might hear indie folk music over the sound system or you might hear Sinatra. Peet's: Classical music all the time. Starbucks: Not unusual to have to wait a bit for inside seating. Peet's: Tons of inside seating (a major plus in my book). You may have to sit at a high "bar-like" table, but even when the place is packed, there's always at least one seat available. I've just started frequenting this Peet's lately, and only because I can always find a seat inside and I get a little annoyed having to play the "snag a seat" game at Starbucks. The one downside to Peet's is that it's the only coffee house I know of that charges a dollar for a coffee refill. read more

Peet's has the BEST coffee and espresso drinks. I've been going to this location for years, and the people are extremely nice as well. Gets a little messy during "rush hour" but, other than that, an overall relaxing place. The best thing I've had here so far- chocolate coconut blended fredo. Amazing. I come here pretty often, as I'm notorious for telling people how much I love the coffee. I'm usually just a dark/bold regular coffee kind of guy, but even the lattes here are better than most I've tasted. It's got a nice set-up inside, with various areas to do a little work on your laptop or for socializing - my personal favorite are the stools near the window so you can watch the people walk by over the screen on my Mac :o) Staff is *always* friendly. Celebs pop in once in a while, too, if you're into that. They close kind of early though, if you're looking to get a caffeine fix at night. I hadn't been to this Peet's Coffee & Tea in about a year due to a hectic schedule. Today, while running errands nearby I stopped in for a quick snack. The hibiscus berry herbal iced tea was delicious. Naturally sweet - no sugar added. The lentil salad in a take-out container was flavorful, even though I noticed the "enjoy by" date was yesterday. It had feta cheese with chopped onions and slivered carrots in a light vinaigrette dressing. I would order it again. Free underground parking during a hot day is always appreciated. Their customer service is as perfect as a sharp left bank when dodging a enemy fighter. The accuracy is on taking my order 100% like that of shooting a can from a 1,000 yd away on a jet fighter. Coffee is good, but despite giving them several chances (like way too many), there are a couple employees (one in particular who is there too often) who is consistently rude, abrasive, and never once has just given coffee and said thank you. Always a snarky comment, demanding attitude, and even insulting despite me always being very pleasant. What can I say? It's a Petes! After years of living out of CA I'm just so glad to live in range of one again! For brewed coffee, they can't be beat; and they do a lot more Starbucksy espresso drinks nowadays too if that's your thing. Their beans are top notch for home brewing; but a little pricy for a daily pot. They have a lot on the side which is free for a short time. This is a go-to spot for great coffee. My favorite, Columbia Luminosa. Jason is the manager. He's friendly, uber-informative, and he always calls me by name. Peet's still has a chill coffee-house vibe, unlike Starbucks, which now seems like any fast-food spot. I reserve the fifth star: There are many sharp, courteous staff members at this location - particularly the female baristas, who are just excellent - but the customer-service manual clearly hasn't been read by everyone. i came in to Peet's coffee at 7:29 pm and they still helped me out. I don't know much about coffee but the young gentleman taught me everything he knew. I asked if they still served breakfast at that time and they exclaimed that they do! i was shocked and really excited. They made my meal in less then a minute. I noticed they don't microwave the breakfast sandwiches like some places. They pulled out the pan and cooked the egg and bacon in front of me. WOW! Very satisfied. My girlfriend loves this place! I love Peet's Coffee! I usually don't review chains but The quality is really good when it comes to their coffee. From their regular cups of coffee to their specialty drinks, they are well made and taste great! I would take Peet's coffee over Starbucks any day. The customer service is great at this location as well. Always friendly and welcoming. I just wish there was a few more locations in the San Fernando Valley. Clean, smells nice when you walk in, and always greeted with a smile from one of the many baristas. Whether you want to chat with an old friend, read a book, or get some work done on your dissertation, this Peet's is a great place to hang out. I do wish the furniture were better arranged, but the setup of where the coffee is prepared and the condiment bar do prevent that. Just the way the space is might be a permanent problem.
