I ordered the Caramel Brûlée Coffee with boba, which cost a little over $9. Unfortunately, it tasted like watered-down coffee with an overwhelming amount of sugar and very little caramel flavor. Since I genuinely didn't enjoy it, I politely asked if they could remake it or let me exchange it for a different drink. Instead, I was told that if I wanted something else, I would have to purchase another drink. The only solution offered was $1 off a second drink, which was disappointing considering I had only taken one sip. At that point, I already knew the drink wasn't for me. As a customer, I wasn't expecting a refund. I simply hoped they would stand behind their product and provide good customer service. What disappointed me the most wasn't just the drink it was how the situation was handled. A small gesture, such as remaking the drink or allowing an exchange, could have turned a negative experience into a positive one and earned a loyal returning customer. Instead, I left feeling that customer satisfaction wasn't a priority. Sadly, because of this experience, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this place to my friends, family, or clients. read more

I used to go to teaspoon often but over the years the quality has gone downhill. The silky mango was overwhelmingly sweet, the texture was thick like syrup with a strong syrup sweetness. I could not adjust the sweetness. The assam milk tea was ok and overall subpar. With the number of other boba options, I recommend trying elsewhere. read more

I tried their Matcha Royale with boba, and it looked great with a vibrant green color from the matcha. The drink was perfectly creamy while still able to convey a matcha flavor. I personally found their "regular sweet" level a bit too sweet for my taste, but my brother liked it. And that's something I can easily adjust next time. The boba was well-prepared - soft with a nice chew and a subtle sweetness of its own. The only downside was the store, particularly the lack of air conditioning on a hot summer day, which made the in-store experience less comfortable. read more

We stopped by to pick up some boba while we were in the area. We were able to find street parking and walk over easily on a Sunday. Our drinks were made quickly. My only complaint is that the cups weren't quite full/filled all the way. Aesthetically and visually it just bothered me a bit because they're usually always filled to the top even if it's just with ice especially when a boba drink costs $7 now. If you're gonna fill my cup like this, I'd expect something like 10-15% off because it looks like I'm getting 10-15% less drink. read more

I have been a loyal fan ever since they opened up at this location. I am extremely impressed with the customer service as well as the quality of the beverages they offer. The price is pretty comparable to other milk, tea places however, this place offer more than just milk teas. They offer dessert drinks. They will never lose my business here. First time here. Unfortunately I got regular milk and I ordered OAT MILK which I paid for the upgrade for the matcha drink. I didn't realize until after I was long gone. Glad I took a pic before I left. I happened to look back at the pic and it does look different, a lot more white like milk. I had already shook the drink before I drank it but when I did drink it I noticed it was heavy and "thicker" than oat milk. After having dinner nearby on 03/23/2023, I came here with my friends Sarah and David to continue our evening. It was quiet when we walked in at 7 pm. We were greeted by the staff immediately. The interior was clean and bright. They appeared to be a grab-and-go spot, and there was no seating inside or outside the establishment. Their menu featured 20+ drinks or so. I ordered Black Sugar Assam ($5.75), while Sarah and David got the Strawberry Colada ($6.25) and Creamy Jasmine ($5.75). The cashier was very helpful. He was able to customize my drink with less sugar. The drinks were visually pleasing. My Black Sugar Assam was pretty good. Decent tea taste and the boba pearls were chewy. My friends liked their drinks as well. It's probably good that I am over 50. Otherwise, I would be here at least a few times a week! read more

I tried Teaspoon after a baby shower with my fiance. Unfortunately there was only one worker making all the orders by himself. Despite that fact we still decided to place an order. We made our way to the iPad to electronically make our order. Fortunately there was another worker who came out to help, so it took less time than we had expected. I ordered a classic boba milk tea, while my fiance ordered a Thai tea. This place seems to make their drinks with more of a "tea" flavor if that makes sense. That is how I typically like to enjoy my drinks. If you like your boba drinks more sweet, this may not be the place for you. Overall I enjoyed it! read more

I rarely ever write Yelp reviews but this customer experience made my day. The cashier was extremely welcoming and accommodating. I was warmly greeted when I entered the establishment. I had accidentally submitted an order for a drink twice through the mobile app, thus I was charged twice even though I had initially just wanted to order one drink the Paradise Lime. After explaining my issue the cashier was kindly able to resolve things by replacing my second accidental drink with a different drink she recommended (was the same price as the Paradise Lime I had ordered). After looking through the Google photos, I changed my mind and ordered a breakfast plate instead of a sandwich. Parking was a little challenging. I arrived around 11:00 a.m. and had to circle the block a few times before finding a spot directly in front of the diner. When I walked in, I wasn't sure whether I should seat myself or wait to be seated. All of the waitresses appeared busy, so I stood near the entrance. Once she was available, Marianna greeted me. Initially, I wasn't a fan of being asked whether I was picking up food rather than whether I was dining in or taking out, but I quickly realized they may be accustomed to regular customers who already know the process. Since it was my first visit, I explained that I wasn't sure if I should seat myself. Personally, I think a sign near the entrance would be helpful for first-time guests. Since I was dining alone, I chose a seat at the counter and ordered the Sugar Plum Special with cheese grits and sourdough toast. While waiting for my food, I noticed something that concerned me. The staff did not appear to be wearing gloves, and I observed food being handled after touching various surfaces, including condiments, plates, glasses, and trash areas. While I understand that food service relies heavily on proper handwashing practices, I personally felt uncomfortable watching bread being handled directly by hand. I requested that my toast be handled with a utensil instead, and my request was accommodated without issue. When my food arrived, my eggs were cooked exactly as requested--scrambled hard--and the bacon was perfectly crispy. The bacon was a little saltier than I personally prefer, but that's more about my taste than the preparation. Overall, both items were flavorful. Now, let's talk about the grits. I come from a strong Southern background, and we take our grits seriously. The presentation was fantastic. The butter melting on top and the cheese looked absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the texture wasn't there on the first serving. The grits were noticeably gritty and undercooked. After a couple of bites, I sent them back and requested they be cooked a bit longer. One of the waitresses explained that customers typically need to request the grits "well done." That was surprising to me because I've always believed grits should naturally be cooked until smooth and creamy. In my opinion, that's how they're meant to be served. Thankfully, the second batch was much better. While they still could have been stirred a bit more, the texture improved significantly and was much closer to what I expected. I also want to recognize Marianna for her excellent service. She was accommodating, attentive, and handled my concerns professionally throughout the meal. Overall, I would return. The restaurant has a warm, family-oriented atmosphere and an old-school diner feel that is becoming harder to find these days. It reminded me of the kind of place you'd visit after church on a Sunday morning or somewhere you'd go with your grandparents for a comforting home-cooked meal. While there were a few areas that could be improved, the welcoming environment and friendly service left a positive impression on me.

Their roastery is based in Oakland, but they have started to branch out to Contra Costa and other areas of Alameda County, which I have found quite surprising. I decided that trying their newest store out in Walnut Creek would do it justice -- and indeed, it tastes just like the one I tried in Oakland -- vibes, coffee drink, and pastry, everything with it's local taste. I got an easy vanilla latte -- and a butter croissant. Both tasted just as yummy as they say in other foodies' reviews. The only downside is the guest patio next to their stop -- I wasn't even sure if I was even allowed to sit there. I wish they could have made it clearer for other patrons so that they wouldn't get confused like I did.

What Happened to the Choco Bun?…read more Plenty of free parking. When you walk in, grab a tray and window shop all the pastries. They individually wrap these so grab what you want and place it on your tray. Once you're finished, cruise up to the counter. Would I Come Back? Yes, I keep coming back. I use to come back for the Choco Bun, but if they've changed the recipe at all locations, I'll only be coming back for the Milk Bun and Nougat. Their Signature Item: Egg tarts are their signature item. If you've ever been to an Asian party, someone almost always brings a box of egg tarts from 85-Degrees. But on today's visit. Well, just look at the photo. Someone stepped away from the oven for about 6 minutes too long. Choco Bun ($2.55, Grade D): The Choco Bun has been my absolute go-to for years--the closest location to me is usually the South Sacramento store and I tell everyone they have to get it whenever they visit an 85°C. Unfortunately, it's been about 8 months since my last trip, and the Choco Bun is no longer something to write home about. Milk Bun ($2.05, Grade A+): If you've ever had their Milk Bun with the custard filling, the Choco Bun used to be very similar in texture. Now, it's flat with super dry edges. Not good at all. Luckily, I also bought a Milk Bun (my usual second favorite), and by default, it's now my number one because the Choco Bun was a complete bust. It's so fluffy and sweet. Melts in your mouth. Strawberry Banana Smoothie / no boba ($5.85, Grade F): It was incredibly artificial-tasting--nothing real about it. I only made it through a quarter of it before throwing the rest into the garbage. My fault for hoping for a "just picked" fresh fruit taste, but this was honestly one of the worst smoothies I've ever had. Nougat ($9.60, Grade A+): The bagged Nougat candy is fantastic. It's soft, gooey, and packed with what I'm guessing are pieces of pistachio. Delicious, but a fair warning if you have dental issues: these will wreak havoc on your teeth. It's not quite as sticky as a Starburst, but it could definitely pull out a denture! Bottom Line: The staff here is friendly, and there are still a few standout 5-star items that make a visit worth it (the Milk Bun and the Nougat). However, the disappointing recipe change to the Choco Bun and the absolute miss on the smoothie knock this down to a 3-star experience overall.

Their food speaks for itself, but the customer service skills really takes away the value of a local business that has been around for years. I hope whoever I spoke on the phone with has a better day
