I originally went out looking for a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich and Googled "good breakfast…read morenear me." This spot came up, and although my wife and I have driven past it many times, we've never stopped in. Today, I decided to finally give it a try. After looking through the Google photos, I changed my mind and ordered a breakfast plate instead of a sandwich. Parking was a little challenging. I arrived around 11:00 a.m. and had to circle the block a few times before finding a spot directly in front of the diner. When I walked in, I wasn't sure whether I should seat myself or wait to be seated. All of the waitresses appeared busy, so I stood near the entrance. Once she was available, Marianna greeted me. Initially, I wasn't a fan of being asked whether I was picking up food rather than whether I was dining in or taking out, but I quickly realized they may be accustomed to regular customers who already know the process. Since it was my first visit, I explained that I wasn't sure if I should seat myself. Personally, I think a sign near the entrance would be helpful for first-time guests. Since I was dining alone, I chose a seat at the counter and ordered the Sugar Plum Special with cheese grits and sourdough toast. While waiting for my food, I noticed something that concerned me. The staff did not appear to be wearing gloves, and I observed food being handled after touching various surfaces, including condiments, plates, glasses, and trash areas. While I understand that food service relies heavily on proper handwashing practices, I personally felt uncomfortable watching bread being handled directly by hand. I requested that my toast be handled with a utensil instead, and my request was accommodated without issue. When my food arrived, my eggs were cooked exactly as requested--scrambled hard--and the bacon was perfectly crispy. The bacon was a little saltier than I personally prefer, but that's more about my taste than the preparation. Overall, both items were flavorful. Now, let's talk about the grits. I come from a strong Southern background, and we take our grits seriously. The presentation was fantastic. The butter melting on top and the cheese looked absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the texture wasn't there on the first serving. The grits were noticeably gritty and undercooked. After a couple of bites, I sent them back and requested they be cooked a bit longer. One of the waitresses explained that customers typically need to request the grits "well done." That was surprising to me because I've always believed grits should naturally be cooked until smooth and creamy. In my opinion, that's how they're meant to be served. Thankfully, the second batch was much better. While they still could have been stirred a bit more, the texture improved significantly and was much closer to what I expected. I also want to recognize Marianna for her excellent service. She was accommodating, attentive, and handled my concerns professionally throughout the meal. Overall, I would return. The restaurant has a warm, family-oriented atmosphere and an old-school diner feel that is becoming harder to find these days. It reminded me of the kind of place you'd visit after church on a Sunday morning or somewhere you'd go with your grandparents for a comforting home-cooked meal. While there were a few areas that could be improved, the welcoming environment and friendly service left a positive impression on me.

Overall, the cream puff was tasty, but I probably wouldn't buy it later in the day again. Like all Peet's, workers come and go. Managers come and go. There have been excellent workers and managers to come through this particular Peet's. The current crew is serviceable. The constant at this Peet's is the hobos lurking around and the strange people who demand a cup of water, plug their phones into an outlet, and use up the few spaces inside the store for hours at a time. I once saw an older gentleman who brought in a Starbucks cup to help himself to the half-and-half. Everybody has a hustle, I suppose. Mine is limited to waiting for the Costo 5-pack Peet's cards to go down from $79.99 to $75.00. Why poo-poo someone's hustle, you say. If a dude comes in and towels off his tumbler and tells the Peet's worker that he's going to pay the refill price for his coffee, not our business, right? Or the hobos that shoplift the hats and shirts, they need to cover their naked bodies like everyone else, too. Well...it's just seems that there is so much of it at Peet's, and not just at this location, and it makes me feel that the cost regular patrons are paying is subsidizing the cheapness and abnormal retail behavior. So, Peet's, maybe set up some rules. Have polite signs. Tell your workers to politely remind people of the rules. No need to berate people in real need, but maybe shame just a few of the others who might look like they can pay and can pay their fair share. Just saying. read more

Worst customer service ever. As a paying customer I expect to be able to use restroom. I was told I could not use restroom an hour before closing because they already had cleaned them and they where not going to open door because they didn't want to clean it again. Spoke to manager who said same thing both management and employee where upset I even asked to use restroom and displayed the most horrible attitude which included rolling of eyes raising of voice and hostile tones. If I could give a 0 star I would. Manager rather refund me my order so that, she would not have to let me use restroom. Big woow. Will definitely boycott. People like me give you your paycheck and apparently customer service is not a concept understood by this location. Not to mention that law requires such facilities to be made available in establishments who's capacity is 20 or more. Will definitely advise do not go to this location. Expect to be treated with indifference, hostility, impatience, and rudeness. read more

According to the app and the sign on the door, hours on Saturday are supposed to be from 6am to 5:45pm but when I showed up at 6:30 they weren't open and the person at the counter just shook her head. The staff here consistently have the worst attitudes. If you have a mobile order they roll their eyes an: act like you've burdened them by asking for the things you purchased. Seriously, if you hate customers shouldn't you like mobile orders? You don't even have to talk to me you just set my stuff on the counter and we're good to go. I must say, Peet's consistently brews the best coffee, and this location is no exception. However, there's one aspect that perplexes me: the lack of attention to cleanliness. During my visit, I couldn't help but notice a neighboring table with a spilled coffee that remained unattended for the entire hour I was there. Additionally, the interior had a rather intense aroma, which, I'm not sure what caused it, but it seemed as if no one from the staff took notice. Despite these concerns, the coffee quality remains outstanding. It's just that the atmosphere at this particular location leaves room for improvement. read more

I like Peets coffee, but the service at this location seems lackluster and slow. This was my first time visiting them again since the ownership change so it's been a minute. What I see here now is just depressing, not just because the place was empty, but it's now devoid of anything that felt like a spot someone would want to hangout at. No music, when I got in there was one person waiting for their food and nobody was even at the front counter for minutes before somebody finally came out from the back. Ordering is just through the kiosk now, which isn't a bad thing. The part that was really rough was the reason why I even came here; the boba. I got a regular milk tea which now they only have a single size. I miss the extra large size they used to have, but oh well. The next issue comes with how much the boba actually costs. They may have gotten rid of the extra large cup sizes, but they're still charging the almost the same amount for it in a much smaller cup. What a deal, right? And we get to the actual drink. When the person making the drink after receiving your order finishes within a minute of making it, it's never a good sign. Why is that? Well, they had premade jug of milk tea ready to pour out for your tasting pleasure. When you have a premade jug of milk tea, it's never a good sign. While I've had them at other places that have done this before, and it's ranged from bad to mediocre, the one here at Milk Tea Lab, now, was in a word, rancid. It was incredibly gross with absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I generally try not to be so harsh, but this was really not it and I couldn't even finish the boba because of how bad the milk tea was. It's sad to see how big of a dropoff this spot has become compared to what it used to be. This isn't like when they first opened where there were only 2-3 boba spots right next to them. Now there's at least a handful of options within a few minutes away, and dozens of spots within a mile or two, and this is what they're pushing out? It's a shame but this Milk Tea Lab which was their starter store is no longer a place I would ever go back to for boba. It's time is now past with this new ownership.
