A Perfect Pit Stop On a nice weekend day, we sometimes take a trip to Petaluma to change the scenery and visit one of the breweries in the area. On the way back, we stop by this Pete's Coffee location for a shot of espresso or other coffee drinks. The coffee shop is conveniently located in the Washington Square shopping center. It is a relatively large coffee shop with plenty of tables inside. The service has always been good when we visited and the drinks are always delivered the way we ask. If they aren't, they are very quick to make the necessary adjustments. It is a good place to sit and relax while sipping on a cup of coffee and getting ready for the drive back to San Francisco. The ambiance is cozy, and the staff are friendly, making it a perfect stop to end your day trip on a high note. I've been to Peet's Coffee in Santa Rosa and Cotati many times, and I absolutely love their Matcha Green Tea Latte with oat milk . it's always a treat! The Petaluma location made it perfectly, just the way I like it: smooth, flavorful, and not too sweet. I also really enjoy their egg and cheese sandwiches so good for breakfast and a great way to start the day. The service is consistently friendly, and the environment is cozy and welcoming. I wouldn't say it's an ideal place to study with a laptop because there's only two (2) power outlets--one (1) by the high tables and one (1) by the settees. This Peet's location has excellent customer service and the employees are all fantastic! The beverages and pastry items are delecious. The major drawback with this location is the number of animals in the returaunt. Despite a sign on the door stating no pets allowed, people continuously were bringing their dogs into the cafe and letting them lick crumbs from the floor and even feeding them bites of their pastry. One customer even brought a bird into the cafe, granted it was in a carrier but really. I sat there trying to figure out if I was in a coffee shop or a zoo. It was bad enough I witnessed a group come in a begin moving tables and chairs and blocking walking aisles, but to add a petting zoo as well is a little ridiculous. I am surprised that Peet's allows individuals to come in and move furniture around without even putting it back. read more

I usually don't go to Pete's because their coffee is really strong and I have a very weak stomach. Lol but someone gave me a gift card so I had to go check it out. I was able to get there, Yosemite coffee and a half pound form and I'm going to brew it at a lighter Amount so it won't upset my stomach. I found out when you buy coffee, you also get to try a half cup of coffee that they're brewing and I tried The Big Bang! That coffee was particularly dark. Roasted and I literally doubled it over in water and added two packs of raw brown sugar. It was still kind of bold for my liking, but did have a good flavor. Plus, the coffee had sugar in it, so I don't know the full flavor, but it was very dark roast for me. This particular Pete's location was on the corner and they have a really big lobby/seating area! I also like their display of all the espresso beans in vaults that are organized by category. I am a fan of Organic thing, so I'm really happy that they actually have organic coffee as well as farm produced , since the Yosemite coffee was a lighter blend and the barista at the counter said it was his favorite. I figured I would try that coffee and it smells simply marvelous! I still brewed that coffee on a lighter/weak tablespoon for the 12 ounce cup, but I was happy with my purchase. Hee. read more

I have been drinking more Peet's as of late at a friend's home. I needed coffee today after my swim. Well let me tell you! I had one of the Best Experiences in at a coffee counter ever. My Barrista asked all the right questions, offered suggestions when I was hesitant, was professional and engaging. I went with the tweeks of her suggestions and I am so glad I did. I bought both ground coffee and a takeaway latte. Clean bright shop. I'll be back. read more

May 2nd, 1:50 PM, first time in this location. I request a small breve latte. The girl says, "So, you want light milk?" "What?", I said. She repeats, "You want light milk?" I said, "I'm sorry, I have never heard the words "light milk" before and a breve latte is made with 1/2 and 1/2; I don't know what you are asking me." I get that ironed out. Then I ask, "May I please have the cup just 2/3 full?" It took her actually putting her finger at the 2/3rds mark and my agreeing, "Yes, please fill the cup to the place your finger is pointing." She ends up making and giving me the latte. I go to put sugar in the cup and the cup in filled 3/4ths of the way, not even where she had moments ago put her finger to demonstrate she knew where 2/3rds was. So, here I am a Peet's Coffee devote since around 2000, NEVER in 25 years has someone said, "So, you want light milk?" WHAT? Nor, has an employee ever copped an attitude with me and making a way too big deal about "Light Milk", even after I apologized for my brain not computing those words. Then, as a disrespectful, passive/aggressive, antagonistic and hateful act ... the little bitch fills the cup 3/4ths full, instead of the agreed upon 2/3rds full. This is a person looking for a fight. Stirring up chaos in the conversation from the get-go. It took work to be with this woman, there was zero way I was going to continue to play into her drama by asking for the drink to be made. I decided to make a Yelp post and I will be calling the corporate office tomorrow. Peet's ... is this really how you want your staff to be "serving" your customers? I really do like this Peet's location. On Saturday morning it's very social with people visiting drinking their coffee so the ambience is nice. I was greeted very nicely when I walked in my chai tea was delicious. But ....... it's so sad everything is so expensive. My small chai tea was $5.40 (full disclosure I changed my milk to half-and-half which up the price) Also, when I was there, I noticed other people had brought food in from other places to have with their coffee. First time trying the bakery in Peet's. The service was great and fast! Ordered cranberry creamy scone, it is very soft and heated to perfect temperature. A little bit less sugar will be great . So does the sugar free vanilla latte. My bad, should have ordered less shot of sugar free vanilla for my latte. Chicken Chorizo Flatbread was the best! We ordered 2 for the boys . Lol! Vincent!!! This one is for you!! My Mom adores this Peet's (as well as the Starbucks on Lakeville, so I'm privy to lots of stories she has about her travels to and from these coffee shops lol) This is looooooong overdue, but about two months ago (?) we came in and there was a very confused, but gentle, mentally disabled older fellow who was pretty disheveled and definitely stood out amongst the other patrons--the contrast was pretty stark. The fellow wasn't screaming and yelling, but he was doing abnormal sorts of things inside and there was a family of about 4 little girls and a mom who were in the shop at the same time, and visibly the mom looked a little wary. Vincent!! Like a champ!! Like he was born to do it!! Very expertly kept his eye on the fellow as he continued to be warm and pleasant with customers, and then when the opportunity struck, he carefully and gently followed the gentleman around and asked if he needed anything. Long story short, I'm a mental health professional and this citizen's example was...well...exemplary!! Absolutely 100%, the confused fellow left with his dignity, he found the door and quietly left. Thanks to Vincent. I am SO SORRY this is so late, but honestly I was so impressed that not only was my coffee absolutely perfect, I walked away with a better feeling about mankind. I have been to many a Peet's and this one is just okay. Service was a little slow, which is fine as long as the drinks are good. However, they added way too much milk to my small latte (I had a thermos). So it tasted more like flavoured milk then coffee. Everything else about this place was okay. read more

I am a Peet's lover- so I try to find Peet's Coffee no matter which city I am in. Today-- just now I got a worst service in Peet's in my own town. I was in line to order. I was the next in line. The register person saw me - and then when the next person was called on next register- then she said "sorry I am closed." She knew I was standing right in front of me. She did not tell me that she is closing register. She could say- oh this customer is next! But she did not. She just walk away. I notice that there more young people working at Peet's here- I think those people should learn service from Peet's in other cities. read more

Relaxing atmosphere. Drinks taste very good. I like the facts that their sweet drinks are not overly sweet. They pay attention to details in making the drinks. Service is always courteous. The baristas work a tad slower than my expectation though. My go to drink is their Havana latte (or Havana iced coffee). Have not tried their food. read more

Worst Peet's coffee ever. My husband ordered a Iced Mocha and I ordered a White Chocolate Latte. The iced Mocha was so bad that it went in the trash as we walked out. The Latte was just okay. This location is dirty, the employees are lifeless and extremely slow with hardly any customers. read more

Understand, this is a first world problem. Coffee is really not that important, but man, today ... ugh. First I bring my own cup so I can make a tiny effort to reduce waste. Second, mostly for health reasons I get almond milk. Lastly it's the flu season. Today in this store I watched my drink being made with milk, in a store cup (the barista was alerted to her mistake and promptly threw the cup away), and as the barista stirred and removed foam from my drink (original order was flat) they wiped their nose with the hand that held the spoon that was in my drink. Pressed for time, I took the drink and dumped it outside. I made coffee at work and life is good, but come on Peet's the drinks are expensive and you know, with a bit more training ... ugh. read more

Another day, another town, another Peet's. What can I say? I love Peet's coffee. On the way to a volunteering gig for Yelp Helps, I stopped in for my usual Red eye. This Peet's location has plenty of nearby parking & is pretty big inside. It was also a bit busy on a Saturday morning. Service wasn't the fastest, but the entire staff was friendly & welcoming. Even the manager was taking time to greet patrons & help out on drink orders. I got my Red eye & it was good to go. I stopped in about 3:20 PM just wanting a medium coffee. I normally mobile order from Starbucks but I was in a hurry to get back home to a sick baby daughter and her sick mother and I had their lunch in the car. I suppose it was because I ordered a medium roast that I was told it would be a few minutes. I sat and waited over 30 minutes. Perhaps I should have said something MUCH sooner but I just didn't want to be THAT customer and I'm not a barista so maybe it does take that long for all I know. A barista then asked if I was waiting for something and I said "a medium coffee". When she went to start pouring a coffee I'd had it. An understandably angry mother had called me wondering where I was that instant so I had to leave without the coffee. I will never be back inside a Peet's again, even if they do offer mobile ordering. Infuriating. read more

This is s great Peet's. It would be a 5 Star if they had outlets outside for lounging while drinking their awesome coffees and specialty drinks. I cant go into many places because I have my dog with me, especially in the summer and I live a great outdoor chair, a Peet's Coffee, a ham and cheese bagel, and a computer plug. My mom and I stopped in to grab a gift card and two coffees, it was pretty dead, just one other person in line. There was a girl with faded orange hair that took our order, she was already giving us a little bit of attitude right off the bat when we asked about a gift card, didn't think much of it until she got even more rude throughout ringing us up. We also ordered a scone to go with our coffee. There was a few pastries on display, and an open case that we thought were just for DISPLAY, considering there were flies walking on the food. Unfortunately no, these were the food items they were selling customers! After she bagged up the scone and we realized it was not a fresh one we politely asked either for a fresh one or for a refund and she automatically snapped back with "well that's our last one" ... OK that's fine, but why are you giving your customers attitude when you clearly see flies on the food that you willingly packaged up and sold. The shift manager came over to give us our refund and also saw the flies landing all over the food and simply did not even acknowledge it or act like it was a big deal just handed us our money without any apologies from either one of these women. Terrible customer service and awful standards with cleanliness. Do you not eat the food here! So unsanitary. Not to mention really really poor customer service all around. I have been served some subpar coffee drinks in the last 25 years but this one merits a review. Sunday 9/3, 5:30pm. A van with 5 adults returning from a long drive, all wanting an afternoon coffee or tea and specifically skipping closer Starbucks' for a Peet's. My wife goes in to order me a cappuccino while I repack the trunk, I walk in, go straight to the counter and as I get there the "thinks-he-is-a-barista" pours the espresso in the cup and, as I am watching him, basically dumps in milk and foam from the pitcher till the cup is full. What happened to proportions of coffee, milk and spooning the foam in? I grab it and walk to the sugar/cocoa area hoping it won't be as bad as expected and all I have is espresso with soap suds & air bubbles. After telling my wife not to tip this guy ($4+ for a small cappuccino deserves an extra 5 seconds of care) I walk outside and tell my friend about what a sloppy and lazy employee this Peet's has, a guy sitting nearby says: "You too? I just paid nearly $7 for this ice coffee drink and it's all air!". I hope this store manager either retrains this employee or gets rid of him as I am certain he has done this many times and will continue. His entire being said "I don't give a crap". You can do better, Mr Peet! Peet's still stands out for me and many of us who drive out of our way to avoid Starbucks, don't let people like him drop you to that level. read more

The East Side Peet's is the superior Petaluma Peet's. My opinion is based on four things: no tourists, good Peetniks, easy parking, big inside. The Peetniks are pleasant and properly trained, and they don't let a line build up while chatting, don't let the milk run out, and know where the extra blue straws are. They move quickly and present properly-made drinks. What, after all, are you there for, if not a properly-made drink? TIP: It's in the big Safeway shopping place at the intersection of S. McDowell and E. Washington. Go for the entrance that's right before the gas station on E. Washington (headed toward the hills) so you don't have to drive around looking for it. read more

Love this particular Peet's store. It's a nice big store with lots of seating, not to smooshed together. Plenty of space to sit and chat with friends, or get some work done if that's your thing. There is a very pleasant environment here with friendly and engaging staff/ They have so many selections of excellent teas and of course consistently smooth and fresh coffee. I also love the new food choices that Peet's now offers lots of healthy options. If your a visitor to Petaluma, this would be a great place to start your day and plan your tour of the town. read more

I live in a state where Peet's coffee just does not exist so when I have the chance to buy it or walk into a shop, you better believe I do it 1000 times over! Peets coffee is delicious, smooth and just incredibly easy to drink! This location was no different than than the others... employees were friendly and helpful even when I was having a high maintenance moment. The baked items are, especially the scones are worth every calorie..wait, maybe Peet's figured out the secret to make them calorie free?! Since I reviewed a "competitor" yesterday, I would be remiss not to comment about Peet's in Petaluma (on McDowell). This is my go-to spot for coffee and tea. They have the best quality prducts, especially the selection of teas. Their baked goods are plentiful and interesting. They were first to offer healthy midday meal choices and prompted their competitor to get with the game. Great layout as is the norm for Peet's. Nice area for seating. This is my go-to Peet's store, not only because it's conveniently located in a shopping center, but the staff are always so friendly. This store is clean and I always see employees cleaning tables, floors, and restocking milk, straws, sleeves, etc. I love that this location is relatively spacious with many tables to sit. I have been here to just sit and relax, and also to get some work done. They have free wifi, which is typical of most Peet's locations. A pro for this location is that there are always plenty of parking spaces, which is a nice perk. However, I think what makes this location superior to others in the area is their staff. The employees are always so friendly and helpful. They always apologize if there is any delay in making your drinks. One time they dropped one of my pastries on the ground, and since it was the last one, they gave me a free item coupon, which was nice of them to do. Overall, I really love this Peet's location! It's way more convenient than the downtown location and the staff is always pleasant. And I highly prefer Peet's to Starbucks any day! read more

I go every day, religiously. I have mornings that arrive at 6:15am and other mornings I don't get there until 9, and I am always welcomed with a smile! The crew here is so wonderful to start your day off! Furthermore, you can't go wrong with Peet's coffee. I highly recommend this place to start your day off right.
